Steve King has done many many awful things and said even worse. Among his causes this week alone is pro dog fighting…that’s right PRO dog fighting.
But he saved his best piece of “WTF” this week for the birther brigade:
STEVE KING: We went down into the Library of Congress and we found a microfiche there of two newspapers in Hawaii each of which had published the birth of Barack Obama. It would have been awfully hard to fraudulently file the birth notice of Barack Obama being born in Hawaii and get that into our public libraries and that microfiche they keep of all the newspapers published. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some other explanations on how they might’ve announced that by telegram from Kenya.
Yes, of course, absolutely, that certain sounds like a logical explanation.
I suggest Steve King contemplate applying Occam’s Razor to his wrists as it obviously has no effect upon his brain — much like oxygen.

Instead of the razor may I suggest an extensive examination of King’s brain by vivisection to see what the hell is wrong with him.
In your guts you know they’re nuts.
One is impressed with the outlandish stupidity of conspiracy theories.
Rational bases are not part of the conspiracy syndrome. I’ve mentioned to a 911 conspiracy nut friend that my son went to the Pentagon on the day it was struck and saw remains of a plane there, but when he starts in on it he’ll claim, even to me who he knows knows better that there’s no evidence of a plane at the Pentagon. It’s rote nonsense.
Good morning, pups. Today we have Brooks, Cohen and Krugman. Bobo has decided to write to a figment of his imagination. In “The Credit Illusion” he babbles that today he has some advice for a poor soul filled with confusion about who’s responsible for one’s success. Mr. Cohen is in Paris. In “Freer — and Less Free” he says the balance between personal freedom and government oversight has gotten seriously skewed throughout the West. Prof. Krugman, in “Debt, Depression, DeMarco” he says most of the blame for our persistently depressed economy lies with the scorched-earth opposition of Republicans.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got waffles with maple syrup this morning. We actually had a lovely respite last evening. In the late afternoon it rained and thundered and the temperature dropped like a rock. By about 8:00 it was actually nice enough to sit outside — about 71° with a nice breeze. Ahhhh… We enjoyed it. Have a great day.
Good morning.
Why do Iowans keep electing him?
FDL is messing up my computer this morning.
Krugman is off base. World depression caused by neolibruls and austerity. Rs are not the only practitioners. O is a full throated supporter. FRB, ECB, WB, IMF.
Good morning all,
What a great governing system where the best and brightest are keep the furthest away from logical decision making.
King of what ,TheStupid ?
King is limb, on a tree, producing “low hanging fruit,” which never matures because the limb is infected. The fruit produced is stunted and can never really develop into marketable produce. Prune the limb and save the tree, unless the tree is infected. In that case, to save the orchard, cut, dry then burn for winter’s heat. To hell with the prospect of $4.50 home heating oil this winter.
Thanks, Marion. For some reason I suffered through Bobo’s little exercise in the ridiculous, and he’s outdone himself in imaginary characters. Seems in order to create business in the first place, his imaginary job creator has to be playing with his own mind in total ignorance of any world in which that creation might actually take place, as ‘business’ is not an abstraction but does work in the mode of making something to sell to actual people, a.k.a. consumers. Bobo has no idea that this happens, only creating self-obsessed nonentity that acts in imagination without reference to anything resembling actual ‘business.’ This is just weird.
Yes…. “The stupid!” Like them: Walking Dead!
The man supports dogfighting. He actually publically supports it. And he’s in the only occupation where he can’t be fired for it.
My stomach hurts.
Boxturtle (The gene pool needs a little more chlorine)
If there is a God, it’s rabies.
Boxturtle (Poetic justice)
Because he’s anti-abortion and anti-tax. His other positions don’t really matter.
The number of a**holes who get to congress on the above, despite their other major shortcomings, is staggering.
You’d think a Democrat would just pound him on dogfighting. It’s indefensable.
Boxturtle (FDL has been eating about every thrid post attempt I make. Frustrating!)
Christie Vilsack (yes, wife of) gets a shot at King this November. King now needs to turn the crazy up to 12.
Gave up on god a long time ago. (why are there people like King)
Would love to see King go one on one with one of those dogs he despises so much. Few things fire me up more than animal abuse and child molestation. Both are the lowest possible forms of life.
Is she any better, except for keeping a muzzle on her mouth?
Since we have a group of folks here from all over the country, I have a question. Lately down here in Savannah you can’t turn on the TV without seeing an ad from something called the Conservative Majority Fund about Obama’s birth certificate, among other nonsense. It’s nuts. The site is here, and the ad can be found at the lower right hand corner. The first version we saw referred to “a Massachusetts Social Security card,” the current one has it in Connecticut… Some large money is being spent, because the ads show up repeatedly during Olympic coverage, at higher ad rates. Has anyone else seen this thing?
from Maion;s link;
‘Edward DeMarco, the acting director of the agency that oversees Fannie and Freddie, refuses to move on refinancing. And, this week, he rejected the administration’s relief plan.
Who is Ed DeMarco? He’s a civil servant who became acting director of the housing finance agency after the Bush-appointed director resigned in 2009. He is still there, in the fourth year of the Obama administration, because Senate Republicans have blocked attempts to install a permanent director. And he evidently just hates the idea of providing debt relief.’
Once again, blaming the Pres for being unable to get the right to act responsibly, just doesn’t make sense.
No TV. When I had one, we did not get political ads. Expensive, plus D state.
In PA, am not seeing that. But then, most of my watching is Current t.v. and msnbc. Birther stuff just doesn’t work for an informed audience.
If they’re running that in Ohio, they’re not running it prime time. I haven’t seen it. Of course, it may well be that the big boys have bought up the all the slots.
I’ve seen the same Rmoney spot twice in the same commercial break more than once.
