Hiya, Dragonman and pups. Rub that sleep from your eyes and let’s get the day underway! Beautiful, sunny and ~cool~ here in NW Indiana!
Mornin’, pups
Finally some nice typical cool summer weather here in Cleveland.
Glad I don’t live in Florida no more.
Good Morning, Dragon and Hot Doggies
MsMolly sure sounds chipper this morning.
Glad the heat has broken in some areas.
Just had brekkie, getting ready to go on an early bike ride. When it’s 67º instead of 103º it kinda makes one a bit more chipper!
Good morning.
democracynow continues its biased coverage on Syria with that expat shill for the NSA.
RE item #9 in the list up top, I sent the link to my son. Back when he had his own software company he was trying to sell software to the BIO folks and had to attend their convention in DeeCee. I’m sure glad he’s not doing THAT any more.
I see Lay’s has replaced high fructose corn syrup in their Baked Lay’s chips with corn sugar.
Makes perfect sense to me.
I’ve been walking in the park at around 10 in the morning, but this week I’m switching the start time to 9 am, as it is getting warmer every day. Still cooling during the night which is refreshing and Chipper making. :)
That bio tech immunity is one of the first shout outs of the TPP. The other was TransCanada using eminent domain to seize American land for the XL Keystone tar pipeline
I’m no constitutional scholar but to allow ANYONE to have immunity from sovereign law seems like treason to me.
Oh, and a guten morgan to all the firepups..
Let’s see if Obama can pull this one off:
Obama pushing for partial extension of Bush-era tax cuts
My bike-riding buddy Anita is out of town until Wednesday, and I’m watering her (many) plants and flowers while she’s away. So I am riding my bike to her house (about 5.75 miles), watering everything, and then continuing around one of my normal bike routes. 15 miles!
Still no rain in the forecast here for the next week!
Good morning SD and all the matinal pups: That was quite a Salon Saturday with Bill Press and his sidekick. He must have anticipated a hornet’s nest, but clearly underestimated the number of hornets. On his comment about the election of Nixon over Humphrey, it would have been nice for someone to have reminded him that Humphrey was, you know, an actual liberal with a record to back him up on it. Unlike the present resident in the White House. As to the book itself, it would have been better for him to pitch it as a tract on negative advertising in general, rather than anti-Obama advertising in particular.
A chip by any other name would taste as sweet.
LOL. I don’t usually eat that stuff. Not that I’m a saint, diet-wise, but I try, and fortunately I don’t have much of a taste for snack foods. When my grandkids visit, I buy the most healthful snacks I think they’ll eat, and then send the unused stuff home with them. I usually try to have fruit on hand for them instead of junk.
You’re a good friend, Molly. I’m sure Anita will have a more pleasant trip knowing that her plants are being cared for. Without good friends and kind family, what would we do?
I agree. Fortunately, the comments were tough but nobody got nasty. But I’ll bet Press was surprised.
On a not totally unrelated topic I have had two conversations over the past ten days that bring home just how uninformed even the most informed part of our public are. My brother, who until around the year 2000 election was far more liberal –i.e., radical — than I was — told me with a very straight face that the Obamacare Act was the best Obama could get because of Republican opposition. He gets his news mostly from PBS and NPR. His wife, who has severe arthritis is in the prescription drug ‘doughnut hole,’ which I am given to understand was not eliminated.
The other conversation was with a woman I’ve known for 40 years who was precinct ward chairman in New Haven in the 60s and a strong supporter of Gene McCarthy. She ran a big piece of the Yale Library and by almost any standards except that of FDL is well-informed. Same story about Obama and the Republicans, and an almost complete denial of the reality that has become the United States over the past 30 years. I think this is true of the vast majority of Liberals, of whom Press is a typical example. You can’t be mad at them (well, you can be angry with Press because he actually has access to information), because they get their information from ‘liberal’ outlets like the NYT, Wapo, PBS and NPR. It’s a closed circle. I don’t know why Press got his undies twisted because we are not supporting Obama. We are so few, it doesn’t matter. He should be getting his undies twisted by the attempts by Republican governors to roll back the right of poor people to vote.
