g’evening lln pups — today is my halfway point day — 6 weeks down and 6 more to go before i can get outta this blasted hospital bed and learn to walk again :)
Ok, that’s weird, tried a couple of times to post, finally worked after I logged out then in again. Anyways, looks like the Republicans lost another one.
Hey, Suzanne, is Token with you? I hope so. Cuz I would so dedicate that song to my dogs! :)
I have a soft spot in my heart for crooners. I like the song.
openhope! so good to see your fonts — you have been coming in after i leave lately.
token is still at ‘grandpa and grandma’s house’… mel and marie run a dog boarding business and are keeping token — free of charge no less — until i am back on my feet again
sfgate has forking LONG urls…. don’t know if that factors in but i do know some spammers use a really long url within a url kinda thing to make a link look ‘innocent’
Our mini-summer gave way to chilly temps over the weekend and we’re hovering under freezing tonight.
Of course, it warms my Heart that our Dick-tator Mayor is getting his ass handed to him from all directions. He is a Neo-Con bully, who thought the people of Toronto are Sheep … wrong-o !
Doing well, thank you.
I’ve been in the cellar reorganizing my Food Hoarding stores,,,and wishing I could send you some home canned peaches to make you feel better.
I always think food can lift the spirits.
i saw freeze warnings for crops in michigan and other upper midwest areas…. we got wind and rain and may break the alltime most rain in march record by the end of the month.. this latest storm coming in tonight is supposed to be a super soaker with more than 3 inches predicted… only 2″ away from the record in portland according to the weather doodette on the teevee machine
woohoo! i had about 15 minutes of sunshine late this afternoon. got out onto the front porch as fast as that forking walker would let me — it was great soaking up the rays for a few minutes — they have been in short supply lately. then the sun was covered by clouds again and the wind came up and i scurried back inside
same ole same ole :) i have to admit, every time i type florida i type floriday — must be all that sunshine ya get down there is stuck in my brain or some other freudian kinda slip
Hey, no problem. I’m good. We’ve had rain and sun and fog and stuff. And my other grandson had his tonsils out today and did just great. Such little troopers they are. Hope they will each now sleep sounder and without gasping. Big tonsils are a real nuisance.
The boys are so cute! And who knew that tonsillectomies were still sometimes necessary. But, yes, they were kind of sleep apnea land with their huge tonsils. So both are now more balanced, as it were. And such good little boys. Each did their surgery with such good spirit. I’m so proud of my daughter and her husband for being wonderful parents to these little guys.
I’m really wishing George Zimmerman lived in the same neighborhood as we do. My husband and I don’t mind nosy neighbors but we hate busy bodies and would have had a lot of fun fuckin with him. The garage has been open for two days now, the doors and windows are always open (unless the AC is on) and the last dog used to do sentry duty from the car roof and was never tied up or fenced because he never left the yard. From what I’ve read about him, I’d have probably called the cops on him a few times and gotten in his face over the dog.
Interesting. I didn’t know enlarged tonsils cause sleep apnea but it makes sense. I thought they took out tonsils because they caused illnesses, or has that been de-bunked? Somewhere in the cobwebs de-bunking is trying to break through.
The whole thing is sad. I wonder if Zimmerman needed to prove himself to his father. From the various calls to 911, it just seems junior was kind of whacked. And a kid died because of that. And the police and news are skewering the 17 year old’s reputation. Very disturbing.
What is the saddest about what is being done to his reputation is that he appeared to be a very middle class kid. One of the pics of him seems to have been taken at a ski resort. I read in the Miami Herald that he liked to ride horses and he was found with an empty bag of pot (I don’t know how they do things in Miami, but usually the bag is free, not sure why he kept it) and, hence, expelled from school. I’m a 50 year old white chick who rode horses, skied and smoked pot at 17. I can’t help but wonder how much jealousy is at play here and the undermining of the middle class in general.
i saw something on twitter a bit ago about how zimmerman is switching lawyers and is now gonna use jose baez, casey anthony’s lawyer… there was not a link to go with it tho
I don’t know what Casey Anthony is doing. I vaguely recall that she had received a death threat at her hideout and had to move. She is on probation, so she’s in the state. I did hear she is learning Spanish, which makes sense because her only hope at having a life (to the extent that she does or does not deserve one) is to leave the country.
I wondered from the beginning why he didn’t use Jose Baez.
