What’s on your mind?
Zed. Fitz.
hi Suz.
RC is on the mend
I was rolling around in the archives today and remembering some posters and commenters I’ve missed and some who are still around. Great fun. You’ve got a friend!
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight?
*heh* Cover all the bases, eh…? ;-)
Aloha, Suz and lln pups, another great clip…!
Hi Suz!
How are you doing, Suzanne? I hope you’ve had some good sleep…..and interesting dreams.
hey wmd — good news! how much longer with the cone of shame and drain?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
no more nightmares *knocking on wood* slept better last night — doc upped the # of pain pills i take and i am to take 2 when i go to bed now
It would start clearing up as Christine is winging her way home, right…? ;-)
A good night’s sleep is all about everything!
Hi all!!!
Bummer about the weather, but still, paradise is paradise. So glad you got to have a nice visit.
double crapiola — still a rainy paradise is better than no paradise at all
hey tuez — how ya doing tonight?
hey, tuez, how are you doing? Let’s rock this place!
drain comes out friday. cone on Monday. house arrest for quite a while.
Jane Fonda slated to play Nancy Reagan.
Oh yeah, and hi!
I can’t get my frickin’ teeth out.
Ah, another Tuesday came and went.
Well, Christine did say she wants to live here still…! I guess some rain ain’t as bad as a bout of ‘morning sickness’…! ;-)
Hey Dearie
I can understand it. Have you ever been to Cleveland? I guess it must grow on people or something.
I’d just posted that link on Lisa’s ln thread, ain’t that a hoot…? ;-)
hey hannibal how was your day? wow, betcha that gets the rwnjs all riled up *hehehehe*
Ironically, my eldest would rather live in Ohio, than come back home…!
i hate that! i found that putting my fingers on the far back on one side (usually the left) and wiggling and rocking it back and forth will eventually pop that side loose. of course, it is usually because i used too much of that blasted tooth glue and some of my gums came off when i finally got the forking teeth out.
hey starbuck — how ya doing tonight?
Almost half way around the world. That ought to tell you something!
Yeah, I’m almost giddy about it. That screenwriter must take particular pleasure in enraging right wingers. Same guy who wrote Game Change. The movie’s also going to have John Cusack playing Nixon.
I think Cleveland might be nice for the 2 or 3 days a year they have nice weather, the rest of the time…
My day was great, thanks, and yours?
Foot still aches and cannot drive. Otherwise, having fun testing the new Photoshop CS6 beta, on Win 8, no less!
rain is better than snow — especially in the middle of winter :)
Speaking of rain, a squall just passed over.
hahahahaha i can’t wait — even if it is a crappy movie its still gonna tweak the hell outta the r’s…. hanoi jane playing the holy madonna nancy hahahahaha
This is my lower partial. I’ve been to the dentist twice in the past two weeks because I couldn’t get it in. When I was in last Thursday, he filed it down, I popped it right in (been fighting with it ever since) but neglected to see if I could get it out. I’ve been fighting to get it out too. Guess I’ll go back tomorrow. I guess my real teeth are on the move, not sure where they think they are going, and cause me to have problems with the partial.
Mark this one for a Friday sometime.
Life is a hoot. Nancy must be having fits! I don’t go after old ladies, but, well, some things are just so richly deserved.
CS6 is cool stuff, I’ve been working with those guys.
tomorrow i will be at the halfway point of this forking no weight bearing living in a forking hospital bed — 6 weeks down and 6 more to go
on the really good news side, jen came home from her pt today without her crutches. she is now offically walking on her own two feet, can go up and down the stairs and should be able to carry the baby by next week. so good to see her life returning to normal — i got all teary when she walked in — i am so happy for her
oh yuck. i have no experience with partials. my upper is the take out at night kind that is not to be left in overnight.
Well, it’s better than Meryl Streep. Nancy Reagan was just too banal.
Have you had your foot x-rayed yet to see if it is broken, or your toes?
