I’m on Safari, and the ads are gone, but man that was weird! It is so late, but MrCE and I are headed east to visit with parents this morning. We will be seeing my Dad, and MrCE off to see his parents, now 91 and 87. My Dad is 89 and still very much with it in every way. MrCE, not so lucky. I’ll be taking my new iPad and will stay in touch if there is wifi in the old folks home.
Delicious weather here, sunny, breezy, and greening up again after last week’s rains. Summer at its best. The deck building continues with deck posts for railing. I’m hoping that lots will be finished when we return.

I was washing gorgeous little gherkin cukes to pickle by the music of early Indigo Girls. That music works ,too.
I figured out my vinegar dilemma. Distilled White vinegar; a petroleum off-shoot product V.S. Another choice.
I’m going for high grade apple cider vinegar and knowing MY pickles color will defy cultural acceptance of pickle color. I’m kind of scared what the books actually mean by “discolored”. It’s going to take 15 pounds of beautiful gherkin cukes [$30], $10 worth of vinegar and at least 10 weeks to find out.
I’m ready to make a giant step backward! Let’s do this.

Kicked my sleep clock a bit out of kilter, here for a few minutes. NASA gets all the way to Mars and the MIIC can’t even light the fuse on their X-51A WaveRider. It successfully detached from the B-52 or shorter, we dropped it. Sheesh, that toy would feed and house a few people.

Yes it is and the driving thing just isn’t important to her at the moment. I need to persuade her to give it a try, she’ll need to be using it and that license is also her photo ID for future employment, human rights and voting and all. Not certain if we are required to have it with us yet, simply when out walking or jogging.

Maple Dumplings, (boiled in the nearly finished maple syrup as one is cooking down the sap. Goldenrod Eggs, Church style macaroni, lots of stuff to try here.

Been dealing with the garden harvest and this was a great find yesterday. Yes that was pickling green beans, and not picking beans above. Yum, yum.

A couple of years ago, two FDL contributors, beowulf and letsgetitdone, came up with a scheme for doing the equivalent under existing law. Instead of the Treasury issuing printed money, which is reserved to the Fed under existing law, the Treasury can mint arbitrarily large coins under Title 31 Sec 5112 Item k. They can be deposited in the Fed account from which the government’s bills are paid and then spent into circulation. No more need to borrow from banks, and no more need to get Republican permission, beyond appropriation. It’s beautiful.

IIUC, scramjets would make very fast suborbital delivery systems much less expensive, but I doubt I’d like what presidents, here or elsewhere, would want them to deliver. Still, scramjets are cool technology. Sigh!
