same today as the day before… and the day before that… and the day before that
the monotony is a bitch dood — i’ve got a doc appt tomorrow afternoon that i’m looking forward to just for the chance to get outta the house. not an ortho visit — a new to me primary doc so i know i’m gonna get yelled at for a multitude of sins
hey twain — how ya doing tonight? i think lee’s raspy voice is what makes this song so special… i forking loved paint your wagon when it came out.
the wife with two husbands appealed to my budding feminism — if a husband can have two wives…. loved that line in the movie. and the cinematography was fantastic
i’ve not seen a kaiser primary doc since a couple years before i moved to oregon… i figure this one is really gonna yell at me and order all kinda tests
hey tuez — how’s florida tonight? i’ve been really good tuez – pinky swear
i don’t want this prolonged one day more than it has to be — and know if i put weight on my leg that i run a high risk of (1) pain and (2) adding time to the countdown clock
but not with art :( i spose its just nostalgia for the good ole days (which were not all that good when ya think about it) that has me wishing and hoping
Love ol’ Lee Marvin.
Suz, I hope you have a hot time in the old town tomorrow…Lunch out, maybe. Totally hear you on how going to the doc can be a woo hoo thing to look forward to.
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? i’m looking at 3 to 6 inches of rain between now and thursday — unless of course, the rain becomes snow down here on the valley floor. huge snowstorm in the cascades
I bought a cute little used Honda scooter for my daughter when she was in grad school. She loved it! She then moved to snow country and sold it before she moved. But she really liked it…..convenient, relatively safe (in an area with lots of ‘em), and inexpensive., and easy to find parking.
I’d be very interested to know what the hell happened on that I/P thread last night. Here is the thread in which the incident occurred:
* Alan Maki posted a link to this (IMHO innocuous) video at #11, which drew the following reprimand from the moderator:
[Mod note - link removed. Completely offensive. Link it again and your commenting privileges here will be instantly and permanently suspended.]
* Alan protested mildly at #12.
* Michael Cavlan protest a tad more boldly at #16
* ET protested yet more boldly at #26
* As did I at #27.
* Alan announces at #34 that Michael has been banned and his account disabled.
A major food fight erupted over this matter at this thread today, and it now has 733 comments.
i’ve only left the house for doc appts since 2/4. the furtherest i get is sitting on the bench on the front porch which has a great roof over it so it stays fairly dry
I’m thinking for city use a scooter would be most excellent, especially here in Florida. Unless I go to the grocery store or Petsmart (I take the dog), a scooter is all I really need. And the gas powered ones go fast enough to keep up with almost all city traffic.
I’d rather have electric but they are slower and have a limited range, although I don’t usually go that far.
My daughter always wore her helmet. She looked so cute! It was perfect for getting up and down the hills and for carrying her books and teaching supplies…..and she didn’t have the huge parking fees and constant struggle to find parking on a busy university campus.
holy moly margot — but there is no such thing as global climate change (/s) winter has finally arrived up here…. tillamook got 4 1/2 inches of snow this time last week and it looks like there is a decent shot of more this week
I’m doing quite well. Lots of family activity, etc. On Sat. I went to the first birthday of a nephew on my wife’s side. It was raining so everyone was inside, and it looked like we’re having a local population explosion. But, it was great being around all of those little kids.
As I wrote last nite to ET’s query: The only possible explanation I could see is the Godwin’s Rule, other than that, I’m just as puzzled as ya’ll are…!
I was disappointed at what happened to Alan’s youtube, had no knowledge of Calvan’s subsequent banning, and, was extremely disappointed at that toxic thread marsdragon had posted…! 8-(
But that is plain old gravity, what if there is forward force? Mind you, I’d wear a helmet.
