In “Flood the Zone” he babbles that President Obama should return to his community-organizing roots and remember the importance of leveraging diversity to solve problems. It’s word salad, actually… Mr. Cohen seems to not be a fan of American feetsball. In “The Puzzle of Two Footballs” he says American football is a staccato, violent, over-plotted travesty bereft of flow. Don’t hold back, Roger. Tell us how you feel… Mr. Nocera addresses the “Poisoned Politics of Keystone XL” and says Canada moves on to China after getting the cold shoulder from the United States. In “Java and Justice” Mr. Bruni says to see the future of same-sex marriage, look to savvy companies.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got a variety of bagels with cream cheese. I’m going to leave and get another cup of tea. Discussions of back alleys and coat hangers as a policy goal tend to make me irrational with fury. (But of course Mrs. Santorum could make a choice…) GRRRRRR. Have a great day.

On a not altogether unrelated note, sex education in red states is much less effective than in more liberal ones. I guess the science was right after all and focusing on abstinence is just stupid.

Thanks for that. Good lord I’m tired of conservatives wringing their hands and clutching their pearls over Keystone and China. People like Nocera never point out to their readers that the oil produced was already destined for China and that China and Canada do not share a border, so unless they think they could make it economical to refine it in place or to ship vast amounts of tarry sand in ships’ holds, (and obviously it is not because otherwise they wouldn’t want the pipeline so badly), then the fear China crowd has no basis for their complaints.

I’m not shocked. I think the parents in those states miss the old days when you got Sex Ed by watching the hogs.

They do. But just like back when abortion was illegal in many states, well off daughters have options and access. They could just spirit them away into a state or country that allows the procedure and then come home after a visit with “grandma”.

Even today, those who legally perform abortions are at the bottom of the pecking order in the medical world. It may be legal, but it isn’t respected (and rightly so). In fact, many of those physicians who are working as abortionists can’t hold a position anywhere else. A significant portion of them are incompetent hacks.