Horrifying…
Obama’s Administration Killed a 16-Year-Old American and Didn’t Say Anything About It. This Is Justice?
Good morning, Knut and pupses. Thank you,SD, I always look forward to pushing open the door to the Diner in the morning. (Not just because of the air conditioning and the heavenly smell of the coffee, either)
He should be getting his undies twisted by the attempts by Republican governors to roll back the right of poor people to vote.
I’m not usually a knit picker, but do you know that he’s not upset about that? I read the Salon after the fact, but I don’t remember whether that was discussed.
Medicare beneficiaries who fell into the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug “doughnut hole” received a $250 rebate. They receive a 50% discount on brand name drugs in 2011, and the doughnut hole is eliminated in 2020.
(from a summary of the ACA changes)
Oh, I know why. Pick me! Pick me!
Jigsaw puzzles.
(Am I correct?)
I was a little surprised, though, by how insensitive both guests were to throwing around the ‘whine’ and ‘scared’ words. Insensitive is being polite.
Not that I’m NOT upset about that, mind you, but I am more upset about the Republican governors who have said they won’t accept the Medicaid expansion, which is fully paid by the government for 3 years and at 90% thereafter. So they’re throwing sick and elderly under the bus just to make a point.
I can’t imagine this won’t cause a huge backlash when people begin to understand what’s happening.
Former progressives haven’t figured out that the wingnuts took over what they considered to be their reliable news sources. And progressives have done nothing to reveal how far rightward those news sources have become.
Yes, I was surprised by that, too. Could be that’s their typical language, but it sure didn’t translate well to the typed words.
Nice to hear Chris Hayes at least TRY to counter the lies that WSJ guy was spouting yesterday. And his (Chris’s) expressions on that split screen were priceless.
G”Morning All…I better wake up again….I just commented Have a good day on previous thread but thought I was here….Waking up slooowly. So, Have a good one. We have a rain forecast for all week; we’ll see. Cheers, kids.
I hear other countries are clamoring for these drones. thinks we’ll sell them? Make a little more $$$ on the killing fields?
I agree. And, I also think that we’ll be hearing more questions and discussions about State V. Fed power/control.
Bill Press and his ilk have no idea what’s going on because they’re first-class passengers on a perpetual Nation Magazine cruise.
*blert!*. That would be right up there! And your rapier wit :). You always leave me standing in the dust! And I admit I like to squeeze in next to SD and oldnslow and inhale that great scent of tobacco from the cigarette packs rolled up in their t-shirt sleeves. I love the smell of tobacco. Pipes and cigars, too.
It wasn’t discussed. I was making a point about what is really important and what is not important.
As a former 2-pack-a-day smoker (quit back in the ’70s), I don’t like the smell at all. Yuk. To each his own, I guess.
But by the time they understand it will be too late.
A friend of mine says old people will be out in the streets if the gov cuts medicare and SS, but old people are generally not too peppy esp in this heat.
And they sure don’t know how to work a computer to find out more.
Morning!
OhMyGosh! I bet they are so happy they are at the Bohemian Grove annual retreat. Surely they are dancing nekkid around the giant wise owl named Lucifer.
Is there any end to the Parasitics?
Sorry about the dust. Here, have a wet wipe.
I guess I’ll wait until we mostly finish this morning before I sweep and mop the Diner’s floor. :)
Like the PBS tv blurb before a Nature show- sponsored by David H. Koch – to “advance the public’s understanding of science.”
*spit*
I realize the point you were making, but my point was that we should stick to what we know for a fact. If it wasn’t discussed, you don’t really know that his knickers are not in fact twisted about the voter elimination.
Ding.
Or the Enron commercials during Up!.
de-lurking to say good morning.
