g’evening peeps — got the aok to start walking (no limits on weight bearing other than if it hurts don’t do it) and to take off the brace when i’m comfortable doing so. will be starting outpatient pt soon (range of motion and gait training) and see the surgeon again in 6 weeks.
hot dayam weight bearing hurts but feels good all at the same time — had to take my pain pill a little earlier tonight
thanks dood — i gotta admit i was gobsmacked when the doc said that — jen was overjoyed but i was stunned — it was more than i had figured. i had thought maybe limited weight bearing and come back in a couple weeks — not a ‘go for it and take off the brace’ kinda thing…
the home pt lady called late this afternoon and set up an appt to come by tomorrow. she said i will have a couple more home visits until i start outpatient — when i can bear full weight i can drive :)
i’m sure feeling the little walks down the hallway (still using the walker to bear some of my weight) i took tonight. am looking forward to walking faster — julsie beat me walking down the hallway today
I know this has been a hard time, but the wonderment of your little grandbaby outwalking you down the hall is pretty special. Bonding with my grandbaby boys…..exhausting as it was….was a gift to me. Once in a lifetime!
The pre-school had a Mothers Day luncheon yesterday. I’m still laughing. My baby boys are so big! They looked like the kids in the oldest group even though they are in the youngest group. Their mom came from work; their dear Auntie came from home. They got lots of cuddles. They were all about, “Mom, can we have lunch now????”
Keep on smiling! It cracks me up to see the genes come down the family tree. When my son-in-law took the dog and his kids to the vet, the vet took one look at him and said, “Oh, yeah, you breed true.” I’m still laughing at that one! My niece also breeds true…..her daughters are little clones. So cute!
I have been playing computer scrabble like a madwoman, so haven’t noticed much about my surroundings. Oh i did hear that the school(s) that cancelled a day of classes when those animals were loose were all upset that the state wouldn’t grant them a “snow day.”
julsie looks just like her mom — jen calls her ‘my little mini-me’ but i’m starting to think that she’s gotta lotta of her grammy in her *bwa-hahahaha*
Same as ever, Suz. :-) This week our city had the dubious honor of busting Rushbo. They told no one in town that the old lardbutt was going to be here, either. Good thing!
I’m glad to see you’re getting better and stronger!
Just part of your cross-country future walking tour. Was simply the first walking song that came to mind. I’ll ask you to dance after a little pt.
That little one is going to be wondering what you’ve been in bed for so long for. Nice picture of her and you going down the hall, verbally painted. Thanks for that.
Hey, nonq, thanks for all the sharing on your garden. I enjoy reading about the things coming up. My daughter has blue lake beans (which never get to mature since the boys eat them as soon as they see them) and tomatoes finally setting and peppers setting………..a new adventure for her and her kids. And my dad is growing a Stupice tomato that none of us had heard about til I read about ‘em on FDL. Much fun!
i also looked at walking after midnight (by both patsy cline and a bluesy version by kelly clarkson) and dancing in the street by springsteen — lotsa good dancing/walking songs out there
I picked up a few bales of old barley straw today, to chop for mulch. I will attempt to set out a few transplants this weekend. We normally wait until June around here to do that.
Just a funny: my grandsons were in House when they were infants, and were ‘baby’ in some Italian movie filmed in LA, but they are so not show offs. At the pre-school event, they were up on the platform with 25 singing kids, and my boys were looking at all the moms and grandmoms in the audience and just kind of stunned……at opposite ends of the platform….I saw one look at the other and I imagined him saying, “Bro, we aren’t in Kansas anymore.”
Their dad has a degree in cinematography and an interest in the biz. Even tho they were preemies, he got them signed up right away. And it was kind of fun, if unexpected, for them to be Cuddy’s baby….they had their own trailer and their own teacher and nurse. Short lived adventure. Now they are just regular little kids. And I’m glad for that!
Brain bleach is a little better than taking a red-hot poker to your eyes. I know exactly what you mean. We have words for folks like Gregory here in Missouri…starting with a word that sounds exactly like a farm implement.
