hey dearie — how’s the so central coast tonight? was a clear sunny day today — a day to leave the front door open and give the house an airing out. supposed to be like this for the the next week or so
Very, warm, very quiet! Had a lakeside dinner with MSCE and Ted — fog lifted and the lake was revealed. I find it hard to remember that we live on water.
what a wonderful sounding evening. i’m sitting here listening to all sortza gunfire sounding off in competition with the boom and whistle of fireworks. thank goodness my neighbor let me know that handgun fire tends to happen on the fourth… finally starting to ease up — both the blowing stuff up and the gun fire…. ah, small town rural living
We’ve had a couple of days of June-Gloom, but I enjoyed a nice cook out at a friend’s house with additional friends in attendance. Couldn’t even see the fireworks in the harbor because the fog was so thick. But….hey, we have electricity and cool. I am NOT complaining. “:)
Do random bullets manage to never strike pure innocents? So strange, really, to think that people just fire away. Freedom! USA…USA…USA… gag, gag,…… oh sorry about that.
113 in Toronto? Man, that’s…err, evidence. of climate change, of course.
Only hit 97 here today, with breezes. Spent much of day on patio, with cats. Thunderstorms were predicted, but didn’t happen.
One thing on my mind…years of watching the Boston Pops Fourth concert spoiled for good by moving it to network tv. It doesn’t even start until the end of the concert! They call it the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, pretty much ignoring the music. Current tv “star” hosts, pop songs…ruint, I tell ya, ruint. I turned it off.
Put on my Vanguard Collectors Edition of folk songs, instead. I’m pretty close to cancelling cable altogether, so little to watch.
up here the term is june-uary. had a lotta june-uary days this year. the local station broadcasting the fireworks at ft vancouver has no sound — don’t know if its a direct tv glitch or at the station and direct tv does not carry *sob* Northwest Cable News which always simulcasts the seattle show — this is the first year i’ve not seen seattle’s show live since i moved up here.
I think there’s less gunfire here since a little girl was killed by a bullet coming down from who knows where maybew 15 years ago. It was a big shock to the city, and maybe a wakeup call to some of the fools.
Watching some fireworks show. I never could ‘get’ Taylor Swift, but I find Katy Perry to be quite intriguing. Is that the ‘old’ factor?? Or is that the ‘rebellious’ factor??
I’m good. Goofed off mostly today; didn’t make it to the pool or anywhere. Most neighbors out, so we (the cats and I) enjoyed the outdoors. But I was tired..took an afternoon nap — and didn’t get around to grilling or anything. Treated myself to dessert – Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate with bananas, a little while ago.
Not terribly sleepy, but better go to bed anyway. The kittehs have had so much fresh air they’re already sacked out. There was some fuss and disagreement over whether it was time to come in…but calmed down now.
Glad to hear you are cool, as usual. Shocking about Toronto…I always say this time of year that I’d like to summer in Canada…now where am I gonna go? (in fantasy, at least)
Guns and more guns. Sometimes even I, moderate old broad, get an itch to get a gun. But, no. Maybe it’s the Catholic Guilt, or something, but I’m sure I’d be the one who shot up the wrong person for the wrong reason. I’ll just take on the intruders with my rolling pin.
a day spent goofing off is a great day in my book tejan. so glad you stayed up and stopped by but totally understand about those forking alarm clocks in the morning….
Me, too. I can’t walk by a door without catching a purse strap or a scarf end on the doorknob, drop things all the time…can’t imagine being safe around a gun. Would shoot myself or one of the cats.
And now, I’d better run off to bed. Nice to see so many folks here tonight!
Exactly. I cannot make sense of Taylor, though she seems like a sweet girl. I can’t think of a song that she sings or what made her popular. Katy, on the other hand, is a shit kicker of the Fundie kind….. I get a kick out of her having to step out of Pentecostal nirvana to find her own damned self…and I actually like her music. I may be old, but I can rock!
at the bottom of the first link is a photo from one angle but that second link one is forking awesome…. at first he thought a yacht blew up in coronado according to the comment timeline on the right hand side…. holy moly
I have guns, two of them. Identical weapons. Haven’t fired them in a year or so, but I’ve had the first one for 40 years. I can hit what I shoot at.
I will protect my family. I live in a shitty neighborhood, and my worst feat is someone pounding on the door in the middle of the night, trying to escape the cops. If they break the door down, I’ll shoot to kill. I will not risk the health of my family for anyone or anything.
I am not trying to be macho, but I will protect what I love. The rest of the world can fuck off.
No problem, TG; I was just always kind of afraid that I’d accidentally shoot one of my own. But, in general, I’m not particularly fearful. Random break-ins are pretty rare, and I figure there are many better houses than mine to break into. I guess I just choose not to live in fear. But, hey, that’s just me.
Some random firecrackers going off, but way less than usual. My dog is happy about that. I like the display the city puts on…just not fond of the Whump! sound of incoming fireworks near my house.
sorry to bail early tonight pups but i was up at eight forking thirty this morning and didn’t even have a good reason or excuse for doing so…. i hate it when that happens :)
Happy Independence Day, Friends !
petro! how’s toronto tonight dood?
Hey, Suz, how’s your neck of the woods, as it were? Hope all is well…. and comfortably green.
hey dearie — how’s the so central coast tonight? was a clear sunny day today — a day to leave the front door open and give the house an airing out. supposed to be like this for the the next week or so

