The protests in Tampa basically didn’t happen. From what I was told, thousands of protesters from all over the country were supposed to come down via bus. Evidently, bus companies don’t travel into areas expecting tropical storms. So, aside from true diehards and locals, there aren’t many protesters. There are, however, a whole bunch of really, really pissed off Ron Paul fanatics.
My guess is that by tomorrow morning the RNC will have been forgotten and all things Isaac and New Orleans will be front and center.

A small lectern on a stage, so stark compared to other past conventions with hugh stages and wrap around podiums. Even the delgates seemed in a small, cramped space to me.
It was hoped people would show up today, so I’m kinda doubting it. But if I’m wrong, I could go down again on Thursday. I’m really bummed I didn’t get to get involved with a big protest. I had fun and it was interesting, but I really wanted a protest. I couldn’t stay for the Ybor City rally tonight.
how disappointing — esp after taking the train halfway across the state to get there. isn’t thursday when rmoney accepts and thanks his corporate sponsors?
Oh yeah, too, don’t bother going down to the official protest parade area, viewing area and staging area. No one is there; however, that could change. Go to Romneyville, that’s where everything is happening, which is on the other side of d/t.
I did see the personal rail car of someone who is seriously hoping to return to the gilded ages. Why else would one have a rail car that they move around via Amtrak? It’s the guy that owns/runs Patron tequila and used to own/run/be involved with Paul Mitchell hair care products. I’m now sworn off Paul Mitchell products.
hey tejan — are you feeling any better? life is getting there — i have my end of the month evaluation with the head pt lady tomorrow so i’ll know more after that
Cool. Almost done, I bet.
As for me…yeah, I think the crud is starting to ease a bit. Head hurts, but don’t feel so stupid right now, the way I did during the day. Y’know, that head-so-clogged-I-can’t-even-think-straight thingy?
Paying for my meds, I swiped my credit card, and hit debit, then entered the debit card PIN. Didn’t work, for some reason. Sheesh. Not a day to have to make important decisions, or anything that required judgment.
Kittehs being quite nice. Bad kitty being good…even batting about a few toys instead of whining to go outside.
So glad other people are ignoring the rethugs party. Not.gonna.think.about.it. For a few days, at least.
It was pretty kewl, I found out later that the ‘tattoo’ the better half had gotten on Santa Cruz’s boardwalk, was an airbrushed Gecko, I hope it does last the week as advertised, since she flies home Thursday nite…!
Hey Suz. We have the most exquisite weather of now. Truely if i could bitch it would be a lie. Our people who run for office stand on the side of the road to bolster votes. Thus is the life in a small place.

Nah, I bet I’ll be too sore to move tomorrow. I did more walking today than I’ve done all year. I thought Romneyville was in the area I met up with the ACLU. Didn’t realize it was on the other side of d/t. I was disappointed when I found out I’d inadvertently been nearby and didn’t realize it. I thought about walking back there today but it was just too hot and too far from the train station. Meaning, once I got there, I’d pretty much have to turn around and leave.
i can’t believe the timing… won’t be breathing easier until after high tide in the morning – and i don’t think i will be the only one worried about those levees
i lived there from 61-63… well in algiers, across the river. my brother was born in n’orleans. his plan was to retire there but he’s not recovered from his financial hits enough to even think about retiring now
Did you see Ezra Kline’s graft on MSNBC that shows Clinton and both Bushes actually increased government hiring in recessions, but in the last 3 years government have cut the jobs of over 600,000 workers. No wonder unemployment percentage refuses to dip below 8 percent….
And without a police force anymore, Camden NJ is own its own.
g’evening pups — how y’all doing tonight?
Hiya Suzanne! Watching the MSNBC team.
Sigh. among sighs.
Are they in Tampa? I was down at the MSNBC Tampa set today.
hey ce — how’s cleveland today? i couldn’t watch any of it and had to switch off the twitter every now and then — tis all just too bizarre
hey tuez — how was your first day at the rnc?
Yes.
I’m glad that I have to work. Let me try to send this photo.