I had that discussion with the spousal unit after I had seen some people riding a motorcycle with helmets with, what appeared to be, metal spikes on it, kinda like a Mohawk haircut but with spikes. Seemed kinda silly to me to wear a helmet with decorations that could well, impale into your brain.
Godwin’s rule is so iron-clad that I have difficulty understanding how a moderator could get so excited by a simple Nazi comparison in a 2009 statement by a ex-zionist MP to parliament. I said much harsher things in that same thread.
Isn’t it great to see the little ones! Gives me hope….and takes my mind off politics that I cannot fix. I’m taking my grandtwins, almost 4 years old, up to my dad’s house this weekend to plant the tomato plants he and I bought today (after I took him to his doctor appt. Dr. appts. are a great way for us to get together!) Dad loves to grow Jetsetter tomatoes. There was also a plant whose name I can’t pronounce that ET mentioned (or nonq?) this weekend. Dad hadn’t heard of it, either, but he was willing to give it a try.
The truth of the matter is, we don’t know what really happened. I, personally, suspect something happened that wasn’t visible and/or disappeared so fast no one saw it.
The very fact that that thread lives on is a testament to FDL being very open to consenting discussion.
jujube is almost walking… she’s so close — her mom had her first pt appt today and the therapist says she will be walking without crutches in 3 weeks… the race is on between who walks first – jen or the baby
When I’m around a bunch of little kids, I have difficulty hearing anything over the background noise. But, I can always get a big audience of kids by making coins disappear and other cheap magic tricks. That entertains both them and me. ;-)
The thread itself IMHO is much doo doo about nothing.
Like before, people come to this forum, think it’s theirs and co opt it. When the older regulars don’t fall in line with the new blood, FDL comes under fire and such.
Same old pattern, but this is not anywhere near the last great meltdown . . . forgot the dude’s name, but HE was epic in the melting. One of the best I’d ever seen . . . think it was about the time Rayne was near her term . . . good timehs!! *G*
Wishin you pain free mobility as soon as possible . . .
will do wigwam — thanks :) she wasn’t too sore tonight and i didn’t wanna let her know that the first visit is usually the easiest one since it is mainly an evaluation with some light stuff. when she goes back thursday, oy, i think she is not gonna be smiling when she gets home
See, though, if I recall, that was Rayne’s last stand. I could be wrong, but that sad meltdown kind of took her out, too. I kind of think that when a thread goes so awry, maybe it should be terminated or broken into smaller issues or something. The food fight going on (and apparently it’s still going on) gets real messy and some ugly stuff gets thrown and some who are maybe not so healthy can go over the edge. Not a good thing. For anyone.
My first impression of occupygaza was that it was a troll. Someone recently thought it was Leen reincarnated. I think that is an interesting take on things.
I exhausted all my call out weopons by comment 300 . . . Occupygaza was fun, sense of humor and all that . . . crazy as a loon, flip flopped all over, but fun.
Gaza and Palistineans will never get a fair shake from the diaries for the most part . . . SOME one is always gonna stir up the anti semite bullet . . . I tire of it all, frankly, it’s all been said, we know who bad guys are, why the planet’s messed up, we all get corporate fascism and 1% rule and tyranny, loss of rights, etc., loss of jobs, how it happened and is happening.
Further dialogue is useless with the opposition to my (likely your) personal beliefs anymore.
Us regulars pretty much seem to stand for the same things across the board . . . others come to disturb, many likely paid shills, others just too damned wounded in life and need an outlet, the intertoobz is their outlet.
I did go so far as to post a couple of comments, but it was such a zoo that I didn’t even follow up on the replies.
I remember the old days when any comment that contained the word “AIPAC” was automatically routed to moderation, where it was delay for ten minutes or so.
I can appreciate that, this one, indeed, likely had the mods gnashing . . . I sure fired off some stuff at neer do wellers that likely broke some rules, but hey, it was all in defense of FDL, n the regulars.
At some point, it’s all moot as it’s all been said before, to infinity.