Good morning all.
That’s kind of a generalization. I am 69, and my friends and I are all pretty peppy and have iPhones and computers and iPads. I’m not insulted, but you might want to rethink that assumption.
morning, and thanks, SD, here we’re getting soaking rain, and I ran out to bring in the wash. Will head for PA later anyway, do not think the heat wave is past tense.
There are huge advantages to watching Up! online. No commercials (thanks to AdBlock Plus), instant replay if you missed something, and watching while sitting on the screened porch with a big glass of lemonade!
Knut,
I attended. I had planned not to comment, but couldn’t help myself. I really think he is in the older mode of support your Liberal wing regardless because the other side is evil.
Otherwise, I don’t think he could brush away many of the comments. How can you support politicians that refuse to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights unless you are in that state of mind?
these young’uns just have no ideee, here we old fokes are on our computers before they’ve got their eyes open properly. (68 here)
Cigarettes don’t smell as good after they are lit, I don’t think, but cigars and pipes, yes. I haven’t smoked pot since college, but I can remember, in exquisite detail, the taste and smell.
msmolly, do you have to ride on the roads with cars, or do you usually ride on bike paths?
Saved you a seat, if you can stay a minute…. *g*
Politics as team sport.
Definitely!
I know, I know. Different strokes.
Same here. Couldn’t not say something. He was forced to agree with much of what we had to say. eCAHN, cant’t remember your question, but you asked him to substantiate one of his claims and he could not, but didn’t have the grace to admit it.
Oh yeah, now pot is a different matter! LOL. Actually the smell of unsmoked tobacco is pleasant, and pipe smoke is OK (my ex smoked a pipe for a lot of years), but I just dislike the smell in the cars and on the clothing of smokers.
I ride a combination of not-too-busy city streets with cars (I hug that white line on the side and most cars give me a wide berth), some residential streets, and some very nice bike paths South Bend has installed, along with some nice bike lanes on the city streets. My fave runs along the St. Joseph river and is pretty and leafy and used by bikers and walkers/joggers.
Not even taking a whole day off from the road, eh, what? You must enjoy road trips alot. Nice that you have a good safe driver. :)
PS – I really enjoyed the photos.
Skipping – I thought the FDA turned down the industry request to call HFC corn sugar. So, they’re doing it anyway?
Rule of law is near death, I fear. Great thing to wake up to.]
Msmolly: we got your heat yesterday – not sure if it reached predicted 103, but it sure was hot. I made it to the pool with a friend, but we left early as it appeared a thunderstorm was gathering over our heads. Temp had dropped near ten degrees as I drove home. Never heard a storm where I am, but it has obviously rained overnight. And now I gotta get my buns moving. Just had to check something online, and couldn’t resist droppping by when peeps were here. Enjoy your rides, molly!
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Dang, here you are with all us over-60′s, and stil have that stereotype? Which is way too widespread…that may have applied to former old people…such as my mother (93) who can’t even type, but not to younger old people. There’s been a dramatic change in generations, and you can’t lump everybody over 60, say, into one group. And there are over 90′s who are computer-savvy, too, if only because they want to keep in touch with the grandkids, so they have learned and discovered the great intertoobz for themselves.
ok, lecture over. You might wanna pass it on to your friend.
I asked him to give me one example of what O has done to hold Wall St. accountable.
He could have said Dodd-Frank, but I’m guessing he doesn’t know the details.
Drat, why did I go back up to read?
Knut, the doughnut hole IS eliminated in the ACA. You might want to inform yourself before pontificating.
Hi and good to see you, tejanarusa!! I always read your comments later and enjoy keeping up with your legal work.
It’s to be in the high 80s most of the week, but that’s much more typical of summer here. It’s the lack of rain that is worrisome!
So good to see you in real time! Have a good one!
Safe driver??? Brahahaha.
Morning kids.
