About Firedoglake
I can totally relate with Lambert…! Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! ;-)
aloha tut — glad ya liked it :) how’s paradise tonight?
A gorgeous day for a change, even my Son headed out to the beach…! ;-)
threatened to rain all day and around 5:30 this afternoon the skies opened up — rain fell straight down and i got .58″ in a wee bit more than an hour’s time…. i love it when rain falls straight down and isn’t blowing sideways
Over a half inch in under an hour would be large rain drops indeedy, Suz…!
it was way cool falling straight down…. reminded me of the rainfall down in boulder creek. am figuring out the weather here — tis a big unknown just how much hotter and/or colder it gets vs the beach. strange watching the clouds move away from me rather than towards me
*heh* It Never Rains In Southern California…! ;-)
summer rain
Summer Breeze…
summer in the city
Call Me the Breeze…
hey that guy – how ya doing tonight?
Goodness, where’s the all the lln pups, Suz…?
breezy
I have been vaporized. You figure it out. ;-D
lotsa folks took off for the week since the 4th is wed this year — holiday weekends are always unpredictable
how’s your #’s doing?
Righteous tune, TG…!
Summer Nights…
summertime blues
LLN! Suzanne! Ctuttle! And…Lambert! Oh, Suze, great choice! I must have seen this Lambert toon over and over as a little kid. It feels so familiar. Love it.
I’ve been falling asleep early this week…busy, busy, running around, and even having less caffeine. I’m awake now because I had to nap this afternoon. Good to be here, though it may not be for long.
How ya doing in your new digs? The weather really that different?
They’re boing boing boing boing…up and down. Much weight to lose, I believe, before I truly stabilize.
hey tejan — so glad ya liked and remembered it — i too felt like i grew up with lambert. i’m east facing instead of west and it threw me for a loop at first. i’m doing well — still unpacking but that’s easier now that i’ve got a cane instead of crutches.
No, no no…
Summertime Blues…
exercise helps too — my mom uses one teaspsoon of cinnamon daily to help stop that boing boing — my acupuncturist at the time said the chinese have been using cinnamon for centuries for blood sugar stabilization
the original
I bought a new exercise bike. I can go an hour on it. I didn’t gain this weight all at once, not going to lose it all at once either.
However, I am proud to say I have lost enough weight to need another hole in my belt, so I cut one. A notch in my belt, that is. Heh heh heh…
True dat, but the Who totally owned it. Esp the Ox growling during the verse breaks.
hehehehe slow and steady works best
i’ve always been a blue cheer fan when it comes to summertime but gotta admit, the who put on one hella show
But tonight, I am vaporized. HEEEEEEEEEEEE
Welp, you know what a Who fan I am. Not like 16 but still an enormous fan, esp of the original lineup. Moonie was a genius…and a lunatic…
stop braggin’ dood *lmao*
The Better Half is looking at a similar fate, TG, she just had some tests done and the Doc told her, in no uncertain terms, she needs to get more exercise and change her eating habits, or she’s looking at type II diabetes…! It woke her up, but, I’m bearing the brunt of it, even tho I’m not the one shoveling the sweets and soda into her…! 8-(
According to wiki, Jack Hannah is Donald Duck’s Other Daddy
I love Lambert the Lion. He’s a sweetheart. I remember him from being a lad.
How are you doing Suzanne? How’s the new place working out?
long hot summer night
Real life Lambert and pal, at WT’s place.
teddy! so good to see your fonts! glad ya liked the cartoon. i’m hoping to have the pod delivered and token back home soon — i’m doing soooo much better than i was when i moved in here on the 1st — i’m using a forking cane now!
I already am type 2. Believe me, it sucks so bad.
SO glad you’re gettin the pod! It’ll be Xmas in July to have all yer own stuff again. Can’t imagine being without the Toker this long, though — I bet he misses you something fierce.
summer nights (lego)
She knows the consequences of it, being a former CNA that tended to many Type 2 hospice patients…! We’re going to be talking to a Doc that specializes in the gastric-intestinal lap bands, shortly, and, I’ll be assuming the Food Nazi role, I’m sooo not looking forward to it…! 8-(
he’s been hanging with mel and marie and his best doggie friend bean — i worry that he’s gonna miss his little buddy and running on the beach – they go every day weather permitting. i’m so glad i found a place where i can have him but the yard is not fenced except in the very back so i’m going to have to keep him on a leash while he learns the rules. gonna be a big adjustment for him
I have been my own food nazi. When the doctor told me about it, the first thing I thought of was Waylon Jennings losing his feet and then dying of a diabetes-related heart attack.