On we trudge.

I don’t know that anyone is moderating this melee at all! It’s been going on for hours with no real purpose….except I kinda like tuezday’s observation that it proves that FDL is open to commenters of all persuasions.
I barely skimmed the thing and really cannot believe it. Ugly, really.
Yes, Rayne was gone soon after that, and I still miss her.
She was solid, a journalist’s journalist of an editor.
Regardless of what happened in the issue at hand those who seek to co opt Mz. Hamsher’s blogs for their own usage are usually dealt with accordingly, and The Villagers live on . . . ;-)
Without question! I’ve really learned a lot from everyone here. And the front page people are amazing. DDay is a fucking monster. He writes faster than I can read.
Ok, one last comment . . . thru all the clusterphuck (I maintain this was a deliberate attempt to co opt and besmirch FDL) n such, the hasbara too also was flowing freely . . . all too plain to see and get.
Meh. ;-)
Best to you and all yers hoss . . . thanks for the recent diary or two, I liked but did not comment . . .
Wait, are you saying you think marsdragon’s post was toxic? Or the comments. At 736 I had to skim and then give up if I wanted a life!
Marsdragon’s writing wasn’t toxic by any account, in my book.
I agree. Some of those ignoring the fact that as a paid member he was, as Reagan once quipped, “paying for” his “microphone”, seemed pretty toxic to me in flailing him for expressing his most sincere concerns about erratic moderation….
You and ET have been doing great stuff on the I/P front. I try to keep up but don’t have much to contribute.
I did however find a group called Alternate Focus in the San Diego area that make great documentaries on mideast stuff. One that I recently watched was an interview with Miko Peled, the sone of Israeli General and peace activist Matti Peled. It’s good stuff to show the public.
*heh* But, all Sheldon Adelson has to do his whip out his checkbook and write another $10 mil check…! He did pledge to spend $100 Mil on Newt, if need be…! ;-)
hi all. i’m falling asleep, but still awake after reading most of the comments at marsdragon’s query. heartrending what’s going on over there. like newtonusr, i refrained from commenting,
broke my wrist in a fall sunday night. my ribs and hip are pretty sore too. doing things with one hand isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!! cutting broccoli was a study in concentration this morning. i’m in asplint and doc says i’ll get a cast for two months next monday. i get to choose the color.
I had a job in the spring and summer of 1982, running a charter boat out of Whittier Alaska named The Wandering Star. The owner named it after that awful, awful song. The owner was the most dishonest boss I ever worked for. One result – I HATE THAT FUCKING SONG!!!
More whack-job, so called Roman Catholic Just-us’s who want to be more Conservative than the white protestants ever dared to be! Barry Obushma should shut them down, they’re way out of their territory.
RE: Cavlan — He and his entourage got banned from OpEdNews for pulling the same stunts of threadjacking, trolling and general unpleasantness that was driving off longtime participants.
They then formed a group called COTO, which itself splintered, apparently because they’re so combative they can’t get along with each other.
i’m sorry that my selection tonight brought back bad memories et… however, there is no way i wudda known about that association so really can’t be blamed
some days i can’t win for losing — this must be one of them
Not a fan of musicals, but this was epic, especially on the big screen.
Hi Suz!
hi Suz.
For some reason this has been on my mind lately.
Aloha, Suz…! Hope yer doing better…! *g*
hey newton — glad ya liked it… how was your day?
hey wmd — how ya doing toight? this one has been on my mind but is too depressing to feature
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? tomorrow will be 7 more weeks (at a minimum) to go… not quite at the half way point *sigh*
Excellent! A day-long paperwork binge – normally a dreary affair – and I’m caught up.
How’s the getting-around going?
Wonder what’s up with S&G?
Hey, Suz. How are you tonight? One of my fav songs – have it on my iPod.
same today as the day before… and the day before that… and the day before that
the monotony is a bitch dood — i’ve got a doc appt tomorrow afternoon that i’m looking forward to just for the chance to get outta the house. not an ortho visit — a new to me primary doc so i know i’m gonna get yelled at for a multitude of sins
i’ve not heard much about them… i did see that crosby, stills and nash will be doing a huge tour this summer
hey twain — how ya doing tonight? i think lee’s raspy voice is what makes this song so special… i forking loved paint your wagon when it came out.
the wife with two husbands appealed to my budding feminism — if a husband can have two wives…. loved that line in the movie. and the cinematography was fantastic
Danced for 90 minutes last Thursday to this band at the Fillmore.
No one gets to their ‘final destination’ and thinks to themselves, “I should have gone to the doctor’s office more often.”
At least, I keep telling myself that.
sweet! no pain?
i’ve not seen a kaiser primary doc since a couple years before i moved to oregon… i figure this one is really gonna yell at me and order all kinda tests
*sigh*
Nope. Just joy!
about fucking time!!! i’m so happy for ya dood *snoopy one legged happy dance*
Hi guys.
WMD glad to see you are back to your old self.
Suz, fess up, you have put weight on it.
Paul Simon is still touring…! ;-)
hey tuez — how’s florida tonight? i’ve been really good tuez – pinky swear
i don’t want this prolonged one day more than it has to be — and know if i put weight on my leg that i run a high risk of (1) pain and (2) adding time to the countdown clock
Hi all. Nice day on the coast…..sunny and crisp.
That’s my philosophy too, newt…! ;-)
but not with art :( i spose its just nostalgia for the good ole days (which were not all that good when ya think about it) that has me wishing and hoping
Love ol’ Lee Marvin.
Suz, I hope you have a hot time in the old town tomorrow…Lunch out, maybe. Totally hear you on how going to the doc can be a woo hoo thing to look forward to.
Florida is fine tonight. Perfect weather.
Does anyone know anything about scooters? I’m thinking about getting one.
I went to the doctor and said “Doc, it hurts when I do this.”
Doc said, “Don’t do that, at least not while horizontal.”
CTut!
wmd, how long has it been since your surgery? I have a friend who just had a hip replacement today. I want to be able to pass along some good news.
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? i’m looking at 3 to 6 inches of rain between now and thursday — unless of course, the rain becomes snow down here on the valley floor. huge snowstorm in the cascades
hey margot — glad ya like it. how’s ohio tonight?
I had resurfacing on December 7.
I bought a cute little used Honda scooter for my daughter when she was in grad school. She loved it! She then moved to snow country and sold it before she moved. But she really liked it…..convenient, relatively safe (in an area with lots of ‘em), and inexpensive., and easy to find parking.
Don’t you dare leave the house in icy/snowy weather.
Hi CT and Suzanne,
I’d be very interested to know what the hell happened on that I/P thread last night. Here is the thread in which the incident occurred:

