- “Hopes of a debt deal between Greece and its private creditors in time for Monday’s eurozone meeting have been dashed, amid increased pressure on bondholders to accept bigger losses. After being close to a breakthrough, the high-stakes talks – aimed at averting a Greek default by slashing the country’s monumental debt load – were set back when the International Monetary Fund and Germany insisted that investors agree to reduced interest rates on new bonds.” Greg Palast had an interesting comment on the Eurocrisis at yesterday’s Book Saloon. The whole post is worth reading.
- “It came to a very British end, this most Russian saga. The barristers thanked the judge, the judge thanked the typists and the translators and, after nearly four months of quite extraordinary testimony, all rose and filed out of the neon striplit box that is Court 26 of London’s new Commercial Court, and returned to their wildly different lives.”
While the average American was glued to either Goat Rodeo 2012 or some other mindless pablum this weekend, there were things going on elsewhere in the world.
- “Syria has condemned a new Arab League initiative that calls on President Bashar al-Assad to cede power by holding early elections and forming a ‘national unity government’. Syrian state television, quoting an unnamed official source, said early on Monday morning that the resolution, passed on Sunday night, contradicted the will of the Syrian people and was a violation of its national sovereignty. The source said the resolution was part of a conspiracy against the Syrian people.”
- “The decision by Khaled Meshaal, the exiled political leader of Hamas, not to seek re-election when his term is up later this year has cast uncertainty on the movement’s recent shift towards a more moderate approach in its struggle against Israel.”
- “The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), which represents Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, has won 47 per cent of all seats in the country’s election for the lower house of parliament, the election commission has said. The FJP won 235 seats in the new People’s Assembly, Abdel Moez Ibrahim, the head of the country’s election commission, announced on Saturday. It also secured 127 seats on party lists, while its candidates won another 108 in first-past-the-post constituency votes, where votes were cast for individual candidates.”
- “The prominent US-based rights group Human Rights Watch (HRW) announced the release of its annual report today in Cairo, in a move its executive director said is meant to reflect the report’s primary focus on the so-called “Arab Spring,” and that came with harsh words for Egypt’s ruling generals one year after a popular uprising here.”
- “The chief Egyptian military prosecutor decided to pardon a blogger, who was jailed for criticizing the army, among nearly 2,000 detainees, on the one-year anniversary of the Egyptian uprising that led to the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak, the Associated Press reported. Blogger Maikel Nabil Sanad was arrested in March and sentenced to two years in prison after he was charged with criticizing the army and publishing false information. He posted blogs comparing the military to Mubarak’s regime, which is usually voiced by protesters, the AP reported.”
- “Thousands of Yemenis have taken to the streets of the capital Sanaa in protest against a law granting President Ali Abdullah Saleh full immunity from prosecution over his government’s vicious crackdown during a year-long uprising. Tens of thousands of demonstrators demanded the president be put on trial and executed for crimes they say he committed during his 33 years in power, the AFP reported.”
- “On a vast stage in a hanger north of Paris, in front of thousands of screaming fans, stood a man in a sober suit and sensible tie. This was France’s self-styled Mr Ordinary, who once appeared so jovial, placid and unthreatening that his own party called him The Marshmallow.”

About Firedoglake
Thanks, SD, and a happy beginning to your Year of the Dragon.
Morning SD and thanks for your support and comment on Caturday yesterday. Sorry I wasn’t more active in the thread but was preparing my diary for this morning. It was a good protest and about 50 people showed up. It means a lot when a Firepup supports what you are doing. :)
Morning all.
Gosh. I thought that the President would recognize that people from all parties want to strengthen and support Social Security, not GOP past proposals for retirement accounts. But then that would put the lie to his upcoming speech wherein he pretends he is a populist and not one of the one percenters.

Good going. Thanks for working for economic equity.
Thanks Ruth I appreciate it. It was a good turnout for a cold winter day. :)
Democracynow is at Sundance.