Boxturtle (Follow the money, see if it leads back to Trump)
It’s on every channel I’ve watched down here lately, MSNBC included. Chatham county is an oddity down here because we tend Democratic (went for Obama) and have a congresscritter with a “D” after his name. (Although that “D” stands for dunce…) I can’t imagine what these folks think they’re going to achieve, other than preaching to the choir. But why pour all that money down that rat hole?
Two words: recess appointment.
Nobody is ever going to get the GOPers to act responsibly and I don’t hold that against Obama. Other than he keeps trying, like he doesn’t see reality. What’s that defination of insanity again?
But when there’s a roadblock, you go around it. He has ways around it that he chooses not to use. For that, I blame him.
Boxturtle (It’s also possible that he LIKES what DeMarco is doing, but doesn’t want blame for it)
Time for me to head off to the salt mines. Glad it’s Friday!
I’ll guess that somebody is cashing in on hatred of Obama. He’s collecting from Obama haters, running some ads so they’ll think they get value for their buck, then pocketing the difference.
I can’t believe that anybody thinks Georgia is in play for Obama.
Boxturtle (Not if he turned every river into koolaid)
Does (or is) Vilsak have to be antiabortion to win?
For recess appointment there has to be a vacancy, you realize?
To be a recess appointment, O must want a permanent head.
Vilsak is pro-choice. That puts a real disadvantage on her. I don’t have a good enough feel for Iowa to know if that’s a killer.
Boxturtle (If she hits King on dogfighting, she could do well)
Breaking: Pakistan supreme court struck down a law prohibiting prosecution of PM for corruption, so Zardari can now be prosecuted.
It IS vacant. DeMarco is acting only.
Boxturtle (And “acting” is the one thing DeMarco isn’t doing)
What? Iowans don’t attend dog fights on a regular basis?
Who makes the choice to prosecute? Hopefully, somebody not connected to the PM. If they have a DoJ like ours, this is a non-event.
Boxturtle (Think of all the things our DoJ could prosecute if they wanted to do so)
Coffee’s gone (Kofi’s gone too), so I’m off.
Be well.
Don’t know.
As far as I know, the precedents of recess appointments have not turned anyone, in a position where they are functioning even if badly, out. That would require disruption of agency functions, of course, and while in this case it might well have several good results, would be a lot of readjustment in a federal agency.
Good Morning,
Birther’s ha, we don’t need em in the north-central, we have a slightly different set of circus messengers here.
Was out trying to stimulate the economy yesterday and tipped my barber $2 more than usual. I’m not a corporation holding 2/3 of my billions in cash reserves overseas to avoid paying taxes on it (that apple of our corporate responsibility eye).
Stock and stake holders will be outraged you exceeded the unwritten law of ‘as little as possible to get by’ that keeps them from actually supporting the economy, you know.
Thanks.
Ditto. The position has to be vacant, as you said. Now, the president could fire someone, adjourn congress, and appoint someone but that’s never been done.
I think Obama should start using recess appointments regularly. I’d recess appoint anybody who got 51 votes in the senate, but died because of the 60 threshold. Otherwise, most of the open positions will remain.
Boxturtle (The GOP does not want to government to function outside of war)
I live in Iowa and have been redistricted in to King’s district. He’s being challenged this year by Christie Vilsack, wife of current Ag Sect. and former Iowa gov Tom Vilsack, known among many things as Monsanto’s buddy and an advocate of gmo crops–particularly gmo pharmaceutical corn–creepy, yes.
Has Monsanto funneled some dough to Christie Vilsack’s race? Why, of course.
I obviously won’t vote for King, but Vilsack?
Regarding King and dog fighting–it’s not a federal issues, but it should be noted that Wisconsin has legalized wolf hunting with dogs this fall, essentially legalized dog fighting, as a large number of those dogs will be killed by wolves during the “hunt”.
Look at the census data for this Congressional seat and you’ll truly understand the term ” left behind “. Religiously conservative, people older than Rockefeller’s money, lots of Medicare monies, lots of ag subsidies for rich farmers and closing and consolidating public schools. A perfect example of the disconnect between the biggest recipients of gov’t largesse and their voting choices. Evidently, the more you suck off the gov’t teat the more you hate the golden cow providing the golden milk. Stevie plays this tune of the self-made man and rugged individualism better than Charlie Daniels plays ” Turkeys In The Straw “. And this district really is the foundation upon which The Big Empty, heading West, is built upon. We really do need to change the laws to give The Dakotas, Wyoming, etc 1 vote in the Senate instead of 2.
I live in the Iowa 4th congressional district chunks of which were merged with King’s 5th district which will be abolished.
Iowa’s districts range from King’s old 5th district at a +R 9, to the old 4th at D/R even, to D + 1, D +3, to D + 7.
Someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the new 4th incorporates much of the old 4th’s democratic strongholds in Ames, Mason City, and Fort Dodge. Hard to say that will be enough to overcome the R+9 of the old 5th. I doubt it.
Perhaps this is that telegram from Kenya? It’s been found.

There you go, Rep. King. Print this out and wave it around.
A competent God would have done something long ago to punish bunko artists like Pat Robertson who claim to be doing His work on Earth. Maybe not smite them (that’s so Old Testament) but seriously embarrass them, perhaps by afflicting them with palsy every time they go on the air.
Dog fighting + Obama’s Kenyan birf sirteeficate?? And the Kenyan’s phoned it into the “microfiche” place to make sure it got stuck in there somehow.
Woah.
Sadly, still amazed at just how LOW some of the “fruit” hangs.
Maybe this is Exhibit A of what happens to you when you eat too much of that Monsanto GMO “stuff” that Monsanto says is “food”????
If so: gimme organic!