Off in front of a second wave of heat now in the western states. Yep, the road trip is great, not about to stop while it’s hot here and cool there.
Not until 2020. I commented to that effect upthread.
Is this the “real” spudtruckowner and not Ruth using your ID? LOL. How is your mom?
Would you kindly leave me my fantasy that you are taking good safe care of my friend? :)
I’ll just pack up this fresh chopped zucchini and tomato salad for Ms. Calvo for the road. You can stop somewhere and get a cheeseburger.
Buy one for me too, please.
You’re going to make me check the mirror aren’t you. She sounded tired yesterday on the phone.
Sorry. I guess I got my logistics incorrect.
Yum! Be right over.
Recovered from surgery and home from the hospital? Where is she? The heat has everyone tired and draggy. I can’t believe how good it felt when the heat broke here and I could turn off the AC and open windows!!
Hope her recovery is going well.
I’ve been searching for the Paraquay link I read last week. Can’t seem to find it now, but the Bush’s and other wealthy folks being landowners and such are causing the people there lots of concern. Doesn’t look good for the Peasants of Paraguay.
We might wish to keep an eye or two on the situation.
But, the recent health reform law- the Affordable Care Act-has some important changes that will help to relieve this burden for the people with Medicare that hit the donut hole each year (and are not already on a program called Medicare Extra Help,):
This year, if you enter the Part D donut hole, you will receive a one-time, $250 rebate check. The mailing of these checks began in June. If you are eligible and do not receive your check, call your Part D plan first and then 1-800-Medicare.
Starting in 2011, you will receive a 50% discount on brand-name drugs in the donut hole, and you will start to pay less and less for your generic Part D drugs in the donut hole.
Starting in 2013, you will pay less and less for your brand-name Part D prescription drugs in the donut hole.
By 2020, the coverage gap will be closed, meaning there will be no more “donut hole,” and you will only pay 25% of the costs of your drugs until you reach the yearly out-of-pocket spending limit.
Throughout this time, you will get continuous Medicare Part D coverage for your prescription drugs as long as you are on a prescription drug plan.

She put fuckin onions in my fried egg sammich this am, and the war continues.
Morning, folks. The biotechnology immunity bill by Rep. Kingston of Georgia (R-Okefenokee) is rather staggering isn’t it. Give ‘em some money and anoint them “legislator of the year” and they eat out of your hand and pass the text you’ve written.
Here’s a link to an article: Beat The Summer Heat: How To Celebrate Nude Recreation Week, July 9-15. Reminded me of Peggy’s latest PUAC.
Thank you. I’m thinking it was from the heat in Pa.
See, teaching him to cook is moving along.
Can just see you two whizzing down Route 66 with t shirts flapping from the radio antenna…..
Envy you this great road trip!
I’ll leave the light on.
There’s also some leftover fresh fruit and yogurt pie I made for desert last night. It’s was refreshing and tasty. But, it certainly wasn’t Death By Chocolate.
(I’m trying to be good about what we’re eating.)
It is a grand image isn’t it? Also, I imagine the flames of the heat in the background and the beckoning cool weather inviting them along.
Yeah, well here in my state they are celebratin that Jim Demented is going to be the Teahadist leader in the senate.
Well, gee, let me just pause and hit my Staples ‘That was easy!” button.
Like some iconic 1930′s Travel poster or luggage sticker…
Actually, to hang them in the windows gives shade and dries at the same time.
G’morning.
I have Gala apple suckers (what my mom calls slices)
LOL!
Love ya, Ruth. I pictured Lucy and Desi on vacation. (grins)
You know, OmAli, you’re as imaginative and witty as anyone!
Oh Wow. You can start an orchard!
That sounds so good. Never heard them called suckers before :)
How is Max?
Blue jay came for bird seed this morning. Haven’t had a “big bird” (blue Jay or cardinal) for a while.
Lol!
He’s at the vet as of 7:30 and I get to call after noon.
