We are early on in Mitt Romney’s trip overseas to show what a diplomat he is, and it’s gone really well…for the Obama Administration. It takes a lot of thoughtless effort to get Boris Johnson over the irony of mocking you for being a dumb loudmouth. But Mitt’s the man for the job.
And to think this is but the first leg.
Soon Mitt will visit Poland, a trip the seems to have the same comedic potential as the time Jimmy Carter let Billy translate for him. Maybe he’ll criticize union movements?
And then it is on to Israel. Now, one would think that will go okay because Mitt has already stated if he’s elected President Bebe Netanyahu will run his middle east policy.
And yet…here’s Mitt in April 2012:
Israel’s current prime minister is not just a friend. He’s an old friend.
But here is that alleged “old friend” this month:
“I remember him for sure, but I don’t think we had any particular connections,” he tells me. “I knew him and he knew me, I suppose.”
Well that could be awkward.

Carville on the subject.
I’m almost out of popcorn & he’s not even the official candidate yet.
Where are his handlers.
Rmoney is off to a rip roaring start with the Israelis…
Romney to Haaretz: Military option on Iran should not be ruled out — On the eve of his visit to Israel, in an exclusive interview with Haaretz, presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney asserts that Iran is the biggest threat to the world, reaffirms Israel’s right to exist…
The banksters like Mitt — eight of his nine top donors (in the Open Secrets list) are banksters. The fact that he has a hard time pandering to anyone is probably worth less than the fact that the people to whom Obama panders pander to him.
And I really can’t ascribe much to the activities of the Cherry Pick Mitt Romney Movement. I really don’t think most of the Republican Party cares who Mitt Romney is. He’s the “other guy” in the referendum they’re hoping to hold on Obama’s policies, which as we all know are so great that Obama can’t be bothered to promote them very much this year.
Romney is clearly covering ground upon which Obama has already trod.
Morning, eCAHN, I tried to leave you this article on Bandar Bush on the Roundup, but it ate 3 comments from 2 separate computers…! 8-(
New Saudi spymaster marks shift in policy
From your link.
That should bode well for the future. /s
presstv just reran its segments on demonstrations in Saudi Arabia and AQ in Syria. As for demonstrations, I forgot that the Saudis arrested an important cleric (not stated but I think Shia) awhile ago which triggered demos.
This is the guy the Bush family called “Bandar Bush,” no?
Yes.
His “deputy” (hard to find his name; go to thread for yesterday’s news roundup; fatster seems to have dug it up) was recently assassinated by a suicide bomber, and there were NO reports in main western press.
Lots going on in Saudi Arabia that western press doesn’t cover.
One thing that presstv is all over is that Myanmar is conducting ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslim minority & Suu Kyi is silent on it. On the headline summary, they said that the minority lives near where resources are & must be cleared out before Myanmar opens up to development. Suu Kyi’s refusal to speak out reflects her political aspirations. Apparently the Buddhists regard Rohingyas as subhuman.
I had a really bad feeling with the sudden turnaround in Myanmar. Now we are finding out just a bit of what is really going on in the aftermath of Hillary’s visit.
Rohingyas cannot be citizens of Myanmar. Neighboring countries trying not to allow refugees in.
morning from cool and wet NW PA. Also have Press on, nice way to learn with intelligent commentary what’s happening.
Rmoney says he’s going to take down the MLK Jr. bust and return Churchill to his rightful place in the oval office. The fella is barmy.
presstv reminds me of the qualities that U.S. news used to show a half a century ago. RT somewhat, but not as much. Going more for the glitzy look.
Haven’t watched much Bill Press since he insulted me at the book salon.
Missed that. I got totally blown off by Helen Thomas, but must say I didn’t take it personally. And, let’s face it, book salon format doesn’t exactly help guests to guess who is serious and who’s posturing.
True enough but when it was pointed out to him that I wasn’t posturing, (by several people), he still didn’t walk the insult back. Now, I admit the format isn’t able to properly convey meaning and we all know that less than half of communication is composed of the actual words but that was uncalled for.
Good morning, pups. This morning we have Brooks and Krugman. Well, today we get the first of what I pray will be very few of Bobo’s ruminations on the Olympics. In “The Olympic Contradiction” he gurgles that the Olympics are a peaceful celebration of our warlike nature and a good example of how being contradictory leads to success. No, the whole thing doesn’t make any much more sense. Prof. Krugman has a question in “Money for Nothing:” Why do the markets love government debt? The answer might tell us something important about the nature of our economic troubles.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got the omelet station set up with whatever filling you’re in the mood for. I’m so jealous of Ruth Calvo I could squeal. “Cool and wet” are words we haven’t been able to use in, well, almost forever. Today we have another heat advisory. They say the heat index will be around 110° but my guess is it’s actually higher. Yesterday afternoon it was 102° in the shade, so in the sun, with the humidity factored in, my guess is higher than 110. I’ve just about given up on even trying to keep anything alive in the back garden. I’m off to feed the kittens. Have a great day.
