Buenos dias. (I don’t know how to say “Good morning” in moonspeak.)
Scarecrow notes – NBC certainly has an all star line up. They’re all set for a discussion of the housing crisis, featuring a man who doesn’t know how many homes he owns and a paid shill for reverse mortgages.
Teddy observed – Wasserman Shultz checks so many boxes! Democrat, lady, Jew, Floridian, party chair, cancer survivor, friend of Gabby, mom. All the bookers need is for one of the shows to have her on. Then all bases are covered. With one guest! And, in fact, that’s exactly what they did.
Peterr points out – CBS: “Also Dave Barry” Finally, CBS has an analyst whose gifts match the guests on the show. Who better to comment on Bachmann, Trump, and the Occupants of the GOP Clown Car? On the other hand, I could see how someone would say “Aren’t there enough comedians on the show already? Why add one more?” Meanwhile, on NBC, “If it’s Sunday, it’s . . . John McCain.” Why don’t they simply let him host the show?
There’s a lot here that is worth your while.

About Firedoglake
What this election will be about is: Romney (the Super Rich & Greed) vs. the people (Pres. Obama)!
America is at a “fork in the road”! Will we continue to let greed and selfishness rule us or will we go back the principles we were founded on — that of sharing and opportunity for everyone and just not the special few! There is nothing inherently wrong with being rich as Long as you don’t hinder others from achieving and having the same opportunities you have and/or as long as you dont hide your assets so you don’t have to pay your fair share to the common good and liftup your fellowmen. And yes, we need a strong Democratic House & Senate to help get the good passed and implemented once again!
Good morning all,
It’s the rich against the 99% with no one for the people.
o’s tax cuts says what side he’s on.
Feel like the fork is being shoved where the sun don’t shine by all those running, D & R.
Leave it to Newtie to give space exploration a bad name with his shameless pander.
When did Barack Obama start representing “the people”? Cause I don’t remember that. In case it’s escaped your attention, Obama had a strong Democratic majority in both Houses of Congress and yet all he could pass was the Heritage Foundation’s
health careInsurance company and Pharma welfare plan. That surrender led directly to Republicans taking over the House and almost the Senate in 2010 because his base stayed home in droves.Good morning all.
Panetta is the first name under the Religion & Ethics category. Which does he represent.
We haz a little Obot so early in the morning.
So Allen West will be on CBS’ Face the Nation, eh? The same guy who said “Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America,”
Obviously, CBS wouldn’t DREAM of kicking West off of their show because he’s a complete SOB, oh noes, obviously, CBS will probably just glide over this disagreeable statement very quickly and do its best to make nice to the guy. $#%@ “liberal media”!!! %$%^#@
Now, would that be fair and balanced? Never mind. Would that be pandering to the rich, corporate assholes that rule the world?
Not a single current Democratic senator in these lineups.
Was no one invited, or were they all too busy shaking down corporate contributors?
Now, now, let’s not go there. The networks are very responsible and scrupulously give us ALL points of view: Right, far right and extreme right.
Thanks for the post Elliott.
Can’t help but notice the “panel” on Press the Meat is beyond pathetic to the point of “What The Fuck?”
Good morning, freedom lovers. Margaret, you said it, so I don’t have to. “g”
Morning Old ‘n All: Why does Ms Brazile continue to have any cred at all? She’s on almost as often as McC…
Yeah I was thinking that Gregory must be the go to guy for people who didn’t get invited onto other shows. But take a look at “This Weak”. WTF? Were Rush Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch busy?
And when did hate-spewer Laura Ingraham become a member of polite Beltway society?
Wait, I don’t want to know the answer to that.
Thanks, I had missed her…the counterpart to Scarbrough, I guess. She is mean-girl imho. And wildly self-righteous…
Good morning, pups. Today we’ve got The Pasty Little Putz, Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Bruni. The Putz has a stab at addressing “Government and It’s Rivals.” He gurgles that the power of the state can crowd out other forms of community. Did you realize that, according to him “Every tax dollar the government takes is a dollar that can’t go to charities and churches.” What a buffoon. In “Tension on the Tarmac” MoDo has a question: What is it about runways that brings out the fire in our cool president? The Moustache of Wisdom, in “Made in the World,” says there is a big gap in how C.E.O.’s and political leaders look at the world. Mr. Kristof, in “What’s He Got to Hide?,” says Ethiopia brutally imprisons journalists who champion free speech and an end to human rights abuses. That repression is only inviting more scrutiny. Mr. Bruni says “Genetic or Not, Gay Won’t Go Away.” He says while Cynthia Nixon’s critics have good reason to worry about how her words will be construed, they have no right to demand silence and conformity from her.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah and a hint of cinnamon, with either warm maple syrup or powdered sugar. The only morning chatter show that’s even remotely tolerable is Chris Hayes’ show. The rest are beneath contempt. I’m off to battle weeds in the beds in front of the house. Have a great day.