Plucked a big handful of spinach from the stuff that survived the past winter. Down to 50 tonight and it is still thriving. Enough for a meal for two every five days, sweet and tender, I’m simply eating it raw. Chard and new spinach is sprouting, I sowed radishes in amongst everything, another week and some of those will be big enough to munch.
Won’t happen…..any more than Obama will get frogwalked for drone-killing American citizens. We are a nation of killers…..sad, but true. I liked it better when CIA did such stuff without our knowledge. Yes, shame on me.
I’m turning in with a big smile for you Suzanne. Best news I’ve heard all day is your OK to begin using your knee again. Be good, be careful and don’t pick up that toddler again unless you are already seated. Ha! Nighters peeps. So so glad.
The insurance company has ordered the restorers to be done by June 16th, else face the consequences of having to take over funding of my temporary housing.
To date: I would rate Liberty Mutual Insurance 5 stars, but the owner of the restoration outfit 2 stars.
Angie’s list will be getting a full report fom me….
On the way out, these are not baby veggies, it is just nice to eat them as soon as they develope. Someone with a couple tons of 3 foot long zucchini probably wishes they would have started using them when they were 6-8 inches in size. ;^)
Well, I’m nodding off….so I might as well go nod off. Suz, I’m glad you’re making tangible progress! It may feel like the other direction, but it’s all downhill from here.
surgeon is doing my followup care from now on and not the fracture clinic. i think the ‘acceptable level of deformity’ has them a little concerned and they want to keep an eye on it now that i’m going to be really working it… the surgeon is over at sunnyside (where i was hospitalized) so i gotta go to clackamas instead of interstate in pdx but its a prettier drive so it all balances out :)
sorry to bail pups but i’m gonna take another pain pill and zone out… been a long day and a painful evening but totally forking worth it :) thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
No “baby” carrots are nothing more than whole carrots cut up to look like “babies”. Otherwise they’d have tops and roots showing. But no, they are bald. And spinach, “baby” spinach have their stems. Hardly more tender.
Would we eat “baby” apples, cherries, pineapples, tomatoes, peppers, or oranges. Hell no.
It’s just a marketing ploy and a way to get more “seasons”, hence money out of select vegetables.
Liberty Mutual has so far only denied our request for reinbursement of the $1900 we had to put out to save The Merlin’s (cat) life after smoke inhalation….
Policy clearly states doesn’t cover cats or fish….
I should have gone to bed when I said I was going to, the first time. Baby radishes, carrots or beets whatever from the garden are real. For example, in a row of carrots I will thin the carrots when they are small and maybe half grown, 3-4 inches long and they are babies and tender and especially sweet, but you are right about the marketed, cut up stuff in the produce section.
Hi Suz, Good Morning! Hey, that is awesome news from the doc. I remember when I first got the cast off my wrist and switched to the brace, it hurt from the loss of muscle support more than almost anything I have ever felt. Yikes. It does build up, the strength, after a while, but dayam. At first, pain. So be really careful and don’t overdo.
But yeah, I am walking on sunshine to hear this great report! And I too imagined little Jules beating you down the hall. LOL. Thanks for the image.
I have been thinking a lot lately about the personality we are born with. I know I was determined to be independent from day one, pretty much. Once I thought, “Oh poor little bg, having to be so strong as a child.” Later I came to realize that it was not sad, it was just how I was wired.
hey bg — i’m trying to be very mindful about not overdoing — i sure as hell paid the price for all those trips down the hall and back last night :)
it was pretty funny how fast she took off down the hall — like she knew it was a race or something and she was so gleeful in that win. i think she may be wired more like me — she’s more independent and stubborn than her mom.
OK Suz,
I think you have good news?
Hey, Suzanne………..what’s up?
