Men at Work – Who can it be now?
RIP Greg Ham…!
What’s on your mind tonite…?
It may snow here tonight. Hey CT, how are you, dude?
Aloha, Christine…! Are you serious…? That’s totally f*cked up…!
Hiya Pups! I had a very sleepy weekend, where winter and spring wrestled here in Cleveland. I roasted a chicken and made a major veg dish with spinach, mushrooms and potatoes. A toasty fire right now. Hello?
Indeed! And MsCE friends in western PA are alerted to up to 18 inches of snow. Can you believe this!!!
Sorry, I was saying mahalo to Hag…! ;-)
Hey CT and CE……. and any other Pups still up at this late hour. No mountain time tonight, CT? And snow, CE……that’s just wrong!
And the central heater is running and running. Fire, do your job.
SNOW? Our low lying hills are still getting snow.
It’ been so perfect for the last few days that I know I’m jumping the gun planning too much for the gardens.
So want to jump gun!!! It was 70 today and I got to hang out with both my children, in the sun for hours with no agenda and no significant others. Including my own, their father. It was wonderful.
It was ‘chilly’ on the south central left coast…..like 65 or so….but it was 90 in Ojai yesterday. Talk about crazy. I lived in Chicago for 10 years, and I don’t remember ever getting snow in late April. Of course cabin fever was so fierce by then that most of us couldn’t remember anything!
Aloha, Dearie…! I’ll be back up there tuesday nite…! ;-)
You’re in Cleveland,. ..what do you think of Dennis Kucinich coming over to my state where we can love and adore him? The idea is starting to freak out the Wa Dem party.
Aloha, open…! Sounds like ya had some great down time…! Today was a gorgeous day here in Hilo town…!
The Hag seemed a little ‘down’ tonight; glad we could life spirits with all the baby news. And how’s your munchkin doing?
RIP Levon too…! Don’t Do It…
We had a huge April snowfall here a few years ago (maybe 4) where I slogged home with cat food cans and many tears — me the big baby crying about snow over my boots.) Anyway , weather happens1
He’s growing everyday and still giving me the biggest grins ever…! ;-)
Is DennisK serious about heading west, do you think? I think Obama neutered him regarding the health insurance giveaway. Can’t imagine that he’d have any power back in Congress. He needs to go to a think tank or something….. or go be a college professor. Somewhere where he can speak his mind without being taken on any more plane rides.
I forget how wonderful it is to do nothing with people you find interesting. Must start doing that more often.
evening, CT — did you have clear skies for the shower last night?
Kasich targeted him, and did him in. There were HUGE highway billboards with ” Kuncinch loves abortion” all over the highways here in Cleveland. It was so horrible.
I have serious issues with the Healthcare plane ride. Personally, I don’t think Obama can neuter Dennis. Obama can threaten severe violence to the Kucinich’s lives. Obama likes severe violence on civilian lives and we should adjust to that reality.
If Dennis and his coalition decide to come to Wa….I’ll be there to meet their plane.
I think the Dems targeted him, too; but, hey, that’s just me.
I think that you need to meet him.
If Dennis Kucinich came to Wa I’d throw him a fundraiser!
Well, I certainly wouldn’t hate hearing his voice again….. and maybe your area would be more accepting and encouraging. We NEED someone on the left to keep speaking out.
Aloha, PPD…! I was busy last nite at an anti-Geothermal meeting in Pahoa town, we had about 150 people show up and prepared for the first-ever full County Council session to be held in Pahoa, this coming tuesday, when I have to work…! But, we had a former Mayor and the probable future Mayor, and current Co.Council Chair giving speeches, too…! I’ll be posting an Occupy Hilo myFDL post in the near future all about it…! ;-)
Here’s a pic of me at the local MoveOn.Org ‘Spring Training’ held recently here…!
I had heard he was going to do that; didn’t realize that he had. What district will he run in? Against whom? What are his odds?
My Poli Sci club hosted His Shortness in ’94…! ;-)
Speaking of Fundraisers; I’ve go one on the books for June 23rd. An event celebrating our community, our Constitution and our Hall. (Hall is our community hall, 94 yrs.old)
Silent Auction: 60-40 cash split. Participants in the Silent Auction will receive 60% of the sale, the ACLU gets 30% of the sale and our Hall maintenance fund gets 10% of the sale. Items given freely will be a 50-50 cash split ACLU/Hall.
Cash raffle: 60-30-10 split on the raffle. Winning ticket 60,ACLU 30, Hall 10. I was going to go low key on the raffle but the Gambling Commission man said,”The raffle’s where your money is. Work it and work the ticket sales”. My kind of fundraiser mentality man!
Presentation by the Wa ACLU on the challenges facing our state.
I can’t believe they’re letting me do this! It’s going to be so much fun. And we’re serving wine and beer.
What do you mean “wouldn’t hate hearing his voice”…..is there something I don’t know that I should?
Despite Grayson’s pitfalls, I’d like to hear his voice again in Congress…!
