finally had some sunshine :) signed the lease on my bungalow today — move in is set for friday IF (big if) i can get the utilities switched over *and* get connected to the internet. gotta have tubes
aloha tut — what’s that temp in english *laughing* the wind chill from those winds has to be something fierce — you doubled up on the long johns tonight?
A bungalow? How cool. Do you get to keep Token and that cat thing you keep around? Fingers crossed.
At any rate. Your own place, once again. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
prob middle of the month. wanna get my stuff in and be able to walk without crutches so i can take him for walks etc. i’ve got my first pt appt on the 5th and am hoping to be down to one crutch after that and maybe without them entirely by the week after — i’m motivated for sure. plus i gotta be able to handle the drive – 2 hours there and back. took the car out for a short spin around the block yesterday and was able to gas and gently brake. took it out again today — to the post office and then got a latte at the drive up coffee shack at shopping center down the street and did ok. tomorrow i want to take it out on a major street and see how i do. ankle is not happy tonight but then the ankle isn’t happy about walking either so….
bailey cat was adopted by her new human in april. i had no place for her — she couldn’t come here and i had to be out by the end of the month. luckily i found a nice cat person who was willing to take her skittishness on and they seem to be getting along ok. she was a rescued feral and not a real people kinda cat. i heard she was mousing up a storm and spending most of her time outside – her favorite place to be but comes in to eat and get water and when its stormy.
His specialty is organizing. At least he will get the tour of the planned insanity sewer which will waste 10 year domestic water supply dewatering our underground lakes so they can then trench for the sewer pipelines.Thank you for the help.
As long as temps are in the 80s, I only run the AC from about 2 or 3 to 9, then I turn I use just the fans, which run 24/7. I set the thermostat to 83, unless I’m cleaning or we have company, so it’s always kinda warm around here.
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? the quaint little town of st helens oregon. its on the columbia river about 29 miles north and east of beaverton where i’ve been these past 4 months. its the town where the first twilight movie was filmed
Beryl was way north but storms are fickle and it hit Sunday during the book salon and the last outer bands are now mowing out, but just wind, no rain. Those outer bands can stretch for 100s of miles and make no sense, when it comes to where they end up.
yeah but when ya get that c thing going i get confused and forget that zero is freezing in c and 32 in f…. i know the hot temps have a lower number than f hot numbers and seem to think that the cold c numbers are colder too. i never did do good with metrics and liters and all those other measurement kinds i didn’t learn as a kid
You are much more generous then I. 83 in summer (but if outdoor temps are lower, the windows get opened and we hope for a draft) and 60 in winter. That said, I’m not a big fan of clothes, so it’s easier to make do in summer.
been looking – more so after the doc said i could start weight bearing. just happened to see the ad on craigslist — had been looking only in washington county (the county jen lives in) but not finding what i was looking for — lost out on a couple places that sounded good but when i called had applications already pending. was getting worried since i had said i wanted to be out before mike’s girls arrived for their summer visit. they don’t need grammy hogging the living room with her hospital bed etc.
speaking of which — the blasted horrible h-a-t-e-d fucking hospital bed and the wheelchair are being picked up by the medical supply rental company thursday. push comes to shove, i can sleep on the sofa for a couple nights…..
Have you ever zonked out on the couch in the late afternoon, usually during the long days of summer, and wake up thinking it’s tomorrow? Happened to me today (or, earlier this ‘evening’). So disconcerting! The light was all wrong. And I didn’t feel refreshed–but I was gearing up to start a new day.
Oh, well. The good news is, I guess, I get to go back to bed again.
i’m dreading calling marie and telling her that i found a place and will be moving and able to keep him. she loves him so much and he has bonded with her dog, bean … its going to be so hard on her and mel — and difficult for him too. she’s been so good to watch him for me and i know she’s gonna be sad that he’s going and happy that he’s going home with me but i wish my happiness didn’t mean she’s gonna be sad.
Wheeee! Suze, you’e walking AND driving now! Wowwweee! I’m so happy for you. And for Token. I know he’s missed you and wondered what’s going on. (don’t have to know him, just to have known dogs).
so, so glad you have a place, a lease, and you can afford it. And now you’ll have Token, and be close to Jen and Jujube, too.
I think you and y our family win Family of the Year for the support you’ve given each other under difficult circumstances.
So glad things are working out, after all.
Good-bye to the hated bed…..but it served you well and got you some sleep while you got better. But I truly am thrilled about your impending move back to freedom. And, as tuez says, tell more! What’s the new place like.
I googled St. Helens and it is utterly charming! So much to look forward to.