I know she won’t hate me for it. Ruth and I go back long time. :-)
More like Ralph and Alice.
*waves to SharonMI* Hoping for the best for Max.
Gotta go, friends. The bike is calling, and it’s already up to 78º. The last half mile is a killer if it gets too warm, because it’s uphill and no shade. So I will see you all “around town.” Have a good ‘un.
Whoa! LOL!
“Eat my Grits!” Style?
LOL!
*poof*
I just googled and no one else has ever heard of suckers used that way either. Mind you, this is from the woman who named me Sharon convinced that it means Mary in Irish. All my sisters have Mary or Marie in their names. That’s my Mama!
Well, the Diner is open 24 hrs and we check back in from time to time during the day for a snack or drink and a visit, so let us know, ok? Sending good thoughts to both of you.
We’ve been known to show up in the middle of the night, too, come to think of it. Nice to know the door is always open :). Thanks, SD.
Oh, no. I got it now. Jackie style. ROTFLMAO!
We sure do. I think you were around when it was flooding here, and I would take out the garbage carrying a bar of soap and come back all showered? Now off to do last minute things before taking off again – love you all!
I gotta dispatch recording agents in all different directions.
Have a good day all.
Much love back, RC and STO.
Be safe, have fun, and take more photos to share with us not on the road folks. And, no more onions in the brekky.
Get them out there, you dispatcher, you.
I’m pondering and cyphering on that one! Your mom sounds like a trip. The very good kind :)
Hmmmm, though. Sharon. Rose of Sharon. Wondered if that tree’s name could have had a biblical connection with Mary? Looked at wiki though and didn’t see anything that would confirm that.
How neat, though, Sharon is Irish for Mary. I’m going to remember that, it is bound to come in handy in the future :)
Looks like I’m poofing too. Got a few things to do around here before I head down to the park. Especially the outdoor watering.
I’ll check back later to see if there’s a Max update. Hold tight, Sharon.
(((Ruth)))) and LOL!
I’m out, too.
Safe travels and safe home, all you little pupses out there. See you later.
Your
Ohmmmm
I read through the Book Salon thread.
Molly is correct that the individual comments were not In and of themselves objectionable. But, when taken as a whole, they were at a minimum discourteous.
Bill Press was invited to Book Salon to discuss his book. The thread was highjacked and Book Salon’s guest was, for all intents and purposes, not allowed to do so.
Occupy Bohemian Grove
http://www.occupybohemiangrove.com/
I grew up about 5 minues drive up the river from Bohemian Grove. I’ve heard a story or two…
I was actually born on St. Patrick’s Day (and my dad was Irish) so when my cousin treated me my last birthday to a Blackthorn concert, I took the opportunity at a break to ask the one guy raised in Ireland if Sharon meant Mary. He looked very confused and said no. I DID learn how to pronounce slainte from him.
Elections have consequences. Mostly worse and worser.
Sharon – best thoughts for Max!
“Sharon means Mary in Irish!” LOL.
But I wonder, –no time to look up, gotta go try to spring somebody from ICE detention in a few — if Rose of Sharon is one of the names/epithets for Mary in one of the litanies. There are a heck of a lot of names in there, if it’s one, maybe that’s where she got the idea?
Anyway, if I sounded cranky earlire, well, I’m sorry. I do not wake up cheery and smiley like some. Especially when it’s raining, hot and muggy.
See y’all later; have a good day.
We were on the same Rose of Sharon trail *g* but it went nowhere, at least from what I saw in the wiki. More fun this way though, the notion. Thank you, Sharon’s mom!
edit: to SharonMI @ 111
I’d love a good phonetic pronunciation of that. Have heard it so many times, but just can’t remember it. Maybe if I had something to visualize…
My grandmother was born in Canada, parents just off the boat from Ireland. County Antrim. Love Irish music, too.
LOL! I am one of the annoying early cheery risers *g* and just laughed out loud at that spelling. Looks very Irish, to meee!
