What’s on your mind?
is everyone watching the finale of american idol or something?
Hi, Suz. Nope, I’m watching cooking around the world.
hey dearie — how are you tonight? forking idol ran over 7 forking minutes and delayed the local news.
Are you feeling well today, Suz? You’ve been working hard on your recovery. I hope you are also doing lots of resting.
I never watch the local news.
Its primary season and I don’t think I’ve seen a single political ad
i did more than my fair share of resting today — sat out on the porch and watched the construction crews while reading and sipping coffee. i’ve learned (the hard way) to take it easy the day after a pt home session. i’m sure i’ll be continuing that tradition when i hit outpatient pt — they are much meaner :)
Good day at the beach…..no wind, not too hot. I think our rainy season is over, so I washed windows. That feels good…..if ‘vulnerable.’ Sometimes when I get all the all the windows washed, it feels just so open-to-the-world.
hey coach! how ya been — always good to see your fonts dood
evening, Suzzzz
I got a call from some kind of pollster. They asked if I planned to vote in the primary. I said absolutely.
Then they asked which primary I would vote in, R or D. I said I hadn’t made up my mind yet. They asked again and I said whichever one I had the most choices in. They hung up on me.
was another cold, windy, and wet day here but it sorta cleared a wee bit before sunset so i was able to snag some natural vit d. we are supposed to clear up and have nicer weather this weekend
hey ppd — how’s the monterey bay tonight?
I don’t know whose list I’m on, but I get calls almost daily these days from pollsters………I wish them a good day and hang up immediately. I owe them nothing!
ya let them off easy, eh?
Just fine, Suzzz — how’s everything up north, tonight?
been feeling like march not may all week. looking forward to it warming up — as long as it is not too warm. i don’t do well when it gets more than 80 outside…
Good evening Suz & LLN pups. Long live OccupyChicago and noNATO protesters!! Fabulous coverage by FDL’s own Kevin Gosztola.
beautiful weather here today, but cold and windy tonight
The last time we had a primary, I voted on the republican side so I could vote against Rick Perry.
Now I get all these robo calls appealing to “conservatives like us“. Today I erased Huckabee and Perry from the machine.
Actually, we could use more “conservatives like me“. LOL
hey past — how ya doing tonight? kevin’s wonderful! i wonder if he is up to going up to montreal and covering up there — now they have that law that prohibits protest, the protests have ramped up — i saw this tweet just a few ago:
i heard that you guys may get rain… hope it doesn’t mess up your holiday weekend
“To go against the dominant thinking of your friends,
of most of the people you see every day,
is perhaps the most difficult act of heroism you can have.”
Theodore H. White
I’ve been thinking of taking a Republican ballot in the primaries so I’ll get on their lists just so I can stay on top of their shit. On the other hand, I’ve been thinking of taking a Dem ballot in the primaries so I can no-vote the BigO….just to send an early message. I’m feeling like doing some shit kicking. But, hey, that’s just me.
*shrudder* texas robo-calls are something i don’t think i want to experience

I never actually listen to them beyond, “hello this is Mike Huckabee…..”
I just lay the phone down until its over.
it’s a safe bet that we’re never going to be seeing any Chicago cops or NYPD doin’ anything that heroic.
Maybe I’m naive, but I actually do wonder if any message is getting through to these Dems? How can they not get it? We live, I fear, in bizzaroland…. and it doesn’t seem to be getting better.
Guess who’s going to see Crosby, Stills and Nash here in Erie Pa. in late June? Me! Hee hee!
still tis enough to make the tummy turn… back when i was an r (i switched back in 08) i used to get those forking conservatives like us calls…..
With only 13 inches of annual rain, we don’t complain about water when it falls on us, regardless of the weekend
Levon
hey firebagger — ok, i’m officially certifiably jealous!!! how forking kewl!!! how was your day?
hey thatguy – how ya doing tonight?
I say make all the mischief you can! I know a couple people who temporarily registered as Republicans just to go to their caucus and stir things up by shouting support for Ron Paul (most of the dittohead repubs here are Romney people, he’s their great white Mormon hope).
The dem strategists understand that it is no longer about ideology. It is about fear.
Its not about voting for what you believe in, its about voting against what you are scared of.
Doing ok.
Yeah, but who’s out there that anyone can ‘believe in’? That’s the rub!
Hope I didn’t kill the thread!
Where’d everyone go?
no way — you guys are having a great conversation :) i’m enjoying it
snagging a bowl of ice cream? if i wasn’t still stuffed from dinner, i would be wanting a bowl myself :)
Okay, I’m going to be up for awhile….Dan Rather and John Mayer on the most bizarrely interesting show….Andy Cohen at Bravo. Why do ‘real’ people come to this show? Whatever……… sometimes I just get weary of political stuff and find mindless teevee to be relaxing. I should, I suppose, be ashamed, but I’m not.
I mean, Dan Rather….WTF????
Change of subject, maybe? Did anyone see the ring of fire eclipse Sunday evening? (full disclosure, saw the whole thing in southern Utah-it was cool. There were lots of people from southern CA who drove in to catch it).
more miles and robben
i’ve escaped into a few teevee shows myself… jen’s got direct tv and a whole lot more stations that i had on basic cable on the coast….
was gorgeous all last week — until sunday when it clouded up and eliminated any chance of seeing it. had to watch it forking online :(
There is so much mindless teevee….but then there are these amazing things we’d never know about…..like crab fishing! I found The Most Dangerous Catch to be actually stunning and interesting. A few night’s ago I saw a re=run of a show on PBS about matching service dogs with people who needed them. I’d met a kid on a plane not too long ago who had a service dog … his ‘wing-man’ for his epilepsy….and I was enthralled. But I learned so much about dogs in general and our common history. Just a wonderful education about how dogs and man go together. (Particularly touching since – for some reason – Jane’s February sharing about Katie worked its way up the myFDL list today.)