Mornin’, pups
Hooboy, stocked up on gasoline and heating oil?

Mornin SD and pups. Comforting to know that at least the French electorate has a real choice at the polls rather than merely voting for a tweedle dee or a tweedle dum.
The President doing the bidding of his puppetmasters.

Who will prove to be the better hippie puncher, Barack Obama or Newt Gangrene?
I filled my tank about 10 days ago because reports were gasoline was going to increase. It never happened guess I filled up too early. *g*
Nothing Obama says can be trusted at face value, everything has a double edge. He must have studied the tactics of eighteenth and nineteenth century government officials making phony treaties and promises with Native Americans. The 99% are now all Native Americans.
Around here it’s gone up and back down. Think a few extra gallon jugs might be in order.
Hope you don’t mind a little editing. :)
Goat Rodeo…
SD, your aim is impeccable.
caleb36 @12
His “gifts” — bastardized health care, fake jobs bills, fake foreclosure help — resemble the smallpox-laced blankets given to the Native Americans.
I apologize for thinking at one time, that former Senator Chris Dodd was decent and progressive. He is indecent and Fascist and dangerous to freedom. HE promised not to be a lobbyist after he retired from the Senate. And he became a lobbyist for the greediest people in America, not Wall Street, but Hollywood producers.
Wil Wheaton has a Post.
We might consider boycotting the crappy Hollywood movies which are mostly about vampires.
But do not boycott Will Wheaton, or Matt Damon or Michael Moore or Donald Sutherland. And Chris Dodd is himself pissed off at the “petulant” bloggers such as me. But most of all he is angry at politicians whio expect yearly bribes, because one bribe is not enough.
Good morning, pupses, and thank you, SD.
When coming back to this page from one of the links, I got a big red screen with this message:

We recommend that you do not continue to this website.
Go to my home page instead

I didn’t click on the link button, just opened a new window (this one). Has anyone else had this happen?
Creepy.
We get a local ad that covers FDL and has no (Close) spot. I reported it to monitors. Want me to report it?
Good morning, Pups. Well, I’m starting the Year of the Dragon by “draggin” my butt in to get examined by SSI Disability doctors, something I should have done, but was too damn proud to do, twelve years ago, when it became clear I wasn’t going to recover from injuries I got in a car wreck. I don’t expect much, since the government has never done anything but screw me, but I have pretty much gone as far as I can without some help, so any good energy y’all could send my way would be most appreciated. Any Blue Dragon available this morn, or would it be ridiculous to think any would survive the first few minutes on this day?
Yes, please, if you would. Thank you Ruth.
Morning OmAli it has not happened to me.
Got your Blue Dragon right here, rc.
Glad you are going to do that.
What a sleaze. He’s right up there with Tom Daschle whoring for the medical insurers.
Good luck to you.
If you haven’t applied for SSI get a SS attorney to take your case. They only take 25% of your back pay awarded. I have been through the process. Be active with the SSI examiner. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck. If you’re eligible for SS they may tell you to apply for that instead. That’s what they told my supervisor when she checked into applying for SSI.
Okay, done, they never heard of it.
Good morning, popeye. I don’t think it is legit, so I don’t want to open whatever it is. Hopefully the website pups can do something with it.
Thanks again, Ruth.
Morning SD & Pups of Fire:
Hedges is up over at Truthdig.
What link were you on when you went to the Diner from it? That would help.
Sounds like spyware or malware. Just as a technical note install “superantipsyware” remover. It’s free and takes care of a lot of that crap. Removes from 25-75 pieces of crap everyday. :)
http://www.superantispyware.com
Good morning! I’m discovering that I can get a better idea of what is happening in the world by just reading the menu up top, even without following the links (which I usually do), than I ever got from my local newspaper, even when that was one of the better ones!
Thanks, SouthernDragon, for your work on this!!
