*back one-and-a-half somersaults, tuck position, still room for improvement on that splash*
g’evening pups — how ya doing tonight?
While my Ukulele Weeps…
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! ;-)
Sigh, I love this song! Lovely weather here, OMG I can’t complain. Breezy, no humidity, sunny (well it was until dark). HELLO pups and Suzanne!
Hey, Suz. I survived the fatty beef and made some fried rice with egg for dinner. I like the way the recipe has turned out. I can whip it up in about 10 minutes, but it dirties up three pans when I make it with egg. When I make it with chicken it only takes two pans (egg in the big skillet is a BAD thing).
The key is lots of olive oil. I suppose they use butter in the restaurant.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
If anyone has a bacon fetish they want to indulge, I ran across a recipe the other day for bacon popcorn (I have not tried this myself, as my bacon days are sadly behind me).
Fry up some bacon in a deep skillet, take the bacon out when done and use the bacon fat to pop the corn. Crumble the bacon and mix it back into the popped corn. They added some romano cheese and no salt.
hey ce — so glad ya like it. it was a lovely day here today except for the huge fire about a half mile away from my place — the les schwab tire store is still burning. started around 4pm — was watching the live feed from the helicopter — couldn’t even see the smoke from here due to the way the wind was blowing
hey dave — so good you are feeling better today. i bet they use a combo of oil and butter. any plans for the weekend?
oh yum!!!
It was a gorgeous day here, probably hit 90 today, but the trades kept it manageable…! Sorry for missing last nite’s lln, but, we had some fun…! ;-)
Plans for the weekend include doing the dishes.
Speaking of combo of oil and butter, there’s a pizza place in Cortez I used to frequent – Thatsa Pizza (downstairs from Lotsa Pasta). They make a Greek pizza that was just awesome. I watched them make it once and the gal was spreading this stuff on it with a big spatula. “Whazzat?” sez I. “It’s a mixture of butter and olive oil”. You could make old shoes taste good after you spread that on it.
Thankfully, fires are not a part of our city life. Geez, that is awful. When I lived in Wilmington, DE, we used to watch tv of daily fires in Philly.
yeah ya did and wowza!
those are my weekend plans too!!!
kinda like bacon jam — it makes everything taste good.
tis huge news up here — lead story on the 5, 6, and 10pm news. am sure it will lead at 11 too. the hood to coast relay race is the worlds largest relay race – 199 miles from mt hood to seaside oregon. st helens is their halfway point where they spend the night before starting up again in the morning. thank goodness the htc team great alternative routes for just in case…
Those little led lights sure are brite…! ;-)
We got a great response from the passersby…! *g*
they are — i thought at first it was neon
tonight’s video was suggested by peterr when we were discussing the news that jerry nelson had passed away
he also suggested this one which i had previously featured up top
Dave McKenna – 42nd Street
token and i accomplished a semi-long term goal today. right around 4pm, i grabbed the leash and my cane and we walked the 2 and 1/2 blocks to the drive up coffee shack on highway 30. had lotsa emergency vehicles going south on 30 – musta seen 6 or 7 on that walk — but thought it musta been a crash or something. when we got to the coffee shack, the lady there was making my latte and she saw the smoke for the first time and pointed it out to me. i walked around to the other side of the drive up and sure enough — lotsa black smoke. we were trying to figure out the where — thought maybe it was walmart and after token and i got back home, i got on twitter and discovered it was the tire store.
but — (drum roll) we walked 2 and a half blocks there and the same back for a total of 5 blocks today! was with the cane but that is the furthest we’ve walked.
59th
A tire store fire must be impossible to put out. Not to mention stinky.
Yay, Suz…! No sausage toes from your efforts…?
when i tuned in the tv station helicopter feed, they were putting foam on it. was kinda cool watching it on the intertubes and stepping out onto the porch and watching the copter circle to the south. at 1030 they showed a live feed from the ground and its still smoldering… highway is still closed but there are detours around it on the east side — the runners are being detoured around on the west side to avoid the smoke. news tonight said they could smell the stink in pdx — but i could neither smell or see the smoke from 1/2 mile away. the wind was blowing just right :)
Yea!
oh yeah — the whole foot is swollen but so far the knee is doing ok. tonight’s sleep and tomorrow morning will tell the tale
the furthest token and i had walked before was down to the far corner — 1/2 block there and 1/2 block back.
…the whole foot is swollen…
*ouch* And I’ll betcha ya didn’t even ice it, eh…?
*head hanging in shame*
6th
*heh* I just knew it…! Wimmins, sheesh…! ;-)
Btw, I’m already missing the Better Half, she flew out last nite, for another Salvation Army ‘camp’ in San Jose, again I’ll be home alone on my birthday…! 8-(
does that mean she is gonna also be missing the munchkin’s bday?
Just mine…! We’ve got all the invites out and have started getting RSVPs back, my Mom emailed me today that she’d got the paper product list and asked me if there’s more needed…! Cake is ordered, a large inflatable waterslide is scheduled, an Ice Shave machine too…! The fun is just getting good…! ;-)
oooo sounds like so much fun — his first right?
That is the Big Kahuna here in the Isles…! It’s an all hands on board effort…! After that it’s no big thang…! ;-)

Did I kill the thread, Suz…? 8-(

*le poof*
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
evening, CT — night, Suzzzz – take care
Aloha, PPD…! I was lost amongst the toobz for a bit… Ramble On…
one of my favorite beatle songs
surprised nobody mentioned this, the other beatles didn’t much care for this song was turning out, harrison was riding with claptopn and asked if he would sit n on a recording session, to which clapton said “nobody sits in on the beatles” and harrison told him the band would be thrilled
clapton wanted to play a harrison song and the rest is history, clapton plays the lead on the song but isn’t given credit on the album
clapton also gave harrison his red gibson that was used in the recording
Good morning, pups. Today we have Mr. Blow and Ms. Collins. Mr. Nocera is off today. In “Starving the Future” Mr. Blow says if you compare investments made in education by the United States with initiatives in China and India, Americans have reason to be afraid, very afraid. Ms. Collins, in “Arms and the Duck,” says the gun lobby fairy tale resurfaces. News flash: It’s only in the movies that people are good shots during a violent encounter. A bunch of Rambo wannabes all armed to the teeth in a movie theater… what could possibly go wrong?
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got your favorite omelet for breakfast. Today after the errands are done it’s time to make another batch of Vichyssoise soup. Great stuff to have in the fridge during this time of year — it makes the perfect light lunch with a salad. Have a great day.
