not good news at the doc’s today — the lifted up and glued together section of the tibia head is back down — i didn’t see the xray so i don’t know how much down it is — mr bushmann has sent an electronic message to the surgeon, dr toll, to review today’s xrays and see if it is an acceptable level or if it will need more surgery. he put my brace back to the 60 degree setting (from the 90 it has been for the past month) because he said it will give the knee more support at 60 maximum degrees of bend. he said that it may mean that i need total knee replacement now — gonna depend on what the surgeon says. i should know by friday — everything is on hold until then
i could use some distracting — anyone know any dirty haiku’s?
I made it to yoga yesterday for the first time in about three months. Flexibility was good, balance was good, endurance was not so good. About what you would expect.
I dug out my bathroom scale and I am under 200 pounds for the first time in over 10 years. I seem to have dropped about 25 pounds in the last year without trying.
Everybody else seems to be getting really old really fast. I don’t seem to have aged in 10 years. It’s kind of spooky.
I’m now the age my father was when I was eight. He was freaking old – pure white hair, wouldn’t climb stairs, couldn’t do anything because he was too old.
So sorry to hear that something’s awry…..hope it works out without too much more down time. Wish I had a funny joke to tell you, but I always screw up the punch line. Hopeless in the joke dept.
Great music, Suzanne! I’ll be looking into this band.
Holy fuck, I think that I might seriously talk to the MDs about knee replacement vs. more surgery to fix a really bad knee injury. Which surgery offers a more stable recovery? My Dad had his knee replaced, and I’m not kidding you, the recovery was hell for him. But one year later, he was riding a bicycle.
Like I say, spooky. My brother is 13 years older than me, pure white hair, age spots, numerous fairly serious health problems. He has already hit the shrinking stage.
I don’t have a single grey hair, my beard is about half grey but hasn’t added any new grey hairs in a few years.
My triglyceride levels collapsed last year from double the safe level that they had been at for years to exactly normal. I had them run the tests again and they came back the same.
I’m 51 next month. My body is not supposed to be spontaneously healing.
I didn’t win powerball tonight. Not only did I not win, I didn’t win in such a spectacular way, I should win just based on bad luck. I played 3 tickets, so 15 regular numbers, 3 powerball numbers and 1 power play or whatever it’s called. Okay so I played 19 completely different numbers and not a single fuckin’ one of them was right. That defies the odds of probability. 19 numbers out of 59 and not one was right.
This is why I only play the lottery once every 2 or 3 years.
hey ce — glad you liked it. they just released this song and video this month iirc. how’s cleveland tonight?
i had my left replaced in 2003 and it took me a fucking year to get back to ‘normal’ afterwards…. its a rough fucking surgery. the doc has said that its not as bad now as it was 9 years ago when i had my left one done — that techniques and technology has improved it but…. i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed
And, Suz, I remind you that my brother-in-law has had both knees replaced and my next door neighbor had both of her knees replaced…….and both are thrilled and totally mobile. Happy they did it early rather than later.
California for the next couple of weeks, then one last trip to Portland/Seattle. It’s kind of hard to justify driving up there to hang signs about not driving so much. I do have a sick (as in homicidally insane) friend I need to check up on in Portland though.
That may happen, never know. A doc told me I had a pretty malformed bone that healed in my hand. (I tripped on a bedspread and put my hand out and a finger caught against the doorway.)
“Can I play the piano?” I asked him.
“I don’t know. Could you ever play the piano?” lol…he said if it was a few degrees more he would have done surgery.
i just had a buncha blood work done and everything was great except i was very low on vit d. doc has me on prescription vit d – 50,000 units (one pill thankfully) per week in addition to calcium supplements. every other thing tested for was totally normal — made me feel like i was doing something right (other than the vit d deficiency)
As for poetry, Suzanne, may I suggest the work of Billy Collins (not the scottish comedian) he was U.S. poet lauriat a couple years back and writes very light, funny poems. I’ll find one now…
Well, then you know much more than I do. We are here to support your decision.
Weather is beautiful and sunny. MrCE is away at a conference and I’m up way too late.
i’m in the ‘burbs now and have had to give up the beach house due to the stairs there (and my landlord wanting to move back in). be sure to let me know when ya head up this way — we can have a latte or something
i’ve always wanted to go to a tropical island — i went to hawaii but i was 2 months pregnant with jen and threw up the entire trip. i don’t count that as a tropical vacation
bora bora, fiji, somewhere where its not too hot and has gentle breezes to cool me off when i am visited by my own personal summer…
Both had it done within last few years. B-in-L had one maybe 5 years ago and the other 2 years ago. Recovery in a couple of months; full recovery in 6 months. Next door neighbor lady had hers done consecutively and a fast recovery each time. She’s still a little gimpy but is thrilled to have zero pain and gets around great. Stairs and all. The rehab period is ‘testy’…. but then it all settled in for each of them. Maybe 6 weeks of rehab (two in rehab center, 4 at home.) I’m probably making it sound too easy, but even if time period were doubled, it’s still good. I know it didn’t take either of them more than 5 months or so to be fully mobile and pain free….and they were certainly walking before that.
They’re just scratching the surface of what D3 deficiency does. Breast cancer. SAD. Know why African-Americans have a higher rate of heart attacks? Someone finally checked the time of year – it happens during the winter. Same thing with Orthodox Jews and Muslims who wear clothing that covers their entire body.
But if the knee replacement is due to arthritis, stem cell replacement is on the horizon. Well, I gather it’s here, somewhere, maybe not in this country yet.
so i’ve learned since i got the diagnosis. amazing stuff — sleep problems, depression, even shedding hair in the winter kinda stuff… is tied into the coronary system too
In two nights — he is having a blast in Baltimore. And our son is working in Delaware for a few months, and can visit my Dad. That is so wonderful for us — my Dad, newly widowed, loves, loves to see Jack.
I usually have all the parts in one box after teenage-wanker-of-the-house gets adventurous with Dad’s tools.
This time, it was Dad who did the deed, and the parts had to be picked off of the garage floor. So I am likely missing a bunch of screws and spacers. Good thing I never throw anything away.
That’s so great that your son can visit your dad. I’ve never forgotten the wonderful overnight’s I spent at my granddad’s house when he was a widower. Really important to have those wonderful memories. I was 20 or so, and would drive the couple of hours and stay over. He’d take me to town for dinner. Shortly after, he moved closer to my mom&dad’s house, which was wonderful for all.