You are an angel. ((OmAli)) I have not had the computer trouble you had, just a lot of slow response stuff.
I would advise everyone to install the Firefox browser and the AdBlock Plus add-on. It blocks nearly all web page ads.
This can’t be said enough. :)
The French Presidential candidate link.
I’m just checking my Norton to see if it reports anything.
Gasoline here has dropped into the “teens” in the past week. I think I paid $3.19 and now I’m seeing it for a few cents less. It is infuriating that it takes huge leaps (20 or 30 cents) near times of the month that are common paydays and then a couple of days later the price drops again. It was $3.65 a couple of weeks ago.
When your subscription to Norton runs out let me know. There are a lot of free programs that do what Norton does and doesn’t eat your memory for lunch. :)
Redford’s up on final segment on democracynow.
LOL! Thanks.
I know I try and guess when it’s suppose to go up so I can fill up but I am usually wrong. Sigh! Luckily I don’t drive a lot since I am retired now. :)
Glennzilla had a razor-sharp skewering of Chris Dodd the other day.
Chris Dodd’s Paid SOPA Crusading
And Bill Moyers had another good episode last Friday. He was pretty pointed about Obama, too.
Crony Capitalism
We went from under $3 to $3.29, now back at $3.03 where I go.
I watched Bill Moyers last night it was really good and to the point. He doesn’t pull any punches.
Okay, passed it on and told her our fellow commenters are advising you to install anti-spyware, am told;
‘ I do think the problem is most likely on her machine’
But they’ll look into it here.
I have an app called “Gas Buddy” installed on my iPhone and when I see the tank dropping to around half, I start checking gas prices. In fact, I sometimes top off if I see a low price. Another advantage to that is spreading the cost over a longer period of time instead of an entire tank fill-up all at once. That way I can be ready to “move” if I see prices taking a big jump.
I am retired too (not for health reasons, though) so I don’t drive as much, but my work was only about 3 miles from home so it isn’t a lot different, and my kids and their families are still 125 miles away…
I have used AVG and malwarebytes, do you have others? because would love to try them.
Good idea unfortunately I don’t have an I-phone. I guess I will just wing it. LOL
I think they are right, and I appreciate you contacting them.
Thank you, website pupses and fellow commenters.
You’re in good hands, with FDL :)
Helps us all to know when these things happen. thank you too, and everyone.
For viruses use “avast” for spyware and malware use “superantispyware” to clean out old and temp files use “cc cleaner” for de-fragging your computer use “smartdefrag2″ they are all free and keep my system with no problems.
Good to know, thanks a lot.

omali, if you have a back up/restore prog on your machine (my winxp is phoenix) you might just leave everything open and see if you have a recent restore point. if so, i’d select it and let the prog shut down for you.
reminds me that i should set new backup restore points while all going well..
karen
On edit: they are good programs and free as well. The thing I don’t like abut AVG is that you have to re-boot your computer every time there is an update. At least they used to require it. With avast it updates in the back ground and you have to do nothing.
Off to swim (in a pool) have a great day all. here is a little bit of Heaven for everyone.
Thanks for your suggestion. I’m not sure, but I’ve left the window open, so I can still check.
I use Security Essentials on both my computers. Checking with other malware apps to see if anything is slipping through and they come up empty handed. It’s good and it’s free for PC users.
Good morning pups, (as is any morning I can stop by) Thanks SD, just went through the news you provided.
Teen off to school, sat at the end of the driveway and had a nice chat in the vehicle, waiting for the bus. Rain, fog, water on top of ice on the back roads. Glad to be able to go into my own garage for a small project later today.
I have it on my iPhone but it runs on a computer too, as a web page. On the iPhone it uses the GPS to find “gas near me” but you can put in your address on the web page or on a non-GPS device.
I was interested and a bit surprised to see Gas Buddy quoted in some news item about gas prices. Apparently they keep tabs on gas prices all over the country.