I really wonder who was behind last weekends “Zimmerman is the victim” spin. The first mention I saw of a lawyer claimed said lawyer hadn’t talked to Zimmerman about the shooting of Trayvon and didn’t think self-defense would work. That was Saturday. Sunday, there was a whole different spin on things. It was very amateurish, as became blazingly apparent with the police videos released today.
I think your whole family needs an award for outstanding family. How many families could, basically all move back in together, with half being incapacitated, and not end up a tragic news story.
oh, tuez, that is so true. now I don’t actually know that the Clan of Suzanne did not make the local papers, but they did not make the national evening news……to their credit! Good work all!
steph has really done yeoman’s work — she came to help jen with jujube and when she got here, found out she had me to help too. i’m gonna miss her when she goes home but i’ll be happy when she does — shes been here since 2/4 — put her life on hold to help family. i’m so proud of the woman she has become — i see why she is such a great nanny and know she will be a great parent if and when she starts that phase of her life
And, as one who went through four months of intense family working-together-because-there-was-no-other-way, I know…. I know … I know that these times will eventually be looked back upon with an enormous fondness and a real sense of solidarity. Everyone on earth should have such a time. It is splendid.
the police ‘investigation’ was crap — very amaturish in my humble opinion. they didn’t draw blood from zimmerman to see if he was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and didn’t do other ‘always done’ things — well, at least always done by my dept in california when doing a death investigation.
Did you see the video of when Zimmerman was brought in? I was stunned. I’ve actually had a broken nose (my adorable 2 year old slammed her head back with full enthusiasm and hit me square on the nose…..my nose was an “S” and blood was forthcoming.) When I saw that Zimmerman had no broken nose and no head wounds from being “slammed on the street” ….. well, the fix was in. I cannot even imagine the pain that Trayvon’s parents are experiencing….day after day.
no gloves on the officers handling him was what i first noticed. cops know to use precautions around blood – is forking drilled into them. i’ve seen how nose injuries can bleed and didn’t see any indication of that on his clothing either.
I think I heard in the last couple of days that one of the original investigating officers wanted to charge Zimmerman with manslaughter but someone (DA) said there wasn’t enough evidence. When it comes to what is said on the local TV, I usually only have one ear focused.
Not only that you know there are lots of pictures. I can’t believe the police chief would have even temporarily stepped down if he could have just shown a picture of a bloodied Zimmerman and said, “here, it was self-defense”. In this day and age, everyone takes a plethora of pics. Hell, even my dentist takes pics.
Well, uh, we morphed into such Gentleman Farmers after the horrid too many roosters thing……our last 10 meat hens are now laying huge eggs. It’s distressing to see the signs “Chicks Are In” when you pull into the feed store to buy MORE food for the birds you’re supposed to dispatch.
It’s complicated.
:)
I’m OK, but a little sleep-deprived: was up to 4 a.m. last night working on my picket sign for the rally to save adult education at East LA’s Mariachi Plaza from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. tomorrow. As I may have mentioned, the LA Board of Education, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to vaporize the adult division in a city with one of the highest rates of adult illiteracy in the country.
Wish us good weather and a big turnout; if it’s especially interesting, I may do a diary.
yup. i knew it was fucked when the chief stepped down… before then i was hesitant to believe what was being said — always been a until ya read the reports and know where the investigation lead ya don’t know the story kinda gal… when he stepped down i knew the cops had totally fucked it up — otherwise, as you said he wudda been defending the cops and citing the evidence work done etc
On the video the police seemed to be treating him like a former comrade on the force, like someone who had convinced them through prior engagement that he was “one of them.” One of them was not a police officer but possibly a member of another historical “klub.”
I’ve been reviewing the activities here during daylight. I hope you are fine as well. April 1, my old email address expires so I’ll send an update. If our hostess has fallen asleep that is what must be and probably for the best, rest is good.
The 99 is Late-Night-Lucky……and you saved Suzanne from herself. I wear myself out saving her from snagging it by accident every night. Thanks for helping out here! “:)~ Nice to see you here. Now get on back to bed!
In case everyone has already hit the pillows, it used to be that 100 was a big deal. But in honor of “We are the 99%” somehow someone said 99 is pretty darned special. So we all went with it.
Good night, Suzanne. Thanks for being the great hostess you are! [Throws flowers.Most sincerely.}
I’m hitting the couch to continue the Mad Men series catch up,a.k.a. bender, I’m on. I love a good placebo!
