Angelique Kidjo — I Got Dreams.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening peeps… how ya’ll doing tonight?
Hi Suzanne, how are you this evening. Hope you’ve had a couple of good nights’ sleep!
Tonight Suz, I haz a sad.
I can no longer fool myself into believing the puppy had puppy epilepsy and would outgrow it. After only a couple of seizures for the better part of a year, she went into status epilepticus this afternoon. Sigh.
On the bright side, the previously tried acupuncture and Chinese herbs obviously worked, for 18 months.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Suz, I coulda sworn I had a mean flashback with this pic, ya tweeted earlier…! ;-)
hey dearie — how was your day? sun was jujube’s first birthday party and yesterday was her actual birthday. spent some good time away from the computer.
oh no tuez — i’m so sorry. (((tuez))) are you going to continue the program she has been on to keep as much at bay as possible?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? wasn’t that wicked kewl?
that sucks, tuez. sorry to hear that. i guess the vet can give her meds. I’m epileptic but I’ve never seen anyone have a seizure-except what they used to call petit mal one. i imagine it’s a frightening experience. my seizures are basically nonexistent as long as i take my meds. I think neil young is epileptic and used herbs to control his.
Aloha Suzanne and CT and all Pups!
Snow today and tonight! It freaked us all out, but no accumulation.
We are back to acupuncture, which she had after a big fat dose of phenobartibal which was supposed to knock her out, right. What I did last time was a series of 3 acupuncture treatments, once a week for three weeks and Chinese herbs. She had her last acupuncture treatment 18 months ago and I weaned her off the Chinese herbs a year ago and she’s had very few seizures since then, and had even gone 6 months between them.
Another Soggy day here in Hilo town…! I’ve learned to spot those geostationary satelites, and there’s beaucoup of them above Hawai’i, since we’re midway between North America and Asia…! ;-)
hey bfl – how’s the city beautiful tonight?
ce! yikes — doesn’t the snow know its forking april? *shriver* do you often get snow in april?
i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for her (and you)
isn’t it about time for the soggy season to be over?
Sorry you have them. We are kind of lucky in that the dog has very, very mild, subtle even, seizures. Partials that will turn into generalized seizures. Today they were switching hemispheres one right after the other. She doesn’t convulse or anything. A leg will contract or an ear or an eye will shut, while she shakes all over. Today they just kept moving from left to right, right back to left side.
Marsha and I discovered the whole observatory tour and restaurant. It was lovely.
Aloha, Christine…! Do you think it’ll mess with all blossoms and buds…?
Well, didn’t we WISH!
The worst part is, it takes months or even a year or two, to figure out what is really going on.
Not yet, usually May kicks off our second ‘Dry’ Season…!
How’s the food there…? I’ve never eaten there, CE…!
we were in the high 60′s sun for jujube’s party and the mid 60′s yesterday. not as much sun today (and then the showers arrived) but it was still a decent day. still a decent 53 degrees outside
Yes, we have had HUGE snowfalls in April, like three feet and the closing of Case Western University (which has happened twice in 32 years). Yea! 2 years ago in APRIL, I slogged home three city blocks, crying and dragging cans of cat food. How pathetic!
hi everyone. Rainy night here.
So, what did jujube think about her birthday? And were you able to be up and about just a bit?
Where are the pics of jujube’s party?
Marsha had spam! I had a ready breakfast that was just fine. We, here in the mid-west, laugh about Spam (good heavens, we never eat that canned catfood).
yikes! that’s gotta be such a bummer after seeing all the signs of spring — being whacked in the face by winter again
hey wmd — cold winter rain or warm spring rain?
OK MrCE is making me go to bed. Farewell All!
we made the bed and then i sat on the edge with the railings down on top of the comforter. that way we had extra seating if needed. her high chair was moved into the living room for the presentation of the cake so i had great views. whatta hoot!
of course by the end of the day my foot was quite angry about being in a down position for most of the day — and was not shy about letting me know it ….
My heart reaches out to each of you here .. so good to return for a visit .. life is what each of us make of it .. :)
g’nite ce and mr ce
Hey Tut, I’m thinking you might know about such things, do solar flares, winds, etc., really affect the power grids on earth?
hey tearloch — how ya doing tonight? are ya between games?
Passing thru … I am too conflicted to do more than read the Forum and shake my head right now .. hope your leg is getting better
Nothing worse. Feel for ya.
be well all ..
*shiver* a night to have a brisk fire chasing away the damp – how’s rc?
thanks tearloch — tomorrow i hit the 4 more weeks (at a minimum) mark
don’t be a stranger
Jukebox fodder. I may see Taj again on Friday in Saratoga, last time was at Roseland in Portland OR in ’97.
RC is hating house arrest, but until he grows fur again that’s his life.
i hope he plays hello josephine — i do miss all the concerts and shows not that far away back when i lived down there…
How come he lost his fur.
My cat loathes house arrest.
Shaved off to drain abscess.
Even Hormel has declared Hawai’i as the Spam Capital…! ;-)
I usually eat it only in Spam Musubis…!
Ah, yes, I remember.
That they can and do, tuez…! It often messes with all our sat feeds here, sometimes knocking it out entirely, or garbling the tv channels, amongst others…!
