Vincent Price — House of Horror, from episode 119 of The Muppet Show.
What’s on your mind?
*no boing* forward dive straight, wee splash
Hi, Suz. Hope you are doing well this evening.
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? i’m doing well thanks
All is well on this coast. Warm, quiet, peaceful. No complaints.
was a wee bit muggy here today – supposed to have rain tomorrow. the lawn guy came and cut the grass this afternoon — love the smell of freshly mowed grass mixed with the maybe its gonna thunderstorm smell
Hola, Suz and llners. I have lurked a little, but mostly, I have not had time to comment much. You are diving, Suz! How does the leg feel in the water?
hey bg — how did your show go? the leg is getting stronger each day — am on a cane now instead of crutches!
I have a friend whose laugh sounds just like Vincent Price’s (see/hear Michael Jackson’s Thriller for the full Monty, laugh-wise). Snickeringly snide, touch of evil, and so funny!
Magnifico sez the curmudgeonly Bulgarian…! ;-)
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…!
Little known, but Vincent Price was an excellent cook/gourmand. I had this book from ’82 in hardcover, and it’s where I learned how one could make QUANTITY of hollandaise in the frikking BLENDER!
Keep it in a warm water bath and zap when you need to serve – man, it has been one of the best ideas EVAH and helped me out on many a brunch.
hey mikey — tis a great forking laugh :) how’s the city tonight?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? tell that bulgarian cousin of yours that that kissing up is not going to entice me to give up that photo negative he’s so interested in….
Hi Suz! I have lurked too a bit. It’s great to hear you’re using just a cane now. You are indomitable.
kellly! how’s denver tonight?
hey margot — how’s the wilds of ohio tonight? i’m just stubborn to tell ya the truth
This has much to do about nothing (of course, it’s from me) but friends and I talked today about the all-time, All-Time Hollywood movie. Who gets top billing when the List of Credits rolls?
I say, Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.
Can’t see who gets top-billing over the King & Queen of Hollywood.
We had high heat and then big storm, branches down, some power out but not too bad. Minor stuff. Sure feels good after the rain.
ooooo what an interesting question…who is in your all-time All-Time hollywood movie?
…to give up that photo negative he’s so interested in…
Hmmm… Now you’ve got me interested…! ;-)
I’ll be in and out, as I’m also attending the near-by Aloha Uprising Music-fest/Political Rally…! A lot of Ron Paul supporters in attendance…!
doooodette – cooler, but getting smoky, even in my downtown Denver parts.
That was a new thing today. There’s a little evening breeze, so one can’t smell the fires right now from my place, but I bet I can tomorrow.
you gonna end up doing a diary about it tut?
I’m still waiting for the Focus on the Family types to stand up and proclaim how Gawd is burning down the area for what….??????
i’m glad steph’s in mo this month — smoke can trigger all kinda lung troubles. is the cooler gonna stick around or…?
I’ll fold it in with my 4th of July festivities, and our up-coming County Council actions on Tuesday the 2nd…! With pics and video…! ;-)
Easy. The Misfits. Followed by Chinatown. Followed by Taxi Driver.
i would have to include gone with the wind and star wars and the maltese falcon
“Cooler” is relative. It was 97 today instead of the frikking 105 for 5 days in a row, which is an all time record here.
It’s NEVER been 105 here in Front Range. Ever. And up where Steph was, is totally where the High Park fire is. It’s good she’s in MO.
We also argued over who was the most glorious and fabulous female star of all time. I win. Grace Kelly.
its forking burning like its late august, not june…. and its not just colorado — way too many wildfires for this early in the season
Hello………are we all ‘getting it’ now????? I wonder what will ‘awaken’ when Kansas begins to burn? Will the ignorati finally wake the fuck up?
I think I hear RAIN right now. . .hi and goodnight Margot. . .Nora E. interviews on Charlie at the moment.
The opening was good, Suz. The show is good, and getting there was mostly uneventful, so all well.
I think the RAIN is over already, blinked and gone. Yep, the climate is really kicking our asses to hell and back every day now.
i hope its not a taste of things to come….
yay for rain!!! mostly uneventful?
There can’t be all that many people in Kansas. Do you suppose that we could do an “Aware on the Bus” tour of the state to kinda try to educate the folks? I’m sure they are well-meaning and just kinda outta the loop.
Why not, Dearie…! The Ag. Dept is already predicting record losses in this year’s Corn harvest, amongst other essential commodities…! 8-(
Caio for now…! ;-)
uneventful in the sense that the piece has sound, light, water, things that could be dangerous if mixed by accident, and it went together and everything works, no fireworks, nothing really dramatic. The sound is really wonderful, and it takes people by surprise, so that part is nice. But the little enclosure with all that stuff mixed up inside could be trouble, and it was uneventful when it all came together.
I know folks all over the country and everyone I know is have “exceptional” weather. How is it that we cannot get a consensus that things are really messed up? Oh, yeah, Al Gore is fat. Sorry I mentioned climate exceptionalism.
ahhh… i was thinking uneventful like no horse ran into your car on the way there kinda uneventful
Good evening Suz and lln pups. Great dive, Suz ! Much easier to walk the diving board with a cane instead of crutches, eh? Good to hear the crutches are gone !
LOL. I saw the wife of the crazy horse man tonight. I don’t know if she knows that the horse ran into my car, but I don’t think I want to talk to her about it.
Yeah, nothing dramatic at all like that.
hey past — how ya doing tonight? i keep the crutches in the car — just in case… i drove a lot and walked a lot yesterday and today i was wishing i had brought them into the house… once i take several steps the knee decides to not protest so vigorously but oy, those first few steps are uncomfortable
i think that was a smart move on your part — not dramatic is a good thing :)
Aside the weather, I guess everyone is trying to cope, get over their surprise, about the Tom and Katie news eh? If not for Roberts knocking them off the front page and fires and all that. Who could have predicted?
