Jill Barber — Oh My My.
What’s on your mind?
hey wmd — how’s the mt tonight?
Got a raise – 4.5% starting in July.
RC is still on house arrest.
I’m going to Indiana next week, get old motorcycle running, ride it out to CA week of July 4. Secondary priority is dealing with city cranial rectal inversion, different departments have sent me mutually exclusive demands, I’m getting an attorney to work it out.
hey that guy — how ya doing tonight?
yay for the raise and ride!!! rc must be really pissed — almost as pissed as you are about having to get an atty
Ehh, not a good day – really tired all day. BG was ok till I tried the sugar-free ice cream. No more of that, spiked damn near to the moon. Coming down now.
Lucky you to have a raise at all. We few, we mighty few, not so much.
I’d prefer they respect what they told me when I got my permit to build the building, not come to me 7 years later and tell me 2 completely different stories.
crap – gotta find a way for frozen desserts… esp now that it is summer. can ya have frozen yogurt?
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight?
oh this isn’t sounding good. jeebus 7 years later???
Finally breezy –my word it was so hot that we five hovered under an umbrella table at lunch.
GREAT to see ya, suze back up and doin’ the LLN show.
I’m pleased with it. My manager du jour said 2-3% was average. I’ve done a lot of good work in the past 15 months and it’s good to see it recognized.
That said, my pay is still 3.8% lower than my salary in 2006-2007, and very much lower (13%+) if you adjust for inflation.
Lemon water. Lots of water with lemon juice.
makes ya glad that work is air conditioned when its that hot
Evening, Suz and llners. WE HAD SOME RAIN TONIGHT!! Sorry for shouting, we are all so excited.
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight? i’m not dancing yet — had pt today and lardy that woman had me looking forward to icing my knee and ankle the minute i got home
couldn’t ya freeze that lemon water and slush it up with a force into an ice?
woohoo bg!!! *snoopy one legged happy dance* how much did ya get?
Last night, fire. Like I said, everyone so thrilled tonight.
Suz, you iced it? How’s it now? Jeez, this really has been a marathon of pain and suffering.
Sad, no rain since last week.
ehh, maybe. I’ll have to try that using Stevia and see what it does to my BG.
i did *shrudder* tis better now…. we worked on strength today so my muscles were really upset and the knee got really stiff on the drive home – as did the ankle. i forking h-a-t-e ice but i like what it does…
A bureaucrat in city planning has a colonic insect problem. Part of it may be fear of future RIFs – city cut 30+ people, and being seen to be doing things may be motivating it. Thing is it looks like her boss was saying one thing to my city councilman, while she was saying something else to a different department.y
I don’t bear any rancor, but I don’t like wssting my time and money and city legal’s time dealing with this BS. And my councilman seems to be spineless and uninterested in the problems with unprofessional and arbitrary action done by people he should be overseeing.
I probably will talk to some more folks on the bad politics of this – current mayor knows me from my running against him for legislature in ’94…
Native son makes good in California, invests in his old Bloomington neighborhood. City approves investment, then 7 years later rescinds approval, making numerous contradictory statements on changed permitted uses of development. Inconsistent statements from City Planning make it impossible for a small property holder to make long term plans because of arbitrary bureaucratic policy changes. Bottom line – don’t invest in Bloomington, as you will be subjected to capricious action from low level functionaries.
isn’t a good message. I’m very capable of making it, and finding other people with similar experiences. Municipal planning departments almost always have issues…
or perhaps a wee bit of apple juice if the stevia doesn’t work out… i remember my mom talking about using some sort of apple juice or concentrate or something as a sugar substitute in a lotta things
ouch – that’s gonna leave a mark
I just have to get my new exercise bike in the house (and get the fucking broken one out) and get to work. Exercise is SO necessary.