Gas Buddy
They even have a “heat map” showing prices nationwide.
Good morning, nonqui.
A friend sent me a link to a WI tourism ad, Winter Wonderland. Have you seen it?
Here the schools would close for anything close to that.
It is too good not to link

Working on a project, so need to wish you pupses a great start to the week.
Safe travels and safe home, all youse :)
ohmmmm
Thanks Molly I have bookmarked it and glad I can use it for my laptop. Really cool site. :)
Everything! *g*
Cute, I had not seen it. That would be more of an urban winter setting or activity than I am accustomed to. The preferred instrument in the snow, when not recreating, would be a snow-blower.
We are on the front edge of a low pressure system moving warmer air up the eastern edge of the state. As this moves east temps are dropping and the counter-clockwise flow (from the NW later today) is forecast to bring us back to full-on winter.
Enough rain to wash the road-salt off the exterior of the vehicle for the moment.
I haven’t told you good job for all your doing in Wisconsin. Keep up the great work. I follow your posts here and what you are doing. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with everything going on. But wanted to let you know I appreciate your efforts. *g*
You don’t want to know it was in the 70′s here yesterday? I didn’t think so.
Thanks, and the shit just keeps coming from the state Repukes on every level. Rush to (totally deregulate) mining legislation, refusing federal money to upgrade public health services, pending legislation to retroactively forgive lead paint manufacturers on cases presently pending against them. $3.2B profit last year and a company with no threat of leaving the state gets a $4M gift from a non-partisan state agency supposedly a business incubation lender, just because the company asked for some money.
I don’t mind at all, really. Winter gives the proper contrast to fully appreciate spring, summer and fall. You can have your summer heat when I am enduring a sweltering 82 degrees F in June July and August. ;-)
Thank you, Ruth. ;-)
Thanks, popy. SSI is my only way into the system right now.
Thanks, buddy. SSI is my only shot at getting anything from the system. They will probably tell me to drop dead lol, but if I can just get back a piece of what the IRS has stolen from me, I’d be happy. ;-)
And indeed, when it’s over 100 for months at a time, I will repent of this spring in the dead of winter (for us) – now am off to get a few things done.
Thanks for good company, all.
Geez, it’s raining cats and dogs here. Great weather for submitting yourself to a govt agent who will probably be unsympathetic lol. Well, I’m off. BBL
You can tell because of all the poodles in the sidewalk, right?
As another posted here, get an SSI attorney.y son was repeatedly denied SSI until he did get an attorney, who not only facilitated his award for a monthly check, he also got back pay in the thousands of dollars.
Have fun taking care of those few things.
Sorry I missed you and some others this am.
I’ve got a few (oh, ha, more like tons) things to accomplish today.
But, at least I’ve got some help. :)
I hope things are smoothly progressing demi. I let my Sunday bread baking go until today. My teen actually allowed me upstairs to her room and we sorted through a few things that she figured she could turn into cash for other items she is desiring. Two big bins of old toys, games and stuff going to goodwill.
Good on both of you. It feels so good to let go of old stuff. Just a real lightening.
We’re sitting here talking about the economy and how this is such a good time to get things you need, like a couch or an appliance or just whatever, because people need gas or rent money.
Oh, and thanks for asking.
There are tv shows about pickers, storage wars, etc.
Can’t believe I forgot that Greg Palast was at the book salon yesterday. Ack.
Abner backears at the thought of poodle puddles.
Good luck and a hot cup of blue dragon sliding down the counter to you. Let us know how it goes…
Solution: Leave the Microsoft world. A Linux operating system, such as Ubuntu is now just as easy to use as Microsoft’s OS, is open-sourced and rigorously tested so that combating malware is much easier to accomplish, and is free to download and use.
There is malware that delivers that message. For the web, Firefox and Web of Trust is a better way of screening web sites. It is crowd-sourced information and provides information before you open the links. BTW, WOT lists FDL as “Excellent”.