A major food fight erupted over this matter at this thread today, and it now has 733 comments.
Can either of you shed light on what happened?
wear a helmet
We had a bit of rain over the weekend…..with snow up in the mountains. Then wind, wind and more wind. Today was our reward!
hey wigwam — i have no clue — i’ve not been a mod since may and tut has never been a mod
how ya doing tonight?
Just endured my ten-year physical….
Far as I can tell, that food fight is still going on. I suspect that it may be best to let the dust settle.
Do ya always talk to yourself…? (ducking…)
Anyways, speaking of Ohio, I think Christine is winging her way over here as I type…! ;-)
i’ve only left the house for doc appts since 2/4. the furtherest i get is sitting on the bench on the front porch which has a great roof over it so it stays fairly dry
Thanks wmd, I’m glad you got to dance tonight.
hey robert — how goes the house rebuild?
Well, hey, give her a big hug from us when you finally meet up with her. What fun!
I’m thinking for city use a scooter would be most excellent, especially here in Florida. Unless I go to the grocery store or Petsmart (I take the dog), a scooter is all I really need. And the gas powered ones go fast enough to keep up with almost all city traffic.
I’d rather have electric but they are slower and have a limited range, although I don’t usually go that far.
don’t make me get my glare out dood
I believe in helmets, although my husband told me recently they are only crash tested to 15 mph. If true…
It was about 82 degrees here today. We just missed spring and jumped right into summer, seems like.
Contractors supposedly 50 percent finished….
Get Ready.
My daughter always wore her helmet. She looked so cute! It was perfect for getting up and down the hills and for carrying her books and teaching supplies…..and she didn’t have the huge parking fees and constant struggle to find parking on a busy university campus.
helmets protect against about a 300G shock. Which occurs when you fall on your head from about 2 meters.
holy moly margot — but there is no such thing as global climate change (/s) winter has finally arrived up here…. tillamook got 4 1/2 inches of snow this time last week and it looks like there is a decent shot of more this week
i’ve always loved this song wmd — great video too!
Hi Suzanne,
I’m doing quite well. Lots of family activity, etc. On Sat. I went to the first birthday of a nephew on my wife’s side. It was raining so everyone was inside, and it looked like we’re having a local population explosion. But, it was great being around all of those little kids.