Thanks Dearie,
My son, super dude at 30, that we love to death, is just a wonderful grandson. He is a respectable business person that makes his grandparents feel special. And he does a great job.
And I know that I’ve mentioned that my dad moved near my brother and me. My daughter and her twins also live nearby. It’s been great……and while I’ve had 5 grandkids in 4+ years, my dad has had 7 greatgrandkids in that time! So good for him! And he gets to see the twins almost every weekend for the kind of visit that is ‘just enough’…. brief and joyful.
Yes, WI is going down the tubes, but I’m fair to middling. Our not so very beloved governor has removed seniority pay raises and educational based pay-raises from base salaries of public employees and all base salaries will be reduced to the lowest new hire rate. Potentially huge pay cuts for any new contracts.
Three minute audio clip from AFSCME pres gives the basics.
And they will be all surprised and shit when no one wants to be a teacher. Very sad. Very disrespectful. I can’t quite figure out why Americans are not emigrating in huge numbers.
My daughter has her temps and she is pretty alert with the driving lessons. She needs to built her self-confidence a tiny bit on the road. The garden is growing, slowly. The May temps we had at the beginning of March have become seasonably normal again and much cooler.
It’s cool how you can hear them before you see them! We heard ours 2 days before watching them look for food. I think of it as scoping out the summer house after a winter retreat.
Just a continuation of the gutting of public education to enable total privatization. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel either didn’t get the full extent of the Gov’s administrative rule change or simply ignored it to support him.
My take is that Walker has $6M more (out of state money) than his opposition in the recall and the press doesn’t want to loose that potential revenue by reporting the facts.
While she’s got the temp, take her to drive in as many conditions as possible! I had all my kids drive on ice and snow. Made ‘em all learn on manual transmission before they ever drove an automatic. We had an empty K-Mart parking lot that they could do the ice on without fear of hitting anything…or anyone! Lots of time on the road with Mom before they ever went for their license. They all did just fine.
fuckfuckfuckfuck,outrage,fuck
As goes Wisconsin so goes Washington. Or not.
I’m sincerely hoping people will stop watching the Greatest Show On Earth: “The U.S.A. Election”, and start micro-managing their local shenanigans. And looking at their Chief of Police, Judges, Commissioners( man, there’s a hotbed of whores), etc.
Fuck the Circus!
woohoo, but I had a feeling about it being very important to stop by tonight to see how you were progressing with your injuries. I feel bad about the news, but you will eventually be functional as ever and maybe just have to bounce those grand-kids on artificial knees.
I read you’ve given up your old digs. Any luck with determining where you might be heading and calling home?
My kids didn’t get their license until they were 18. Removed all the expensive driving school, all the expensive(uber-expensive) insurance and set the goal at 18 and legal. Just like the Europeans.
They drove in every weather condition, totally scaring the crap out of me, the back seat driver, going to Big City protests or concerts they lined up. That was back in the glory days when we had company perks like hotel points earned.
I miss perks!!!!!!!!!
There has been more investigative blogger coming up with past serious ALEC ties for many of the people in Walker’s appointments to various state departments. One of his staunchest state legislator supporters starting publicly making a separation from Walker over the weekend, speculation that Walker could be close to a formal John Doe indictment. We’ve got our fingers crossed on that one, too.
I have to admit that I was thrilled that my kids could drive at 16. I was working and it freed them up to get to school or to orthodontist or home from sports practice, if needed. They also walked a great deal…..small town, schools relatively near. Lots of their friends had accidents early after getting their license, but my kids had hours and hours of road time with me, and they avoided that pitfall.
I’m getting the questions about if we find her a car, does she get to have it all to herself and not let me ever use it or even ride in it? Just me buying a second vehicle (for her to use when she needs to) is not cool enough, apparently.
His persona is his P.R. His handlers are pushing the envelope with this particular model of Public Official Hand-puppet.
He is distracting us all from the real shit. THAT’S his job. Focus on the Craptastic and loose your periphiral sense of the real Land Grab, Police State, Pregnant Teens, Unwanted Children, No Jobs, No Jobs Above Servile for the Brightest,……I can’t keep listing,it just keeps growing.
Time to focus on the community, whatever it’s form.
Nope! It’s your car that you permit her to use as needed and as appropriate.
Okay, I did buy a cute car for my kids, but there was never any sense that they ‘owned’ it or had ‘control’ over it. Well, they were responsible for it. Funny, it’s been years, and I can’t even remember who paid for gas. I covered insurance (for my own protection!), but they all worked, when they weren’t involved in sports seasons, and they certainly paid for gas. My kids were far from perfect, but they were pretty responsible…..and certainly as to the car. They didn’t want to lose their access to it!
We the people,in Wa, are under attack from the same MoFo Entity. Americans For Prosperity and all their insidious tiny local splinter groups are working their tapeworm wonders.
I’m not even sure if anyone OTHER than Rob McKenna(Rep) is running for governor. That’s probably a classic “Local Politics” fail. Right?
:)
And, no, I don’t think exclusivity should be an option. When she’s 18, she can go all exclusive to her heart’s content. And pay full freight for her exclusive car, of course. Until then, you’re the dad and she’s the kid. Cheers!
We haven’t….yet!….been under siege in California (well, at least not since Grey Davis got garrotted.) I just don’t know why people are hurling tomatoes at the idiots. Wisconsin did its best. Ohio public employees did their best, but the monied interests are not backing down. Scary times, I think.
I would suggest you google Americans For Prosperity Ca. That’s just the start. They have all these little “civic groups” all over hell turning Little fish into Big fish, in that fish’s pond.
You Califorians are definitely infested. I did hours and hours of research. I could probably pull up my legal pad notebook with all the tracks of infestation……
But, it’s time to move into the light. It better to know and deal with the issue.
Good show, dearie — sounds like use of your car by the kids was governed by Glass Steagal — costs, benefits & risks were shared with real consequences if they broke your law.
I just have to add a thought.
Wisconsin didn’t do their best. Valiant people in Wisconsin did their best. The rest were watching Reality TeeVee and numbing down.
Ohio, same.
California,same.
Washington, probably the same. Damn, I hope Dennis Kucinich comes and stirs the pot. Not sure what would be in it for him.
g’night
I heard hummingbirds today. That’s a full three weeks early.
hey dave — wow, do ya think its gonna be a long hot summer?

