Hi, Girl! Yep, Friday night on my mind, too. Not that it’ll be particularly different, of course (retirement leaving time kind of ‘flexible’), but Friday night has some specialness to it in any case.
hey dearie — how was your day? yeah, same here — each day sorta is the same as every other day but fridays are still special – and m-word days are still the yuck :)
Eldest daughter gettin married on Saturday and youngest daughter gunna have her MA thesis published in October and I could give a shit who wins what election…I’m afraid we’re gunna hafta experience what the Germans did in 1933 before we get any change but when the roof falls in it’s gunna be our kids who kick the shit outta the plutocrats…I’m done.
norske!!! hot dayam its feeling like old home week around here — i forking love it!!! how the hell ya been citizen? the grandbaby is walking and starting to give her mom a run for the money and i’m enjoying every minute of it :)
Have a happy wedding, Norske. I’ve been following you for years, and I wish it could be comforting that we seem to be on the same page…but it all just makes me ….. wow, I can’t find a correct word. Beyond angst, tired to the bone, hopeless but not sad. Anyhow, congrats on the wedding and on your daughter’s MA publication. It’s the little moments in life that matter!
When I was looking for the Lou video one came up from the first Farm Aid. I’d forgotten he was there. Would have been the first time I saw him in person. I was smushed up by the stage for 13 hours, thought maybe I could spot my younger self in the video but no luck. Didn’t link to it because the video quality was particularly poor.
i was never fortunate enough to see lou — and i feel that way bout the hendrix april 69 concert at the oakland arena — its only available in mono and there is no video but it holds a special spot in my memory banks
hey bev — how’s married life? i’m able to bear a little bit more weight each day and walk a bit smoother and farther. jen still won’t let me drive tho :(
…and the son is head of his Baccalaureate High School English Dept, he’s writin and playin music, his 3 daughters are about ready to take over the world and I’m goin fishin’ as soon as we get this weddin’ thingie done. And did I mention that the wedding daughter is a math teacher and women’s (girls) basketball coach and the Minnesoat Lynx won their 3 rd in a row.
As for grandaughters, like my deceased mother-in-law said: “If I had known how wonderful grandchildren are I would have had ‘em first.” Doesn’t get much better’n that!
I’ve been thinking lately about how my dad always worked two jobs but somehow still found time to spend with the kids. I realize now that my mom and dad spent a lot of time creating happy memories for us. It’s truly a wonderful thing to have now that they are gone.
mazal tov dood! wow…. you totally are due a fishing trip :) how long due ya plan on being gone? has mrs norske retired now? its been a while but i think you had said she would be retiring soon iirc…
I’m also beyond angst but we have fought the good fight and taught our children well and we shouldn’t have any regrets except maybe I do because I have missed punchin Tom “Greatest Generation” Brokaw in the nose.
Time for us to take the measure of time and snuggle down with our grandkids and history…no regrets Dearie.
she flat out forbid me to move the car even one inch — all i said was that i thought perhaps i would try a test drive to the post office and lard love a duck, she got all uppity and demanding and insistent and flat out forbade me
jeebus — and i was the one wishing i had a steering wheel and brakes on my side of the car when she was learnig how to drive…
The internet is a wonderful research tool but I’ve found that bands with really ubiquitous names can make the task pretty difficult. Also, sometimes names have assumed new definitions during the interim. Here’s a tip, if you want to learn about the ’60s/’70s drummer known as Twink it’s best to Google his real name (John Alder).
Great song, Suzanne — I remember it fondly from the 8th grade. I had no idea they were Australian. That lead singer moves around like he has ants in his pants.
They’ve pushed it back to November. They seem to think that’s a clever idea (just in time for holiday gift-giving), but am not sure I agree: bookstores don’t do December readings b/c of the holiday season, plus it will be right after the election, so I’m concerned it may get lost in the shuffle.
We hit 90 today, with more great weather on the way. Last weekend, we celebrated Queen Victoria’s Birthday … so that was our long weekend and “summer kickoff party”
The crazy NBA, and the wacky AL East, too…! Never a dull moment…! So, what’s Harper’s recent remarks on Quebec’s students…? My Dad was a McGill grad…! ;-)
rut roh — pain pill kicked in. time for me to head to horizontal land… don’t let me leaving prevent the thread from hitting the happy lucky 99 — its been a while since we’ve had one … i’m just saying
Gonna have fun in the city, be with my girl she’s so pretty.
Even my old man loooks, gooooddd . . .
Great mid 60′s angst protest teen rage.
I had thought that Todd Rungren or someone like that led that band, interesting to read their wiki and find out it’s not the case, some 50 years later! lol
Great tune, great band, nice catch Sistah Suz, hope all is well.
The Better Half is greatly relieved since she’d received her military ID yesterday, now, she can now prove herself, after having her wallet swiped from under nose…! She head’s out to Pasadena on the 3rd of June for two weeks…! She was sweating it…!
As a public service, to get up to 99 for Suz, I am posting some stuff from the wonderful Montreal student demo ystrdy. The Quebecois show us how it is done!
In other news in Canada, Stephen Harper continues to destroy the country . Last week it was the Experimental Lakes Area. He is truly a prize.
And if you haven’t yet seen this young lady, do stop in. Victoria Grant, age 12, from Cambridge ON, explains why Canada is in debt in 6:34. And how to fix it. Works for USA, too.
Hi, Girl! Yep, Friday night on my mind, too. Not that it’ll be particularly different, of course (retirement leaving time kind of ‘flexible’), but Friday night has some specialness to it in any case.
And, on edit: Happy Thursday.
Long weekend too. What is everyone doin’?

Congrats on the daughters, man. Sounds like you’ve done a good job in the upbringin’ department. (hope the nuptials don’t pinch the wallet TOO hard).
Congrats, Comrade Norske…! I do hope ya’ll supplant Walker’s pompous okole, tho…! ;-)
Doing without mostly. You?
Well, I made it to 1, but I ain’t gonna make it to 1:30 lol. (eyes are closing as I’m typing this lol)
Niters to all. Be well.

LOL – how the kids turn on you, no keys. Bet you taught her how to drive too. I’m glad you are starting the load bearing. : )
I’ve been thinking lately about how my dad always worked two jobs but somehow still found time to spend with the kids. I realize now that my mom and dad spent a lot of time creating happy memories for us. It’s truly a wonderful thing to have now that they are gone.
Way cool. My favorite music era.
mazal tov dood! wow…. you totally are due a fishing trip :) how long due ya plan on being gone? has mrs norske retired now? its been a while but i think you had said she would be retiring soon iirc…
Not too shabby today, more Vitamin D than water vapor…! ;-)
Wonderful that you have those memories. Some of us who didn’t have ‘em from our youth have tried to create them for our own children. Nice work.
Citizen Dearie:

I love your mother-in-law’s quote. It’s a sentiment I’ve heard expressed by others but never so succinctly.
we had plenty of water vapor today but should be in the vit d for the majority of the weekend starting tomorrow…. 20 degrees warmer too
You make me happy……and proud of the fight we fought. I don’t think we’re done yet, but it is good to rest a bit. I sure wish I were going fishing!
dirty
I filled in the Electric Prunes gaps in my collection last year. Better late than something, something… I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Harper is keeping quiet, letting Charest and the NeoLibs fall apart in Quebec.
But the people in Quebec are waking up and will hopefully trigger Spring Uprising 2.0
Have a Great Weekend, Suz !
Gonna have fun in the city, be with my girl she’s so pretty.
Even my old man loooks, gooooddd . . .