Good morning. Ms Brazil has had no credibilty with me for over a dacade.
Good morning Margaret. I threw up a little in my mouth while reading that particular line-up.
More leaching of the Homeland Security Industrial Complex into civilian law enforcement:
Counter-terrorism chemical labs test for synthetic pot
A modest proposal: if they’re looking for hazardous substances, why don’t they test seawater from the Gulf? Or tap water from Dimock, PA? Or whatever gas the Oakland police were using yesterday?
Gotta go to work. See y’all in a bit.
On Sunday? Hope it goes fast and easy for you.
If you think Obama is for the “people” you might first say which “people.” Banksters and insurance executives? He’s certainly been their friend. Can’t help but wonder if you’re really paying attention or on the payroll.
ROTFLMAO.
What!!! No Mitt “Oilslick” Romney this morning.I have to say this, though. I know he lies more than the Grinch, but it’s close.
Birds of a feather….I guess Newt welcomes Cain’s support…How are they doing with the women’s vote?
I suppose it depends on which womens we be talking about.
And,
regarding the “base”…Pow!, straight to the moon, soft doughy man.
G’Morning…O maybe women with sense…what da’ ya think?
You heard what that woman Nancy Pelosi said about Newt.
For the most part, women with sense won’t have anything to do with his disingenuous, not to mention immoral, self.
I could be dreaming, tho. :)
Morning OnS. Glad I don’t watch this shit anymore. I have more important things to do like clean my toilets. LOL
Will the purveyors of corporate propaganda be discussing the efforts to destroy the Occupy movement around the country?
OT: Hi, when I have tried to PC security you suggested, I keep getting links to buy stuff…any suggestions?
Good morning, all.
Somewhere, between the exTremes, ‘twix T-baggers and T-boggers, there MUST be a wee island of reason … somewhere in America? Perhaps on the shores of some distant, dog-gone “lake”?
It has long been easy to anticipate America’s “history” …, certainly since the killing of JFK, one merely need look at the “players”, imagine the WORST possible outcome for “the people” … and, there, presto, whamo, and ge-bango!!! … you will have it. Of late, this “process” has become even easier as “the people” are no longer even pretended to be among the “players” …
‘Tis the “haves and have-mores” … and their willing minions who matter, who decide, and who control.
Adam Smith’s “Vile Maxim” (or its equivalent) is well and truly upon us … devil take the hindmost … amen.
As an aside: How shall Obama keep his fanatical fanciers from fawning fabulousy about his failed and frivolous “Signature Achievement”, the “health insurance” giveaway to Big Insurance? Shall the Great and Grand BO have to bring back Rahm the Tyrannical to snort, “Shut the fuck up, you retards, you’re ruining the show!!!”?
Ah … well.
DW
popeye! You always pick the fun job. :)
Like, picking up the dog poo. But, I understand that it might be better than watching the line-up. There are only a few things I understand these days. So, thanks for starting my day with a lift.
Alliterations are fun. Today’s comment was brought to you by the letter “F”.
I’m sitting here wondering if I should start a series of diaries. This week brought to you by the letter… A, and so on.
Just another filter, but it might be another way to view the weeks news.
what browser do you use?
n Edit: I use Chrome with ad block plus so I don’t get ad’s. Any program all probably have links to buy products because it’s freeware.
I try and keep it simple. I decided that electoral politics is a dead issue with me. It helps me keep sane and from becoming a drug addict. *g*
You know, it really is simple and easy to make and keep me happy.
It is so great to read your eloquent words of wisdom again at the Lake.
Good morning everyone. I skipped church in favor of the spituality found here.*g*
Your husband must be elated. :)
;)Would that be Vista? or Explorer? Thanks
The abecedarian “approach”, demi, has much to recommend it,
Hmmm, it must be aitch today and eye tomorrow.
Do not fret, anyone, as soon … it will be up to “u”.
;~DW
You can say that again. A voice crying in the wilderness. *g*
Darn bad eyesight. “Spirituality” although spitology is what I do when someone cracks me up here at the Lake*g*
I know I’m tiresome on the subject, but if you use Firefox with the AdBlock Plus add-on you get NO ads. Well, maybe occasionally if one is somehow embedded into the site in such a way that it isn’t flagged…but almost none, including those annoying ads between clips of shows like Rachel Maddow viewed online.
I [almost] never see website ads.
Margaret, if I ever get within reaching’ distance, I’ll lay a hug on you that won’t whoa, for that sweet little knee-to-the-groin; please-cut-the-bullshit, paragraph.