hi all! long time no chat, i know. I been busy…
Suz, thanks for the music and your company. Grateful for your nightly posts, out here in the wilds of Ohio.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Mighty groggy tonite from getting no sleep today after last nite’s stargazing…!
scarlet! how ya doing dood?
hey margot — thanks :) how are the wilds of ohio tonight?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Wowsers, Suz, that additional surgery means ever more down time…! God bless, M’dear…! *g*

It was a wild day, literally, one moment it was blue skies, and ten minutes later it was pouring cats and dogs, all day long…!
((Suz))
I’m hearing Roseanne Roseannadanna in my head…
pretty good… been busy painting, signhanging, taking pix…
CT, did the moon come out when the sun went down last night? Anything special with Venus?
Theme from Under the Iron Sky
They’re full of scrap thieves. Stuff is disappearing off houses. Guttering, air conditioners, everything.
Sorry to hear this. It sucks. This is what being good gets ya. Shoulda just put some weight on that leg and made it work.
You rock!!!
it totally sux dood. i’m trying to be positive that dr t will say the amount of deformation is acceptable but….
staying active is the key dood — sounds like you are doing it right :)
hey dearie — when do ya leave to go see your newest grandson?
i wanna hear the doc say that nevermind line and i can continue with the goal of getting me on the leg in may…..
tis always good to see your fonts — you got any trips planned?
I didn’t see the Moon at all, muchless, Venus last nite…! Maybe, it happened in the higher latitudes, but, not within the Tropics…!
yikes! from empty homes or are they hitting occupied dwellings?
Great music, Suzanne! I’ll be looking into this band.

