In the wake of recent events concerning an ancient Australian who has become an international rogue, I cannot help but wonder which quote most accurately sums up his legacy:
“Rupert Murdoch is not a fit person to exercise the stewardship of a major international company”
[Fox News] is “wholly without merit, both factually and legally.”
Or maybe from Rupert’s own mouth it is this:
Our reputation is more important than the last hundred million dollars.
But until he hits that point, the sewer is fine.

I rather enjoyed this cliffhanger from a kind of bad news-good news story in today’s catch:
I would have to go with 2. He sounds as though a jury would have no problem deciding. If i heard my friend talk like that i would think stroke.
“Steward” isn’t exactly the word that comes to mind.
Licenses to do business refused because of moral turpitude, makes me look with hopefulness at Wall Street and all of our financial mogul horde.
Good morning, pups. We’ve got Dowd and Friedman today. In “Libertine on the Loose” MoDo tells a chilling election ghost story: How Dominique Strauss-Kahn haunts the Socialist Party he once was poised to take to the Élysée Palace. The Moustache of Wisdom poses a question: “Tanks, Guns or Scholarships?” He suggests we stop sending planes and tanks to the Arab world and start sending scholarships instead. Just look at the difference it’s making in Lebanon.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got a variety of bagels with cream cheese. I’ve also got some herbed cream cheese with herbs from the garden. I think I’d have to go with #2 above, if only it were the actual quote… It’s amazing how much easier it is to type when Winslow is out in the garden instead of “helping.” Have a great day.
The mechanism is already in place at the FCC with the broadcast license renewal process. But the mechanism is missing a few parts, like commissioners and a government willing to use it.
The airwaves used to belong to the people. Apparently on the other side of the pond they still do.
Thanks, Marion. Can we start sending scholarships to our own students, instead of tanks – so many who needed the job get killed by going into the military.
if you are going to get your opinion of reputation from a poll of fox listeners, sorry to say, wiretapping for power will enhance their opinion of fox
I am not being snarky here either
The real question is: What will Rupert do?
Available data suggests that both Murdoch’s would have to remove themselves from management roles if they want to keep their British holdings. And Bsky is a MAJOR holding of News Corp. Or they could just sell their British holdings.
But foremost, they must prevent the same thing from happening here in America, since the Aussies are already looking and I’d bet they’ll find more hacking. Right now, it looks like they’d got DoJ bought off to a large degree, nobody is really looking and they won’t unless they have to. Fox is still powerful here, especially given Obama’s reluctence to make waves.
Boxturtle (Personally, I hope it’s this that he’s remembered for)
Just another way of keeping government from working, don’t approve nominations.
Good morning all,
Another perfected Randian.
They rise to the top, like the scum in a cesspool .
Dunno why. Ain’t nobody looking for foxes in the henhouse here. And they won’t. Too Big To Fail. Looking forward. National security.
Boxturtle (We can’t even protest where the 1% might hear or see us!)
randanian?
do not know the reference
Wouldn’t you love to be holder? Come in late, go home early and never have to look at your inbox . He does look savvy at doing nothing, I must say.
I’d have quit long ago. I think my moral standards would keep me from doing the kind of job Obama wants done.
Boxturtle (Ain’t saying nuthin’ ’bout Holders moral standards, just sayin’)
The Joe Goebbels of the modern era. Of course there were those that maintained Joe was nothing more than an entertainer.
When does the Diner open?
The remakes of 2 movies I’d pay to see.” The Untouchables ” starring Murdoch and a cast of thousands of 1%ers. The ad blitz would cost billions, maybe trillions alone. ” They Were Expendable ” starring no one famous but including everyone you know making up the 99%. No ad campaign budget planned, whatsoever. Who do you think gets to sleep with Oscar? And who’s providing the security detail ensuring a restful, safe snooze? Hunter would say, ” the scum continues to rise. “
in five minutes usually. it varies. but not by much
Murdoch as Capone?
It’s “Randian,” perris, and it refers to disciples of Ayn Rand.
Yeah, around 8 a.m. EDT.
got it, thnx ms.M
I do believe…without benefit of facts to back it up…that the Murdoch downfall, has real political consequences. I think that whatever blackmailing and control they had, is now greatly diminished. At the same time, I am certain Murdoch still has a fist on some big secrets, keeping some folks in check until he can’t hold em anymore.
The wind is changing. With the fail of austerity measures, the downfall of Murcock…these are the big changes, that tell me a shift is coming.