Or, puddle poodles.
(I have muddy Brindle pawprints on the LR floor right now. It’s raining here too.)
I have a question for you. I tried Ubuntu and could get connected to the internet but every time I shut it down and restarted it I had to enter all the network parameters again to get connected. I ran Ubuntu along side windows so that may have been the problem but the help files said you could run in addition to windows. Do you have any thought? Thanks I also tried Knoppix and had the same problem.
I have tried all your samples of coffee you sent and there isn’t one I don’t like. Look for more orders in the future. :)
Again get an attorney t will go better for you if you do. I was lucky and got it on the first try but I have the disease for 11 years. :(
Time for a quick washup – just realized last week we have no Cowboy Bebop on the jukebox so I brought my own – Does this make us a BYOB establishment? (Bring Your Own Bebop)
See you later, Space Cowboys and Cowgirls….

Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts. Call Me, Call Me.
Wow, that dreamy, babe.
Taking my space self into the other room to sort crap in the officesoontobebedroom.
Stay Dreamy.
Try running a serious graphics editing program on Linux. I looked as recently as last month and we still get an amateur program as an alternate to Photoshop.
The best we can do is dual boot…Ubuntu and Win7. I can easily do it but suggesting this to my SO put her to rout!
In years to come this will likely change, but at the same time MS is also changing.
…or get a Mac…
Hiya, pups! Interesting about problems this morning. I had no trouble connecting (w/ FF) and reading, no strange screens (run ZoneAlarm for security, seems to work well), but…when I tried to post a comment, got wheels running, ending in a “database error, try again” message. Tried 4x, gave up and launched IE (sigh).
This kind of thing has been happening with FF lately, followed by IE working fine.
We’ll see if this posts…
Ah, success!
As usual, I’m arriving as everyone else is leaving or has left. Late getting up again.
The weather, however, is very nice; sunny, about 60 degrees on my patio. Forecast, though, is for thunderstorms tomorrow, so I guess some y’all’s rain is coming in. I’d better go out and enjoy today, I guess.
A piece of good news today – the Supreme Court (surprisingly enough) ruled that law enforcement cannot just throw a GPS tracker onto our vehicles any time they want to, without bothering to get a warrant.
Will wonders never cease? Have only heard the headline, not read the report yet. This has been getting more and more common at all levels of law enforcement, so it has to be a good thing.
What version FF? Are you running a 64 bit OS?
Oh, lordy, you would ask. As to FF, I install every update when it appears. I can never remember what #bits OS I have. Lemme see …Yep, FF 9.01, states it’s “up to date.” Not sure where to fiind out about 64-bit. What are the other possibilities?
Ah, I found it – 32-bit.
I admit I know nothing about the meaning of the 32-bit vs. 64-bit. Can I change that, or is it permanent? How does it matter?
Mr. Clausen you need to work your magic. LOL
Thanks for the quick comeback.
No need for you to worry about what you are running, I simply want to know for my purposes. Finally, what operating system? To check (assuming you are on a PC running MS), you can get that by right clicking on “My Computer”, scroll down to “Properties” and double click that. At the top of the next screen, you will see the windows version.
Oh, the OS is MS Vista, 2007. Came installed on the laptop.
Hello tejan how are ya. I have been pretty busy with my daughter and occupy. I see your comments all the time but I am either too tired to answer or don’t know enough about the subject matter being discussed. Sigh! Wanted to say hello tho hope your doing well. :)
Hi, popeye. I lurk plenty, too – so often arriving when everybody else has finished a discussion.
I’m not busy enough, I’m afraid. Starting to worry I’ll never get any work again, and even if I were eligible for SS, it will be way inadequate. Plenty to do to fill my time, but I’d really like to be earning some money.
Didja have a nice swim?
