Well, lookie here, we have yet another middle aged white Republican, male naturally, Roy Blunt, telling us his bill to let employers say what medical coverage their “religion” allows them to pay for is not about lady parts.
Our bill protects health care providers and insurers from being forced to violate their principles to provide products and services under the new health care law, and it ensures that all Americans are protected against discrimination, penalty or exclusion from the health care market for exercising their rights of conscience and following religious beliefs.
Of course if you are a woman, it means you are discriminated against. I guess excluding just over half the population is the kind of discrimination that doesn’t matter so much.
It should be noted as well that Blunt starts out his statement with this:
This weekend, millions of church-going Catholics in St. Louis and across America will hear or read a letter from their bishop making clear that the Obama Administration’s Feb. 10 announcement does nothing to change the serious threat to religious liberty created by new government mandates in health care.
Oh those Catholic Bishops, such a fine record and so much understanding of the whole sex thing. Take for example one of their long-time leaders — a real critic of contraception throughout his career.
Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua ordered aides to shred a 1994 memo that identified 35 Archdiocese of Philadelphia priests suspected of sexually abusing children, according to a new court filing.
I believe there’s a place I’d politely tell these folks to place their consciences. Fortunately, it will not require a contraceptive…a suppository on the other hand.

I can’t wait for all this drama and hatred to boomerang on them.
They just can’t move beyond the hatred for a group, skin color, or gender. I guess they want the entire country to become Catholic now since our laws will be Catholic law.
Freedom to get sick and die is precious to all us Merkin patriots.
Their consciences have already been placed in that part of someone else’s anatomy.
The confusion with breeding is common to the species, as it’s where they do their thinking.
Good morning, pups. Prof. Krugman is in Lisbon, and has the stage to himself. He has a question: “What Ails Europe?” He says the two common explanations — call it the Republican narrative and the German narrative — are just wrong.
Here he is.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. Matt Taibbi had a piece on the Arizona debate in which he said:
It’s worth reading. Have as good a day as you can, given that it’s Monday.
Good One!
I take it that their thinking apparatus will soon become as useless as their legislation.
Good morning all.
If alter boys could become pregnant these perverts would be humming a different tune.
Thanks, it started off useless, that’s a large part of their troubles. And their wives don’t want to get together with them, if VA legislature floor talk is any indication.
shooter 242….I’ll save him the time of coming onto this thread….
“The government has no right to tell the Catholic Church what they should insure. If you want something that bad pay for it yourself or go find a job that has the health care you desire. Thank a rich person for your paycheck as they pay an unfair portion of the nation’s taxes.”
How much do you think we could make on male chastity belts?
I believe you have that backwards. The Catholic Church should not tell America what it should or should not insure. Employees already pay for it. Rich people should thank the workers for their paychecks as they take the biggest part of the profit from the labor.
It’s what they’ve always wanted. They miss the dark ages, when they could just burn anyone who displeased them.
Boxturtle (Kinda makes you worry about the Alter Boys during the dark Ages)
Left out; that public service thing is so 1600′s.
Don’t assume that. The GOPers have an issue to excite their base and they feel they have Obama on the ropes. They’ll keep pushing this.
Boxturtle (I suspect yet another “compromise” from the White House)
Yes, they were cruel and barbaric then too! ;-)
Wish we had a chastity belt for those young Catholic boys.
Wow. I had to go check your user infor to see if you were a shooter sockpuppet!
Boxturtle (though I guess it isn’t that difficult to predict shooters posts)
Hey, I know!
Maybe they can do that thing they did with their daughters, that vow of chastity prom thing, for their sons too!
The Star Trek belt that has Kirk’s effegy on the buckle is about $30.
Boxturtle (Should keep any male and most females from geting a date)
Group think is such a precious thing! (not)
The American people will never tolerate the loss of reproductive freedom, so in the real world there is actually no threat to the access to abortion or contraceptives.
Yet that same culture of “get the government out of my bedroom” dovetails with “get the government out of my religion”.
I guess “progressives” are so butt hurt that they couldn’t force the Catholic church to distribute birth control that we will see a couple of months worth of wailing and gnashing of teeth until all the butt hurt is gone.
There is nothing going on here except the usual culture war distraction that amount to a whole lot of nuthin’.
No, No. They can’t have Star Wars cause they take it to the extreme in a fantasy world of war. Everything is a war to them. It is the modern day version of Gladiators. That is the way they prove themselves as worthy and manly.
It has nothing at all to do with what one normally thinks of a fine, upstanding man.
Think Enron and how Star Wars in their operating rules ruined people.
Do your homework. Then come back. That one statement completely destroys your credibility on the subject.
In the entire state of Kansis, there are 3 clinics that provide the service. And the government attempted to close one of them on a ginned up licensing issue.
And that’s just Kansis.
Boxturtle (fortunately for you, education is still free and available)
Good Monday morning, everyone.
Thank you, Attaturk, for starting our mornings off … on subjects that deserve attention, consideration … and thoughtful action.
Do you mean 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Ruth?
I ask, as rumors have begun to circulate that Chelsea, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, those paragons of civic virtue and public nobility, is thinking of running for Congress …
Shall we assume the “position” … and thank our lucky stars, as is done whenever another Kennedy announces their desire to “serve”?
I realize, of course, that it is not polite nor politic to raise such questions … and yet, does anyone not feel the merest qualm when it is assumed that a “name” connotes “competence” and an alignment with the 99%, a hereditary “excellence”?