Hi Dearie. That was rhetorical, right? :>)
my local news tonight said that she claimed in the divorce papers that his religious beliefs were to blame
Again, who could have predicted? Wonder how the custody will go? I think those Scientologists have major control issues about the children. I believe the children from his prior marriage have lived with him, I don’t know if NK ever sees them. It is creepy. Sorry, did not mean to go on. He is strange.
Heh! I’m still waiting to hear the Christianist pastors declaim about the burning of their neighborhood. And then how they will explain away any kind of human impact on the environment. Of course, they are probably constructing arks or whatever………….
CO Springs is a major xianist area, so I guess those people have done something to get God mad at them. Fire in Montana too, the whole west is a tinderbox.
he is — if he was living in a double wide instead of a hollywood mansion, he would be the guy that everyone avoided — that whole couch jumping thing on oprah was so faked
Hey Suz; Nice to hear of you getting back in to normal life. Tell us about your new home. Love Unkleonard
Yeah that reminds me, been a while since we’ve heard a peep out of Pat Robertson. Seems like an opportune moment for him to get back in the ‘news’
unka leonard! sooo good to see your fonts here at lln — i’m in a wee little bungalow in the town of st helens oregon — tis only 550 sq feet but its perfect for just me.
The amazingness about the Christianists is that they will turn it all … twist and shout….to make it the fault of someone. Sorry excuses for human beings. Burn the whole place down.
for those that don’t know, leonard is one of my mother’s brothers
How fun! Welcome, Uncle Leonard. Suz is our pal, our conversationalist, our goddess of the lake with her dives. Good to have you here. Smile along with us!
I predict mostly silence from them on this one.
I’m afraid I’m pooping out, a shout out to Uncle Leonard, stop by often, Suz is the hostess with the very mostest!
Evening all. I’m scanning comments with a happy worn out brain…..who’s leonard?
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight — leonardspurlock is my unkle
welcome Uncle Leonard, got any embarrassing or amusing childhood tales about Suzanne?
I haven’t seen pictures like you used to post. Is there any beauty in your new place like the sunsets of before? Don’t mean to change the subjects but Cruse and Robertson bore me. And , I have lived in Kansas with interesting friends that didn’t fit the stereotype.
i’ve got no views here — and haven’t found that 4th rechargeable battery for the camera — i get out on the main road and can see mt st helens. my friend dana is gonna come down from seattle for a visit and we are going to go up to the volcano — if i can’t find that dayam battery i’m gonna have to go buy one
am east facing so no sunsets :(
I also know many people from Kansas. Fine people. But I want to say, step up! Kansas is coming off as a silly-state. What’s up with that? Spine up, you good Kansans and speak truth to stupidity. You know?
The Sound is gorgeous. I’m kicking it into high gear extending the garden into the new 30 x 30 space I gained when the trees were harvested. We had sun until you couldn’t stand the heat, followed by warm drizzle. Perfect. Cleared out the flying little assholes.
I’ve been putting in 12 hour days.
Love Dana’s blogs.
those green beans you sent me are fabulous — you gonna be growing more beans?
i was so jazzed when scientific american blogs offered her the opportunity to blog there in addition to her posts at her place.
she’s been doing a great mt st helens series at sa so i’ve been trying to read them with a ‘local’ attitude — can’t wait to get up there and see it for myself – never been
Sometimes sunsets are over-rated. We lived 6 years on a cliff overlooking the Sound with the most beautiful sunsets ever. The sunsets and the water gave a person a false sense of having accomplished something that day. It’s hard to explain. I’m actually glad to be free of the sunsets. I can always go see a sunset and marvel at the pure beauty.
i’ve never been much of a sunrise kinda gal which is what i get here — i was somewhat disoriented those first few days — trying to figure out the directions and patterns — at the coast it was all sunsets and storms coming from the north, south, or west with sweeping views of what’s about to ‘hit’…. so far, the rain has fallen straight down and i’ve not had much wind at all
Many more. The ones I sent you weren’t the perfect canning beans. I only grew a bed of canning beans last year because I didn’t know if I could do it. This year I’m focusing on large production of vegetables that preserve well.
Less variety. I am playing with growing Quinoa. Last year I learned Shiso and like it enough to add just because it’s pretty. It’s also great in stir fry.
I am more in to sunrises so I’m moving back to Folly Beach so I can see more of them.
sorry to be bailing early but my meds have kicked in and its time for me to get horizontal. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight — hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons.
When we lived on North Beach and the kids were being born, we had the most breath-taking sunrises with Mt.Baker and flocks of bird silouttes against a gorgeous orange, pink, indigo sky……..
and I’d think “Oh, fuck morning!”.
G’nite Sus good to talk for a little while. Look at the sunrise a few times and you might learn to love it. Goodnight all and thanks. Love
G’nite Suz. Sweet dreams!
Sweet dreams. I’m so glad you’re in your own place.
You did good. [ as we say around here]
Good night, leonard. Thank you for diving into the lake.
Aloha, Unka Leonard…!
…Look at the sunrise a few times and you might learn to love it…
But that would entail her getting up before the crack of noon…! ;-)
Good morning, pups. Mr. Blow is flying solo, since Ms. Collins and Mr. Nocera are off today. In “Obama, For the Win!” he says the decision on health care reform has Republicans fuming. But, make no mistake, the ruling was a victory for the president and the nation.
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got banana pancakes for breakfast. Yesterday was fun… While it was 101.8° in the shade the air conditioner died. Mercifully the repair man got to us within half an hour. It’s supposed to be even hotter today, the weather people have been murmuring about a heat index of around 120. Stay cool, and have a great day.