The notion of Barack Obama as a “man of the people…” is arrant horseshit, and anyone pimping it, while they ignore the reality of the political debacle for us that Obama has created in his three years in office, is part of the problem; not the solution.
I really don’t think it matters what browser you use. It’s freeware so they have to make money somehow. I don’t think there is much you can do about it sorry. But it’s free. *g*
Thanks….Ill keep at it…
I don’t think that was a typo, I think it was a Freudian slip. LOL. Love it. We pups have spituality!!
He’s satisfied. :)
I recommended some freeware internet security products. They always have links to other paid for programs. I used to use Firefox but Chrome is faster and it has adblock plus as well.
:)
Hey demi! Do it!
I’m sitting here watching Bill Moyers (online). He is so great!
I could hum a few bars of the doxology for ya. That’ll do, J, that’ll do.
It is amazing where we can find grace, mercy and justice. It might take harder to find sometimes, but it’s always there, somewhere.
He is great..authentic and truthful I think as well as smart…I heard him speak recently at Un.TX….amazing
As nearly as I could tell from my brief use of Chrome, AdBlock Plus doesn’t work as well as it does on Firefox. Maybe because I think it was developed for Firefox and is more complete on that platform.
But then, we Mac users don’t have to worry as much about those creepy crawlies from the net. Unix is a pretty secure environment. And the baddies still don’t come up with as much crap for Macs. They think we don’t matter.
More like, “Egad!!! What is that horrible sound issuing from behind the bathroom door?”
Er, ’tis DW warbling ‘neath the shower-head and steamin’ up the mirrors … and soon enuf, he’ll be drippin’ on the floor.
‘Tis grand indeed to “see” my many friends again, popyeye … and bask among the company of the thoughtful, passionate, and compassionate.
Of a certainty! It is so.
;~DW
I am so happy he’s back. My local PBS station carries his show later, like Sunday or Monday, but I can watch online as I do most TV. My actual TV hasn’t been on in weeks.
Oh, you’re funny. Spit-uallity. (I had missed the misspelling. And, now you have reminded me that I haven’t put up the coffee yet. That might help my eyesight.)
I have not had a tv for a few months after it died…Not sure Ive missed it much….pretty surprising I thought. I think I will get another in time…
Teacher! Popeye’s copying me! *g*
I went to look up the doxology (I remember it well from my childhood) because I thought it was lyrics set to a classical piece, and the first hit played it loudly in my ear and there was no way to turn it off. And I never heard of the composer listed.
there was no way to turn it off
Oh, now you’re the one being funny this morning. There’s gotta be 50 ways to walk away from the doxology.
Now there’s a mental picture!!
No, I mean turn off the rendition on that web page.
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/p/r/praisegf.htm
You can see him through the steam? Lucky you.
I knew what you meant. Even without my coffee.
I was just thinking of Paul Simon.
I’d click on that link, but, the rest of the fam is still asleep.
(And, one of the many reasons the kids moved here was they were made to go to church on Sunday morns at the other house.)
I learn from the best *g*
I am off to get my daughter some upset stomach medicine as she is trying to cure a staph infection and they gave her Vicodin for pain. She never did go to the hospital. She has my stubborn streak in her. I hope to see everyone at Caturday. I will always be a dad.
You’re just so cute.
How’d the dinner with your friends turn out? I bet you all had a swell time. That’s my new favorite word – swell.
Amazing…I haven’t been in a church that sings the doxology for probably close to 50 years. Unitarian Universalists don’t sing it, and that’s the only church I’ve attended since I was in my 20s. And I’m pretty sure I could still sing the whole thing!
As long as the antibiotics are clearing the staph infection, she’s probably okay. But, I remember when I had the cat scratch staph a while ago and was on 2 kinds of antibiotics and the vicodin, that it really threw my system off. She most definitely needs to stay off her feet and take the whole series of pills. Staph is stubborn too.
Good daddy.
It’s right up there with the alphabet song. Stuck in your brain forever.
I want to say again what an excellent job you performed yesterday at PUAC. Really swell, Moll.
Vicodin makes me nauseated too, even taking it strictly according to the rules. And it doesn’t
Even though she’s a nurse, I’m assuming her doctor would make her go to the hospital if he thought her condition requires it. I’m also assuming she’s on a very strong antibiotic.
“The toilet vented to vacuum again last night. Here’s your suit and a patch kit.”
Yes I had a staph infection on my index finger had a red line all the way up my arm. They had to pull the finger nail out. it was really fun.
Thanks, demi. I didn’t do much, but I was happy that we had so many pups and even a lurker, and that people were still commenting into the evening. That is FUN!!!
Yes she is and the swelling has gone down a bit. What made it scary it was in her hip. If it went into the bone it would be game over.