Oh, I just might screw up my sleep pattern for a change of pace. The garden is growing, the teen is practice driving, our early summer turned into a slightly warmer than normal spring. I tried to get my teen into her first job interview, we got through the application form, her interview was canceled as the wind was playing havoc at the store she was applying to for a part-time summer position and they were having trouble getting the electric up and running that afternoon.
The 99th post is a marker with mystical properties. Having your comment fall on 99 is a powerful thing.
Unless you’re Suzanne, and then it’s a number to beat yourself over the head with……..being the Host and hitting mystical 99.
Is that about right?
Always interested! And I do enjoy the garden reports. My grandbabyboys (age three and a half) helped my dad (age 94) plant some tomatoes (2 Jetsetters and 1 Stupice) in pots on his patio. They were so gentle and so interested. I was so proud of them. Our roots are in agriculture, though recent generations are more into the professions, and we just groove on growing things.
I’ve enjoyed reading the chicken stories, I have a vague memory of helping my grandfather with the chicken tasks as a real small kid. Probably why as much as it appeals to me as a project, for the time being it is not going to happen.
I noticed the starbuck mention of cherries and their healing properties. Our county used to be the largest single producer in the country for Montmorency cherries. I hope having so many as a kid, counteracted the effects of the lead-arsenic fungicidal sprays that washed into the ground water decades ago.
I hope so too….for your sake. My sister and I were reminiscing recently about how we kids, hoards of us, used to chase behind the trucks spraying junk in Houston on damp summer evenings. That we are all still alive and kicking is pretty amazing, I think.
Hey all, looks like the Republicans have another defection on their hands.
Hi Suz!
How you doing?
g’evening lln pups — today is my halfway point day — 6 weeks down and 6 more to go before i can get outta this blasted hospital bed and learn to walk again :)
Hi all, looks like the Republicans lost another one.
hey newton — i’m ok, thanks. how was your day?
Hi all.
Excellent, thank you!
Hey, the glass is half full of champagne!
Ok, that’s weird, tried a couple of times to post, finally worked after I logged out then in again. Anyways, looks like the Republicans lost another one.
hey hannibal – how ya doing tonight?
Looks like it won’t post comments that have any links in them tonight, or is that just with me?
of course, i keep getting reminded by the doc and the nurse and the pt lady and the social worker of the at a minimum part….
It’s all zip line all the way now! Wheeeeee!
seems to work for me — have ya tried to clear your cache
heartaches
Doing ok, hope you’re doing well.
Hey, Suzanne, is Token with you? I hope so. Cuz I would so dedicate that song to my dogs! :)
I have a soft spot in my heart for crooners. I like the song.
let me check the filters
*wOOt* !!!
And it’s Hump day, Suz … the 2nd half of anything always goes by quicker !
hannibal for some reason they got caught — i freed two of them
Trying it again, not sure what good clearing my cache would do.
openhope! so good to see your fonts — you have been coming in after i leave lately.
token is still at ‘grandpa and grandma’s house’… mel and marie run a dog boarding business and are keeping token — free of charge no less — until i am back on my feet again
glad ya liked the tune — how ya been?
Trippy.
Used a different URL, maybe the sfgate one was just too long or something?
hey petro — how’s toronto tonight? i sure as hell hope so because i’m going bat shit stir crazy
if ya have a partial page load, sometimes the features like reply or linking don’t work…. glad i checked the filters and freed them
Trying the sfgate link one last time, but to sum it up, the Republicans lost another one.
Oh, nevermind. I didn’t realize any of them actually got through.
sfgate has forking LONG urls…. don’t know if that factors in but i do know some spammers use a really long url within a url kinda thing to make a link look ‘innocent’
i freed the first three and the last two came through after as i marked the first ones not spam
i do know that the filters will tweak if ya do repeated links to the same thing….
I always think food can lift the spirits.
release me
aw thanks openhope — what a wonderful thought. you ordered this year’s chickens yet?
i saw freeze warnings for crops in michigan and other upper midwest areas…. we got wind and rain and may break the alltime most rain in march record by the end of the month.. this latest storm coming in tonight is supposed to be a super soaker with more than 3 inches predicted… only 2″ away from the record in portland according to the weather doodette on the teevee machine

woohoo! i had about 15 minutes of sunshine late this afternoon. got out onto the front porch as fast as that forking walker would let me — it was great soaking up the rays for a few minutes — they have been in short supply lately. then the sun was covered by clouds again and the wind came up and i scurried back inside
Floreeda, is Floreeda tonight.
i like that — you are right, it is very soothing.. not what i was expecting looking at the band name and album art
same ole same ole :) i have to admit, every time i type florida i type floriday — must be all that sunshine ya get down there is stuck in my brain or some other freudian kinda slip
city lights
Definitely no shortage of sunshine around here. And that’s the way I like it.