I was disappointed at what happened to Alan’s youtube, had no knowledge of Calvan’s subsequent banning, and, was extremely disappointed at that toxic thread marsdragon had posted…! 8-(
awwww those first birthdays are always such special ones. julianna’s is coming up on april 9th
All right!
delbert’s good but i’ve always loved emmylou’s cover
Still, toxic maybe, but I would like to know if Calvan picked up all his toys and left on his own, or he was pushed down the stairs….

Proud to say I got the 500 AND the 600 . . . Bet Suz is PROUD of me!
*G*
This one-year-old had only learned to walk in the past four weeks, since we last saw him. Damn, he please with himself at the capability of walking.
The truth of the matter is, we don’t know what really happened. I, personally, suspect something happened that wasn’t visible and/or disappeared so fast no one saw it.
The very fact that that thread lives on is a testament to FDL being very open to consenting discussion.
hey larue — how’s sac? i’ve not read that thread and have no intention of doing so but tis good ya got the double double dood
Lateral force is not what helmets are designed to protect from.
jujube is almost walking… she’s so close — her mom had her first pt appt today and the therapist says she will be walking without crutches in 3 weeks… the race is on between who walks first – jen or the baby
When I’m around a bunch of little kids, I have difficulty hearing anything over the background noise. But, I can always get a big audience of kids by making coins disappear and other cheap magic tricks. That entertains both them and me. ;-)
Time to change it up
Wish her good luck with the PT.
Like I said, 3 generations learning to walk at the same time.
Go jujube!!!
I bet she leaves you all in the dust.
Hit 399, too . . . missed by THIS much.
The thread itself IMHO is much doo doo about nothing.
Like before, people come to this forum, think it’s theirs and co opt it. When the older regulars don’t fall in line with the new blood, FDL comes under fire and such.

good night all.
I deleted three long comments I’d wrote…! No way did I want to contribute a single pixel to that morass…! 8-(
It was a real eye opener, tho…! Btw, why hasn’t anybody called out ‘occupygaza’ as the sock puppet/agent provacateur he/she is…?
will do wigwam — thanks :) she wasn’t too sore tonight and i didn’t wanna let her know that the first visit is usually the easiest one since it is mainly an evaluation with some light stuff. when she goes back thursday, oy, i think she is not gonna be smiling when she gets home
thanks dood — i gotta admit, i don’t miss those kinda threads at all… they were a real bitch to moderate
g’nite wmd
i sure as hell won’t be able to catch her… at least until the summer
Gaza and Palistineans will never get a fair shake from the diaries for the most part . . . SOME one is always gonna stir up the anti semite bullet . . . Us regulars pretty much seem to stand for the same things across the board . . . others come to disturb, many likely paid shills, others just too damned wounded in life and need an outlet, the intertoobz is their outlet.
Meh.
How’s you and yers, the family, and weather been?
I got you beat. By a mile.
Agreed on both points.
I did go so far as to post a couple of comments, but it was such a zoo that I didn’t even follow up on the replies.
I remember the old days when any comment that contained the word “AIPAC” was automatically routed to moderation, where it was delay for ten minutes or so.
Things have come a long way since then.