Sorry to hear about the clouds. My son & his family had intermittent clouds in SLC and only saw some of it. I had invited them to drive down with me, but my son couldn’t get off of work that day.
sister wives. i found the first two seasons just fascinating — learning about their lifestyle and the repercussions of being ‘out’.
i love the fantasy of say yes to the dress…
i was really ticked off — forking gorgeous all forking week and sun morning the clouds rolled in and completely filled teh sky. none of this partly cloudy crap — it was so cloudy there was no difference in light here during the eclipse
Hi folks!
Well Mrs. Spocko has the flu. I made her chicken noodle soup from scratch like a good husband. She said, “It smelled good at first, but the thought of chicken fat is making me nauseous.” So I put it in the fridge so I could scrape the fat off. She still couldn’t handle food, so I suggested Triskets. She said, “No. Too sharp.” She had a piece of bread instead. She’s acky and has a cough. She has been very stressed lately and I know how your immune system breaks down when you are under a lot of stress. I used to get ill after every major product launch. I would hold it off until the event was over an then relax, boom sick. I used to work like a manic to get ready for a one week vacation. Then I would be sick the first three days.
We American’s are so fucked up when it comes to work.
Oh, I don’t know that one…..I’m such a feminist that the idea of several women sharing the dipstick just makes me …well, anxious. But I can imagine that it would have been fascinating to try to understand how they think. And, too, also, I was so protective of my own children that I cannot imagine children being ‘product’…..but, hey, that’s just me.
hey spocko — i’m so sorry to hear mmrs spocko is ill. i hope she gets over her bug quickly and can appreciate your chicken soup…
Concerns about an abnormality detected by an ekg test a couple months ago resulted in a bunch of other tests, so much so that I endured more medical outpatient appointments in those weeks than the cumulative doctorings of my entire lifetime–with a final diagnosis that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my heart nor overall health.
I was cautioned, however, to give up my coffee and cigarettes, but declined such prescription because doing so would kill me….
Hi, spocko. Best wishes for your sweet wife. Gingerale. Soda crackers. I’m wondering what flu is floating around…..so many people laid low, as it were. And some of the coughies may actually have some form of whooping cough. Ugh…and long term, rib breaking, wanna die coughs! Best to both of you.
Hi robertarend. Give up the cigarettes, but not the coffee. Coffee is just too good!
Wow, robert, you’ve had some stuff to muddle through. Glad you are doing okay. And now they are saying that coffee is good.
the way it was set up originally was they all lived in a house that had three houses connected into one — each with their own kitchen, living room etc. they seemed to have a system and setup that worked. then he brought in the 4th wife and they ended up moving from utah to las vegas because of fear of arrest due to the airing of season one.
now they are all in 4 different houses that are not even on the sae street — the dynamic is changed and its been a struggle for all of them. they seem to have as many kids as the duggars but with 4 moms there is a lot more help. it worked better with them all under one roof.
hey robert — dayam and yahooo and i totally understand. how goes the house rebuilding?
I’m still marveling that Dan Rather was on late night with Andy Cohen. If that’s what it takes to sell books, I just don’t know! Last moments were of Andy, Dan and John Mayer drinking shots. I’m not easily boggled….but I’m boggled!
coffee is the elixir of life – at least my life :)
I remember Woody Allen’s “Sleeper” in which the future found medical reversal on cigarettes, that, in fact, smoking actually was healthy.
I stand by Allen’s uncanny prophetic vision….
i’m not much of a drinker but i would love to drink shots with dan rather… i think he would have wonderful stories to tell with a few shots under his belt…
And does the one man actually pay all the expenses, or are the taxpayers paying for medicaid, food stamps and so forth? Everyone is dissing that fool with the 30 kids by 11 women….rightly so, I’d say….but what about these multiple wife families. Someone is supporting these folks, and I’d just as soon that it not be the taxpayer.
His favorite interviews were with Martin Luther King, Jr. and with Mother Teresa. Well, yeah!
Rebuilding goes on, but as slow as ever. Not allowed to smoke inside these temp quarters. Can’t wait to get back home where I can chain smoke while chatting on LLNFDL….
Well, guess I can’t argue with that, Woody’s still alive and kickin’, right? Seriously though, I think a lot of it is in the genes, my grandfather smoked a pipe all of his adult life, and lived to be 94.
two of the 3 wives worked outside the home — and lost their jobs as a result of season 1 iirc. as far as i can tell, they are not on any assistance — living on savings and what they have gotten from the show while starting over in vegas. i’m thinking he might have lost his job too but they were entirely self-sufficient and not supported by anyone or anything other than themselves
i have to go outside to smoke too. am really looking foreward to getting my own place again
Same with my grandfather, but my Dad died at 59, but I think more to grab the chance to get away from my mother than due to smoking….
What’s that old gag? Why do most men die before their wives?
ANSWER: Because they want to!
HA! lol
i see by my typo to word ratio that it’s time for me to get horizontal. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight pups.
g’nite all
Pleasant dream, Suzanne. And onward and up tomorrow. Your fans are with you!
Gingerale! Great idea!
I’m pretty sure I’ll have this flu in 3-5 days. We always catch what the other has. Maybe I’ll freeze some of the soup.
G’nite, Suz, sweet dreams. I think it’s time to hit the hay also. Good nite Robert, Dearie, spocko. Hope your wife gets to feeling better soon, spocko.
I’ve become a Milesphile over the last 6 months. Check out “Miles for Lovers,” which I listen to about 10 times a week. Sublime. Thanks, Suz.
emerson! so glad ya liked it dood (and stopped by)
