If you go by his advertisers this week, Rush has exactly one paid sponsor left who has not requested to be pulled. His entire show yesterday was basically PSA “sponsored”. It’ll likely be worse today.

I think advertisers who are sticking are keeping a low profile, hoping that this blows over.

Rush is losing advertisers, but he’s not losing audience. Eventually, his price per minute will be low enough that it’ll be tough to resist. Worse, if we DO manage to get him off the air that means that a Rush II will come from somewhere to fill the vaccuum.

Actually, there was an interesting article about advertisers spurning controversy, that the pool for much of talk radio is getting smaller and smaller. Despite the ratings, the possibility of being tainted by the program (any of them) is getting too great. And how this was beginning to really concern program managers. See they need the ratings but without advertisers it doesn’t friggin’ matter.

Another pointed out that Rush’s show is becoming a pain for the stations themselves as advertisers have made it clear that while they are willing to advertise on the station their ads can NEVER be just before, during or just after Rush’s show. This has grown so now they have to keep pool ads separate (my paraphrase) or risk losing a station advertiser.

This is not the case of a few french fries. As the article that talks about the 14,000 advertisers mostly local points out none of those local advertisers’ fees go to Rush or more importantly his syndicator. IOW, it doesn’t pay their bills, including Rush’s astronomical salary. As with much of the conservative twaddle on the surface it sounds good, but once you start looking the idea/story stinks like a load fresh ripe manure.

Let me perfectly clear here – there is no left/liberal or even libertarian equivalent to the sliming of a private person ever. And there is certainly no comparison in the apologies.