Actually, it’s Percocet that nauseates me, not Vicodin. Vicodin doesn’t do much for me at all. I have a very high pain threshold, and I speculate (and one doc agreed) that a high tolerance for pain and low response to pain meds are two sides of the same coin.
It was really swell Beav LMAO. We had a great time and my wife enjoyed it a lot. We don’t get out much and we clean our house once a year whether it needs it or not. :)
That was something new for a PUAC.
Here’s a youtube link for the Symphony Chorale I’m joining. I think they sound pretty good. I’m interested in hearing what you think.
Starts on Feb 6 and I’m just so excited.
The fees per unit went from $26 to $36 this year. With the other fees, I paid $58. Pretty slick, I think, for the thrills I’m looking forward to experiencing.
You have been missed my friend.:)
That’s very good. How on earth did she get a staph infection in her hip (if she even knows)?
When I was a kid, I stepped on a rusty nail and got a red line from my foot up my leg. The ER doctor had said if it had gotten up to a large lymph gland, it would have been very bad.
(My father brought be home three pairs of tennis shoes and told me he did not want to see my barefoot again for the whole summer.)
Wow, you really were extra busy yesterday. Hope you can rest today.
They sound great, and that’s a challenging piece of music, I’d guess. The backdrop is the same one we use in the concert hall at IUSB. Our fees are $30 a year. I’m guessing you will have to buy a black dress, too.
What part do you sing? Did you (or will you) have to audition, if only to get placed in the correct section?
Yeah, but upthread he said he was gonna clean toilets. I would have thought he did that yesterday BEFORE guests arrived. *G*
Honey, I’m a musician. I gots several black dresses. In various sizes, I might add.
I’m an alto, and I’ll probably have to sing a scale or something. But, I’ll just tell him my history of singing with choirs and he’ll hear my voice and it’ll be just fine. Easy Peasy.
I might have to buy a new black folder for sheet music. I’ve got some around here somewhere, and maybe I’ll even find one.
PS – I’ve sung solos at weddings and funerals too.
Molly – cooking question. I’m going to make pancakes now. I have a bag of dried blueberries. If I just add them as is to the mix, will berries be crunchy, or will they be juicy, do you think?
Well, you’re all set then. My current choir is pretty strict about “concert dress” and the women wear (inexpensive) pearl necklaces and pearl earrings. Of course it breaks down a bit when the student choirs join us, because their idea of concert dress is, well, different…
Our choir members fill out a form at the beginning that includes how long we’ve sung and where (i.e., church choir). I’m still using my music folder from Cincinnati, the one with the little elastics to put music under.
I’m sure you won’t have any trouble. I knew you were a musician, I was just curious about how strict the choir is. We sort of self-identify our section. I was always a soprano with a very big range but age has whacked at the upper notes so now I sing second soprano.
I’ve never used those, but at a guess I would think you’d have to soak them (at least briefly) to reconstitute them. Frozen would be fine, but dried won’t get enough moisture from the batter to be juicy.
Oh, I’m sure the student, beginning choir members would consider black jeans with only several holes as concert dress. :)
Los Angeles is very laid back, casual. And, just about everyone is either a singer, musician, actor or writer. Well, not Everyone, but my guess is we have more here (and prolly NY) than anywhere else. Hmm…may look up some statistics later.
One concert a year or so ago, a male student showed up in a black suit with an orange shirt. He was allowed to sing, but I suspect he heard about it later.
Good morning, DW. Well, with evidence accumulating that you are ready to be dipping your stinky old toes back into the Lake, the world is starting to look better to me already. ((DW))
I’ve got them soaking. They’re not really crunchy, though. More like raisen texture. Thanks, sis.
Snort. Oh, those kids.
You doing anything different or especially fun today?
Thanks for asking. Nope, nothing at all. A little laundry. It is snowing and blowing and a good day to stay in.
I am thinking of putting in a few hours on my paying gig, since I will be away part of a couple of days NEXT week and probably won’t work much. They need the work I’m doing, and I need the money to pay for my bathroom project!!
Raisin texture wouldn’t be very appealing in pancakes, IMHO. A bit of a soak should help.
Sounds like a good plan.
Maybe I’ll see you at Caturday, later.
I’m usually pretty good with multi-tasking, but blogging and making pancakes doesn’t work. :)
from a patient at the hospital. She’s a nurse so I am sure she gets exposed to a whole lot of things.
I need to swim yet today then rest for the balance of the day. It was a good time.
I notice that the original Obat has not returned to defend him/herself, or his/her hero.
I did a little research on “Angellight.” Here’s one of her comments from a year ago. Gives you a pretty good idea of where she’s coming from:
Should be “Obot” above, but “Obat” works pretty well!!!
Missing a great career in standup comedy, that one lol.