I do apologize for mentioning this on a thread dedicated to Republicans, who are odious, beyond compare, well, a “bit” more odious … and therein … lies … “the essential difference”.
DW
Actually not. Here’s another heritage name; Booosh. (runs screaming for exits)
Thinking about the current occupants of most of the congressional seats, I think CHelsea could do as well of better than the current occupant.
Certainly, if she wanted Austria’s or Boehner’s seat, I’d support her.
Boxturtle (If she was old enough, I’d support her for president over all the current candidates)
Thank you for bringing that Clinton news to my attention. I have only seen the same on the other side of the tracks with pulling in a Jeb.
Yes, I think the public has had enough of royal lineage so to speak. Surely, they are not going to try to pass off the crown again!
So one man’s failings should negate religious belief? Are you sure you want to make an issue of that? Should the failures of climategate invalidate the religion of global warming? Apparently so.
Works for me.
I may say goodnight soon. I’ve been up all night with the Wikileaks dump and have been anticipating the second batch which hasn’t come yet.
With all the problems in the world–war, poverty, etc.–the Catholic Church has made micromanaging peoples’ sex lives their number-one priority. There’s a word for that: sick.
I ask, as rumors have begun to circulate that Chelsea, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, those paragons of civic virtue and public nobility, is thinking of running for Congress …
Proving once again that one of the most important keys to success in 21st-century America is to choose the right parents.
It’s about the revenue bottom line. No paid forgiveness for debts, war and lack of jobs.
Ah. CBS This Morning will be showing the Police Departments newest toy to attact Americans with.
Hey, Rmoney is a self-made gazillionaire, nothing to do with being set up for life by Dad.
Should iIbe watching MyFDL for a post from you on the subject?
Boxturtle (Gonna be lazy this time, let others dig through the dump)
Re: Krugman
He leaves out the most important distinction between Sweden and Greece. One country pays very high taxes, the other pays nearly no taxes at all. National character counts for a lot.
Actually, you can read my print at the Dissenter. You will laugh and be appalled at the same time.
Word was that the second batch to come would be about Golden Sacs, but as I stayed and waited it has not shown itself yet.
So, you’re for higher taxes?
AH, so. I’ll wander over there later and see what you have to say.
Boxturtle (Glad you told me, I wouldn’t have looked for it there)
Who whee! I am compounding those national character assets and what they might be.
I helped Kevin with the blog as they were being released.
Oh, fer gawd’s sake, don’t feed it. It only encourages it to hang around and fling poo at the walls.
Sorry.
It is characterful, econobuzz, if accompanied by appropriate bitching and “fairness” …
Inner coherency.
The world IS … as we find it. Now, grow up! And go along … quietly, and with a certain lively “step”.
DW
Marion, you are funny in the morning and I could not agree more with your assessment.
We’re just fattening him up for Southern Dragon. :-)
Boxturtle (Trolls aren’t bad, when taken with a grain or two of salt…)
A religious belief is an interior structure as are all beliefs. No one’s religious belief’s are negated. If my religious belief or anyone’s religious belief is not to use contraception, every single person in America regardless of what is covered by an insurance can live to that belief 100 percent. Global warming however, is not a religious belief. It is a pure and simple fact. If you want to argue that it is a man-made thing or the man made influence is minimal that is a legitimate point to argue or discuss. What you said is pure nonsense however.
You seem to lack critical thinking skills.
You are right and besides it causes me to run amuck.
America is better than this and Should do better than this!
shooters reply…yes, for the poor who contribute nothing. The rich pay all the taxes or way too high a percentage. WE need to just thank rich people.
Well Hillary Clinton DID tell us to, “Thank God for the rich.”
It is, really, quite bipartisan, and 2fer2 is on the cutting edge … scrambler.
;~DW
Yes, of course, because the Catholic sex abuse scandal was localized entirely within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. I thought of four other bishops who were involved in the scandal in less than five seconds (Law, Egan, Mahoney, and Kelly), but I must be imagining things because I’m out to get the Church. I’ll try to unremember them.
Well, hit man 484 divided by 2, I only have time to be your troll once a week. I want to ask you if you will be my rich donor and just thank you in advance for that. Good luck with your further typing exercises.
Don’t think that will happen. Like Caroline Kennedy, Chelsea is well put together but has no charisma.
Whether she wins or not is not, precisely, the issue.
The “assumption” that she is worthy, precludes the likely opportunity of someone who might be, actually, of more substance, as opposed to mere “charisma” … by soaking up the limelight and the majority of financial “support”. It is the continuation of the myth of “excellence” and “breeding” which make mock of democracy, sonofthedude.
I have no especial animosity toward young Chelsea, simply no knee-jerk respect or fawning desire to see “legacy” candidates of any stripe, Bush, Romney, Kennedy, or Clinton be touted as “special” or “deserving” of office on the simple basis of a name and the money which, inevitably, accompanies such “specialness” …
DW
We need to keep saying it loud and simply. The Republicans want a theocracy- the only difference that would separate us from places where they follow sharia law and have religious clerics determining law would be our religious clerics would be bishops and instead of Sharia law, we’d be going all biblical.
“It is the continuation of the myth of “excellence” and “breeding” which make mock of democracy, sonofthedude.”
Thanks for that but it wasn’t necessary, I grew up in Massachusetts and although Ted Kennedy was a good Senator family dynasties in politics have always troubled me. I take it for granted that this unfortunate phenomenon will continue, at this point I’m more interested in how it may or may not manifest itself.

sorry for the double post
