Eric Burdon and The Animals — Monterey, from the Vancouver CBC TV series Let’s Go, 1968.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening pups — how ya doing tonight?
Hi, Suzanne. Hope you had a good day. Onward……….!
hey dearie — how was your day? i had pt today and she really worked me — she had me put my full weight on my leg (ouch) and got me on a bike today. on the plus side, i got to 120 degrees of bend :)
hey senator — how’s sac tonight?
i’ve got ice on the knee and ankle for the second time since i got home… glad i picked up more gel inserts for the wraps while i was there. now i can use 2 and be freezing the other two so i can do that 20 on/20 off/20 on cycle
Good work. One day at a time. For those of us who are merely serving as witnesses, it’s wonderful to see you take each next step….. you are doing great! And I’m grateful that you are sharing with us. Very inspiring.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Hot damn, I’m good… Four loads of laundry, carpet cleaned, tile floor mopped, toilet scrubbed, dishes done, and my taters boiling merrily away, as I await the Better Half’s arrival in about an hour’s time…! ;-)
This has nothing to do with anything….
My friend Sandi took me to the comic book convention at Moscone Center. It was fun, if exhausting, and I think I’m over the juvenilia. But, I saw Lois Lane.
Yes, it was Noel Neill, the actress who played Lois Lane in the old Superman TV show. (She looked great, by the way.)
Anyhow, I wanted to ask her something, but I didn’t get a chance to because the crowd around her was too big.
But…there was an episode where Clark Kent, Lois, Perry White and Jimmy Olsen were in an airplane that crashed in a jungle.
Of course, Clark, dressed in a suit, disappears into the jungle. And miraculously, Superman shows up!
Superman fixes everything, and flies away.
Guess who then walks out of the jungle? Clark Kent, still dressed perfectly.
Lois says, “Clark, sometimes I wonder about you.”
He smiles, “Lois, no wonder you wonder. You’re a pretty wonderful gal.”
Ewwwww. Pure cornball. Even a little boy knew that. I wanted to ask Noel Neill if she remembered that line, and if they laughed.
Later at the convention, after meeting the Gorn (yes!) from Star Trek and seeing the great Stan Lee, I talked to Barbara Luna. She was a bit distraught because a fellow actor from the old TV series Zorro had just passed away. She was also concerned about the weather outside, which I told her was a heavy drizzle. She was remarkably beautiful, looked maybe 30, and a delight to talk to.
thanks dearie — its the support of ya’ll that got me through those horrible no weight bearing months *and* that blasted hospital bed. i have been worried that lln has been way too much about me lately — been struggling with that
laundry folded and put away? are there fresh flowers to welcome her home and let her know she was missed? what else for dinner besides taters?
Ooh, that totally sux, Suz…! Best healing vibes… Ooohhm…! *g*
hey mikey — how forking kewl!!! i loved those old black and white superman episodes — and lois lane was a hottie :) so good to hear she is still with us and looking good.
Timmy from Lassie was there selling lunch pails.
i h-a-t-e ice… in fact i all caps dashes between the letters do not like it. after about 5 minutes its not so stingy but dang dood, those are a rough 5 minutes or so. i’m doing so much huffing and puffing through it i sound like a woman in hard labor.
but i do like the after. pt lady said my ankle is looking a lot better as is the pressure sore on my heel. and then she told me i need to be icing the knee more. *sigh*
*heh* Oops, no flowers, but, she’ll still get lei’d later…! ;-)
I’ve got some sauteed sirloin strips with maui onions, garlic, red/yellow peppers, and, steamed broccoli on tap…!
no way! geebus, how old is he now…. bet he doesn’t look like little timmy anymore
ya need a little something to show how glad you are she is back — do ya have candles or something?
ooooo gregg allman is on colbert tonight
I do not know the man, and I hope this is not cruel, but Timmy looks like Ned Flanders.
heavy drizzle? In SF today? was it foggy?
*laughing* ned flanders is a perfect description — i can totally see little timmy as a ned
*heh* She already told me she’ll be glad to be home, just before she boarded the plane in LAX…! ;-)
Opie didn’t age well, either. And not trying to be mean, but Mick Jagger always made me think of Don Knotts.
i think there are more who don’t age well than those who do — i’ve certainly not
*laughing* i’m gonna have a hard time looking at jagger and not thinking about don knotts — i guess perhaps i should not have taken that second pain pill tonight but have to admit, i’m laughing at everything
san francisco nights – audio live in stockholm 1968
A friend once told me, Brigitte Bardot made Mick Jagger’s lips possible. (I still don’t know what that means, but it made me laugh.)
If you gotta hurt then that’s the best thing that pain meds can give you…. a good laugh. Enjoy.
Hey folks! Matt Cain pitched a perfect game for the SF Giants tonight – a thing of beauty.
can either laugh or cry and i h-a-t-e crying even more than i do ice — so i laugh
pun! i just saw that on the twitter machine! sure wish i wudda been able to see that — wasn’t it the first ever perfect game in giant history?
how ya been dood? tis good to see your fonts
hey Suz: first ever in franchise history, 22nd in all of baseball history. Amazing feat.
Doing pretty well, thx. Don’t make it by as often as I should….
Yes, first perfect game in Giants history. Matt is a motherfuckin BAD MAN!!!
I watched the whole game. Giants scored 10.
tis an amazingly rare event — dang, i wish i cudda been there, eating garlic fries and watching perfection
hey thatguy — how ya doing tonight? is that forking fantastic!!!
In response, I can only give you Plastic Bertrand….
I got my Metformin today – start taking it in the morning. Magic low-carb banana bread is nice, too.
yay! i’m so glad you are finding acceptable substitutes. soon you will have your blood sugar under control and you will be feeling a lot better
had a feeling early on that this could be the night. I watched the final eight innings; sat my daughter down to catch the final three: history in the making!
1) Great clip
2) Saw this song by Eric in ’67 at Cow Palace, new band, big 7 foot fiddler, might be the same band from Monterey. I was 16.
3) That show had The WHo, (insane), The Association, some soul acts and some Brit acts.
That was the mix in them days.
Some Brit, some soul, some domestic pop, and more, all mixed in.
But I vividly recall Eric and the band. Sky Pilot was the current release, I recall that.
Wishin ya well, can’t stay.
Bless ya and yers gal . . . . glad to hear ya got good digs!
put me in coach
hey larue — glad ya liked it dood. always good to see ya stop by – even if just a driveby.
I”m a fan, what a game, what a game!
Hard to believe, since the franchise, NO perfect games from them all.
I can’t quote old NY team pitchers (Burleigh Grimes?), but Marichal? And Perry? Others? Never a perfecto.
sorry folks — that second dose of pain meds has got me yawning instead of laughing.
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
That is so kewl, pun…! I’m a big Giants fan here, too…!
Sweet dreams, Suz…! I’ve got dinner done and all the dishes done now, with about 15 mins to spare til the Better Half walks thru the door…! ;-)
Hey Larue! You’ve lengthened your monicker I see.
Amazing feat. Hard to believe Christy Mathewson never managed one.
bonne nuit, Suz…
Now if only we could cure Timmy of whatever ails his game…
sports talk as thread killer: who knew?
:!) signing off…
I was merely distracted by my Mademoiselle’s arrival, Pun Meister…! Ciao, Mi Amigo…! *g*
