What’s on your mind?
RC came home about 40 minutes ago.
Aloha, Suz…! How’s the leg…? *g*
what leg? Suze, is something wrong with your leg?
hey wmd — woohoo — that’s such good news!!! i hope he is not any worse for wear… bet you are so relieved!
Not nice, BFL. Bein’ a wise ass. Another day in the books. Anotehr day of progress and another day closer to normalcy, right?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? i had a good doctor report today — have to go back in 3 weeks. given the ok for more range of motion and some exercises to do to prevent more muscle loss. down to a minimum of 8 more weeks of bedrest and no weight bearing — 1/3rd of the way through the predicted minimum of 12 weeks
night. carry on, suze!
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight? dood, i broke my knee and my ankle and had to have surgery
*heh* Define ‘Normal’, BFL…! ;-)
you trying to get me to take out The LQQK before we even it 10 comments??? *laughing*
g’nite bfl — just remember what they say about payback *wicked evil laugh*
Yay! Yes I’m relieved. I’d knocked on doors after work asking about him – showed a picture and neighbors knew him and liked him… asked about the missing fur from his abscess treatment. A few said they saw him yesterday.
he came up to the door and meowed , coming up on an hour ago – about 60 hours since he went out Monday morning. Asleep now I’m sure, and happy to be in out of the deluge.
Sounds promising, M’dear…! *g*
those long 4 days that bailey cat was gone i had my heart in my throat — so worried. it was a heavy deluge that caused her to come home too — so each time she does the foot bail thing (there is a reason her name is bailey) for more than overnight, i want lotsa rain so i don’t have to worry about her.
…happy to be in out of the deluge.
*heh* So it did literally rain ‘cats and dogs’, eh…? ;-)
Since my cat can’t seem to go more than 4 hours without food, I don’t have to worry about her taking off. I used to wonder when she would wander off and not return, but, alas, she always does. After 5 years I’ve accepted the fact I ain’t getting rid of the cat.
still have do the hospital bed thing but… progress. they opened up my brace to 60 degrees of permitted movement (instead of the 30) and showed me how to open it more. said when i come back in 3 weeks, he wants me at 90 degrees of bend.
on the down side, i’m about 10 to 12 degrees away from all the way straight in the knee so gotta work on that. its a lot harder to get all the way straight than it is to regain bend in the knee. a LOT harder. i remember it all to well with my fake knee.
and he felt it necessary to remind me of just how bad the injury was and how dr toal ‘valiently’ tried to fix it but there is a lotta bone powder and crumbles still in there and…. that in a couple years i’m very likely to need a knee replacement on that knee. i’ve decided that i’m just gonna ignore that comment and not worry about something that could happen a couple years down the road
saw an orthopedist doctor today instead of my usual orthopedic p.a.
Keep up the great work Suz… You WILL heal before ya know it!! Of course in the mean time you will have to suffer all the love you are getting from family and many many friends……
hey tuez — how ya doing tonight? bailey cat is a rescued feral (as a kitten) and is not a people cat — she’s real skittish around folks other than me and usually bails out the back door until they leave.
hey nahant — thanks. how’s your bug?
Neighbors also said they feed ferals and any cat that comes…
It just might be breaking up… At least I sure hope so.. Things are loosening up in the lungs and sinuses I think… Only day 2 of the antibiotics… J is still hacking now going on 3 weeks…. this is one nasty bug that has come around the Bay area….
I’m doing okay Suz and I’m glad to hear your good news.
In regard to you possible future knee replacement, if it is due to lack of cartilage, they are replacing that now with stem cells. Maybe by the time you need it, it will be available in this country.
My husband “rescued” our cat off the streets as a kitten thinking one of his cat lovin’ sisters would take her. Five years later, I’m still stuck with her. She didn’t get the memo I’m not a cat person. Lucky for her I am a humanitarian.
yay and boo hiss boo — i recall those nasty bay area bugs — nasty is too nice of a word for what those forkers do — and they hang around way too long. another reason to like oregon (knocking on wood – just in case)
…that in a couple years i’m very likely to need a knee replacement on that knee.
