Hey Suzanne!
No snow, but buckets of wind! Just wild and wonderful. After work today, MrCE and I worked in the backyard for two hours. Picking leaves and stuff. Mowing.
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? sunny is a good thing :) i was spoiled by the sunshine this weekend and yesterday — but then again there were times in the late afternoon where it just got too darn hot and left the porch and came back inside.
Suzanne, are you headed closer to Portland? Are there any realtors there that specialize in rentals? They usually get paid by the owners. Worth looking into.
Plus, did you hear I had another grandchild on Sunday/Earth Day? 5th in 4+ years (twins help!) Darling little boy. I’ll be in Montana soon to do “baby holding.”
i figure i’ve got a month to 6 weeks before i can be ok to be by myself so the real hunt isn’t on yet. been looking on craigslist to get a feel for prices and areas etc.
i won’t get the ok to drive until i’m doing full weightbearing on the leg since its my driving leg. jen and mike are keeping their eyes open when they are out and about — they would like me as close as possible at first so they could help out when needed. tomorrow when jen takes me to the ortho for my re-check, i’ll also be keeping my eyes peeled for areas i like and what i don’t.
7#15 ounces. Born at home with midwife….dad and midwife-asst assisting. Middle of the night. Other two kids slept through….met their new little brother in the morning when he squawked real loud. He’s adorable! All are doing just great.
Sun popped out today for a bit, rained from Friday to Monday, even had sleet/hail yesterday – in April! We need the rain, no real snow this past winter.
It’s just a busy month. Here in Florida, one “plans” for summer, the way you guys up north winterize. Basically, I plan for 6 months of hibernation, which is followed by the holidays, which means I only have about 3 months in any given year to get anything done.
Girl, then the twin boys, then another Montana boy and now the new Montana boy. Girl is still queen of the tribe! The twins are now bigger than their girl cousin…..we’ll get them all together this summer. Should be a hoot!
what fun! i think your newest is right close my jujube’s size – she was 7 something (i know i’m flunking grandmahood for not know it precisely). it could have been 7 15… her mom was 5 15 and her auntie was 9 10
We will discuss innovative tactics to get people involved. How to target different areas to do outreach and the most effective ways to appeal to the people in the targeted areas. How to start conversations and canvas at rallies, events and door to door or on the streets. What to do with that information to build your base and activate people to participate. We are going to talk to Occupiers, community organizers and online organizers about their outreach tactics and best practices. Also to have a discussion about the issues Occupations and Occupiers themselves have had doing outreach.
mine were all 8 pounders. The Montana kids were all 7+. The twins were preemies … and now they are bigger than their year older girl cousin. It all works out.
That’s my problem, I don’t know. One thing that keeps brewing to the top, and it has for decades now, is to get a law degree. Now, I’d like to do it to get involved with the ACLU; however, I doubt I could pass the entrance exams. I didn’t do all that well on the GMATs, although I console myself with the fact that the same week I took them I put down an old friend (dog) and retired and gave away another (my Tuezday pony). And should have run away to Europe but chickened out.
As someone who went to law school at 50, I can say that I really enjoyed studying the law. California has night law schools so I could work full time and go to school at night for four straight years. But I gotta say, the idea of running away to Europe…or Belize….or Argentina sounds awfully enticing!
Not to be a buzz kill, but….the law is also highly political. Many of my classmates who did well in school and passed the CA bar exam the first time out were unable to find jobs. My twin brother had his own law firm and needed help…I’m sure I’d never have landed a job otherwise. And it’s tougher now than it was back then.
I don’t think everyone there (ACLU) has a law degree. Give them a call or stop by.
I worked as an EEO Counselor for 13 yrs, no law degree, counseled, investigated, wrote incident reports, and taught about EEO Issues (no pay either).