With Adobe? Doing what?
sweet! so marked!!! i’ve done this coconut one but not that one.. thanks dood
You girls have really had a time! You’ll all three be walking soon enough. And you’ll three + Steph & Jen’s hubby be so proud of each other and yourselves. Life presents such ‘interesting’ adventures.
I’m not supposed to keep this in either but I’ll be damned if it wants to come out.
Hey, how is Token doing without his mom?
GPU enablement.
— i got all teary when she walked in — i am so happy for her
Right on, Jen…! Before ya know it you’ll be walking too, Suz…! *g*
talked to the ortho pa on the phone yesterday about it when we were going over my breakthrough pain problems at night. he said he is going to look at it on 4/4 when i go in and we talked about xrays then. the nurse who has examined the foot last week and again today thinks it is a combo of swelling and a spot under the toes where the cast caused the start of a pressure sore — one that didn’t come up to the skin like the heel one did and it has remained internal only.
if it was a plot in a movie or a book no one would believe it
More for the jukebox.
he’s having a great time hanging out with his bff bean and bean’s humans mel and marie. she takes him for runs on the beach and he chases seagulls, egrets and anything that flies. he tries to catch the waves as they hit the sand and is having a forking blast.
No doubt…! I still don’t believe it…! ;-)
i’ll be a lot happier when i’m at the jen stage instead of the 6 more weeks (at a minimum) stage.
No, I haven’t. But there is no inflammation at all no redness. The pain seems to wander all over my foot. That doesn’t feel like broken bones, but I probably should have it checked.
neuroma?
dood has a great voice…. not heard him before
i shake my head in disbelief when i think about it…. and thank the stars that stephanie’s fibula has been safe (so far – knocking on wood)
Be careful about any internal, festering, sores. They can cause major problems. Take your temp. and be sure you don’t have any low grade fevers.
short people
Gout. I’ve had it before so it’s the most likely.
nurse said all my vitals were good — as they have been all along. no signs of fever and i check for hotness on that foot several times a day.
That reminds me of this great tune, wmd… Homeless…
Hi Suz et al, so sorry you are still having all these complications of the dang broken bones.
Take Aleve (Naproxen Sodium) for it.
That had been for Suz.
You have the “I enjoy the finer eats in life” disease. I’m probably headed there.
Outstanding!
Oh! I did wonder about broken bones myself.
Start eating cherries, and cherry juice. That is what has worked for me in the past, but I stopped when the pain went away.
My bad.
hey bg — how ya doing tonight?
i think part of it is due to my pain meds being stepped down from powerful (synthetic morphine) to strong (oxy) and then from strong to routine (vicodin). add in the increased activity and now doing range of motion and leg straightening and strengthening exercises and… the end result is i’m feeling more pain and discomfort than i was right after surgery.
I am taking Ibuprofen. It works but not that well. I don’t want to take stronger stuff as they affect the kidneys exacerbating the uric acid problem.
You mentioned cherry juice last night. Can one buy that? I can’t say I’ve ever seen it, or the price caused me to look away. I do like cherries though, especially Rainier cherries.
hey newton — thanks dood. how was your day?
how do cherries and their juice help prevent gout?
My doctor told me Naproxen works and is less toxic than Indomethicin.
There are lots of cherry products out there. You can find them in heath food sections. About $4 for a quart. Compared to meds, I’ll pay the 4 bucks.
a few words
Hi Susanne. Hope you’re doing well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25waL5oTWDI
Day was good, thanks. We got rained on from about 1:30 until the last hour or so. So yeh!
hey vmt — i’ve been better but then again, i’ve been worse :) how ya doing?
the only thing Naproxen does for me is cause massive indigestion.
http://technorati.com/lifestyle/article/why-cherries-are-such-a-great/
Hey, that’s way less than pom juice. Still can’t say as I’ve ever seen it though.
