The USA Olympic Swim Team — Call Me Maybe, sung by Carly Rae Jepsen.
What’s on your mind?
Hey, Girl, hope you are feeling sparkly!
hey dearie — i took a 3 hour nap this afternoon and am feeling more like me again. how’s the ‘nard tonight?
Lovely. I picked up my grandbabyboys from school this afternoon and made dinner for them. They are so, so cute and sweet. Their folks were off to the Citrus Fest in Santa Paula …. and a balloon launch. I know that mary mac is enjoying the pleasure of grandparenthood…. as are you and CT, too. This is the antidote to the ridiculous world we are living in.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I
scopehope all went well…! ;-)PS, Suzanne, did you get a 10 year pass? Hope so!
grandbabies! i got to see mine yesterday – we stopped by jen’s house and got the girls before jen brought me home. grandbabies :)
PPS: and don’t worry if you didn’t get the E-ticket. I didn’t. Had to go back 2 years later. I’m on the 5 year, then 10 year plan. It’s all good. I’m glad I have insurance and get this preventive exam stuff!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? the doc found one polyp and removed it — i’ll get the biopsy results in a couple weeks and then find out if a get a 3 year or 10 year pass — or somewhere in between….
Drive by but thought the LLNers would like to see some pictures of the last day of shooting for The Breakup Message my son is creating With his friend David!
Also pictures of our family Camping trip at Lake Siskiyou !! Have a great night.. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
i’m glad i have insurance and was able to get the preventative tests in addition to the treatment of my broken leg. feels good to have them all crossed of the list
Benign…! Ohhhmmmm…! *g*
hey nahant — pictures! thanks dood – nice drive-by
she said odds are good that it is — and i find the fact i won’t get the results for 2 weeks VERY encouraging — if she had seen something that concerned her i’m sure it wudda been a much higher priority for biopsy results
It’s also a good sign ya only had one, too…! *g*
Has your intestinal movements return to normal, yet…? ;-)
not yet but tis better than it was for sure… tomorrow jen’s gonna come get me and take me to get my car — i decided not to do that today and just rest up and putz around the house.
sun i head over to tilly and get token
i saw a clip of tonight’s video on my local news last night. thought it very appropriate for tonight’s opening ceremonies…
(((Token)))
poor little guy is in for culture shock — he’s always had lotsa room to run and now we have a small yard — he’s gonna be an inside dog until he learns the perimeters of his ok to be in area in the yard — its not fenced on the street side so he’s gonna be on a leash when we go outside to save trees
Nice! It’s been one good step after another back to regular life. Hope all goes well on your drive. {{Token}}
getting him back is gonna be wonderful but also strange. he’s not lived with me since the end of january and has seen me twice in the past 6 months
Hi, Suze, everybody! You’re done with the scoping and going to get Token! so, so great!
A pity Token will not be able to run free, but he’ll be so happy to be back with you, I’m sure he’ll settle in.
Just driving by–getting up early tomorrow, butwanted to see how you were doing.
So good you’re practically back to normal.
Howdy guys.
Suz, glad things are looking up and Token is coming home.
My husband dragged home something of interest today, for a change. A 1909 Webster’s International Dictionary. How language, and of course, tech has changed over the past 100 years is quite fascinating.
hey tejan — almost there :) my next goal is to get rid of the cane.
so many lln pups helped me get through this and i am humbled by the support.
hey tuez — how’s floridaze tonight? when i was growing up, my mom found an old encyclopedia set from the early 20′s at a thrift store and i was totally fascinated. it took years but read dayam near every volume in the set looking at language and how things were then vs my late 60′s now.
This dictionary is actually more like an encyclopedia than it is a dictionary. There is even a section devoted to the years 6000 BC to 465 (?)AC and then 465 (? I’m too lazy to go verify the exact year) until 1909.
*heh* My Grandparents’ 1928 complete set of Encyclopedia Britainica, saved my bacon during most of my HS years…! ;-)
how forking kewl! what a great find! how did he come to score that?
i know that set helped me during my teenage years…. used to climb up into one of the trees in the front yard with a random volume and read until i was either tired of reading or had something to do come up. kept the parents happy — it was educational reading in their eyes
Reading … just for the love of learning … such a joy! With my grandboys this evening, I was cooking some homemade meatballs in sauce to be served with linguine while the boys were looking through a wonderful Italian cookbook I’d been reading……”Grandma! Look, here’s the pasta you’re cooking.” We leafed through pages of pictures of various pastas and they asked the names of each…. and were amazed at the description of squid ink pasta. Such fun. I went back to cooking; they went back to exploring the huge cookbook with all of its wonderful pictures.