Where can I find out about jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities at the ACLU?
You can find descriptions of our available positions at affiliate offices and national headquarters on the Career Opportunities page. To learn more about volunteering for the ACLU or if you are an attorney interested in offering your services pro bono, please contact your local ACLU affiliate.
I don’t know why, exactly, but I’ve wanted to leave this country for as long as I can remember. Once I found out I was eligible for Irish citizenship…
But now, yup, South America sounds like the better option.
My dad used to get some political newspapers. They were way outside of the mainstream. I don’t recall what they were but I’m assuming they were way left, as I remember reading them as a kid. And my philosophies were embedded way early.
And if you like helping people, social work is wonderful. Best job I ever had was counseling kids and families. I’ve often wondered if the VA is looking for counselors yet. I lost my license when I crossed state lines and moved home to California. But I’m glad I had some wonderful years in social work.
Did you get your Irish citizenship? If not, consider putting some effort into that! And then see if you can work travel into some kind of paying job (if you need the pay) … or some kind of avocation.
someone i know online just got his italian (or has almost completed the process). it took him a while — but it sure is nice having a fall back… just in case…
I’ve been working on my son-in-law to get his. All four of his grandparents were straight off the boat from Sicily. If the world is going global… I’d like to go global myself. My best friend is from Mexico, and she promises that I can come be her house maid if times get tough up here!
On edit: my dad looked into getting Irish citizenship, but the county parish records in Listowel were burned up. Dead end.
I was surprised to see that statistic, too. I love Mexico….have been all over much of MX over many years. Some lovely places…..many expats. Wonderful food. Our creepy drug laws have really made things rough in MX.
I’m not sure how to get my Irish citizenship. My grandparents were from rural northern Ireland and don’t seem to have birth certificates. They have documentation from Ellis Island though and I can find that online. But they died in the 60s.
Bev the webinar sounds interesting. I watched the last one and asked a question.
I wrote a follow up letter to Jane on a day I was especially depressed about being an unpaid activist. I probably wouldn’t have sent it today, but I had just been told that we are going to have to move out of our place (or try and buy it) and it’s too big of a deal if we don’t have a partner. Suzanne knows the neighborhood and knows how much a two flat building might go for.
It makes me sad. But Maybe this is our chance to move to somewhere warmer.
This is not an ad, but some people actually are finding ancestry.com quite useful. Also get records from whoever in the family got the family bible, family records, etc. Names were often spelled differently. Also….call the Irish Consulate wherever you can find on….or the Irish embassy….or, here’s some magic: try google! I found one of my great-grandfather’s place of naturalization by googling him. Found all kinds of lore…..like where my great-grandmother grew up in an orphanage in San Francisco….and how my grandfather/father/brother ended up with a certain name. (The mayor of SF was a supporter of the orphanage and his wife was president of the board…. so my great-grandmother named her son after him.) I love the google~!
So my latest project is attempting to find out what the laws are that give a county fair in Az the right to ban weapons. A fair that Ted Nugent is performing at Sat.
I’m talking to the legal community against violence. The deal is that AZ law is broad, but a Fair management company has the ability to say no guns. If people violate the rules and don’t put their gun in the car or in storage by the Fair, they can be told to leave. Now this isn’t a big deal to some people, but Nugent-because of his ego might defy the fair people.
He wants to break the rules and please his NRA buddies more than he cares about the fair rules.

Hey, Suzanne. I hope you had a restful weekend. How are things? Do you have a looker looking for a new place for you?
tuez! how’s floriday tonight?
hey dearie — how was your day? i enjoyed the weekend and have been checking craigslist.
Floriday is spectacular. 70s, sunny, clean, crisp air and tonight, again, in the 50s.
Friday back to the 90s…
Hey! I want to be with you.
we were in the low 80′s sun and mon but today was cloudy. we are forecast for an inch or so of rain tomorrow
Hey Suzanne,
Windy and near 45 temps today.
hey ce — you get more snow? how was your day?
yikes! windy always makes it worse
Hey Suzanne!
No snow, but buckets of wind! Just wild and wonderful. After work today, MrCE and I worked in the backyard for two hours. Picking leaves and stuff. Mowing.
According to the weather dudes, you’ve got until late tomorrow afternoon to get here. Then we start the climb back to the 90s.
It’s not usually this dry here and the crisp sky makes me think it’s fall, further north.
Hi Suz, it sounds like my area is having the same weather as CE’s. But it was sunny. Hope all is well!
we were only 64 today — 16 degrees cooler than yesterday. i don’t like it when the weather yo-yo’s
Good Evening Suz!
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? sunny is a good thing :) i was spoiled by the sunshine this weekend and yesterday — but then again there were times in the late afternoon where it just got too darn hot and left the porch and came back inside.
Love you all! I have to sleep. Kisses Suzanne.