No….sorry….what I mean is that I’m not sure that DK will find a strong platform …. and I liked hearing him speak truth to power. Just that I don’t know that he will find a place to do that again.
I live more Down Under, than ya’ll…! ;-)
Still love his Peace Department…! ;-)
Me, too! I treasure his ‘what the Republicans want you to do about healthcare’……. we get so little of that from the CongressCritters. Jackie Speier is one who will speak out. But it seems that the crazies get much more press than those who actually speak the truth. (Bachmann, Foxx, e.g….. those crazy broads get coverage while the rational women often do not.) I finally sent my own congresswoman a “You’re Dead to Me” letter because she caved on health care and rarely spoke out on anything. I think she’s even older than I am………I kept wanting to ask her, “When do you think you might take a chance and speak truth to power?”
It’s a Mistake…
With all due respect, I abhor Short Shit. I’m prickly on prejudice. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s a stain of Colonialism, that particular bully humor. And the Blue Dog dems are playing it.
Open slot for apology accepted———-because I think you’re awesome…
Evening CT and all. Just saying hi.
I kept wanting to ask her, “When do you think you might take a chance and speak truth to power?”
*heh* I’ve asked that very same question of every little political Critter, I’ve encountered, all my local and state reps know my name…! ;-)
Aloha, Bev…! Mahalo again for all your efforts, M’dear…! *g*
Thanks, but everyone here has done so much more!
I was mighty pissed with DK’s subesequent cave-ins on key votes, but, I don’t abhor him…! ;-)
But then when you see the R’s go after Kucinich, Grayson, and others….with no backing from their own party….you have to wonder why anyone would want to attempt to “serve” the citizens … except to get rich. I guess I’ve become sickly cynical.
But, you’re the glue that binds it all together, Bev…! *g*
I like Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and if I were still living in Ohio I’d be out stumping for him. I’m also particularly fond of his wife! And I don’t see the Ds stepping up to protect him from Kasich and the Tea-pokes. I kind of think that Obama has been just dismal for the Democrats. I don’t even think he is a Democrat. But, hey, that’s just me.
Despite being the eternal, nay, infernal Optimist, I’m mighty cynical these daze…! ;-)
Yeah, me,too. But, we have all hell breaking loose here in Wa and could use a few rational voices when Rob McKenna and the Americans For Prosperity shit parade hits the big time PR. This year. Halloween, only different.
Bye-bye Washington State, pillar of progressive politics keeping red-necks at bay.
Good evening, BevW.
Good evening! I hope you are doing well. We had a rainy and cool weekend here in DC, but need the rain desperately.
*heh* Dr. Heckyll & Mr Jive…
You are right about how far the parties have drifted. Hatch was a surprise this weekend too.
We’re nothing but Helpless Automatons…
I know! The Republicans let the crazies out of the basement and now they are all shaking in their boots. Boehner is next…..Cantor is sharpening his shiv. Of course the Dems are equally crazed. Obama appears to be going after Reid. Implosion Alert!
I share the thought/emotion. I’m thinking the next phase requirement is to move beyond cynicism/despair into the next stage of being.
Sounds good on paper.
Serious F*ckery is afoot all over the globe…! 8-(
Will our Hillary rise above the ashes like a vision of humanity?
Are these the events that will drive the GOP into the dark for 40 years, like after McCarthyism? Where is “too far”?
What’s the next stage??? We all repair, as it were, to some other locale? Or we do what the NRA has been pushing and arm ourselves to the teeth?
BevW I keep sending you via FDL Book Salon urgent requests to get Mr. Black in the loop. [email protected] please check out my emails or send me direct i will forward them to you. Much obliged.
Will the Earth survive intact until the next Earth Day anniversary…?
Albert Einstein did state that WW IV would be fought with ‘sticks and stones’…! 8-(
I did get your email, and will send Bill a note along with the email tomorrow.
The Republicans already went too far………and Obama hoisted them back up over the edge. In my jaded opinion. I suspect it will be the Dems who get thwarted for years and years. If I didn’t have kids and grandkids and other family, I’d probably be headed out for Costa Rica or maybe Brazil or Argentina or Colombia. I’d rather be headed to Italy, but right now Italy is up for grabs, too.
The next stage for me,personally, is watching what the young people want. And supporting them because after 40 years of activism, I know it’s their time now. And I’ll support them to the best of my abilities.
What happened to all those 40 year prognostications for the GOP’s demise in ’08…? C’est La Vie…? 8-(
Thank you on behalf of all us warriors.
I believe you are right, O kept them in the fight. Don’t have kids to worry about, but I’ll stay and give them hell.
I’ve spoken with my girls about how sad I am that they are going to have to re-fight the stuff that my group fought in the 60s & 70s. At least they will have a few more men in their generation who will fight along with them. I’m of a mind that once the privileged white males of my age finally begin to die out that things will get better. That may sound unpleasant, but I’m afraid it is true.
We were fooled by the smoke and mirrors, shiny objects.