Trader Joe’s has cherry juice. Do you all have a Trader Joe’s nearby? Also the only place I can find pappardelle. Also reasonably priced and tasty olive oil. Also fresh natural salmon when no one else has it.
yay! ya’ll need a day or two to dry out and then more rain. ca has had a very dry wet season this year
wow… i’ve always loved eating cherries… now i have a great excuse (and reason) to eat more
I’m about the same, but I have a day off tomorrow so I’m taking a breather. So I guess I’m on the front end of a nice day off and that’s good.
reply not working at the moment, Suz. I imagine the docs are worried about addiction issues, but it seems like they need to put you back on what works for the short term.
I still don’t have any kind of routine, the cats are having a majorly confusing time trying to figure out what I am doing, coming or going. I realized tonight for sure that one of the ferals in the colony I feed has gone over the rainbow bridge. She was a nice cat, was always there with one other whenever I would feed, but we had an incident a couple of weeks ago, and she died. The other women who feed have come to the same conclusion, and they are very sad about it. None of us saw the cat who died, but all the info we have fits.
the front end of a day off is always a good place to be — got any plans for it?
Never heard of Indomethicin.
So what do you have to say about CS6? I am posting on the CS6 forums and found a couple of anomaly’s. But it works well on Win 8 although I did go back to Win 7 because my printer has no Win 8 compliant driver.
Well out here we are swimming in salmon.
if ya try to hit reply before the page has completely loaded it won’t work. if the page has fully loaded, then try clearing your cache.
you and the cats are still adjusting to the change in your routine. so sorry to hear about the crossing over
the biggest problem is the constipation issues – not so much the addiction ones altho both the hydromorphone and oxy have their own set of addition risks
Cherries for gout et al is proof you can have your cake and eat it too!
I like CS6. Not supposed to really talk about it though.
Actually tomorrow I have to write a statement of purpose and do some studying, so it’s really the front end of a day of procrastination and panic.
I need to get to sleep, 6:00 AM call again tomorrow.
no kidding.. as long as it is cherry cake hehehehe
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 wmd!!!
No we don’t have Trader Joe’s here :(. They are moving east but not fast enough.
When it comes to olive oil, have you ever had the first picked, hand squeezed nuevo oil? Ab fab. So earthy.
shit — that’s no fun at all. i’m the queen of procrastination so i totally sympathize with ya
Thanks Suz. It’s all good. I have time and I’m relishing it.
I think cherries are my favorite fruit, love them every kind of way. But they are expensive, and I don’t spring for them often, so they are always a treat.
If you are a procrastinator, you might enjoy this, sorry to be a blog whore, but I adore this woman.
with ry cooder and linda ronstand
Yes, yes…..we do get some delicious California olive oil. But it can be very expensive. Deservedly so, I think. But for a really serviceable olive oil for daily use, I find Trader Joe’s brand to be very good and affordable. (Better in taste than most grocery brands.)
That’s funny.
Beta is now public and there is plenty of talk on their forums, so it looks like they have relaxed somewhat. However, if you have signed an NDA, that does tie your hands.
ACR 7 is dynamite! Some of the other stuff, like the Content Aware Patch is over blown. The demos are carefully picked to look well but in the kind of work I do, even the old clone tool is better, and in many cases still the only tool. The Original Content Aware in CS5 does work quite well also.
I also delight in the interface. Elegant!
its only a blog whore if you are the writer — its pimping when its someone else’s work :)
political science
bg — i love it — i’ve bookmarked her site — thanks
Hi Suz, glad you liked the Hank pix.
I heart Ry… Down In Mississippi…
I don’t know.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ChjLMbXVrU
hey that guy — how ya doing? what’s not to love with a big orange guy with huge paws :)
I used to think cherries expensive, even as the local growers between The Dalles and Hood River actually had to trash a huge volume of the fruit in the 2010 growing season for a lack of buyers. Yet, the price at their stands was the same as at Fred Meyers.
Go figure!
No, I’m talking about the Italian nuevo oil.
However, if Trader Joe’s has a reasonably good alternative..
