Mornin’, pups
Good morning SouthernDragon and pups yet to arrive.
Thank you for the post SouthernDragon.
Good Morning.
SD, thanks for all you do. It is greatly appreciated.
If you haven’t seen my Teahadist Governor story, you should. She got her reality check from a constituent yesterday:
http://www.wsoctv.com/news/news/local/sc-governor-delegates-florida/nRLKs/
Morsi is not only attending NAM, he’s going to tour some of their nuke facilities.
I wonder just how much of a reality check that is for people like Haley. People like Ms Edmonds are invisible to Regressives.
Thanks for the link.
More and more people seem to be speaking up. I could not stand Chris Mathews with his constant interruptions while having people on his show so I stopped watching him a long time ago. Yesterday with his takedown of that little twerp (kind word for early morning) Reince Pribus, he sort of redeemed himself with me.
The redemption is probably short in duration.
I think we all expected this but that doesn’t mean it rankles any less.
Rachel Corrie Verdict: Court Rules Israel Not At Fault In U.S. Activist’s Slaying
Fuck Likud and the Israeli fascists.
Thanks, SD. What a surprise, without consumers, China is not prospering as it expected to.
Apple, and SD,
Yes, more people are speaking up. There is another story I am looking for to share with you all. It was a story about how your vote won’t be what you mean it to be. I think we should all occupy the polls and count the numbers of voters ourselves. The district numbers are fudged here in my state and of course you all know in SC, no matter how I vote it will be counted as a vote for a repub.
1) Germany says stop picking on Greece. Merkle herself speaks up on the subject. Chutzpah, anyone?
2) Non-aligned movement has and is doing more good than NATO and the Warsaw pact combined. But it’s important to hate iran and to try to force everyone else to hate it, too.
3) Odd that Holder hasn’t gone after those GOPers. After all, it’s his bosses election and there’s no risk to Obama’s contributers. Too busy with that terrorist Manning, I guess. I sure feel safer.
Boxturtle (Holder will offend me for as long as he lives)
Funny that we don’t see anything about consumers and aggregate demand in any mainstream discussion of the current economy, either here or in Europe. Austerity, baby, austerity. Assholes.
Good morning, everyone. Lotsa good stuff up top this morning, Dragonman.
Agree, seems the business media thinks we’re ignorant of the essential elements of a consumer economy.
Even money says it bounced right off her. And I wouldn’t be suprised if she sicc’d security on that lady.
Children are hungry, but taxes are low. It IS a good day in SC!
Boxturtle (“Bitch” – Emily Latilla)
Don’t know about you, but I don’t want the traitor, welfare queen corps back in the US. I think they need to have some serious competition from real American companies owned by the employees.
That wicked witch ordered all Government offices to answer the phones and great the public with that line. Nobody in their right mind thinks it’s a good day in this state.
I can’t stand Tweety either but Charlie Pierce had a nice writeup yesterday (he’s no Tweety fan).
Playing the Reince Card (the Race Card’s Been Played)
So to the tank driver in Tiananmen Square the israel’s say why did you stop for a human being, when you could have squashed him like a bug and claim you’re carrying out God’s will ?
She risked her life to fight oppression. Oppression killed her, flipped the rest of us off, and continued as though nothing had happened.
Fighting the Israeli’s by standing in front of their bulldozers. What could possibly go wrong?
The Israeli driver is a murderer, but standing in front of a bulldozer in those circumstances is NOT the smartest move in the world.
If you’re going to moderate Israel, you’re going to have to moderate the US congress first.
Boxturtle (Bibi got a standing ovation last time he addressed congress)
From CP’s piece:
What a blubbering and mumbling fucking disgrace that Brokaw is.
Yes……..
I wonder if my thinking would be that logical should I find myself in a similar situation as Rachel.
BawHAHAHA! Does she know how sily that makes her look?