O excused all their law breaking, cheating, fraudulent behavior….and gave them places at his table and crapped on the rest of us. He didn’t just keep them in the fight, he gave them the opportunity to continue with impunity… and then he joined their mission.
*heh* And you’re in the ‘Belly of the Beast’, in the DC Beltway, eh Bev…? ;-)
It is every generation, I waited for the Strom Thurmond and Jessie Helms of my generation to pass and let new blood come in.
I have those fears.
When we moved into a beach cabin on the tideflats 20 years ago I started having vivid dreams about Them coming. Them being an aggressive power. Soldiers. I would try to run with my children but they were too heavy, we would hide together but they were small and frightened. Very traumatic dreams. We were living on a traditional summer camp for the Sammish indians.
When we moved 13 years later the dreams stopped.
I think history repeats itself.
I have bad days when I think those weren’t dreams, they were warnings from another time.
Amen, and you have to wonder why – on the same team?
Oh yes, retired here in DC with 32 yrs of gov experience. It is ugly, most Americans do not want to see the gov “in action”.
I always thought I’d head for New Zealand.
I have to laugh! How did that work out for you?
It sounds true. But, those privileged white men breed nasty little shit sons with the world as their oyster.
They are gone, but now we have to deal with Rep. Allan West and the Tea Party types. Can’t win. I’m hoping Norman Solomon is going to win in CA – Woolsey’s seat.
I know, I know! Whenever I think it might change, I realize that we’ve got Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor and their like to contend with. Did those guys grow up without mothers?????
Jeez, we’ve had that as a reason to keep active in our community politics regardless of the rage it creates inside you. Our mantra, These Old Fucks Are Going To Die, hang strong!
Actually, it’s working! They’re dropping like flies and we now have a predominantly female council. And we can talk like grown adults. and it’s amazing how short the meetings are now, with so much accomplished.
I blame the constant Lame Stream Media barrage, since Ray-Gun daze at least, that Govt. is the Problem, not the Solution, for that woeful state of mind…! 8-(
I would love to talk with 100 people who actually voted for Alan West. What in the hell were they thinking??? I hate when people say American voters are just stupid. But then, well, you know?!
Fantastic!! Power to you! Love it.
Ya know, I really wouldn’t mind being ‘privileged’ myself, at all…! ;-)
And yet the alleged Left cannot seem to produce effective news organizations….and when they do (I like Rachel Maddow, for example), the left-ish reporters get castigated…..even here on FDL. Amazing and saddening.
True, I hated him as a Gov of CA. “Seen one redwood tree, you’ve seen them all” cut them down – and he closed down most of the state mental health facilities also. So many homeless after than.
In Florida, was it the voters or the DiBold machines?
Dang, I can totally relate with ya…! I’m usually way out-gunned, as a white male, at all our Occupy actions…! ;-)
I was a young school teacher during the Reagan years out here in California. Dismal time. And he just kept on smiling. Smiling all the way into being the first dementia president. What we will learn someday may scare the hell out of the populace.
Ohio ’04 was all about Diebold and some Gooper servers in Chattanooga, Tenn…! 8-(
Edit: Even slicker than that ‘Brooks Bros’ Revolt…!
“Be careful what you wish for”. You would not be CTuttle of FDL were you born privileged.
You might have more bling. You wouldn’t be the real thing.
Can you tell my Public Relations brain is kicking in cuz of this fundraiser?
A very distinct possibility, M’dear…! But, will we still be alive, or even remember, when the ‘papers’ are finally released…? ;-)
??? Oh wait, you live where there’s brown people, right?
Tiny community, Puget Sound isn’t exactly a hotbed of diversity. Unless you factor in the Creeps.
Probably not…..but as Bush the Lesser said, who cares about history — we’ll all be dead. :)~
Yes, like about 10 yrs ago(in a book), Richard Nixon, on pills and whiskey, calling DOD to nuke countries in the middle of the night, and the Sec of State and Joint Chief – refusing. Nixon forgot in the morning.
We live in an ‘interesting’ country…..not at all what I thought it was!
??? Oh wait, you live where there’s brown people, right?
There’s a few running around…! ;-)
I have really enjoyed the company this evening. Going to take my happy lucky 99 and turn it into some wonderful, colorful and interesting dreams. Good night, All.
Did you see that strange story of Reagan and his double? The conspiracy theory being that the original Ronnie was a drunken handful spinning out of control and they replaced him with his intelligent double before entering him into politics. It was in the Hollywood hayday and many stars had doubles.
If nothing else, it explained how a Union organizer could evolve into a Union buster.
Ooh, Congrats, Dearie, and Mahalo, Ya’ll…! *g*
Sweet dreams, Dearie…!
Thank you all. Good night, have a great week.
Good night,Dearie. I always like when the 99 comment is apropos. Double points!
Sweet dreams, BevW
Sweet dreams, Bev…!
I shall bid ya’ll another fond adieu with some Levon… The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down…
Mahalo for the great conversations tonite…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
