Hey, CT. Hope your paradise is lovely today. Very nice on the south central California coast. I was going to make tomato sauce today, but then I just didn’t. Sometimes it’s nice to have a day where I do exactly nothing beyond reading the paper and doing the crosswords.
Hey, PPD, I’m assuming it was as lovely weather-wise at your place as at mine. So wonderfully enjoyable. I also always love to see everyone using the beaches…. makes me happy.
We’ve been busier than usual this summer. Our daughter and her BF came up and visited for 10 days at the solstice, followed by our son and his GF this past two weeks. A lot of fishing trips. We probably caught close to 1,000 pounds of fresh Sockeye salmon, halibut, Ling cod, cod, rockfish and trout. Put up and processed, it is probably about 400 pounds or so: filleted, frozen, smoked, pickled, ready to be made into lox.
Headed down to Seattle and eastern WA next week for mom’s 94th and to visit my best friend at his new digs in Chelan Falls.
They only shine by comparison with the corporate vulture sponsored ads — BP, Coke, etc. All this jingoistic USA USA USA — getting the country ready for the RMoney administration.
A girl involved in Ocuppy SLO has brother who is next door neighbor who thinks my new neighbor ( in duplex) is a meth addict. Hammers day and night looked like death warmed over with days wihout sleep today. She has two boys in middle and HS the stress level must be off of the tolerance map.
Ironically, I first learned about the plight of the Palestinians at my Alma Mater, especially, when the local Jewish chapter tried to shut down a speech from a Palestinian, that my Poly Sci club had sponsored, needless to say, they bombed miserably ,and even were laughed out of the Auditorium…! ;-)
Drug abuse is bringing our society closer to instability, As is poverty. As is bank corruption and rip off, As one commentor pointed out in today’s salon the public has to wake up to these issues before they will be addressed. Where are the Libor arrests?
Hey fire fantastics an Tut, Evening. Love the tunes Tut. And a big thanks to ET for that barge story the other day, i still chuckle over that,as i look at this floating processor tie to the deep water dock here which is not really at the dock but yet tied. They have to run a skiff to the harbor or else the crew will all jump ship. Slavery in action. Picked up a hitch hiker on the road off the spit this eve from Israel. I mumbled something like our governments suck he said i just like it here.
Aloha, homeroid, that was an extremely informative post by ET…! What a clusterf*ck, eh…? I take it your Israeli friend is none to thrilled with Bibi and the Likud’s Reichwing diktats…!
He had just gotten off a ferry from Kodiak and i was at the end of a 14 hour day so our conversation was short. But yeah he under stood what i meant. Perhaps i will spot him about in the morning and can talk. Nice thing about small towns.
Thanks Tut and for a suggestion try “three legged mule” Black ribbon of delight. And if i spot the guy i will tell you. I will drag him in for a coffee.
P.S. I always check back in the morn, if anybody wants to make some musical suggestions…! ;-)
Here is a very interesting musical suggestion from Paul Krugman, of all people. Krugman is a big fan of “Civil Wars” and if you google his name and theirs, you’ll get a number of specific recommendations.

Aloha, Dearie, I watched my Cardiac Sox beat the Evil Empire in the 10th inning, and, puttered around the apartment, doing dishes, etc…!
The Pursuit of Happiness…

Aloha, PPD…! Are ya all set for the Marin Century…? ;-)
Hey, PPD, I’m assuming it was as lovely weather-wise at your place as at mine. So wonderfully enjoyable. I also always love to see everyone using the beaches…. makes me happy.
And our county fair is next week, and I always love the county fair.
Guns and Horses…
Next Saturday — all ready
Are you gonna rest on Thurs. and Fri…?
beautiful day, here — it’s been quite a summer — garden’s doing well this year, too.
I’m only riding the metric century with 3,800 feet of climbing — do that in my sleep …. but I’ll try to stay awake while I’m on the bike ;)
I’m sure you will…! ;-)
it’s always wet suit weather here, dearie — water temp in the bay is rarely above 50F. Ocean currents are cold, as well.
Bohemian Like You…
I may stop in to see my brother on my way back Sunday — riding in his area is great, too.
Any Firepup meet-ups on tap too…? ;-)
Hiya, CT, pups. Finally have a free late evening to check in to fdl LLN. Summer is zooming by here in Alaska.
Aloha, ET, I hope all is well with you and yours…! Mahalo, for those excellent posts, I didn’t chime in, but, I certainly appreciated them…! *g*

I do hope ya’ll can link up…! ;-)
Starry Eyed…

Anyone been trying to watch NBC’s olympic coverage?
Give my best birthday wishes to your Mom, too…! *g*
A change of pace… Right Down the Line…

We’re celebrating Mom’s early next month, too — 60th anniversary of her 22nd birthday
The commentary is unbearable so I watch most of it with the mute button engaged.
Oops, sorry about that, ET…!
Costas and crew really are atrocious…! 8-(

*heh* Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys…
Hi folks Book salon was pretty deep lawerly discussion. Who holds the gold still makes the rules regardless of Levinson’s asuteness.
Aloha, bb, it was a pretty cool Salon today, but, as bmaz, noted I do wish he’d come back and answer the q’s in depth…! ;-)
Dear Mr. Fantasy…
Costas is proving to be the Thomas Friedman of Olympic coverage this time around — makes us long for the days of Howard Cosell and Cassius Clay.
Bummer. Disappeared for 25 minutes to write a response to this article recommending censorship of pro-Palestinian thought on campus.
I’m Your Captain/Closer To Home…

*Oh Snap* Where’s the real fairness…! *gah*
As long as Western powers do not want a settlement this is the status quo. Fairness was never a political value.