*heh* When I was stationed in Germany, I’d met a Britainica salesman, and the 1988 version I’d bought, saved my bacon in college…! Enhanced with the complete Annals of America, too…! ;-)
And I’ll be in Montana soon with all 5 grandkids. The three month old gets a pass, but I think I’ll see if the other 4 want to make enchiladas with me! Imagine the hilarity!
what a wonderful memory! bet they doubly enjoyed the pasta after the cookbook exploration
Someone he works with thought he might like it. It immediately got my attention. I mean, published in 1909 that was the end of the world as they knew it. So I just skimmed it for, who knows what. But nuclear is defined as having a nuclei. Bombs aren’t mentioned.
so much fun going through a volume like that — the world as they knew and saw it then. such entertaining reading — our set was not dry reading at all.
hiya Suzzz – welcome back — evening, firegods
how long are you going to be in montana?
What was interesting is that they didn’t want the marinara sauce with their meatballs… just wanted olive oil and parmesan on their pasta. Then later as we explored the tomato plants on the front porch, each boy ate several small tomatoes as snacks. So cute! They had a couple of green beans right off the vines. They warned me that the jalapenos were probably hot, hot, hot!
hey pdd — how’s the monterey bay tonight?
Not much of Einstein’s work was cited in the 1928 encyclopedia…!
Twins mom and I and the twins are going to make a quick trip…. just 4 days. With 5 kids to deal with, we think that will be enough! We are looking forward to showing the California boys the dinosaur bones at the museum and maybe find a place for them to see some real bison.
beautiful, as usual — how’s everything up north tonight?
lol — how cute. do they know that from personal experience?
portland still hasn’t hit 90 degrees at the airport this year — supposed to warm up again – today was a cloudy day on the river.
They warned me that the jalapenos were probably hot, hot, hot!
*heh* Most indubitably…! ;-)
sorry to be bailing early tonight but i’ve done a lotta walking these past couple days… time for me to elevate the leg and put a couple ice packs on it.
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight… hope to see ya tomorrow nite for cartoons
g’nite all
I think they’ve just been warned! But what’s so wonderful is that they are actually interested in food and now know the magic of actually growing food. We take them to the farmers market in Santa Barbara where we found these amazing Padron peppers that are such a delicious appetizer….. sauteed in olive oil, dusted with kosher salt … and consumed with gusto. Occasionally there will be one which is HOT….. the boys know what HOT means when it comes to food….. both spice-wise and temperature-wise. For just almost 4 year olds, they are food savvy.
Sweet dreams, Suz…! Good to hear it was a positive result…! *g*
Happy dreams, Suzanne……. colorful, interesting, comforting dreams.
That is so kewl, Dearie, their first steps in their culinary arts education…! ;-)
I know~ Isn’t it fun. What are you doing with your munchkin? I can’t remember how old he is now.
Already prepping for the Munchkin’s 1st Luau, the big one here in the Isles…! I’ll be griping about it for the next month…! ;-)
Ha! I’ll be looking forward to reading about it.
Well, looks like everyone has peeled off. Good-night, CT.
Sweet dreams, M’dear…!
Holy shirt, Sir Paul has aged…! Even my son grumbled at his pathetic stab at ‘Hey Jude’…! 8-(
Good morning, pups. This morning we have Blow, Nocera and Collins. Mr. Blow looks at what’s going on across the country and asks “Where’s the Outrage?” He says if the Democrats don’t pay more attention, Big Money and new state laws may just help the Republicans run away with the election. Mr. Nocera, in “Addressing Poverty in Schools,” says growing up poor may be the biggest source of stress for many public school children. An education initiative is tackling that problem head-on. Ms. Collins is in Minot, ND, “The Land of the Mega Voters.” She says North Dakota is mighty and unbowed. And its race for the Senate is nearly a dead heat and something to ponder this week other than Obama vs. Romney.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got waffles with maple syrup for breakfast. We had thunder yesterday, but not a drop of rain. Fingers crossed…
Here are a few things I learned from watching last night’s Opening Ceremonies:
Glastonbury Tor has a huge effing mutant tree on top of it. The industrial revolution was an unalloyed delight, and British history ended there (well, except for children’s books and music) and you can just STFU about that “dark, Satanic mills” line. (See below.) The Kinks were before the Beatles. Al Gore didn’t invent the internet (but he’s still fat). “Jerusalem” is, in fact, the unofficial English national anthem. The National Health Service is a source of unalloyed pride in Britain, which is why they are busily dismantling it.
Did I miss any important lessons?