I ain’t losin’ my fuckin’ feet. Nor am I dying.
summertime
A forkin’ cane! lol. so much better than crutches, though, huh? Getting around the place all right, then? Driving not too painful? Token will be home in no time then, I’ll bet. Great news!
Her own Dad lost a foot and soon died afterwards…! It was a wake up call when the Doc warned her, but, It’s gonna be a long trek ahead…!
i had to drive to clackamas on thur to see the ortho — by the time i got home the leg was so stiff and swollen from driving (and walking from the hospital parking lot to the clinic etc) that i was a’hurting when i got here. that drive is about 45 minutes less than the one way drive to token so i’m not ready to drive there yet… yet. friday was a painful day but today i’m back to doing ok
Wow. That does suck. I didn’t realize Waylon Jennings had lost his feet. Really scary thought.
Good luck to your wife with the weight-loss and re-learning to eat.
I confess, I’m a carb addict…love the sweet stuff, and when I go on a bit of a binge, I worry that I’m heading down that road. Just too easy.
Also watched my mother-in-law die of diabetes-related heart disease; until she was hospitalized after a heart attack, I hadn’t even realized the connection between diabetes and heart disease. She hadn’t really tried very hard to eat properly, but worse, I don’t think doctors gave her useful advice or instruction. It was tough on her and the whole family.
Bear down on her. The changes she needs to make are not temporary, they are permanent. It’s a complete pain in the ass, measuring food and counting carbs, stabbing your finger (trying to find one that will bleed enough to get a sample).
Tell her about me and what a drag I said it is. If I could make a suggestion, get her a BG meter. Anyone who’s pre-diabetic should have it. It will give her a better idea of how different foods affect her, as well as exercise.
Bear down on her. The changes she needs to make are not temporary, they are permanent. It’s a complete pain in the ass… No doubt about it, TG…!
Oops, my bad. I mixed up whose spouse got the bad news about diabetes. Sorry That Guy, and Ctut.
Suze, so sorry it’s still so painful for you. Are you still doing PT on your own, or with a sometimes therapist? Hope it improves rapidly.
still doing pt — doc said to continue pt until i feel i have gotten all the benefit outta it i can get.. he said i was doing really well and that i don’t have to see him again unless i’m having trouble
That totally rawks, Suz…! *g*
he said the xrays taken that day showed a blurring on the glued together bone that indicates bone growth so that was really good news. no further sign of ‘shifting’ and my acceptable level of deformation is still acceptable.
Well, that sounds good. I’m sure you will keep up the PT; you kept to what you needed to do and not-do all those weeks stuck in the hospital bed in the living room…glad to hear it.
So glad to get updated, Suze. I miss LLN and LLN’ers, but got to get to bed at decent hours. When I don’t…and it’s too often because of the computer or the tv…the next day is tough. Which means I need to toddle off to bed right now…way late again.
I need to get up early-ish on weekends, too, or the time just flies by with little of what needs to get done actually getting done.
We’re supposed to have thunderstorms tomorrow, so probably won’t be swimming. There’s a jazz concert I planned to attend, but it’s outdoors so not sure how whether that will go.
Y’all take good care of yourselves, and good night to all.
g’nite tejan
…my acceptable level of deformation is still acceptable.
*ouch* Still…!
!!Good news! Bone growth! Acceptable! Terrific!
And, good night for realz.
Sweet dreams, tj…!
Suz !
It’s July 1st in Toronto … Happy Canada Day !
We’re enjoying Enjoying Summer Nights
petro! how are ya celebrating?
Yep, TCM – traditional chinese medicine has its roots in Ayurveda. Cinnamon does stabilize
Blood sugar levels.
my mom found it to be a big help keeping her pre-diabetes pre — her doc said she doesn’t need to regularly test anymore but she still does just to stay on top of it. she walking about 2 miles a day too – a lot for a 78 year old woman
Hello all Pups!