Blistering hot ! We’re gonna hit 113 F on Friday.
It’s so hot that I saw a Margarita drinking a Daquiri … *g*
Very, warm, very quiet! Had a lakeside dinner with MSCE and Ted — fog lifted and the lake was revealed. I find it hard to remember that we live on water.
yowza that’s way too forking hot…. that’s so hot i would rather be in the margarita than have the margarita in me…

That was a shock to me when I moved to Ohio. Gunfire everwhere on 4 July. WTF.
its not that how down here petro — save them jumbo’s for those in need — tis only 61 outside here so could ya make mine a regular please?
Vodka martinis, please?
Lime Margarita on the way, Suz …
Do random bullets manage to never strike pure innocents? So strange, really, to think that people just fire away. Freedom! USA…USA…USA… gag, gag,…… oh sorry about that.
Yes’m !
Stirred, not shaken …

In my mind, I’m in the streets.
hey tejan — i too switched it off when i saw the start was the end – taint the same for sure…. how ya doing tonight?
I think there’s less gunfire here since a little girl was killed by a bullet coming down from who knows where maybew 15 years ago. It was a big shock to the city, and maybe a wakeup call to some of the fools.
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight? sorry dood, didn’t see ya come in…..
Watching some fireworks show. I never could ‘get’ Taylor Swift, but I find Katy Perry to be quite intriguing. Is that the ‘old’ factor?? Or is that the ‘rebellious’ factor??
We hit that several times in 2007-8 but the spell of hot temps has been long this year …
My question, no answer. I don’t know where the bullets go…

I don’t get Taylor Swift either … syrupy sweet, unreal. Great that she’s a success, though.
Katy Perry seems more real …
cast iron skillet
Agreed (on the goofing off and the alarm clocks!)
Gnite!
Come in August, June & July are always very hot.
August is usually 70′s & 80′s with wonderful evenings where you can stroll forever …
Watching “Sleepless in Seattle” — heartbreaking about Norah Ephron’s death.
Hmmm…tempting…August here is known as “Unbearable.”
And now, I’m closing down for realz!
Big Bay Boom indeed: San Diego fireworks go up all at once

what it looked like
I’ve had enough of Lee Greenwald…or whoever… America, America.. gimme a break. Gimme some Woodie Guthrie, some of da Boss, some backtalkers!
I watched When Harry Met Sally a couple weeks ago …
Nora left her mark in this World, for all to enjoy !
or a good souza march ….
Indeed!
Damn….where’s TBogg with the commentary????
at the bottom of the first link is a photo from one angle but that second link one is forking awesome…. at first he thought a yacht blew up in coronado according to the comment timeline on the right hand side…. holy moly
yay.. i’ve had a solid 3 minutes of no booms!!!

Hi Suz, Petro, CE, BFL, everyone!
Hugs and happy 4th to you all.
Having some neuropathy in my feet. Hurts.
hey margot — how’s the wilds of ohio tonight?
whatcha doing for it? anything help like elevating the feet or doing exercises or foot baths???
Evening, all-happy 4th!

hey rond — how ya doing tonight?
Pretty well…somewhat bemused that the coolest place east of the Mississippi is FL…
yikes.. i had not thought of the heatwave that way
Some random firecrackers going off, but way less than usual. My dog is happy about that. I like the display the city puts on…just not fond of the Whump! sound of incoming fireworks near my house.
no lions and tigers and bears roaming the streets either….
I hadn’t thought about it, but yes….way fewer local firecrackers and bottle rockets than in years past. Nice, actually!
We had a bear on the USF campus yesterday…
sorry to bail early tonight pups but i was up at eight forking thirty this morning and didn’t even have a good reason or excuse for doing so…. i hate it when that happens :)
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight…
g’nite all