Hey Dearie,
Walking on something, I think, like someone’s weight bearing knee.
g’evening peeps — got the aok to start walking (no limits on weight bearing other than if it hurts don’t do it) and to take off the brace when i’m comfortable doing so. will be starting outpatient pt soon (range of motion and gait training) and see the surgeon again in 6 weeks.
hot dayam weight bearing hurts but feels good all at the same time — had to take my pain pill a little earlier tonight
hey nonq — how ya doing tonight — sure do!!!
I hope I am as happy as you must be. Congrats girl!!!
hey dearie — how was your day? mine was fucking fantastic!!!
thanks dood — i gotta admit i was gobsmacked when the doc said that — jen was overjoyed but i was stunned — it was more than i had figured. i had thought maybe limited weight bearing and come back in a couple weeks — not a ‘go for it and take off the brace’ kinda thing…
Good you are up and about! Take it easy…..but keep on keeping on.
the home pt lady called late this afternoon and set up an appt to come by tomorrow. she said i will have a couple more home visits until i start outpatient — when i can bear full weight i can drive :)
Congrats Suz.
Hi everyone.
Wow…..driving is going to be so cool. Freedom!
Hey, tuez…..what’s new with you?
i’m sure feeling the little walks down the hallway (still using the walker to bear some of my weight) i took tonight. am looking forward to walking faster — julsie beat me walking down the hallway today
I’m mostly over this fuckin’ cold. Nothing like being miserable for no good reason.
hey tuez — thanks :) how’s floriday tonight?
Oh good! I was hoping to hear this news. Happy for you!
Expanding horizons, traveling again, woohoo!
freedom!!!
We finally got rain, two days in a row. Other than that, I’ve been too busy blowing my nose to know what is going on.
colds are miserable — especially when its warm outside… glad you are feeling better tuez
I know this has been a hard time, but the wonderment of your little grandbaby outwalking you down the hall is pretty special. Bonding with my grandbaby boys…..exhausting as it was….was a gift to me. Once in a lifetime!
i looked at that one for tonight’s post but decided against it since i am in portland and not memphis… tis a great song
hey margot – thanks :) how’s the wilds of ohio tonight?
The pre-school had a Mothers Day luncheon yesterday. I’m still laughing. My baby boys are so big! They looked like the kids in the oldest group even though they are in the youngest group. Their mom came from work; their dear Auntie came from home. They got lots of cuddles. They were all about, “Mom, can we have lunch now????”
her personality is starting to really show — she’s gotta stubborn streak a mile wide
*innocent look*
i have no idea where she got that one
Keep on smiling! It cracks me up to see the genes come down the family tree. When my son-in-law took the dog and his kids to the vet, the vet took one look at him and said, “Oh, yeah, you breed true.” I’m still laughing at that one! My niece also breeds true…..her daughters are little clones. So cute!
::snort:: I understand, my grandbaby somehow turned up stubborn, too.
Beep beep’m beep beep yeah
I have been playing computer scrabble like a madwoman, so haven’t noticed much about my surroundings. Oh i did hear that the school(s) that cancelled a day of classes when those animals were loose were all upset that the state wouldn’t grant them a “snow day.”
shadow! so good to see your fonts again… how ya been?
Bull Mountain Bridge.
julsie looks just like her mom — jen calls her ‘my little mini-me’ but i’m starting to think that she’s gotta lotta of her grammy in her *bwa-hahahaha*
ohio would prefer to have little kids walking to and from school while there are lions and tigers and bears out running wild??? jeebus margot
hey thatguy — how ya doing tonight?
Same as ever, Suz. :-) This week our city had the dubious honor of busting Rushbo. They told no one in town that the old lardbutt was going to be here, either. Good thing!
I’m glad to see you’re getting better and stronger!
Hey, works for me! >:-O
Ehh, I need to refill my Lexapro so I’m cranky.
too bad that bust was bronze and not a handcuff and frog-march kinda bust….
Just part of your cross-country future walking tour. Was simply the first walking song that came to mind. I’ll ask you to dance after a little pt.
That little one is going to be wondering what you’ve been in bed for so long for. Nice picture of her and you going down the hall, verbally painted. Thanks for that.