Good evening.
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight?
So many parties going on around town … Jazzfest and various Concerts, fireworks, BBQs, etc.
The Spaniards and Italians are putting on huge parties for the Euro Final, so will be taking that in as well.
Teh Gays have been partying all week, and the huge parade is tomorrow. The weather will be perfect !
sweet! everyone’s partying in toronto!
How does she ingest so much cinnamon in one sitting, Suz…?
Meditation, pranayamas, yoga will also help. Homeopathy & Acupuncture is great as well. Balancing the body’s energies will balance overactive/underactive organs as well.
she adds one teaspoon to her plain greek yogurt every morning and stirs
Yep, and despite hundreds of thousands of revelers in town for Pride Week, Toronto hasn’t been hit by as Asteroid … much to the dismay of the wingnuts.
Of course, our Emperor Mayor is once again absent from the Pride parade … what a yutz !
Tut, you can stir it into a cup of coffee
ya’ll better beef up your border dood — a buncha our wingnuts said they were moving up there if aca wasn’t overturned…
I saw some of those tweets … they’re coming here to be free from socialized medicine ! *g*
i know! cracked me up — irony is not their strong suit
Aloha, Petro, she has a hyper Thyroid problem too, which I think, ironically has stemmed her descent into diabetic hell…! I always use the freshest ingredients available, EVOO along with fresh onions and garlic is the basis of all my dishes…!
*heh* Harper will embrace ‘em all with welcoming arms, eh…? ;-)
i have a hyper thyroid — it was radiated back in 89 and i’ve been on thyroid replacement since early 90.
CT !
A good Homeopath will fix that. When the endocrine system gets misaligned, it causes all kinds of ailments …
EDIT: If she starts alternative treatment like homeopathy, acupuncture, etc. let me know via FB and I’ll send her some simple pranayamas which will enhance the treatment and speed her recovery.
The NDP are making huge leaps in popularity, one year from now King Harper will be feeling too much pressure to continue his NeoCon agenda.
Way to go, Suz.
Neither is brains.
tis about time for me to get horizontal peeps…. i gotta tell ya, my sleep patterns are all forked up… i’m routinely awaking hours before the crack of noon….
hope to see ya on tut’s threads sun and mon — can’t wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve
g’nite all
The Better Half is taking Synthroid, tho, she never had her thyroid irradiated…!
G’nite Suz !
Will the Liberals ever get it together again, or are they as hopeless as our Dims are…?
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
The Libruls became BlueDogs, the NDP are the only true Left party. Harpuh has a majority gov’t, so he might be safe for 4 years. And of course, he is stirring up trouble in Quebec, putting the Separatists Vs NDP. But if the NDP do this right, they will be giving him major migraines from next year, onwards.
Here’s what I say to repukes…
Will the Quebecois Bloc work with NDP…?
How is the First Nations and the NDP…?
I’m not well versed in Quebec politics, but the NDP have a strong base there and I think they would do more for Quebec’s Distinct Society issues than the NeoCons.
I don’t know how these protests have impacted the Separatist movement, but I do know they have weakened the NeoCons/BlueDog coalition that’s been ruling Quebec for a long time …
The First Nations are in a real mess, NDP Leader Mulcair is a bright politician. It’ll be interesting to hear his steps for solving the growing crises in the First Nations’ communities.
On paper, your Oilers are putting together a very good team !
Hopefully, Mulcair is responsive to their plight…! I’m glad ya’ll do have a multi-party Parliament, not enslavened to a Duopoly like down under here…!
Can’t wait till the first puck drops…! ;-)
If the Libruls & NDP had merged, they would have toppled Harper’s regime. Now, with the NDP gaining ground, they might still merge but retain true progressive values, rather than BlueDog values.
If they can get another “Grant Fuhr”, things would get interesting …
Gretzky scoorrrrrrrreeesss !
Happy 99th and Happy Canada Day, CT !
That would be the best of all worlds, Petro…! Well, I shall bow out too…! I hope to see ya’ll tomorrow nite…! *g*
*heh* How apropos, couldn’t happen to a finer soul too…! *g*