That totally bites…! Maybe tho, by then, if one’s gonna go Bionic, they can do a complete body replacement, and be done with it already…! ;-)
I have a neighbor who will take in about any cat that shows up. He has them spayed/neutered then keeps them around as outside cats. Another seems to be a hoarder with no common sense when it comes to properly keeping pets.
its because the top of the tibia bone was crushed although when the femur came through the knee joint it destroyed the cartilage in that area of the knee — today he was talking about the little bits still in there – made it sound as if i’m gonna have lotsa trouble in the future with those little bits of bone
Knocking on wood right along with ya… Sheesh this one sure has kicked my ass… Got all my shots for the season but…. All those grem factories that J and A are exposed to just make it like Russian Roulette@! #%&$%(#$^%^&^&%^* fuch…
— today he was talking about the little bits still in there –
It’ll grind and rub at what cartilage remains…! 8-(
Came here to see if Suzanne’s knee is okay. Happy to know that has been progress.
So Today I had a dilima. Do I go to see one of those talk radio hosts who I helped defund speak at a university or do I keep an appointment? I decided to keep the appointment, although the idea of calling him on his BS in a venue he didn’t control was tempting. I decided to tell the people attending what he was about, but I didn’t get the info to them soon enough. I found out that twitter handles rarely have full names!
On one hand My work is going on and to address him is going backwards, but I just wanted people to know how bad he is.
And my now flaming bunions…
That’s what I’m getting at, stems cells are now being used to repair the cartilage. I only heard about it a few months ago and haven’t actually researched it but I trust the sources.
like bone spurs on steriods i think :( oh well… thats the future and outta my hands… i’m gonna just not think about it until i get on my feet again and what’s what.
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight? how did the appt go? did you regret your decision to not go to the speech?
At least in Hilo you can walk barefoot in the sand and if it’s like Florida, barefoot just about anywhere.
ce! how’s cleveland tonight? how many more days until ya fly to paradise?
Gotta go, but great to see ya back and tall in the saddle Suz.
Best to you and the daughters and dayum heal fast, my clicky pal.
They are making great strides in Stem Cell research, but, it’s still prohibitively expensive, and, most Health Insurance companies still deem it as ‘experimental’…! 8-(
*heh* Maybe the Saltwater baths will alleviate them for ya, M’dear…? ;-)
hi and g’nite larue — thanks dood :) hope you are not getting too much rain in sac
I think stem cell research needs better PR. So many advances are just not known to people who don’t pay attention and even then you have to seek it out. Of course, there is the faction that equates all stem cell research with embryonic and we get the stupid.
All the local Stores feature prominently signs stating: ‘No Shirt, No Slippahs, No Service’…! ;-)
devil take my soul
I figure one of the two is enough.
It is loosely enforced, tuez…! ;-)
cute how they say slippahs instead of shoes dood
If you said ‘slippers’ to a local, hard ‘r’, they’d say ‘wha…?’ ;-)
aint nothing but the blues
ha! kinda like trying to order ice tea that isn’t sweet tea when down in the south
Yes, south of the mason/dixon line you have to specify if you want unsweet.
another foot recording singer — iirc son of dave was doing it before kt was
Suz, is Steph still with you, or has she been able to go home?
she’s still here — probably going home in mid april — jen starts pt next week and we are hoping she will be able to take care of julianna by then
*heh* I happen to like that Southern ‘Iced Tea’…! Right alongside some ‘cheesy’ Grits…! ;-)
She must have the patience of a saint.
You and Jen need to scrape up some pennies and send her on a cruise, or to see Tut, when it’s all over.
and now for something completely different
I’m elitist and damn proud of it. I don’t like sweet tea, don’t do grits and catfish isn’t even an option.
Although gator ain’t bad.
no kidding… she’s in serious need of a vacation :) taking care of two non-weight bearing adults and a baby is forking hard work. she’s been such a trooper and i am so thankful she is here and doing such a good job
The appt went okay new therapist. Nice, but I’ve got a black belt in negative thinking.
Reading the news often sends me over the cliff. Today it was about crazy rents and we have to move :-(
I really don’t want to, we can’t afford to buy and because the Facebook millionaires to be are Driving up prices.
