About Firedoglake
Hi, Suzanne, I hope you had a wonderful night’s sleep and felt frisky today.
Nice day on the south central coast…..despite enormous winds and actual thunder and lightening late yesterday. My neighbor’s palm tree kept ‘exciting’ his security lights most of the night, so I had a crappy night’s sleep. “:_)
Hi Suz!
Gawd, this is an oldie…
evening, Suzzz …. hiya Dearie — what part of the central coast?
hey dearie — what did ya do today? nap?
Hey newt
hey newton — yup — wasn’t able to find a better quality one. i think it is the only version on utube
how was your day?
hey ppd — how’s the monterey bay region tonight?
south central…..though we have recently been redistricted…I’m in Oxnard. Our beaches have, to our amusement, been called “The Next Malibu” by none other than the New York Times. I don’t know if that means we may soon be invaded.
Hi PPD
Nap would have been nice! I went up to Santa Barbara and my daughter and I went to the Farmers Market with her boys…..giving her husband a chance to rest a bit. Then to see my dad, the boys’ greatgranddad, for a visit. So cute. All children charm me, but identical little boys are a hoot and a half. The boys give their greatgranddad hugs and then high fives. My dad just laughs with pleasure. Such a joy.
I like the re-colored and restored ‘toons as much as the next guy, but there’s something to be said for seeing them the way we did when they were ‘new’.
Day was good. I am now caught up on paperwork.
I would like to thank the academy…
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I just got back from MoveOn.Org’s ‘Spring Training’…! Dang it was looong…! Great job, but, still too long for one session, they should split it up into two days…!
did the boys get to visit their tomato plants?
Was the MoveOn training ‘open’…or were they wanting email addresses and contributions? And what was the core message?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
They did! And the plants are coming along well. The boys also planted a tomato at their own house that they named “GrandDad” (they call their actual grandfather “Grandpa” and their greatgrandfather “GrandDad.” It all works out. They aren’t even 4 years old yet, and they are still figuring it out.
I am in awe of the Santa Barbara Mens Garden Club. It was someone from the club that showed the boys how to plant a bean. And from there….well, wow, we’re all farmers again! My daughter’s front steps are amazing….pots of green beans, tomatoes, basil, peppers, and lots of pots of flowers. Gorgeous. And such fun.
how wonderful dearie! you are going to have to take pictures so we can see those first tomatoes ripening on the vines…
It was very ‘open’, I was hard pressed to find MoveOn’s imprimatur anywhere…! ;-)
We had twenty people in attendance, and half were part of Occupy, we did sign an email list, but, they’re for our Occupy use, and no fund raising for MoveOn either…!
Naturally it rained on our Merrie Monarch parade this morn, but, cleared up this afternoon…! ;-)
I am so glad you are having this amazing Occupy experience….and I thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of us. If we can’t figure out how to have it work in our own areas, we know it can work. Thank you, CT. Keep it up knowing that we have your back all the way!
MoveOn..are you sure it’s time well spent? just saying
Hi Tut
I remember when that was a bad thing.
Very nice area, a bit warmer than our coast further north.
you get rain in the mornings and we get rain in the late afternoons…
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
Oh, I didn’t quite understand what you were saying about MoveOn.org.
Actually, I still don’t. Sorry.
hiya CT – how’s everything in paradise tonight?
Freaking hopping!
Hope all is well with you and yours.
I haven’t figured out my new district yet…..Gallegly got screwed and we no longer are in Lois Capps’ district. I don’t know who will be our new ‘overlord.’ But I’ll be watching. “:)
Evening Suz and denizens of lln!
It was very productive, open…! The whole point was how to plan and implement any number of nonviolent Direct Actions in our own communities, targeting whatever we deem is necessary…! I was surprised that their video presentations had targeted Clinton and other Dems along with Reagan, the Bushes, etc…! ;-)
the girls and mike went out to the house today and packed up most of my stuff and put them in storage. they left at 10 and didn’t get home until 7ish tonight. its an hour and a half to two hour drive each way from their place in the ‘burbs to the house on the bay.
they didn’t get everything. jen and i are going back next sat. i’m going to have to scoot up the wooden stairs on my butt (and back down them) and then use the walker to go from room to room checking everything. jen’s gonna vacuum etc and the hired girl is checking her work schedule to see if she can be there when we are. still trying to figure out what to do with my potted plants. found out tonight all the inside ones are dead — hope the ones on the deck survived
hey sunny! how ya doing?
Hi folks. One of the lessons for activist CT is how to get your message across. So this weekend I am making puppets after Pinochio, Truth telling fables. The puppets will look like some of our pols and the setting will be a depositions where the hard questions are asked and the nose gets longer when the answers stray from the truth. So it is a paper mache project for the heads and some old clothes with maybe a carrot for the nose that goes through a hole where the nose is supposed to be.
