RC has been on house arrest since Saturday. he has been hiding out, when I pick him up he doesn’t seem to have any painful spots, but his energy level is low. he’s eating and eliminating.

I think he’s got an infection of some sort. Doesn’t seem to be an abscess, as he isn’t sensitive to me petting/prodding him.

woke up to about an inch or two…. tis all melted away now but it sure was pretty to look out. snowed from about sunset until 1 or 2ish this morning. had a horrible night filled with pain and nightmares — not sure if it was the cold or what but i just could not get comfy last night and spent most of the night tossing and turning — every toss and turn requires a readjustment of the pillow — either between my knees when on my side or under my ankle so the pressure sore ‘floats’ when laying on my back.

the kaiser social worker came out for a visit today and we talked about pain management and she’s gonna talk to the doc about maybe something stronger at night. i’ve only slept 4 hours max at a time since the fall on 2/4. she also agreed that there may be something going on with my foot and is gonna ask the doc to order an xray of it — i’m having lab work done monday so i can get it done that same day — the xray dept is right next to the lab in the beaverton facility — i don’t have to go across town to the interstate center where the orthopedist is

The Trayvon Martin rally tonight seems to have been pretty huge. News said over 10k, black, white, green and yellow in attendance. Not a cop in sight, interestingly (I’m sure there were plenty of undercover). I think the only civil rights activists they were missing were Amy Goodman and Cornell West. And a new state prosecutor was named.

Maybe that poor child will get some justice after all.

Maybe RC has a bad tooth. Whenever my cat has something that hurts, she growls whenever she looks at the area, so I can figure out where she hurts. Like if it’s her ear, she will growl while scratching it.

According to a state rep, from Orlando, who is black, the state prosecutor is the real thing. However, she also has moved more juvies into adult court than anyone else, which I personally find troublesome. Now I find it hard to believe a black state rep would cheer on someone putting kids into adult court. We shouldn’t use the ruthless a-holes only when it suits our purposes.

I wonder if it’s your pain meds causing nightmares. Anti-depressants are notorious for nightmares (depending on one’s definition, I kinda like them).

I recall tremendously vivid dreams when using nicotine patches. Whether they were nightmares or just common dreams, they rang out, and bolting straight up, drenched and panting from a sound sleep, was not uncommon.

OK, not so sound, I guess.

The only reason I’m willing to wait and see what happens is because the D state rep from Orlando, who is black, actually recommended her for the post.

my meds were taken down a notch last week from oxy to vicodin. no anti-depressants altho i’ve worried that i may be depressed. hell, who wouldn’t be after having one’s life turned upside down with a broken leg, having to move, not having my critters, etc. i’m really glad i have a social worker who helps me sort out what’s what. its been such a huge clusterfuck — and to be honest, a nightmare in and of itself

Oxycodone to hydrocodone is a big drop. I was really glad when I wasn’t taking percocet for acute pain.

hey past — how ya doing? now that i got the ok to put lotion on the leg and foot to help with the crocodile skin, i found i have a very tender spot and what feels like a bone outta place on the sole of my foot underneath the #3, #4, and #5 toes — the toes that are still swollen, numb, and barely move. janette said she is gonna have the nurse who is coming out tomorrow to check on my pressure sore take a look at the foot — i dont have that kinda boney bump on the bottom of my left foot.

i’ve been dreaming more with the pain meds but they have all been very pleasant dreams — until last night

Vivid dreams/nightmares are actually a common side effect of drugs. I wouldn’t discount it.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if you weren’t suffering from situational depression.

i was on oxy until the surgery and then i was on hydromorphone — synthetic morphine (dialuid iirc) until 3/1 when i went back down to oxy for 2 weeks. my surgery was only a wee bit more than a month ago on 2/15. both the hydromorphone and oxy are very addictive and i was glad to be off them.

I’ve not seen that anyone knows where Zimmerman is. He did move though, as the neighbors saw the Uhaul. Like most bullies he’s just a coward and ran as soon as the heat turned up a little.

i keep that forking foot above my heart as much as possible… sleep with the foot of the hospital bed cranked up as high as it goes and the head as low as it goes. the blood flow is better — it doesn’t swell immediately when i lower the foot nor turn red and purple right away — it holds off until i get to the hall bath before doing so now :) tis an improvement

Sara went to the doc today. No change. Still 2 centimeters dilated. I tried to talk her out of going to the last three days of work. She works a 12 hour night shift. She is 8.5 months pregnant. Girl doesn’t know when to stop.

That’s kinda strange. Even an undiagnosed, untreated break should be close to healed on it’s own by now. Although your foot would need blood to heal, and if it’s not getting it…

The School Board of the Los Angeles Unified School District, where I’m an adult school teacher, has voted to vaporized the adult division. What’s doubly galling is that they do have the money. We’re a very politically active bunch, though, and are having a rally at Mariachi Plaza in East LA next Thursday from 1:30 to 4:30 for anyone who might be in the area.

It was all foggy when I went to the grocery store…. so I bought an organic chicken. Had the rest of the fixings for a fine chicken soup. Butchered the chicken and browned it. I finally put 2 quarts of lovely broth into the frig just minutes ago after it cooled down. I think I’ll make some chicken pot pie tomorrow.

doc said yesterday that she was impressed with how much i’ve cut back compared to how long i’ve smoked (over 40 years) and how much (way too much). even tho it is a situational reduction its a good thing. i do try to be considerate — don’t smoke in the house so i gotta say it was a pain lugging that 50 lb monster cast outside. tis easier now that i’ve got the brace and can sorta bend the knee now. still a pain getting out to the front porch — thank goodness it has a bench so i can sit and is covered by the roof. was so pretty sitting out there yesterday watching the snow fall — so peaceful and soothing.

I actually found a guy in El Granada who raises foul, and might have had an aged rooster I was (not) looking for.

Trouble is, the recipe called for a really old rooster – like 2 years old – AND all of it’s blood.

i did! i have been on a baby aspirin a day for years. right now the docs bumped it up to one 325 mg aspirin twice a day to lessen the risk of a blood clot due to the leg and no weight bearing etc.

sad to think that if aspirin was just now being discovered that each forking pill would cost an arm and a leg — assuming it would get approved by the fda at all. betcha those old broads drank willow bark tea — iirc aspirin is the active ingredient in that old time fever reducer/pain killing tea

One of the things I’ve been doing is reading conceal care blogs. I’m wondering what they will say.
Astonished at the huge amount of energy they invest in their world view. To the point of absurdity.
Some are getting it and stopped defending him. He is now an Outliver unworthy of protection.

Another little bit of evidence still missing from the Trayvon Martin tragedy is the almost four dozen other 911 calls Zimmerman made to Sanford police since early last year. Are these still on file, not destroyed or erased? What happened following each call, and presumably the Sanford police responded? Did the calls contain similar racist Zimmerman rants involving “suspicious characters”? Was anyone ever arrested? Did Zimmerman ever defy police dispatcher orders, like he did the night he killed Trayvon Martin? Did Zimmerman ever chase down and hold someone at gunpoint, waiting for the police to arrive? I bet those nearly four dozen previous 911 calls by Zimmerman would reveal a lot.