Christine had posted on my fb wall earlier that they’re home safe and sound…! ;-)
and now for some chet soothing
I can’t believe neither of you got any pix. But I’m glad you got such a special visit out there in the Pacific. Hope CE had some dreams fulfilled.
yay! they get back in ohio and you finally get blue skies…. yikes, that’s my kinda luck
hey dearie — did i forget to say hi to ya when you came in earlier? if so i’m sorry, i was back and forth checking the filters….
how ya doing tonight?
I can’t believe they didn’t get pics either. I think they are being shy, which is okay too.
Hey, no problem. I’m good. We’ve had rain and sun and fog and stuff. And my other grandson had his tonsils out today and did just great. Such little troopers they are. Hope they will each now sleep sounder and without gasping. Big tonsils are a real nuisance.
yay! so good to hear he came through ok. now both of them are breathing properly! what a fantastic feeling it must be to know they are
Sorry, M’dear…! I really did want to take some pics, especially when she was holding the Munchkin…! ;-)
Glad to hear he is recovering nicely.
earl scruggs and steve martin

i wonder where he is hiding now… at his dad the former magistrate’s house is my guess
earl and the cheiftains
I have no idea. Maybe with Casey Anthony, they can compare notes.
ooooo i had not thought of her…. didn’t she leave the state and have to come back for her probation
The whole thing is sad. I wonder if Zimmerman needed to prove himself to his father. From the various calls to 911, it just seems junior was kind of whacked. And a kid died because of that. And the police and news are skewering the 17 year old’s reputation. Very disturbing.

On a lighter note, Suzanne, how is jujubee doing at the walking-thing?
And how is Jen doing at the walking-thing?
As dreadful as this has been for you, I know you have the capacity to enjoy the good things happening around you. Best to all of you.
And how is Steph holding up?
I don’t know what Casey Anthony is doing. I vaguely recall that she had received a death threat at her hideout and had to move. She is on probation, so she’s in the state. I did hear she is learning Spanish, which makes sense because her only hope at having a life (to the extent that she does or does not deserve one) is to leave the country.
*heh* Good Advice…
jen is doing better. jujube is still only taking a couple steps before she falls down. they will both improve with practice
I wondered from the beginning why he didn’t use Jose Baez.
I really wonder who was behind last weekends “Zimmerman is the victim” spin. Sunday, there was a whole different spin on things. It was very amateurish, as became blazingly apparent with the police videos released today.
steph is looking forward to returning home to colorado in a couple weeks — she has been such a trooper but is ready to resume her life again
I think your whole family needs an award for outstanding family. How many families could, basically all move back in together, with half being incapacitated, and not end up a tragic news story.
I give you credit Suz, ya done good.
oh, tuez, that is so true. now I don’t actually know that the Clan of Suzanne did not make the local papers, but they did not make the national evening news……to their credit! Good work all!
steph has really done yeoman’s work — she came to help jen with jujube and when she got here, found out she had me to help too. i’m gonna miss her when she goes home but i’ll be happy when she does — shes been here since 2/4 — put her life on hold to help family. i’m so proud of the woman she has become — i see why she is such a great nanny and know she will be a great parent if and when she starts that phase of her life

well.. we do have another 6 weeks (at a minimum) to go before i’m cut loose… *knocking on wood*
What a great old song. Good pick, Suzanne.
Did you see the video of when Zimmerman was brought in? I was stunned. I’ve actually had a broken nose (my adorable 2 year old slammed her head back with full enthusiasm and hit me square on the nose…..my nose was an “S” and blood was forthcoming.) I think I heard in the last couple of days that one of the original investigating officers wanted to charge Zimmerman with manslaughter but someone (DA) said there wasn’t enough evidence. When it comes to what is said on the local TV, I usually only have one ear focused.
Nope. No blood, no head wound, no grass stains on his back, no friggin’ nothin’. The whole things is a sorry coverup of a killing.
i saw that and wondered why manslaughter and not murder… and if his daddy the former magistrate had anything to do with the da saying that…
Not only that you know there are lots of pictures. I can’t believe the police chief would have even temporarily stepped down if he could have just shown a picture of a bloodied Zimmerman and said, “here, it was self-defense”. In this day and age, everyone takes a plethora of pics. Hell, even my dentist takes pics.