I would have paid to see that…
Ohio just wants to be like Florida. We have bears, monkeys and George Zimmerman running loose, among other things.
Much fun!
well, from what I understand the state just wants the kids to actually make up the day.
i also looked at walking after midnight (by both patsy cline and a bluesy version by kelly clarkson) and dancing in the street by springsteen — lotsa good dancing/walking songs out there
i’m still wanting to see karl fucking rove frog-marched….
Bears and monkeys? Actually I guess I’m more scared of the armed humans.
oh — i thought it meant they school district was going to be penalized or fined
well crap — that was supposed to be in reply to nonq…. forking pain pill has me making boo-boos early tonight
walking

how cool! how did they come to be on house and in a movie?
My daughter has lettuce she can clip and the beans, of course. So much to learn, and so much fun in the learning.
I would give up my 401k to see Rove in dusky orange, frog-walking!
what’s left of it, anyway…
I was gonna say, they already got mine, without the frog walking.
I’ve never been able to get the disgusting image of David Gregory dancing with Rove out of my mind….
Their dad has a degree in cinematography and an interest in the biz. Even tho they were preemies, he got them signed up right away. And it was kind of fun, if unexpected, for them to be Cuddy’s baby….they had their own trailer and their own teacher and nurse. Short lived adventure. Now they are just regular little kids. i think rove, boosh and darth cheney would all look good in prison orange and chromed cuffs and leg irons as assessories

hey robert — how goes the repairs on the house? are you back in your home yet?
what great memorabilia for their baby books — funny how they started out so small as preemies and ended up bigger than their other pre-schoolers
Won’t happen…..any more than Obama will get frogwalked for drone-killing American citizens. We are a nation of killers…..sad, but true. I liked it better when CIA did such stuff without our knowledge. Yes, shame on me.
Still exiled….
yum! baby spinach is sooo good
One of my fav songs!
fuck.. how much longer are they saying?
hey mzchief — how ya doing tonight? glad ya liked it :)
Pretty good and you, Suz?
Had a great time at the book presentation of “The Man Who Gave Up Money.” Interesting.
Can someone explain to me the “baby” vegetable thing? I just don’t get it, aside from not having to cut it up.
I’m turning in with a big smile for you Suzanne. Best news I’ve heard all day is your OK to begin using your knee again. Be good, be careful and don’t pick up that toddler again unless you are already seated. Ha! Nighters peeps. So so glad.

They’re more tender?
i’m doing good =- had a great doc appt — see my comment at #4 for details — i’ve not heard of that book before
On the way out, these are not baby veggies, it is just nice to eat them as soon as they develope. Someone with a couple tons of 3 foot long zucchini probably wishes they would have started using them when they were 6-8 inches in size. ;^)
Too bad Ms. “Happy Clappy” Dumas ruined this song.
aw, thanks g’nite nonq
thanks goodness your ins co is standing up for ya (and not trying to weasel outta their responsibilities like the forking contractor is)
Well, I’m nodding off….so I might as well go nod off. Suz, I’m glad you’re making tangible progress! It may feel like the other direction, but it’s all downhill from here.
Y’all take care!
hey storyofo — how ya doing tonight?
g’nite shadow
Good news. So at least another surgeon follow-up to make sure things are OK?
Heck, the insurance company sent me a 55″ LG LED TV to replace my 2 analog RCA consoles….
surgeon is doing my followup care from now on and not the fracture clinic. i think the ‘acceptable level of deformity’ has them a little concerned and they want to keep an eye on it now that i’m going to be really working it… the surgeon is over at sunnyside (where i was hospitalized) so i gotta go to clackamas instead of interstate in pdx but its a prettier drive so it all balances out :)
wow – i can see why you are giving them 5 stars!
sorry to bail pups but i’m gonna take another pain pill and zone out… been a long day and a painful evening but totally forking worth it :) thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all

And congrats again. The future is bright!!!!!
Clackamas is a little ‘burb with some nice features. Sounds like if all goes well you will get to use your wheels again. :-)
Niters, Suz.