Love the who walks first thang goin on! Hope you all rise to the occasion in a timely and pain free fashion!
I don’t know that anyone is moderating this melee at all! It’s been going on for hours with no real purpose….except I kinda like tuezday’s observation that it proves that FDL is open to commenters of all persuasions.
I barely skimmed the thing and really cannot believe it. Ugly, really.
i know i’m outta the running… pun intended…
Indeed, freedoms we have are taken for granted by others newer to the forums.
All in all, still the best proggy forum of its sort in the blogs.
*G*
*groans*
myfdl comment moderation
bwa-hahahaha *blowing smoke from typing fingers*
Yes, Rayne was gone soon after that, and I still miss her.

You seemed fairly polite and acceptable, to me anyhoots . . . ;-) Others may have taken umbrage, who cares about them . . . lol
Indeed.
I did like the fact that my name was mentioned a few times as proof that FDL is indeed I/P tolerant…! But, not much else…! 8-(
I gotta make like a banana and split Pups, all y’all be well and prone to the rising at hand. *blowsonfingers*
LOL
*smoochestoall*
Yes, so polite that if you look, you will see that I did not in fact comment.
Were that not the case, we would be going until July.
g’nite larue
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 newton!!!
Ok, one last comment . . . thru all the clusterphuck (I maintain this was a deliberate attempt to co opt and besmirch FDL) n such, the hasbara too also was flowing freely . . . all too plain to see and get.
Meh. ;-)
Best to you and all yers hoss . . . thanks for the recent diary or two, I liked but did not comment . . .
Thought you had a few in there? Hmmm . . . I’m confusing screen names . . . my bad . . . n now, niters all.
Dang Suz… The Pineapple Express is barreling into Oregon, eh…? ;-)
How about them Bears?
Wait, are you saying you think marsdragon’s post was toxic? Or the comments. At 736 I had to skim and then give up if I wanted a life!
Marsdragon’s writing wasn’t toxic by any account, in my book.
Oh gawd, and it was a reply to Larue.
Do I win a prize or a black eye? :-)
oooh, I love bears! They are so cute!
Pleasant dreams, Larue…! Give the missus a hug or two…!
Fuckin’A!
yup.. as i said upthread 3 to 6 inches of rain between now and thursday unless it turns to snow on the valley floor
crowing rights dood
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
I agree. Some of those ignoring the fact that as a paid member he was, as Reagan once quipped, “paying for” his “microphone”, seemed pretty toxic to me in flailing him for expressing his most sincere concerns about erratic moderation….

Aloha, open…! Primarily the comments and some of his assertions in the diary…! Can we now drop the subject and move on, pretty please…? ;-)
A tiny, lonesome tear trickles down my cheek, lands on my silk tie, and is absorbed…
Next!
hahahahaha
my pain pill is kickin in so i best be headed out…. please don’t let my going horizontal kill the thread
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
g’nite all
nite suz
*heh* But, all Sheldon Adelson has to do his whip out his checkbook and write another $10 mil check…! He did pledge to spend $100 Mil on Newt, if need be…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…! *g*
Sorry, I’m new to the conversation. I’ve got nothing but dying curiosity to drop. And I will. Because . :)
Good night, Suzanne.
Sorry for the long boredom. It totally sucks.
It’s time for me to crash out too.
G’nite, all.
hi all. i’m falling asleep, but still awake after reading most of the comments at marsdragon’s query. heartrending what’s going on over there. like newtonusr, i refrained from commenting,

Pleasant dreams, wigwam…!
Oh noes, gw, my condolences…! *g*
What color are ya gonna pick…?
as he said turquoise was not an option, i’m leaning towards pink.
got to go to sleep…..
gnite luvlies.
Sweet dreams, gw, and all…! *g*

More whack-job, so called Roman Catholic Just-us’s who want to be more Conservative than the white protestants ever dared to be! Barry Obushma should shut them down, they’re way out of their territory.
Hey, Ed, tell us how you really feel!