I’m lucky to be another one. We open our eyes, feet hit the ground and we are off and running.
And, now, I’m off to the park. No running for me though. A nice medium walk will do.
Running amok, more like it. LOL! Have fun and enjoy the (relatively) cool.
Think anyone would notice if I washed the mugs in cold water this morning? Don’t tell. This one has a rather questionable Large Hadron Collider letter inversion….
For Sharon and Max
I had such a crush on Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, playing guitar there, in the red. Oh my.

Cold water’s fine for freshly coffeed cups, I’m pretty sure. At least we’re not using styrofoam to go cups. The Green Diner. :)
(Waiting for Sonny to finish his breakfast, then we’re out. He even set his alarm clock last night when I mentioned it would be better to leave earlier.) Cool Kid loves his mom.
Here’s a site that has audio of 4 people saying it.
I remember (misremember?) it being something like “slon chuh”
http://www.forvo.com/word/sl%C3%A1inte/
Listening to Loreena McKennitt once, I thought, you could bellydance to this. Then I saw someone at a Hafla doing so. Here’s a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kEoxEWXRpk
9/11 happened only a month after I moved back to the Detroit area, and I was appalled at the anti-Arab sentiments so pervasive at the time. When I saw a bellydance class at a community center, I thought “I’m gonna celebrate my Arabic sisters” and I’ve always loved blingy earrings and sequins and such so it was a perfect fit. I’m not as good as this woman, but I’ve gotten better over the years. DVD videos are my main trainers now. The best part: all ages and sizes of (mostly) women are seen in classes and at shows. Even an eight-months-pregnant dancer celebrated her mate and baby on stage.
The voice on the phone at the vet’s office said Max did well and is “resting comfortably” so I ought to be able to get him at 4:30. Whew, the anesthesia always scares me. Now to pick up and vacuum before he comes home!
That is great news! I don’t think he is going to fuss at you about vacuuming, lol!… hope you will just be able to relax and enjoy the relief.
Loved the links, thank you. Off to an appt, see you guys later.
Sounds like good news to me!
I’m back from what turned into a very hot bike ride, 16 miles and the last mile or so very little shade. I’ve got to get outta the Diner and onto the bike earlier than nearly 10 a.m. It’s 85º now, and pleasant on my screened porch with a big glass of fresh lemonade!
That’s great news. I am surprised they didn’t want to keep him overnight, which is an even better sign. The anesthesia they use today is a lot different than what they used to use. None of that groggy hangover that could last a day or two. Now they’re pretty much right soon after they awaken.
Let us know what the vet says when you pick him up.
I actually hardly EVER vacuum using the kitty as an excuse (“he hates the noise”). Haha, thank God he’s not judgemental about housekeeping or we wouldn’t get along at all! And darned if he doesn’t lay down on every new bag that comes in and is deposited on the living room floor (a really bad habit of mine).
The longest I’ve ever biked was eleven miles (though it was so long ago I’m not sure if that was one way – so maybe it was 22 miles) but just thinking about 16 in hot temps makes me thirsty for some of your lemonade.
The woman said they’d see how he does this afternoon. I spoke with a new acquaintance who was a vet assistant for 15 years and she said they’d probably prefer me to take him home as then I could monitor his progress. Of course I want to be with him for moral support (for both of us :-)
Oh, excellent news! So glad for you. He’ll be glad to be home, and probably heal faster than if he had to stay. Good for Max.
Belly dancing, hmmm? Years ago I worked with a young woman who was taking lessons. She loved it; said, too, that having a flat belly was actually not a good thing in the art, that a little bit round was preferred. I’ve always remembered that. She gave a couple demos of what she was learning (to a nearly all-female office.) I think of her sometimes when TBogg puts up a Shakira video. *g*
It’s raining here, btw. Imagine! Been predicting it for three days, finally began overnight, though not with storms, unless I slept through them. Naturally, since I had to go out to the ICE office, it was pouring when we got there. Actually had my umbrella, though! And we’re all glad to get it, just preferably not on our good clothes….just on the garden and yard, please.