Suzanne, I’m so sorry that this medical situation has also become a homing situation. Glad you have the girls and Mike to help you out. I’m hopeful that you will find a wonderful new home on the first floor!
me too dearie… me too
That is so cool, bb…! ;-)
anyone got any jokes? i could use some laughter….
I have a couple really sick ones but you probably don’t want to read them here. =:-O
Oh man, thinking of you Suzanne. Glad you have family to do such heavy work.
A guy walks into a bar with a duck on his…
No.
A duck walks into a bar with a guy..
Ok, wait…
A dog, a cat, and a penis are sitting around a camp fire one night. The dog says, “My life sucks, my master makes me do my business on a fire hydrent!”. The cat says, “I don’t think so, my master makes me do my business in a box of cat litter.” The penis outraged, says “At least your master doesn’t put a bag over your head and make you do push ups until you throw up!”
Oh newt!
You dirty dog!
Hey CT!
Good on you for today.
hey that guy — how ya doing tonight? you are probably right…
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight?
Been under the weather for a few months but am doing much better.
I have been poking my head in a bit. Really sad to learn navigation of your fabulous place on the bay is now out. Seems like just yesterday……..
Hi Chris!
ha! got me chucklin…..
fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck.
I hate this
I know that life is what we take with us, I’m a gypsy. But, I hate when it’s actually happening.
On the good side, you get Token and the cat back.?
(suz note: i broke the fucks so they didn’t break the margins)
newton wins the late evening intertoobz ……………. boogie, buddy.
am glad to hear you are better. so good to see your fonts again sunny. hard to believe i was there for almost 4 years…
you ever figure out that cake recipe?
You have public access TV where you can speak on camera for three minutes so maybe your aqctivists can speak to a lot of people at one time! Have you tried that out. We have an audience of 60,000 viewrs/listeners as it goes out on radio and TV at the Board of Stupervisors.
Rainy but lovely. The redbud trees are pinked at peak. Most flowers are done. I had a lovely visit from a friend not seen in many years, and we shared lots of memories. Dinner with friends. Life is good.
Hey dude!
bailey cat has been adopted by the person taking care of her since my fall.
token is still iffy — gonna depend on what i can find in my price range that is ground floor and allows for a small dog and a smoker. gotta have zero stairs so there are a lotta ifs. he may have to be adopted by his caretakers — they have said that they love him and i know he loves them — still too soon to tell.
bailey cat had to be placed before the end of the month. token has a little more time before a decision has to be made
Aloha, Christine…! It was a great opportunity to network and promote Occupy(and even FDL)…! ;-)
Hey Sunny, glad you’re better.
Suz, I’m trying to think of jokes, but I’m a terrible joke rememberer. I can either remember the set-up or the punchline. Almost never both.
Howdy, ma’am.
Somebody had to break the ice…
There should be a post once in a while that’s nothing but dirty limericks and ‘a guy walks into a bar’ jokes.
dinner with friends is always a good thing.
everything in the portland burbs seems to be all blooming at once.
LOL, okay I’m going to have to think of some good jokes. We need a shit load of laughter to recover our spirits.!
Our local Public access channel, Olelo is covering some of our events, but, they have a 2 week lag between the event, and when it gets aired…!
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? i’m terrible at jokes too – for the same reasons. come sit by me
‘evenin’, all-
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend-
dood — that’s a great idea…
hey rond – how ya doing tonight?
That is pretty funny for an instant request!
Wow! Super!
Now every time you give us a report, I can visualize for real.
I absolutely loved that they broke the margins.
Poetry, only different.
i did too but… old habits die hard and fixing broken margins was one of the first fixes i learned back when i was a rookie mod
Very fine, thanks. The semester almost over; I just finished two thousand words on terrorism in Bosnia, so nice to be able to hang. It’s been awhile.
Please do!!! I can’t think of any jokes, I’m pathetic in that department, and I’m Irish!
Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?
:))
Not mine, actually.
A couple of years ago, when this egregious troll was haunting the diaries with incest posts, myself and a primate-commenter decided that we would riddle his threads with on-the-spot limerick creation comments.
It was taxing as hell (as my creativity is in other places), but it sure chased that weasel off.
i just finished enemies — the book featured in book salon last week about the history of the fbi
jeebus it gave me the heebie jeebies… was your bosnian terrorism recent or historical?