Suzanne, are you headed closer to Portland? Are there any realtors there that specialize in rentals? They usually get paid by the owners. Worth looking into.
hey bev — how’s it going?
Hey, we had record lows last night but this time of the year, I’ll take it and like it.
g’nite ce

i figure i’ve got a month to 6 weeks before i can be ok to be by myself so the real hunt isn’t on yet. been looking on craigslist to get a feel for prices and areas etc.
Also find a neighborhood you like and drive around looking for rental signs. As it’s nearing the end of the month…
I’ve had mixed results with Craigslist, although one quickly learns to flag the scams. It can still be difficult to figure out what is legit.
woohoo!!! congrats grandma!!! what are his stats?
Congrats Dearie and to the new mom.
Hi, sitting here crunching data, thought I’d say hello.
Congratulations!
Hello back to ya.
i won’t get the ok to drive until i’m doing full weightbearing on the leg since its my driving leg. jen and mike are keeping their eyes open when they are out and about — they would like me as close as possible at first so they could help out when needed. tomorrow when jen takes me to the ortho for my re-check, i’ll also be keeping my eyes peeled for areas i like and what i don’t.
And make sure they take pets.
how’s the dc area? you guys get any rain?
Good evening, hope you are having a good week.
tis the plan…

Aloha, Suz and lln pups, from the Subaru telescope again…! ;-)
Can I ask a really stupid question. What is it with baby stats? In my mind, as long as they are healthy, life is good.
No, I never had kids and it wasn’t a priority.
awwww i had midwives when i had jen — but it was in a hospital setting. are all of your grandbabies boys?
aloha tut — how’s the top of the mt tonight?
Hi, CT….. enjoy paradise on the mountain in paradise!
Sun popped out today for a bit, rained from Friday to Monday, even had sleet/hail yesterday – in April! We need the rain, no real snow this past winter.
Good Evening!
What is it with baby stats?
So we can visualize the size of ‘em from our own experiences, tuez…! ;-)
It’s just a busy month. Here in Florida, one “plans” for summer, the way you guys up north winterize. Basically, I plan for 6 months of hibernation, which is followed by the holidays, which means I only have about 3 months in any given year to get anything done.
That and I’m lazy.
Girl, then the twin boys, then another Montana boy and now the new Montana boy. Girl is still queen of the tribe! The twins are now bigger than their girl cousin…..we’ll get them all together this summer. Should be a hoot!
Well then, I’m just shit out of luck ;)
Windier than I’d like it, but, it’s another clear nite for stargazing…!
i thought i remembered you guys had a fairly dry winter….
Were you on the mountain for the meteor shower the other night?
Aloha, Bev…! I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s Webinar, what’s the topic this week…?
what fun! i think your newest is right close my jujube’s size – she was 7 something (i know i’m flunking grandmahood for not know it precisely). it could have been 7 15… her mom was 5 15 and her auntie was 9 10
I was at sea level with big rain clouds preventing me from seeing ‘em…! 8-(
Is this the night that the Moon and Venus were supposed to be doing some kind of dance? Is the Moon visible to you?

I envy you, having time to do what you want, rest, relax. I retired in 2005, working harder now than when I retired.
Hmmm, I wasn’t aware of it, Dearie, the Sun hasn’t fully set yet here…!
sounds like another good one bev!
mine were all 8 pounders. The Montana kids were all 7+. The twins were preemies … and now they are bigger than their year older girl cousin. It all works out.
Mahalo, Bev…! For the info and linky…! *g*
Funny I had the same problem.
Saw it in the paper, I think. I just loved the idea “the Moon dancing with Venus”………… well, see what you see when the Moon comes up.
both of mine were 6 days early — and my mom was a week late with all 3 of us.

hey that guy — how ya doing tonight?
No, I envy you. I’m looking for my newest passion and can’t find it. It’s an ADD thing.
Venus and the moon were kissin’ cousins tonight and Venus was really, really bright. You’ve got something to look forward to.

i found that latest statistic re mexican immigration to be startling — as many left as arrived — if only it wasnt so hot down there
Congrats!

Happy dreams, Suzanne.
Good Night Suz
Hi Spocko!
Well, it looks like everyone bailed, Bev. Good night…..happy dreams!
Thank you for letting me stop by for a bit.
Good Night all.