Oh, and great choice for the music tonight…except, well, surely….it CAN’T have been 1967, can it?????? Gad, way to make me feel old…can picture/hear it playing on the radio beside my bed in my parents’ house in Pittsburgh…guess it was ’67, after all.
It used to be, I could never sleep during the day (unless I was very, very sick). But now I can take naps. Hooray.
On the flip side, I used to hate how bars here in CA closed at 2:00 a.m. But now, I think, if I found myself in a club at 2 o’clock in the morning, I’d just start crying.
one bed one bath 550 sq feet stand alone house with a matching blue siding and white trim outbuilding for storage that is 130 sq feet. hardwood floors. big windows in the living room dining area. clawfoot tub with a ceiling mounted rainfall shower head over it. small bedroom — my 4 poster bed wont fit but that’s ok — that bed is old and i can use what was stephanie’s until i get a new one no dishwasher but *drum roll* has a stacked washer dryer in an alcove off the bedroom!!!
no garage but it has a covered front porch and a yard for token.
It sounds charming and comfortable….. does it have a view? I love that it has a covered porch….. is there room for a comfortable chair so you can enjoy the neighborhood?
i hate it when that happens. when a nap turns out to last longer and its all disoriented when i wake up… and then i have a hard time getting back to sleep later cause i slept so long during the day…
I saw Doc Watson in Golden Gate Park during the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival some years back. I’d never heard of Doc Watson before. As he played, I commented to my friend how good he was! Now, I know. RIP.
no view but room for a couple chairs on that covered porch and there is an area to the side of the house that could be either a table and chairs or maybe a little garden. gonna have to watch and see what the sun pattern is there — the porch faces north and that side yard is on the west side but there are all those trees between the houses
cutest dog in the world, 12 lbs category :) sure gonna feel good to crawl into bed with my little belly warmer :) for a little guy, he sure can put out the heat in the winter
i’m looking forward to exploring the area. iirc it has a vibrant downtown area with old brick buildings that are now shops etc. cute town park with a gazebo too. its bigger than tillamook — that county seat only has a pop of 5k and 24k in tillamook county — st helens is the county seat for columbia county and has 12k in the town and almost 50k in the county.
It certainly sounds like a great jumping off point for getting you back into the action…..and not too far from Jen and her family. I drive about 30 miles to get to my baby boys on the weekends. Of course I’m driving along the Pacific Coast, so that’s just pure pleasure. I’m just so pleased to hear that things are unfolding in such a positive way.
And, with that, I’m exhausted. Had a job this morning in Santa Barbara…. but the defense attorney was really, really late, so it made a long day for the rest of us. I’m ready for dream land.
we had a console — about a 15″ color tv in the middle, record player under the left lid and an am/fm tuner with the knobs for the record player controls under the right lid. was our first color tv and we were very proud of it
that is so kewl — gonna be a huge weekend for him and you and the family. betcha he’s gotta big ole smile on his face and is looking forward to going off to college
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight? i don’t like anything about moving — either in or out — but i sure like all this move represents. if i only had a pair of ruby slippers to click it would be much easier :)
More physically demanding than regular BS camp. High Adventure programs within a regular BS camp are generally limited to older scouts, 1st class or higher rank.
I just watched LLN birthed. How cool.
One minute half was there, the next all of it.
You are talented Mz. Suz.
hey tuez — its the tech team that is talented – i just found the video :) how was your day?
My day was fine. We had some rain, finally.
Et tu?
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! It’s -0.6 C with 30+ mph winds howling up here tonite, I’d rather paint houses…! ;-)
Hi all – 70 degrees at 1am in DC
finally had some sunshine :) signed the lease on my bungalow today — move in is set for friday IF (big if) i can get the utilities switched over *and* get connected to the internet. gotta have tubes
aloha tut — what’s that temp in english *laughing* the wind chill from those winds has to be something fierce — you doubled up on the long johns tonight?
That’s great news, Suz…! When will you get Token back…?
hey bev — yikes – that’s too fucking hot to sleep… how bad was it today and what’s the forecast for tomorrow? you getting any impact from beryl?
A bungalow? How cool. Do you get to keep Token and that cat thing you keep around? Fingers crossed.
At any rate. Your own place, once again. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn’t your wife from Canada? I think you’d be warmer up there :)
Hi Bev W.
Wade Rathke will be coming to Los Osos July 13th!