Yes once I get out the door the rest is easy. Even though it tires me out it is a good kind of tired. My thoughts coming your way on the job front. I know it’s bad out there. Keep trying as I know you will. (((tejan)) I wish there was something I could do. I thought of compiling a list of all FDL members and what service they could offer and maybe people could get some income that way. Too far fetched? You never now what can get started if we put our minds to it. keep the faith. *g*
Yes,you’re right, you never know till you try. The hard part, as you probably know, is keeping up the energy and will to keep at it.
I rack my brain for something different to do that might bring in some income without being a regular job. So far, haven’t come up with anything, but hey, I’m not dead yet, right?
That’s right and as long as you keep trying you will get work. I think something has to give in this country. I guess i am putting my hope in occupy. The younger gen needs to stand up as well as anyone who can fight and get in the streets. Greece had over 20,000 protesters when they raised tuition. I guess not enough people are hurting yet and there are too many electronic diversions to keep them sedate. The pain is coming when all the budget cuts start taking effect and they cut SS Medicare and Medicaid. I guess then people will stand up because that’s the only way to get change. It is not done at the ballot box never has never will. *g*
Do you have any way of doing a computer cleanup? Lots of stuff gets to plug up the computer. Also, do you do a hard drive defrag?
If the answer is no to either or both, that would be my next step. A great source of simple, effective tools is here.
Aw, thanks. Yeah, I defrag occasionally, but I think my security program does it automatically. Clear caches regularly (last night), etc. Don’t think there are any problems, but ya never know. Haven’t had any spyware probs (knocking wood) since installing ZoneAlarm (McAfee and Norton both allowed those fake security alarm programs that are unstoppable regularly).
Thanks for your suggestions. Wouldn’t hurt to set aside time to review state of computer cleanup later today.
Hi y’all. I’m back. Thanks for the good thoughts and advice. IMO, the best way for me to make money out of this is to take bets against anyone who wants to bet I’ll get approved for benefits lol. Anyway, I’m exhausted and feel like I took a beating, so maybe I already got what I deserve (eye roll). Any coffee left? I don’t mind if it’s gotten rancid.
Hej, ygm.
Yes, coffee right here.
I haven’t had a chance to read a single link since this morning. Let’s have a coffee and reading break.
Hope there’s enough to go around.
Maybe I’ll go make some more. Or hot chocolate!
I’ve been spending time going through last year’s crop of images. Many have been resolved, but I re-located a specialty program to recast the color so that a greater range of possibilities open up. That’s always a good reason to revisit.
Plenty of coffee to share!
What program are you using currently and what have you relocated?
(just paused my Richard Wolff Economic Update)
BBL, I hope.
I use DxO Pro for lens and sensor correction and sometimes other corrections as well, but my main program is Photoshop CS5. It has endless variety!
The third is a color space from The Color Consortium for generating what they call scene referred images.
Have some hot chocolate!
BBL? Well, I have lots of images but not by the barrel!
Most serious graphics folks I know use Macs – or at least they did a couple years ago. But your point is well taken. To my knowledge there is not yet an open source community working on a suite of serious graphics or A/V editing applications. And the GIS world has Quantum GIS, but it isn’t quite up to professional standards yet.
It won’t cost you a dime to try. The attorneys only collect if you get awarded back wages. The filling out of the claim can be done online. Why not give it a shot?
Mac started it all, and PC was a late bloomer. But I come from an engineering profession as well, and there is, until recently, no place for Mac in the general operations for engineering software. So either I have two systems or do it all on PC. Given the price/performance differences, PC is a no-brainer.
Serious work is not limited to any platform. Availability of programs, apps, and such guides the choice.
Yes, indeed realitychecker. That is one reality to definitely check!
Sometimes we need to insist huh?
Not to intrude but Norton and Zone Alarm take a lot of memory to use and can slow down your computer. Don’t know if that’s the case with you but it something to watch. My 2 cents. :)
I’m running Ubuntu only and from a residence with only a router-modem. There is sufficient technical information out there to handle most issues as long as the drivers are adequately supported by the various open-source communities involved in the various pieces of your network.