Here’s why I asked. Back when we first got the puppy the vet mentioned that solar activity had been proven to be a precursor to seizure events in both pets and people (also suicides, schizo’s going over the edge, etc.). Today when we just showed up with our dog in status epilepticus, the first thing he said was “I knew you’d show up” (not us in particular, but a combo of controlled and out of control seizure pets all of a sudden having issues). When our dog has a seizure, I’ve been checking solar activity and, yes, usually there is something going on with the sun. Today he mentioned the power grids. So, I’m just verifying his take on things. He also says that starting next year, there will be an 11 year cycle of limited sun activity. Is that true, as far as you know?
good night all.
I hadn’t realized it did have such an impact on pets and people, doesn’t surprize me tho, considering the lunar cycle has a similar effect…! Not sure about that 11 year solar cycle…!
Pleasant dreams, wmd…! Best wishes for RC…!
here’s the latest nasa prediction re the current solar cycle
wow, it just started raining here……we can use it, but it’s so odd to have our rainy season go on … all different this year, for sure.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this trauma with your dog.
As a lifelong dog owner, sometimes the genes just aren’t in the dog’s favor. It’s very hard.
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
I swear he had a NOAA website up but I can’t find it now. It had such a simple name I figured I’d remember. Ha.
Very fun. I went to a Ladies Poker game and only lost 60 cents! I’m not a game oriented person so I’ve resisted invitations, didn’t want to be the person staring at the cards knowing there were patterns involved, clueless .
I’m also being buzzed by a sluggish yellow jacket drawn to the computer screen. It’s spring!
60 cents is my kinda game :) i’ve been buzzed by something these past few days out on the front porch — all black but it sounds like a bee. per the news the pollen levels are really high and folks are sneezing all over the region
She had her first, as far as I know, seizure within 5 minutes of my bring her home with me. Impeccable breeding, 5 generations of champs on either side, no prior seizures (as far as I know but maybe I got the one bad apple, since I only wanted a pet). From my research she shouldn’t have had seizures, especially at 2 months, unless she had bad puppy wiring. At 2 years, and what I now know, still makes no sense. But, alas, we love the little shit/heathen anyway. We chose to keep her, because someone needed to love her. Even though 2 weeks after the fact and a ton of money, the breeder still offered to take her back.
dearie — i just saw this tweet — is this your area?
NWS * URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR SANTA BARBARA COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA. INCLUDES MONTECITO MISSION CANYON UNTIL 245 AM
Yes, love will out. We went through that with a Flat Coat Retriever. What are ya gonna do, it’s your Dog?
Good night all.
See ya on the flip side.
That’s my daughter’s area. I’m farther south. But, yes, the rain is really coming down. And rain is not something we expect at this time of year. I have a pitched roof, and I do love the sound of the rain on the roof. Some day I’d like to have a tin roof.
i love the sound of rain too but i don’t like it so loud that i can’t hear the tv or the phone ring. had many of those times at the cabin up in boulder creak — had a pitched roof there. the beach house had a metal roof but the well insulated attic between the roof and my unit really muffled it.
What am I gonna do? Buy more cheese to hide the Chinese herbs.
That’s all one can do. After all, a dog ain’t good for nothin’ but spoilin’.
With that. Nighters
Are you speaking of your lovely home on the bay…. or some other beach house?
the house on the bay….
I asked because you described it in the past tense. Are you not going back there once you are up and mobile again? It is such a lovely place.
i have to be out by the end of the month — landlord wants to move back in
I heart dogs.
Oh, I didn’t know. How sad…..and, cringe, how do you do that while you are stuck in a hospital bed????
gotta rely on others to do the packing — thank goodness the place is mostly furnished but i was there for almost 4 years and accumulated stuff. jen and mike and steph are trying to figure a way to get out there this weekend before steph heads back home tuesday. really hard since i can’t get up the stairs and point out what’s mine and what’s not…
i’m starting to slip into a more horizontal position peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
I still wish I’d been able to get up to your cabin to help you move…. I think I was waiting for my baby boys to be born. When I saw the pix of you all, I said, “Oh, wow, those are my people!” If I were in your new area I’d come on over and help this time. Hope the gather-up goes well for the kids. Will you go looking for a new home as soon as you are mobile?
Happy, interesting and colorful dreams, Suzanne. Sleep well.
Can someone explain this Ozzie Guillen thing to me? A venezuelan baseball manager says something vaguely complimentary of Fidel Castro and we suddenly have the Salem witch trials. It’s been an all out attack on the guy and he’s been defended much less than George Zimmerman by media. Sporty media are outraged the guy didn’t get fired because he said something like he admired that Castro has been attempted to be killed for 60 years and he survives and still leads. GUillen has always been loved by the sporty media because he is crazy and talks nonstop using profanity and slamming everyone and their brother, but suddenly this vague reference to Castro is beyond the pale. Weird.
Today we found out that James O’Keefe made 65k for his ACORN sting.
Think what a bargain that was for the right .
hey scrambler — sorry i missed you. yeah, it doesn’t make a whole lotta sense to me either.
hey spocko — well dang, that’s pocket change *sigh*