We are at 75 right now and that’s only because Beryl has cooled things off. Welcome to my world. At least the AC has been off for 2 days. Yippee.
prob middle of the month. wanna get my stuff in and be able to walk without crutches so i can take him for walks etc. i’ve got my first pt appt on the 5th and am hoping to be down to one crutch after that and maybe without them entirely by the week after — i’m motivated for sure. plus i gotta be able to handle the drive – 2 hours there and back. took the car out for a short spin around the block yesterday and was able to gas and gently brake. took it out again today — to the post office and then got a latte at the drive up coffee shack at shopping center down the street and did ok. tomorrow i want to take it out on a major street and see how i do. ankle is not happy tonight but then the ankle isn’t happy about walking either so….
*heh* That’s about 30 degrees F, give or take a degree…! ;-)
Hi Suz. Congrats on the move!
It was in the low 90s – rained last night, humidity? oh yes. Just storms from the west lately, probably will be Beryl later this week.
Aloha, tuez, I’m the one from Canada, the Better Half is from Taxachusetts…! ;-)
That is great news. Hope you can get a lot accomplished when he is there.
bailey cat was adopted by her new human in april. i had no place for her — she couldn’t come here and i had to be out by the end of the month. luckily i found a nice cat person who was willing to take her skittishness on and they seem to be getting along ok. she was a rescued feral and not a real people kinda cat. i heard she was mousing up a storm and spending most of her time outside – her favorite place to be but comes in to eat and get water and when its stormy.
Yipee is right, my heart goes out to you. That is wicked. I run the AC just before bed to drop the humidity so I can sleep, otherwise just fans. ;)
yikes — beryl hit way north of ya — didn’t think you would get cooling off — dang, shudda picked that on up with your got rain comment…
oh geez, and here i was thinking you were below zero before factoring in the wind chill
Wow! I guess I’ve been out of the loop…..where is your bungalow compared to where you used to live….and compared to Jen’s place? How exciting for you.
*shiver* humidity and heat is the worst.
His specialty is organizing. At least he will get the tour of the planned insanity sewer which will waste 10 year domestic water supply dewatering our underground lakes so they can then trench for the sewer pipelines.Thank you for the help.
Great to hear you’re almost mobile again…! Remember, tho, baby steps…! *g*
Well, 32 degrees is the freezing point…!
As long as temps are in the 80s, I only run the AC from about 2 or 3 to 9, then I turn I use just the fans, which run 24/7. I set the thermostat to 83, unless I’m cleaning or we have company, so it’s always kinda warm around here.
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? the quaint little town of st helens oregon. its on the columbia river about 29 miles north and east of beaverton where i’ve been these past 4 months. its the town where the first twilight movie was filmed
careful baby steps. don’t want any repeats….
Beryl was way north but storms are fickle and it hit Sunday during the book salon and the last outer bands are now mowing out, but just wind, no rain. Those outer bands can stretch for 100s of miles and make no sense, when it comes to where they end up.
Hard to believe, I know, but in about three weeks the days will start getting shorter!
(Have the back-to-school commercials started? Christmas ads??)
yeah but when ya get that c thing going i get confused and forget that zero is freezing in c and 32 in f…. i know the hot temps have a lower number than f hot numbers and seem to think that the cold c numbers are colder too. i never did do good with metrics and liters and all those other measurement kinds i didn’t learn as a kid
How wonderful! How in the world did you find the place? Have you been out ‘shopping’ for a place? This is such terrific news.
I am so glad you are getting to keep Token. I felt really bad for the little guy.
I couldn’t give up my dog. The husband, parrot and cat are all free game. Don’t touch my dog.
all the news coverage centers on where the eye hits and i forget about those outer bands….
Sounds good. My thermostat is at 80 in the summer, day & night, 67 in winter (I nudge it up when Michelle isn’t looking) (grin).
hey mikey — how ya doing? *laughing* i was out on the porch tonight and it was almost 930 and still enough light to see clear to the corner.
You are much more generous then I. 83 in summer (but if outdoor temps are lower, the windows get opened and we hope for a draft) and 60 in winter. That said, I’m not a big fan of clothes, so it’s easier to make do in summer.

So Suz, tell us about your new place.
And how close is it to jujube?
Hey!

Mwop-mwop.

So glad things are working out, after all.
And now, I’m off to bed.
This is how you make every weekend a 3 day weekend. I figured it out a while back. A well timed nap on Saturday…
Good-bye to the hated bed…..but it served you well and got you some sleep while you got better. But I truly am thrilled about your impending move back to freedom. And, as tuez says, tell more! What’s the new place like.
I googled St. Helens and it is utterly charming! So much to look forward to.
Goodbye Doc.
My eyes are wet.
That’s wonderful news about the bungalow! I’m so happy you found a place that will accept Token. And it sounds like a cool little town, too.
on the down side one can only take off so much when its hot whereas when its cold ya just keep adding more and more layers….
Oh, that Token is a lucky, well-loved doggie.
