Amy had her 14 week check up today and the baby is doing fine. She has another test in a week or so for genetic issues. Sara is due in six weeks. Her doctor said she was having a near perfect pregnancy. Babies!

there’s a lot of frustration floating around re the political morass. I drop in and out of FDL all day. This morning was loving and warm…..Demi put up a fine intro at PUAC and the discussion was warm and nurturing. But, yes, there was a vinegary flavor to LN tonight. The recent (and ongoing) assault on women (and women’s health) is terribly distressing……maybe especially for some of us who did our turn in the late sixties/early seventies in support of the women’s movement. Very disheartening to see the ease with which a Darrell Issa can dismiss us.

Nothing like that. Just frustration. There has been some scolding going on now and then by various communicants……I’m not sure why. I, for one, would like it to simmer down. But, hey, people do what they do. It is as it is. The assault on women recently by politicians has been disconcerting…. for sure! For me, the support from the FDL crowd has been wonderful. Perhaps others have not felt as strongly.

Funny what happened to me today— sent my sis-in-law an e-mail. we’ve been out of touch. both been busy. we have similar political views, told her “gee, i don’t think i have a dog in this fight.” i got back the longest e-mail 9by far) i have ever received. she told me she left mass two weeks ago literally shaking she was so angry at what she heard–write letters to the prez and congresspeople was just the beginning. and you know, i don’t have the stake it it as a woman does, but the bill or bills that would allow an emploiyer to opt out of a law by claiming the law violates its conscience is frightening. and my catholic bvrothers and sisters-some of them-need to stop being such assholes. but this is LLN so i better lighten up.

It’s a wondrous experience to guide a child through the tears, to encourage them to not stop– to not quit on their own fine self, to be there to hold them if they want that or to merely laugh with them when they get to that other side…..when they can begin to imagine that the light at the end of the tunnel is NOT an oncoming train. And to get paid to do that…just wow. I miss those kids! Best job I ever had.

The assault has been on freedom-loving citizens by a president who believes he is entitled to mandate

that someone is foolish enough to sacrifice personal freedom for $4/month birth control pills defies
reason. The “food police” are already confiscating lunches that don’t meet federal guidelines from 4 year olds. How long before salt, sugar, tobacco, alcohol, exercise, etc. will fall under federal mandates?
FYI. There is no Constitutional right for “free” contraceptives. Access is readily available regardless of
who pays. Toothpaste is a necessary health product but no one expects the government to pay for it.
Wake Up before you turn over your personal choices to a chronically incompetent government. There