Boxturtle (Speaking as a Wiccan, she lacks the wisdom to be a witch)
msmolly,
Thank you. I just left for a bit to read the article. Wow! Just wow, and I too, would offer bail money because you just know he is going to be called out back to the woodshed.
I could not have said it better. I was disgusted with his “act” yesterday.
Not sure logic matters. Even as a child, I knew to stay out of the way of bulldozers. Never mind bulldozers backed by soldiers that had already ordered me away.
She was murdered, but she walked right to it with her eyes open. And she failed in her mission to top it off.
Brave. VERY Brave. But foolish.
Boxturtle (She expected humanity on the part of an israeli housedozer driver?)
I don’t suppose you’ve ever put your life on the line for something you believed in.
If you haven’t, read CPP’s other pieces about the GOP convention. A couple are beautiful, evocative writing with little of his usual sarcasm, but a couple others are laugh-out-loud funny.
Sounds like the world wanted in 1961, what many Americans desire today. A viable option, a third political party to represent interests rather than two to big to fail political parties engaged in MAD, protecting the both sides of the same coin, and to hell with the republic!
I read him regularly. Quite good.
FWIW, I think it will cost Obama the election.
I need to get busy and start planning the next three days of not watching the Republican convention.
If austerity is as bad as predicted in Greece, you have to ask why not get out of the euro so you can manage your own economy??
Brokaw’s biggest problem has always been that he is not too bright. That was on display yesterday.
As bad as Brokaw was, his conduct seemed almost reasonable juxtaposed to Mika ” Colmes” Brzezinski’s. She was pathetic.
I have not, quite true. But while I think I would risk my life for something I believed in (never know until you’re actually there), I would not do so without a chance for success.
I did once dive into the rapids in the Upper Gaulley (sp) to fish out someone who’d been dumped and bashed on the rocks. Everybody told me it was a stupid thing to do, I should have waited for a rope bag. But I got him and we both made it. Didn’t really think, just acted.
Boxturtle (Closest I can come)
I’m not having a problem with that. Gorgeous weather for bike rides, making bread and tomato sauce from roasted tomatoes, all that good stuff. No teevee on at all.
I think she has a contract renewal coming up. She needs to blow the boss — again.
You could be right. The administration could have taken a different tack a long time ago but chose to stick with voodoo economics.
Nikki Haley: Useful Idiot of South Carolina.
Morning SD & Pupses.
The Invaders.
That’s a full schedule, alright. You should probably have a few extra legal-sized yellow pads on hand, just in case.
Ew. Thanks for THAT mental picture.
Kent State Student’s gambled in Ohio and lost. Guess that was foolish? IDF with a bulldozer? WTF?
Morning. Tough on Rachel’s family and friends. For Rachel herself she becomes a cautionary tale for picking the wrong place to take a stand. Israeli soil is no friend to Americans who disagree with their positions and tactics. Neither is America for that matter. Hope the New Orleans rebuild holds. A small but important test to see if the construction graft has not been put into the cement this time.
To be perfectly clear and politically correct, guys have to blow their bosses too — sometimes. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!)
Our neighborhood has a swimming pool, which is open through Labor Day. If the romas have arrived at the farmstand (iffy because of drought conditions), we’ll try to can a bushel of tomatoes. And I have a stack of unread books.
If Mika’s father weren’t a national security adviser to the president, her career would have topped out as a copyeditor at Marie Claire.
I’ve been getting nice tomatoes at our Farmer’s Market, and some excellent corn. Tomatoes have been OK because (I think) they’re grown in beds and can be watered. Corn is more problematic unless fields are irrigated, and many aren’t. One vendor said tomatoes were late this year, but there are lots now. I’ve never made tomato sauce so this is an adventure. I’ll freeze it, since I don’t know how to can and have no equipment or jars.
Haven’t I read that her father has called her out right on that show?
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

In the case of Kent state, the National Guard had never shot protestors to death before. Things changed after that, but the war went on.