hey tuez — how’s floriday tonight?
Next week…..can hardly wait! Cute pix of the new baby and his adoring brother and sister. Love, love!
Oh, yeah, and what’s on my mind.
Peter Gabriel – Biko
hey ce — glad you liked it. they just released this song and video this month iirc. how’s cleveland tonight?
i had my left replaced in 2003 and it took me a fucking year to get back to ‘normal’ afterwards…. its a rough fucking surgery. the doc has said that its not as bad now as it was 9 years ago when i had my left one done — that techniques and technology has improved it but…. i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed
And, Suz, I remind you that my brother-in-law has had both knees replaced and my next door neighbor had both of her knees replaced…….and both are thrilled and totally mobile. Happy they did it early rather than later.
awwwwww – betcha can’t wait to see him in person and your other grandbabies! how long are you going to visit?
I bought one lottery ticket once, won $2. So I’m ahead.
Hi Suz-
I was looking for a dirty Cinquain, but couldn’t find any.
And the dirty haikus I saw suck.
So I will just leave you with this reflection of your news item: fuck!
How you, otherwise?
California for the next couple of weeks, then one last trip to Portland/Seattle. It’s kind of hard to justify driving up there to hang signs about not driving so much. I do have a sick (as in homicidally insane) friend I need to check up on in Portland though.
And way smarter than me.
Both i gather, from the news
i just had a buncha blood work done and everything was great except i was very low on vit d. doc has me on prescription vit d – 50,000 units (one pill thankfully) per week in addition to calcium supplements. every other thing tested for was totally normal — made me feel like i was doing something right (other than the vit d deficiency)
MrCE is away at a conference and I’m up way too late.
tuez — we gotta be kin somewhere along the line — i swear, that’s what happens to me when i play lotto — if i’m lucky i hit one number
Of course, you’re in Oregon. That’s why I had to move. I take 4000 IU per day, and I’m not sure it’s enough. In the depths of the winter it isn’t.
Margot, that is a funny/tragic story!
how recently did they have them done and how long was their recovery? i had no regrets once i got through the recovery and rehabilitation
hey newton — fuck is the perfect word :) how ya doing tonight?
i’m in the ‘burbs now and have had to give up the beach house due to the stairs there (and my landlord wanting to move back in). be sure to let me know when ya head up this way — we can have a latte or something
Lindsey Stirling – Break Your Heart
You need weeks at a Florida or California beach, just sucking up vitamin D from sunshine.
hehehe i’m hoping for if it was a wee bit more kinda response myself :)
when is mr ce due back?
doc said that after my levels come back up to normal range, i’m gonna have to take 2,000 units daily forever
It’s a date then – a couple of weeks I’m guessing. Here’s a quick (1 min.) poem by billy collins:

it’s called “the hangover”
*heh* Hilo certainly ain’t the locale …! ;-)

I’m good, thank you. I have another project machine in front of me: this one is a box of parts – FUN!
It made me laugh! It’s fine, i have full use and can play the piano:)
Kitaro – Matsuri
still better than the year recovery after mine in 2003. thanks dearie

do you know what the parts are supposed to be when put together or is it one of those mystery puzzles?
In two nights — he is having a blast in Baltimore. And our son is working in Delaware for a few months, and can visit my Dad. That is so wonderful for us — my Dad, newly widowed, loves, loves to see Jack.

hey nonq — how’s wisconsin tonight? (am i remembering your state correctly)
So this guy calls the maid and says, “Mia, I just found out my wife is having an affair. I want you to drown her in the pool.”
Maid, “Oh, I can’t do that, sir.”
Guy, “There’s big money in it for you, Mia. Get it done. I’ll call back in 10 minutes.”
Call back: “Mia, did you take care of it?”
Mia: “Yes, sir, I drowned the missus in the pool by the tennis court.”
Guy: “Tennis court? What tennis court? Is this 805-5555?”

best wishes, Suzzz — take care and sleep well.
Fingers crossed all over the nation on that one!!!
Time to focus on the community, whatever it’s form.
end of rant
Thanks for the ear and the supportive comments people, I’m heading to bed. Be good, be well.
Edit: I mentioned that taking over insurance and all repair costs would be minimum consideration to exclusivity. Peace and resolve.
Community! Now isn’t that a quaint concept?! Who do we have on ‘our’ side who is willing to talk about community and mutual responsibility?
Good night, nonq. Interesting times ahead!
Sweet dreams.
Good luck with “the next stage”. It’s a new deal!
I’m fading. Good night, openhope. Enjoyed your company tonight.
Sweet dreams, Dearie.
Not sure what would be in it for him.
g’night