I’m doing ok…worried about my job ending but nothing i can do about that.
another don’t do me
Happy to pimp for her.
wmd got the lucky 99!
does no good to worry about it when ya have no fucking control over it…. (((that guy)))
ry and david lindley
I seriously don’t understand the Trader Joe’s attraction. I don’t like being in the store, and compared to it’s competitors here, mainly New Seasons and Whole Foods, they are a distant third if that.
What drives me nuts is when I compliment a hostess of a particular dish, the response is “Trader Joe’s”!
WTF is that supposed to mean?
Total snobbery, imo. I purchased a bottle of mayo there not long ago and couldn’t eat it. Cardboard with vegetable oil, to me.
Do you one better.

Oh, I’m sorry about your worry. It sucks.
one
John Lee Hooker and Ry…
A bunch of us actually brought back quarts of Italian olive oil (from an orchard in Umbria, where my grandsons were baptized in summer 2010 — they were baptized in an ancient church, not in the olive orchard)…. but we all found the olive oil, even if first press, was kind of bland. I’ve had some delicious olive oil from local farms in California…..delicious!
Guitar bliss.

I agree that not all of Trader Joe’s stuff is great, but we don’t have any of the expensive specialty stores (Whole Foods, e.g.) and what Trader Joe’s offers is good stuff at a fair price with workers who are paid a good salary for good work. And pappardelle…..which I cannot find anywhere else!
Oregon has developed a fine reputation for wines and now olive oil is coming up strong. Did some oil tasting last fall in the orchards and was quite impressed.
By the price too!
But if you wanted to purchase, you filled bottles from bulk and could mix your own from different olives. Nice touch.
ok peeps, i’ve taken the two(!) pain pills that i needed to take based on the clock on the wall (tidy reference back to lyric in my #128) so i guess its time for me to stop putting my thoughts into fonts before i say something stupid or typo so bad that it just looks like i said something stupid.
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. hope to see ya tomorrow night when i will be exactly at the halfway point!!!
g’nite all
Yes, olive oil is the new ‘vintage’…..and there are some wonderful oils. At my local farmers market, a couple of young women sell their grandfather’s olive oil, and it is delicious. Not inexpensive, but well worth the price. But for a day in/day out olive oil, I find Trader Joe’s to be quite good.
Oregon is growing some really good cranberries, too. The best I’ve ever canned.
I think Trader Joe’s is for the most part good, but they’re also fairly cheap. It’s the cheap part that brings me back, but I know that their suppliers are often the same people making crap for Safeway.
Good-night, Suzanne. Happy colorful, interesting and adventurous dreams.
Night Suzanne.
I like Emanthaler cheese. It is half as expensive at Trader Joe’s as at my local Ralphs grocery store.
I like their cheese too. I also like a lot of their frozen food. I’m not crazy about a lot of their sweet stuff, though. Seems hit and miss to me when it comes to my sweet tooth.
I can’t even imagine what their sweet stuff is! They do have some good buys on fruits and vegetables and on nuts and dried fruits. I guess I like also that their staff is happy and well-paid and keep the store in good order. Wines are also good values.
Night all. I have to run.
Sweet dreams, Suz…! *g*
Yep, it’s nice to support a store that treats its workers decently. Costco, last I heard, was also a decent employer and I’m a fan of them also.
hiya CT — eveone still awake?
Me, too. I shop CostCo when I need to buy in bulk. Or, for example, when my dad needed a hearing aid. His very accomplished ear doctor said to go to CostCo, and we did. Saved a thousand dollars. And, while you won’t find prime meats at your local grocer, you can find prime cuts at CostCo. Wow.
I wouldn’t put a foot into WalMart because of how they short their workers, but CostCo has a good and satisfied staff. Interesting place.
hiya Dearie
Aloha, PPD…! I am…! ;-)
Hey, PPD, I’m still watching Colbert and enjoying a pleasant evening. And you?
you’ve got the three hour jump on us, CT
Yep, I’m definitely time-zone challenged…! ;-)
Just watching some PBS – Live from the Artist’s Den — Squeeze
Hawaii’s waaaaay south of us, too.
Time for some sleep — be well, CT.