We are alway in the wrong place at the wrong time.
*heh* Tastes just like Chicken, eh…? ;-)
i gotta move too — not my choice but it is what it is. gonna look for an affordable ground floor unit closer to portland — i was around 75 miles away and it looks like this is going to be a long rehab. with the price of gas and all — don’t wanna be making a 2 hour drive each way to go to pt etc. makes more sense for me to be closer — and its gonna be mandatory that i be on the first floor — stairs are not to be a part of my future
*heh* Tastes just like Chicken, eh…? ;-)
Actually it does. Gator doesn’t really have any profound flavor; not gamy at all (I don’t do gamy either). It’s rather chewy at too.
Did I regret not going? Just a little, but Mrs. Spocko was glad I didn’t go. If I’m going to get in a conflict with someone
I want to use the conflict to drive home a point. So, for example, when I asked to leave the Jeb Bush Ed forum I was able to turn that into a story about the greedy corps in education deform.
My question to Murdoch led to Stories about the advertisers leaving Beck and the costs.
this story might have led to a story about my role is advertiser actions against talk radio hosts, or it could backfire.
By the way
Http://www.lftlc.com has a link to my podcast talking about the strategies and techniques behind my work.
One of my best interviews. Angie Corio was the host.
sweet spocko — i’ve give it a listen later… love that pic of ya dood :)
:-( mrs. Spocko had two broken feet. Six months of no stairs. She had to scoot down them on her butt.
I did it all. Cook, clean, shop laundry, and wash her hair(my favorite part)
But she can walk again. I still do most of the cooking, shopping and laundry but she does the dishes.
Until the MERS chain of title mess is cleared up, don’t worry about buying. I wouldn’t consider buying a house right now due to that. I bought my first house at 23 and sold my last one 5 years ago, when we moved to Orlando. We’ve rented since waiting for both prices to stabilize (too old to be underwater by even 10k) and title issues to be fixed. I haven’t looked, but it’s possible I still technically own my last house. Meaning, I could go in and take it, thanks to MERS not properly doing the paperwork (from both the bank and current owner).
Actually it does…
I know, I’ve ate it too…! ;-)
Do you teach husbanding courses?
If I broke both feet, we’d starve and the house would be condemned.
ouch! i learned how to scoot up and down the stairs when the pt lady came monday — i was able to take a real shower that afternoon instead of the baby wipe sponge baths i had been doing in the half bath downstairs. forking hard work to scoot up and down the stairs!
you’ve not shared any of your recent cooking adventures… i’m just saying…
I’ve ate most meats served to Man, usually had no clue at the time, but, that’s a whole ‘nother story…! ;-)
mike’s been doing a lotta the evening meal cooking — a good cook but i think jen picks the menu and has him follow her recipes… tonight steph cooked and made a great forking meat loaf, roast brocolli and smashed potatos. one good thing about having a broken leg is that i am no longer eating my cooking — i was so tired of the taste of my food — tis a real treat to be eating other peoples cooking….
Mike sounds like a great guy.
Funny you’re tired of your own cooking. My motto is, I cook for me, not for thee, but if thee likes it, so much the better.
i’ve been eating my cooking pretty much all of my adult life. i’ve been a solo since 2004ish and am sick and tired of cooking for just me. it totally had a bad impact on my cooking – i used to be a good cook back when i had someone to cook for — once that last little bird left the nest…
sorry to be fading early but its been a long day and it has caught up with me. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
All my best ‘work’ is done in satisfying my taste buds, but, the Better Half then sez all her weight gain is my fault…! A ‘No Win’ situation, I tells ya…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…! Best healing vibes headed in your direction…! *g*
Fortunately, I’m too lazy to cook, more than once or twice a week, or I’d be the size of a house.
Yes, do teach husbanding courses!
I found I understand my mom better now, getting bored of your own cooking is a problem.
I decided at 19′ I wasn’t going to be one of those helpless men. You hear about. I learned to sew, cook and do laundry and clean. I still have problems with clutter though.
Results are mixed – promising. I did a lot of research prior to my hip resurfacing, and it isn’t clear that the cartilage that grows back will last – 2 years later some patients need replacement.