From your former midwest insomniac, congratulations on the half-way (seems like only yesterday)through the process, Suzanne!!
I set my alarm just to say hello and wish you the best.

Wish us good weather and a big turnout; if it’s especially interesting, I may do a diary.
yup. i knew it was fucked when the chief stepped down… before then i was hesitant to believe what was being said — always been a until ya read the reports and know where the investigation lead ya don’t know the story kinda gal… when he stepped down i knew the cops had totally fucked it up — otherwise, as you said he wudda been defending the cops and citing the evidence work done etc
oy…. well on the plus side ya gotta lotta really fresh eggs
fingers and toes crossed for good weather
if ya do a diary, let me know — i would love to read it, recommend it and tweet it for ya
Thank you so much, Suzanne. I haven’t read much upthread — how are you feeling?
Hey,Suz, did you see nonq’s sweet message at 89
On the video the police seemed to be treating him like a former comrade on the force, like someone who had convinced them through prior engagement that he was “one of them.” One of them was not a police officer but possibly a member of another historical “klub.”
That is sweet.
The only reason I occasionally make an appearance on weekends is because either the dog or cat got me up. But Nonq set an alarm…
Hello Dearie,
I’ve been reviewing the activities here during daylight. I hope you are fine as well. April 1, my old email address expires so I’ll send an update. If our hostess has fallen asleep that is what must be and probably for the best, rest is good.
Is that “klub” or “kkklub”?
Sweetest!
hey nonq — sorry i missed you when ya came in (thanks dearie for the heads up)…. thanks dood — how ya been?
i’ve been better and i’ve been worse. today is my halfway here day — 6 weeks down and 6 more to go….
Please do! I so enjoy hearing how you and your girl are doing….and especially enjoy reading about what you are cooking! Good. Nice. Lovely.
thanks dearie… i think my pain pills are kicking in and i’m not as focused as i usually am — appreciate you saying something
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 nonq!!!
G’nite all.
Gots to go to bed. I’m tired and have an early, for me, dentist appointment.
May your tomorrow be fab.
g’nite tues — hope it goes well at the dentist
Wishing you good weather and a big turnout. It’s very cool that you spent time on your sign.
Thank you.
:)
sorry for zoning out a wee bit earlier peeps. as i said, my pills are kicking in — i should probably be offline….
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Sweet dreams or no dreams and a good comfy sleep for you, Suzanne.
I’m OK, not a lot going on the work scene, our county is highest percent-wise unemployment in the state.
The 99 is Late-Night-Lucky……and you saved Suzanne from herself. I wear myself out saving her from snagging it by accident every night. Thanks for helping out here! “:)~ Nice to see you here. Now get on back to bed!
Woot, unexpected honor, thanks. I’d sing you a nice lullaby if I was there.
Happy and colorful dreams, All.
This makes me feel like an outsider, but can someone explain to me the significance of the 99th post?
In case everyone has already hit the pillows, it used to be that 100 was a big deal. But in honor of “We are the 99%” somehow someone said 99 is pretty darned special. So we all went with it.
Good night, Suzanne. Thanks for being the great hostess you are! [Throws flowers.Most sincerely.}
Thanks for asking.
Ah, thank you :)
We…are…the 99th post!
The 99th post is a marker with mystical properties. Having your comment fall on 99 is a powerful thing.
Unless you’re Suzanne, and then it’s a number to beat yourself over the head with……..being the Host and hitting mystical 99.
Is that about right?
Niters Tuesday, I’m needing thread comment following practice myself.
Well, gotta finish working on my picket sign for the rally tomorrow, so will sign off as well. Night, all.
Sweet dreams, all.
Ah, another good explanation. If I knew this site had mystical properties, I would have come here sooner.
Tea-time and lights out, be good pups. Nice to be able to join you for a bit.
I hope so too….for your sake. My sister and I were reminiscing recently about how we kids, hoards of us, used to chase behind the trucks spraying junk in Houston on damp summer evenings. That we are all still alive and kicking is pretty amazing, I think.
Good-night, Nonq. Thanks for joining the night owls.
DOod Morning….so sorry I missed any part of the evening….I LOVE that song. Suz, Cheers and hugs. Hope the days are getting better. BL