Oh, and great choice for the music tonight…except, well, surely….it CAN’T have been 1967, can it?????? Gad, way to make me feel old…can picture/hear it playing on the radio beside my bed in my parents’ house in Pittsburgh…guess it was ’67, after all.
and now, as Suze says, “poof!”
It used to be, I could never sleep during the day (unless I was very, very sick). But now I can take naps. Hooray.
On the flip side, I used to hate how bars here in CA closed at 2:00 a.m. But now, I think, if I found myself in a club at 2 o’clock in the morning, I’d just start crying.

hey tejan — thanks! my family and fdl family has sure helped me get through this… jen has been such a trooper as has steph.
thanks for coming by tonight hon — g’nite tejan
hey coach — a sad day :( doc was one of the greats. how ya been?
hey margot — how’s the wilds of ohio tonight?
I saw Doc Watson in Golden Gate Park during the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival some years back. I’d never heard of Doc Watson before. As he played, I commented to my friend how good he was! Now, I know. RIP.

the bed did its job but i hated what it represented…. forking hospital bed – bedrest — not being independent etc…
That sounds great Suz. And you get to keep the cutest dogs on the internet, besides mine.
I’m happy that you found your new place and the little town sounds delightful. Many adventures ahead.
Too busy.
Son graduates on Thursday. Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday. Family in town for all.
cutest dog in the world, 12 lbs category :) sure gonna feel good to crawl into bed with my little belly warmer :) for a little guy, he sure can put out the heat in the winter
Hot Tuna – Hesitation Blues – 1970
From the period of their first album, “Hot Tuna”, 1970. Jorma’s playing is great, and Jack’s is even better.
woohoo!!! how awesome coach. does eagle court of honor mean he’s an eagle scout too?
i’m looking forward to exploring the area. iirc it has a vibrant downtown area with old brick buildings that are now shops etc. cute town park with a gazebo too. its bigger than tillamook — that county seat only has a pop of 5k and 24k in tillamook county — st helens is the county seat for columbia county and has 12k in the town and almost 50k in the county.
tis a great video bev… they were so young and so talented — iirc that video is from a kqed show
I remember KQED, it was one of the four tv channels growing up.
It certainly sounds like a great jumping off point for getting you back into the action…..and not too far from Jen and her family. I drive about 30 miles to get to my baby boys on the weekends. Of course I’m driving along the Pacific Coast, so that’s just pure pleasure. I’m just so pleased to hear that things are unfolding in such a positive way.

same here :) and ya had to use rabbit ears to see them — and a kid to change the channel since it was before remotes…
yikes — long days are usually not good ones.
g’nite dearie
1230
I resemble that remark – a channel changer. TVs in big steel cabinets, and rabbit ears. Johnny Carson late at nigh. Sleeping in a Murphy Bed.
Yes. Earned in October but waited for the family to come to town.
we had a console — about a 15″ color tv in the middle, record player under the left lid and an am/fm tuner with the knobs for the record player controls under the right lid. was our first color tv and we were very proud of it
Sorry Suz, got phone call that distracted me. Ohio isn’t too wild tonight, they rolled up the sidewalks early.:)
Night
that is so kewl — gonna be a huge weekend for him and you and the family. betcha he’s gotta big ole smile on his face and is looking forward to going off to college
not wild is better than wild in my book :)
g’nite margot
Winin’ Boy Blues
Hot Tuna is more my style….
So cool your movin in soon Suz. I never much liked moving out but always loved moving in.
Not really. I think college scares him to death, but he’s ready.
Right after the COH he leaves to staff at a high adventure Boy Scout Camp. That should settle him down.
hot tuna is still cookin :) iirc they are still touring — i think that’s what their website said when i featured them up top a while back….
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight? i don’t like anything about moving — either in or out — but i sure like all this move represents. if i only had a pair of ruby slippers to click it would be much easier :)
what makes it high adventure?
More physically demanding than regular BS camp. High Adventure programs within a regular BS camp are generally limited to older scouts, 1st class or higher rank.
Spanky & Our Gang – Sunday Will Never Be The Same (Original Stereo)
Memories?
Hot Tuna is still touring and producing CDs
I know ruby slippers aint cheap these daze.
We are cool an cloudy an a bit damp, about normal. Desperate on the look for the elusive “kid” to mow the lawn for the summer.
pain pill has kicked in — my typo to word ratio is running almost one to one… time to shut down the laptop and get horizontal
thank you for all the support ya’ll have given me — it has meant the world to me
g’nite all
Just finished my Tuesday must To Dos. Off to bed.
Take Care all, have a great Wednesday.
Sweet dreams, Suz, Bev, and all…!