Okay, back to work again. Glad to hear about Max. Don’t be a stranger, SharonMI; you sound like the sort of interesting person we love having at the Diner (or Caturday).
Yay!!! for Max. And, Sharon too.
I’m back from the heat out there, but stopped at the market to get lots of fresh veggies and fruit.
Now, to go work in the yard for a bit. May have to fill up the kiddy wading pool to cool down in. I’ve got my little boom box with REM on, so as to give me a little encouragement.
Thank you again Dragon for the community.
The cw now is they recover better in the home environment than at the hospital but keeping them overnight after a surgical procedure is pretty common, they just don’t keep them 2-3 days like they used to.
They don’t keep we hoomans 2 – 3 days for much either, any more. For example, I had a laminectomy (opens up vertabrae to relieve nerve pressure from spinal stenosis) as an outpatient, and went for a walk that same afternoon. I was only hospitalized about 1-1/2 days for knee replacement.
Kittehs are different of course, but I suspect the same trend applies.
say that again six months from now,..ha
I juice half a lemon into a big glass of ice, dump in a packet of Splenda, and fill it up with water. Very refreshing after a ride, quick to make, and relatively healthful.
That’s a great idea, Molly. Might work with grapefruit or oranges too.
I have to go buy a bag of ice, and I mean soon. I’ve been using the leftovers from the camping trip. Yes, a pain in the ass, since the three minibags partially melted. But, I have a hammer in my top kitchen drawer. Ha!
But, it’s over. It’s time. It has to happen.
And, it’s only 11:30 here, but it is also significantly hotter than it has been for a few weeks.
I’ve got my walking done and also a little shopping and an hour an a half of yard work done, so I’m going to run out and get some ice and then…you know, stay inside.
Stay cool, MsMolly.
Oh, that sounds really good. I am going to hit the library, and now I’ll go to the thrifty grocer’s to check on lemons before getting Max.
Our hot weather must have passed on to your area. It was oppressively hot here in SW Michigan for a few days there. I actually got out before seven am a couple mornings to walk to avoid the heat. And one day I was nearly home but thought I should sit in the shade of a building for a little while. I was feeling a little like I did when in Salt Lake City when I was fifteen and nearly fell over with the heat (I backed up to sit/lean on a picnic table and some people dragged me into an air conditioned room).
Oops, the second part of my comment was for demi.
I just love the belly dance. I took many beginner classes, reached intermediate but then moved away. I found it fascinating that at the beginning of the class, students are all conservative and covered up, and then gradually they loosen up, and start wearing dangly jewelry and maybe showing their bellies a bit. That was certainly true for me, and I feel so much more comfortable in my skin. Funny, I even demo’d to the neighbor (Max’s baby-daddy haha) and he turned so red. It’s nice when you can show people it’s not sleazy at all but rather cool.
A few years ago when I was visiting my kids in Indianapolis we went to a Greek restaurant for dinner, and they featured a belly dancer. My granddaughters (probably then about 6 & 8 years old) were fascinated, and the lady was very nice to them. When we got home there was much belly dancing in the family room!
Aha! Now it’s clear why the *real* belly dancers I’ve seen have more belly than novelty belly dancers!
Max is sacked out on the floor, just at the time suggested I try to give him some Gerber baby food to see if he’ll toss it up, since hopefully I can give him a pill later. I think I’ll let him snooze a little.
Oh, he apparently read my mind and when I typed “food” or the rest, I noticed he was looking up….so he got his Gerber, yum. Good thing they told me not to give him too much or I would have let him have more. He hadn’t eaten since last night and it IS his favorite hobby.
How does he keep his sleek figure? Eating is my favourite habit, too. C’mon Max, what is your secret?
So glad things seem to be going so well.