No one seems to be aware this framing would have legs, and if they really tell me I have to remove anything I could use for sleeping from my garage (seats out of my son’s car?) I’d pitch a tent at city hall at the most damaging time in city election cycle.
my mom is almost religious about taking a walk every day – she gets up before dawn and does a sunrise walk (before it gets too hot) — she was never that into walking before she got her pre-diabetes diagnosis. i gotta say, she is looking good — lost weight and she’s got a lot of energy for a 78 year old
Lots of changes, ThatGuy. Don’t give up. You will get it right, and you will feel a lot better.
if they are too stupid to see it, they are too stupid to be elected officials
When LM got her diagnosis of congestive heart failure, she really stuck to her routine of swimming 4x per week plus all the dietary stuff, religious about it. I am sure that is why she lived so long. If not for the dementia, she had a really good run with a bad illness.
exercise really is important – the use it or lose it thang really does apply. i’m trying to be more active (esp after those 4 months in that blasted hospital bed) and have discovered there is a drive up coffee shack within walking distance of home — when i am able, i’ll be able to walk there with token and get my reward for walking :)
I’m going to retain a lawyer. I’m also going to talk to a few PTB in city/county politics. It’s not like they don’t know me and my love of fighting city hall (and being on the winning side!).
If things go right I’ll be out paying a retainer and have city officially accepting I stay in the building I built to stay in when I visit.
the are gonna learn they are fucking with the wrong guy.
oh my my, i love that song!
Hi Suz, BG, ThatGuy, BFL, Chris and wmd and everyone. Waving from hot hot Ohio. So glad to see NM got rain…really bad fire situation there.
hey margot — thanks for sending it to me — i love it too! how ya doing tonight?
Fantastic. Can’t wait to hear that you and Token are walking to the coffee shack.
Because of my work, I have an active life, so I feel like I do stay in decent shape. One thing that seems hopeful is that I can still crouch down and work for a couple of hours without falling over from pain in my knees or back.
I had to install my piece in the gallery on Tuesday, still tweaking it but very happy how it came out. We have the opening in a week, so still plenty of time for making little adjustments to it. It has sound, and the kids really love it, walking around it looking in to see where the sounds are coming from.
I had a snafu with the water pan, the people who fabricated it made it a quarter of an inch too wide, so I could not get it in, and I had to take it back to have them re=work it. So I have not had water in it yet, but everything else has been smooth. The director is still waiting for a couple of pieces, so I am not actually the last one done, which seems like a miracle.
check this out!
I’m drinking soda pop, which for me means it’s even too hot for iced coffee. I got a tomato plant half price and it’s got big fruit on it getting ripe in the heat.
fingers and toes crossed it goes smoothly from now on bg…
from that same show…. one of my fav’s
when it gets that hot, i drink root beer.
Iced tea works for me, but I have to be careful not to drink too much caffeine too late in the day. . .Hi Margot!
ice cream helps — no caffeine jitters but ya do gotta walk more (when it cools down) to work it off
g’nite wmd — let me know how it turns out please
Blender is my friend. I throw some ice and milk in, maybe add banana or some other fruit, and it is tasty. Sometimes make a sort of frappe with coffee, ice and milk. I was pretty much living on that stuff last week when I had to crank in the heat. It has been super hot here, like everywhere.
that’s a good way to get through those too hot to eat days… i can only eat so many salads
Didn’t know Jill Barber – love this video. Thanks.
hey radhika — glad ya liked it. per her website, she’s a canadian singer. this tune is from 2008 iirc.
how ya doing tonight?
Hello Suz. Been busy this week in the evenings. Trying to teach pigs to fly MMT to the Charlie Daniels crew.
It’s been fun, in a beat your head against the wall kind of way.
Some people will never be reached.
hey strat — i avoid sites like that — i just can’t handle my head ‘sploding :)
how ya been dood?
I like trying to learn how they do what passes for thinking.
H-town has been much better this summer than last.
I have an idea for a completely different way to do air conditioning, easier, cheaper, more efficient. Got a provisional patent last week (which really means I’ve reserved my place in line in case of conflicts over who’s idea it was)
Now I’m trying to figure out how to turn it into money as easily as possible.
i don’t think they think much at all dood – they are too busy putting down others to make themselves ‘better’ in comparison
am starting to fade pups. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight – hope to see ya tomorrow night, same bat time, same bat channel, for friday night muppets