*heh* Ya stole her thunder, Suz…! ;-)
still a good idea
*snort*
This is heartbreaking. I am sorry Suzanne.
i let it stand as is for a while and then went back in to unbreak the margins so the poetry could be seen by everyone for a bit
Brownies, that’s how I am. Stressing about being a bum again.
Aloha, Ron…! How much of that ‘terrorism’ was home-grown, versus being imported/encouraged by other nations…?
it is ce – it really is. tis like i’m losing everything i value — the place, my critters, my plants are dead… some of those plants were over 10 years old and i considered them old friends
Yeah, also, there’s no need to start a trend………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Words fail me.
Suz –
Been away a couple of weeks and missed the news. What’s up with the leg, the house? You gotta move? Permanently?
i’m in serious need of some brownies lately myself dood…. i’m still sending ya ‘hire this guy’ thoughts
I applaud your learning. We need to hear the voices of our recent history. Hope your education is 360% on the situation.
It’s so hard to learn the truth.
evening, CE – how’s everything out east?
Recent. Nineties. Kind of an “everything you know about the Bosnian civil war is wrong” by an author that should know what he’s talking about, but wrote a history as a partisan of American politics. I am rather harsh in my analysis…the issue deserved better.
at least that one only sorta broke the margin and didn’t run completely off the page :)
me too
hey bp — how ya been?
leg’s still broken. a minimum of 4 more weeks to go before the doc will even start to talk about limited weight bearing. have to be outta my house by the end of the month. landlord wants to move back in and doc said i can’t live where there are stairs.
I’m so glad to see you here (at work!) but this news is very, very tough. It must be hard to explain over and over, and we all want to cheer you up. I can only say that we all wish the best for your recovery, of not just your health, but for your independence and loved ones. Kisses on your family. Token — we WILL see you again.
We’re into the 90s, Suzanne……….listen up, as we used to say in south Ohio.
I am starting an indoor nursery for corn germination and herbs; cilantro, basil, parsely some spinach to keep the snails away for starters. They make these small boxes that disintegrate when put in the soil. You fill them with starting mix at get them completely wet. Then put several seeds in each and wait for them to germinate. Later some will go into containers and others in with the tomatoes. It is cheap and fun. Later you get the nutrients. Takes patients but it is nice to be surrounded by plant friends that keep you well nourished. Openhope probably has some great thought on herbs and companion planting.
I’m sending you info on getting Rx from doc for Token. Neighbor has one and it swung the balance with her landlord, allowing her to keep her small dog.
thanks ce — tis a bitch for sure… not sure what i did to have this much bad karma this year…
I’m planning on seeing my Dad, 89, soon. He is still playing in a band! My brother, goddess bless him for all his help after my mother’s death in Feb., is in Maine and looking to buy a property. He told me last night that nothing is for sale in Lubeck, Maine.
Well, Bosnia in the 90s seems to have served the same role as Afghanistan in the evolution of the international jihad. It was a stew of covert operators, especially Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the USA, as well as arms traffickers, financiers, mobsters, smugglers and jihadis from all over. It kind of exists in the larger context of the secret war that is ongoing.
thanks margot
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 rond!!!
(and thanks to dearie for the heads up)
My dad is 94 and enjoying his retirement community… still playing bridge and meeting for current events every morning. He and I still ‘discuss’ politics …. he’s a lifelong Republican who thinks that a flat tax would be a fine idea. I am not. My twin brother, another Republican-to-the-max,is really enjoying spending time with our father….. we didn’t have these moments of access as kids……it’s wonderful to have them as adults.
nothing in his price range or nothing at all? why that particular town in maine?
I’d like to appropriate these words as my own, Christine. Suzanne, my hope is that maybe, just maybe, it’s not bad karma, but paying in advance for something really wonderful that is upcoming. :)
i hope you are right rond – but gotta say, it is gonna have to be fucking wonderfully spectacularly good considering how bad its been *laughing*
Wow! Good for you for being such a great daughter and sister. My Dad is a Dem, thank goodness, and we can agree on everything. Easy for me!
Congrats on the 99, Ron…! So very little of it was home-grown, everybody just played ‘the game’ on their lands…! 8-(
How much of a role did proposed Oil/Gas pipelines play in the grand scheme of Bosnia/Kosovo/Serbia/Croatia…?
And you have to give up Bailey the cat?! And maybe Token?
Oh, no! There’s gotta be a better solution!
Suz, I’m with Ron. Yes, I’m a PollyAnna and perpetual optimist, but I really do think that you will find your place to be. I don’t think it’s magic… I just think it is being open to what is available to come along…. and I hope it works for you.
Four years – that IS hard to believe.
Ah, the perennial search for the perfect pink lemonade cake recipe! Not on the current agenda. I’ve managed to knock off 20+ lbs pretty easily (probably my meds)and don’t wanna undo that.