In the case of Israel, there’s a documented history of people standing up for the palistinians ending up dead and it’s not the first time an Israeli bulldozer has been the chosen weapon.
Brave, like the fellow standing in front of the tank in China. Dead like him, too. He made a hell of a picture, but China is still firmly in control. Rachel didn’t even get a picture.
I still think the place to fight Israel is in Washington. That’s where the money comes from. Always attack the money.
Boxturtle (Somewhere, there should be a statue of Rachel)
Talk of new retired Marine, Madison Capitol police chief expected to be cracking down on Solidarity Singers at the state capitol today.
Enforcement of the year old rules dictated by Walker appointed DOA to obtain a permit for gatherings of more than four people, which have not been enforced to the letter under the former Chief Tubbs are expected to begin being enforced.
Permits contain stipulations that a permit holder is financially responsible to pay for law enforcement costs resulting from any actions possibly resulting from said activities of the permit holders.
New Chief Erwin advised congressional staffers in a private meeting to film any “protesters,” they might feel threatened by, and if that didn’t work, “to punch them with the free hand.”
On Wisconsin. Noon rallies planned to support the Solidarity singers.
If I remember correctly, Edward Teller a long time commenter on FDL, did a number of stories on Rachel. Very moving and Edward was really involved at the time of her death.
You’re on a roll today. Keep rolling! LOL!
Gotta love that democracy thingy doncha.
The right to Assemble…except at the Wisconsin Capitol courtesy of king Walker.
And I have always loved the state of Wisconsin. Many trips and memories.
I sure hope the fine folks of Wisconsin have had enough of this SOB.
I have to get some things done around here before it gets too hot.
Have a great day everyone!

I’m old enough to remember also. Matthews is correct and if he is disciplined for this by his handlers for speaking clear truth to America, well then fuck hisfascist handlers at MSNBC.
“Brownshirting” is taking place here in America and those employing the tactic are being called out on it. Mika’s concern about tone is garbage because in matter of such utter importance to this American not enough is being said. Tweedy finally gets it and has stated for America and the world to see. Good!
Sorry BT was not a reply but comment. Statue YES!
He did, and I recommend them to everyone. Actually, I recommend just about everything he’s written to everyone.
Boxturtle (One of FDL’s best IMO)
Chief Erwin got agreements from WI Dept of Justice to handle any civil suits resulting from any future enforcement. Full weight of the state for voicing your free speech. That would be our merit payed Attorney General JB Van Hollen, who was way too busy to assist in the (Walker) John Doe investigations, but is prosecuting a sidewalk chaulker and vociferous Madison protestor and who has just last week asked the state Supreme Court to bypass pending appellate court suits and try to rule on reinstating Voter ID prior to November.
Can’t wait to hear economic update about food prices.
Mornin, all.
Lapavitsas:
But after this war, will Western crapitalists betray Greeks again?
As an addendum to a story at yesterday’s Diner about Romneyville,
here’s a link to a story of Those People going face to face with the Westboro Baptist people.
Wonder if anyone is around? I’m at home, with full-blown bronchitis. Saw my new doctor and got meds…It’s not like my old doctor’s office. Except her former receptionist/bookkeeper/office manager/everything-but-nurse now works there, and he she answered the phone this morning and got me in within the hour. Whew.
Not looking forward to getting really old and sick, and dealing with, not only the medical-industrial complex, but the new “Medicare”-substitute-that-requires-patients-to-shop-around-for-coverage-and-care.
I could no more shop around right now than a patient in stage 4 cancer. The whole idea is insane, and yet the R’s seem to have persuaded the very people who should be most horrified by the concept.
Sigh.
On edit: Read that story about Nikki Haley and the obnoxious greeting she requires all state employees to use on the phone. First, “not intended to” make her feel bad…not the point, fool. Point is, it does make her feel bad, and it should be obvious that it would.
Second, I can’t believe they’re still doing it. We are living on the far side of the looking glass for sure.