If he’s anything like Abner, Max practices a little bulimia. Just enough to keep me, er, on my toes.
Yay that Max is home and taking bites of food. *scritches*
Oh, he is a bit tubby but not obese. Oh, he’s looking at me again. I swear he knows when I’m thinking/writing about him.
Actually the bad news is that he’ll probably need this procedure done on his other side. Oh well, at least THAT time, he’ll have one good leg to stand on (knock on wood).
He definitely has the binge part down.
And I can attest, that just like humans, if Max doesn’t eat, he has a little halitosis. Whew, thank goodness for Gerber chicken mush.
Lol! That wretched retching sound of hair balls in the night….
Do you remember back when FDL was doing its first membership drive, and people were telling their reasons for reading and joining? Wish ai had that thread at hand, it was so funny. Someone said reading FDL had improved his/ her sex life, someone else because it was one of the few places where one could find a real socialist, someone else said reading FDL had caused a 45 pound weight loss, lol! I love this place :)
FDL had me at hair balls.
Did you and mister finally decide on a new name for your establishment?
Ever the photogenic kitty, he picked the cutest place to sack out. This is his front end snoozing (no gruesome stuff, though actually his hind end doesn’t look bad either, the shaved portion is a square so if the hair grows back a different color, he’ll be “plaid cat.”)

We had a very dramatic late afternoon shower; did not last long. But certainly an event….with rain drops….
Hysterical…maybe tartan…who knows?
oh, that pill must be kicking in cuz he mosied a little and I didn’t hear any growling. I am sitting on my floor pretty much at his eye level so I’m missing nothing (and neither are you! Thanks for being here for me!)
Do you remember boys in their madras shorts, back in the day? Madras shorts and Oxford shirts, untucked. We used to cut the little loop off the back of their shirts as a sign of, what? Territory? Possession?
My mom is part Scottish so yeah, Max’d like that. Make him feel less adopted and more blood related.
Kittycam. He really is a beauty.
If you send me an email contact (to katdesignAThotmailDOTcom), I’ll send you a link to my facebook album of the recent classic car cruise. They are parked in the cute little downtown, so you can see the shops (I went to Caturday and digested that you said you like old architecture). You don’t need a facebook account to view my pictures.
shoot, that’s katdesign99AThotmailDOTcom
or is there a way through being friends on FDL?
Here’s a picture of a house and great car as I walked through a neighborhood toward downtown:

Here’s one of the better pictures showing buildings:

Thanks for the “don’t be a stranger”. I went to Caturday and saw your comment. I like your kitties’ names. I send good thoughts to your cats too.
I am doing a video marathon of movies that have good music….trying to think what would be soothing to Max. Well, after Moulin Rouge, I put in The Commitments. Max walked ~8 feet without too much obvious misery to get closer to me and the tv. And now he’s curled up sans pillow.
That’s a day waaaay back….Thanks.;)
Awwwwww. That’s so sweet.
As to music, I’ve always found my kitties, over the years, seem to like classical music, or smooth jazz (no 1812 Overture, plz!
To the extent it’s possible to tell, that is.
Uh-oh, speaking of rain, I hear thunder! And there goes the 2nd kitteh, heading to the bedroom and…under the bed! They’ve recently developed this fear of thunder, dunno why.
Hope Max is still doing well. You paint a nice picture of him, enjoying being home with his hooman.
As OmAli mentioned Oxford shirts with the madras shorts, I thought instantly of cutting off the “locker loops.”
Why did we do that, I wonder? Don’t remember, at all. But it seemed to be the thing to do…at the time.
Definitely dating ourselves, aren’t we? Heh.
Loved the photo links and I will send you an email, thanks. That house had such unusual windows, it was great.
Other than being friends like we are on FDL I’m not sure what other sort of features there are. Friends can check to see what threads their friends have posted on, but nothing other than that, far as I know.
Smooth Jazz! Lol. Real cooool catz.