In the usenet days, I gained weight just reading rec.food.cooking. Recently have been playing with the Yummly recipe search engine more than I ought;-)
OK. So is there a song that would be like a fuck thread? I don’t know of one, because I’m too old. Anyone?
no other solution. bailey cant live here with the two hyper dogs that mike and jen have — it was either let her caretaker adopt her or have her go to a no-kill shelter. time was running out since i have to be out by the end of the month. i had no other choice.
toekn i have more time before a decision has to be made…
woohoo for losing 20+ lbs sunny!!!
how about this one? seems to fit
*heh* I’m always open to requests on my lln threads…! ;-)
That was pretty funny, esp. the costumes! Fuck this shit…heh.
You are the Queen of the Youtoobz, M’dear…! ;-)
Well, good sir — ???
ok peeps, my pain pills are kicking in and its time for me to stop typing.
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. am looking forward to seeing what tut has on tap for sun and mon — hope to see ya there
g’nite all
Sweet dreams, Suz…! *g*
Nite Suzanne!
I’m hitting the hay too — good heavens it is 2:28 am. Snoozing time.
We could make tomorrow’s lln, a f*ck thread, I’m game…! ;-)
Hey Margot. As suz might say, it’s excellent to see your fonts.
nite suz
Shite, I missed ya Suz. I just read through last night lln and tonight, and now, le poof.
I am sending good thoughts but dang, I am overwhelmed with all the losses for you. I got nothing on that. Nada.
Just sending a hug and hope for you to get all you need in a new place. Where are you going to look, top choice?
Sweet dreams, Christine…!
Oh Suz! I’m just gasping over the pet situation….
((((((((suzanne)))))))))
Aloha, bg…! ‘Gobsmacked’ seems to be the word that sticks in my mind about Suz’s plight…! *g*
A joke:
A little old lady walks into a bank with a brown paper bag. She tells the teller that she has $70,000 in cash to open an account with. The teller begins to open an account, but the little old lady says,” With this kind of deposit I want to speak to the bank president”.
The teller calls the president and he okays the little old lady coming into his office to secure the account. Placating her.
She sits down at his desk and pushes the $70,000 in the paper bag towards him to begin opening the account.
He’s curious. Do you always have this kind of cash?
She says,” I like to make big bets. In fact, I’ll bet you this $70,000 that your balls are square.”
He’s taken aback, but intrigued.
“Ma’am, I can assure you my balls are not square.”
The little old lady says,” I’ll bet you this $70,000 that your balls are square.”
The bank president is struggling with this strange encounter with a little old lady, but, $70,000 is….
He agrees to the bet that his balls aren’t square.
The little old lady says,” Excellent. I’ll come tomorrow at 10:30 with my lawyer and we’ll settle the bet”.
The next morning the little old lady arrives at the bank presidents office as scheduled, with her lawyer and her bag of cash.
The bankster takes her into his office .
Little old lady: “Here’s the cash. Drop your pants and prove your balls aren’t square.”
The banker hesitates, but she insists on proof. He drops his pants.
The little old lady says. “Just because they don’t look square doesn’t mean they aren’t. I want to feel them.”
The banker thinks of his dignity. And $70,000. And agrees that she can feel his balls. At the moment that the little old lady grabs the bankster’s balls , her lawyer jumps up and starts banging his head against the wall.
Startled, the bankster demands to know what the lawyer is doing.
The little old lady says,” I bet him 120,000 that I’d have a bank presidents balls in my hand before before noon today”.
That was a long one told to me by a 93 year old little old lady!
:]
LOL!
One of my new all time faves… Hell No (I’m Not Alright)
Good night, all. The best of all possible tomorrows to you all.
Especially Suz.
Sweet dreams, RonD.
She’d made a nice little profit…! ;-)
Pleasant dreams, Ron…!
I miss fuck threads.
We are getting too mature for our own good.
says the loose cannon…
life is
What price, having a bankster’s balls in your hand. ?
If you could here this joke told by this incredible little old lady. She has you gasping for breath from laughter. Her timing is perfect. She has 3 more Little Old Lady Jokes. But, I can’t do them justice here tonight.
She actually told the top 3 to the young, seriously handsome first responder in the corridor of the E.R. Last week. He was diagnosing her cognitive brain. He was shocked. And so happy.
I told you guys the clean ones!
…says the loose cannon…
*heh* your words, M’dear, not mine…! ;-)
‘Fire in the Hole’
Well, I hope to see ya’ll for tomorrow nite’s lln…! As always, Aloha Oe…! *g*
Impressive!
yo, baby
Sweet dreams, CTuttle.