Mitt has asked if he could lay the cornerstone of the new temple in Jerusalem.
Of course his book was “The Obama Hate Machine” and he was under attack by our very own anybody but Obama trolls at the time but he made an assumption and when it was clearly stated that he was wrong about me, he still never even addressed it. We all make mistakes but then it’s up to us to correct them, to double down or just to ignore them. Press chose the third option. I understand why he made that error, what I object to is him not correcting it.
It’s time for the grown-ups in the GOP agree that Mitt was a huge mistake, and draft someone else.
Like the Man on the White Horse.
Thanks, Marion, and I’m sorrrreeeee, but after last summer in the hellhole of N.TX. under our heat dome, I was not about to do that again. And thanks for reading Bobo so we don’t have to.
Having never been on the receiving end of a barrage of questions from strangers, I can’t even guess how you keep up with all those strands going at once. Like you, I think the guests should take care about mistaking one questioner for another sort – but know that would be taking some one else’s word for what some other party actually means, and how to tell that THAT is worthy? The trolls do their act, and it’s hard to figure out which commenter is real and which one is promoting an agenda no matter how it stretches reality.
LMAO! Patreaus? Seriously?
Don’t go all Bill Press on me. At least, not this early in the morning.
I know all of that of course, I’m not blind. Not everybody is as scrupulous about correcting their mistakes either but I can’t help the way I feel, just the way I react to it.
That isn’t even worthy of a comment. When have I ever called you names?
Think I’ll bid you all an early good day.
Good day.
Watch out, next it’s going to be the SEAL who set up offing OBL, McRaven, since he’s the talking heads’ darling of the moment.
And yes, you can only handle your part of any interaction. I refuse to read Jim Hightower since he pumped for Nader against Gore and Bush.
What an outstanding Statement by the Veterans For Peace…! I salute them…!
No offense intended.
From Marion’s link, wow, Bobo is realllly only able to read the memo from the right side of the issues;
‘Politics has become a contest of monomaniacs. One faction champions austerity while another champions growth. One party becomes the party of economic security and the other becomes the party of creative destruction.’
creative destruction is about economic security, however mangled it can get in specific instances. Nobody is against growth.
Reading for meaning might help. Maybe.
presstv doing good special on African migration to Europe thru Libya.
I said last night on Cocktailhag’s post that MittBot is in contention with John Cleese to be Upper Class Twit of the Year. I think he “won” that yesterday in London.
That said, the majority of US citizens won’t know about his gaffes and/or won’t give a shit, especially conservatives who’ve been directed by Rushbo to vote for MittBot… or else.
I fled suppressing my screams last night from my MiL’s tv room when she flipped the channel to Fake and there was Piggy KKKarl Rove tirading about the BLAH in the White House. No love lost by me on Obama, but couldn’t take even 10 seconds of that bloated tyrannical treasonous bastard’s bullshit.
Scary stuff. Effects of the developed countries’ keeping other countries from developing their own industries, and keeping them dependent on the industries we own, still being played out.
hmmmm… interesting. Well all politicians eventually know where to butter their bread, and Suu Kyi, for all of her heroism, has her weak points just like they all do.
I visited Myanmar many years ago when it was still called Burma. Interesting but very very poor country with lots of repression (goes without saying). There’s tons of “tribals” in that part of the world, not just in Myanmar but all over the golden triangle. Using their religious affiliation as a “reason” to oust them from wherever they live is as good of an excuse as any, when it’s time to get the resources.
Myanmar not only is in a sweet spot for heroin production and distribution, but yes, there’s loads of, as yet, untapped resources in them thar hills… believe it. As with Afghanistan, they’ll need to build a TON of infrastructure to get said resources. Your USA tax dollah$$ at work for the 1% again per usual.
The resources of Myanmar, untapped, are promising in many areas. Somehow I don’t see the drug trade as a major object of any of the rising political groups in that country.
No offense intended, but I wholeheartedly disagree about the drug trade in the Golden Triangle. It’s HUGE & hugely lucrative. Definitely factored in as part of the resources of interest, just like in Afghanistan.
After all, the CIA was (perhaps still is??) making a TON of money offa the heroin trade outta the Golden Triangle during Viet Nam. I’m sure the spooks still have their connections going in that part of the world, don’t you worry.
JMHO, of course.