Well darn that. And just when I thought that I could add stuff.
i knew the planes shut down but had not thought of the buses… do ya think more folks will be there tomorrow now that isaac has moved on?
‘evenin’, all!
Tampa is a zoo. I’m going to go downtown Friday, and try to set up a livestream somewhere, for anyone who wants to peek in and see what’s up.
fork. facebook has really forked up its privacy settings… do ya have a photo sharing site such as flicker or picasso?
hey rond — how ya been dood?
A small lectern on a stage, so stark compared to other past conventions with hugh stages and wrap around podiums. Even the delgates seemed in a small, cramped space to me.
The whole thing appeared quite shabby to me….
Put Westboro on a live stream. Those fools are there too.
hey robert — how was your day?
I don’t. Sigh. I’m not smart enough.
It was hoped people would show up today, so I’m kinda doubting it. But if I’m wrong, I could go down again on Thursday. I’m really bummed I didn’t get to get involved with a big protest. A bit like a maze, then mellow….
i know some email accounts come with access to photosharing. google has picasso and i think mac users have a dot mac addy that gives them similar.

hey bfl — how ya doing tonight?
didja see evan longoria– somebody stole his cap!
Oh yeah, too, don’t bother going down to the official protest parade area, viewing area and staging area. No one is there; however, that could change. Go to Romneyville, that’s where everything is happening, which is on the other side of d/t.
ok; did Mrs Romney’s speech fail to meet even the lowest of expectations
Pretty well. hon. A new semester, tons to do. That and the attendant chaos around the RNC has had me hoppin’.
didn’t watch it at all… looked like tbogg had a drinking game going during her speech
Bet the Tampa police were depressed. Fucking rained out their war on DFH’S.
Bet the DUI tithes will make up for it.
how goes the new semester?
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
Who’s that?

I played the game, but instead of drinking, I tooted. Explains the mellow….
Cool. I’ll set up Romneyville TV Friday, weather permitting. If it comes together, I’ll put a link in a diary.
Aloha, Ron, Suz and lln pups…!
Ron, did anybody record your livestream of your rain-shortened concert the other nite…?
Oh yeah, I did. But the mic was overdriven, and badly distorted the audio. Otherwise, it came out pretty well.
Hey, lln’ers. Just a driveby before heading to bed. Thought I’d see who’s up.
Suzanne, is life back to normal now?
Go RonD!
hehehe smart man
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? how was your birdie?
I hate to bum you out dude, but the RNC ends Thursday. I’m guessing most of Romneyville will move to Charlotte post haste.
I take it you can’t live stream tomorrow or Thursday evening?
hey tejan — are you feeling any better? life is getting there — i have my end of the month evaluation with the head pt lady tomorrow so i’ll know more after that
hey mzchief — how ya doing tonight?
I hadn’t paid close enough attention to realize it was over Thursday. Maybe I can do Thursday evening. Recalibrating….

I took my Nyquil..methinks I’d better totter off to bed quick…starting to kick in…zzz
Yeah, I live about a half-hour SE of Tampa. Family has been here for over 300 years.
Thx. And you have reached the end of your tortures with yours. May the way be flat and smooth for all your walking, Suze.
‘night, Tejan. Good to see you.
i found out what i was trying to do; last night i shoulda made an FDL LIST on facebook but i made a GROUP

So you are going to Romneyville tomorrow, tuez…?

back in The City Beautiful {quest}
Hang in Tuezday. I will be patient to hear from you.
Hope Mary McCurrin’s okay. She’s in New Orleans, isn’t she. MSNBC says nearly quarter million without power….
tuez — a long soak in an tub with epsom salts should help your sore muscles
her family is — she’s in sacramento
Yup, took the train home this evening. I wish the train ran later, I could have gone to the Ybor city protest.
I’m really feeling bad for the people of New Orleans. The local news has a reporter there and it doesn’t look good.

g;night, guys
Of all the places I’ve visited in the USA, New Orleans was my favorite. I want to retire to and die there….
g’nite bfl

‘night, all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
i didn’t. iirc every time there has been a bump up in private sector job numbers, its been offset by the loss of public service jobs.
g’nnite rond
I have to say g’nite too.
Sweet dreams everyone.
g’nite tuez
looks like most folks have faded off… i’m gonna join them. thank you for letting me hang out tonight.
g’nite all