I can run a Nikon Coolscan IV slide scanner that driver support was not included in those Microsoft Vista supports. One of the scanning applications available for free download supports it and it works great.
But…the wireless card driver on a Dell machine from 2007 is not supported; it must be a proprietary spec between Broadcomm and Dell. I have the box connected to the router with an Ethernet cable, and the home network works fine.
Ubuntu is really good with older equipment. It has made an IBM Netvista smart terminal that we took as a hand-me-down function well enough as a kitchen computer for a recipe manager application and (strangely enough) streaming the Hulu programs my wife has on when she cooks.
I had hoped Ubuntu would handle the Epson 3200 scanner but it is not on their list, as well as not on the Win7 list. So I have XP standing by in dual boot instead.
I’ll second that! Microsoft essentials is much leaner without losing any capability for which it is intended. Norton has acted as it’s own virus to Photoshop, as did Panda.
It also helps to be running a 64 bit system as the RAM capability is gonzo if you have the money. I run 12G and my scratch drive for Photoshop has little to do, speeding up memory intensive operations.
I know who to contact when my machine gets outdated. I like Ubuntu but don’t like have to re enter all the info to connect to the internet. I might be a conflict with Broad-comm as well. That is on my computer as well. Knoppix is like Linux as well. I still have the program I bought for 6 bucks. I may fiddle around with it. Thanks for the info. :)
I still have XP and a 32 bit system. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it right? I guess when my computer shoots craps I want to get a Mac. You don’t have to fiddle around with virus, malware, etc. My bro has one and it runs like a charm. *g*
To each his/her own. I frequently recommend Mac, but fro me, a price tag in the thousands for a machine I can build for a price tag in the hundreds does not an attraction make!
I added Microsoft Security Essential and it also runs like a charm. But when it or I fuck it up, I can fix it!
rc, did you get the hug?
LOL! It’s a good thing I had to leave. I don’t have the slightest idea what you are talking about, but it prompted a bunch of responses that are in a delightfully foreign language!
I’ll just sit back and watch, thanks :)
I like purty picshurss, lol!
I spell it peekchairs!
You’re more refined. And yes, I’d love some hot chocolate, thank you! Pinkie extended :)
Truly do need to go now. It’s always so good to see your fonts, Starbuck.
ohmmm
Take care OmAli.
Yes, popy, I will. I know all this because I investigated it 7 or 8 years ago, and I should have made a formal application then, but I hated the idea of taking money from the government, and I kept hoping I would get better and not need the help. But I always assumed I’d get denied initially if I applied, so I looked into lawyers way back then, and I know how it works. It’s just depressing is all, to know what they put people through, and my experience today just confirms to me that what I had heard was accurate. If I get approved, I will be so surprised that I may have a stroke lol.
Thanks, amigo, I will do what I have to. Once I start something, I don’t give up easily lol.
You doll, it was as comforting as a psychic hug can get. ;-)
Just so long as it is a stroke of good luck!
Didn’t mean to push you (well actually I did LOL) glad you are going to pursue it. Good luck and I am here if you need anything, *g*
Thank you, my friend. I did not feel pushed at all. We’ll have to compare notes one of these days.
Maybe I will call on you when my pc hits the bricks. *g*
I have a file full of notes so anytime just let me know. *g*
LOL
SD if you are still lurking I had an idea for a discussion. Why don’t we discuss Tao Te Ching. I started reading the book and found an online site where they discuss the meaning of each chapter. I have started a word document comparing my version to the one online and the meaning of it. I think I am going to like the study. It seems to me if all would adopt some of the Tao we would have a better world. My 2 cents.
I will. I’d like to do it by phone, when we do it, if that’s OK with you. I have your email, so when I’m able to get a nostril above water, I’ll ask you to do a number exchange with me. I’m not just talking about your actual “notes,” but just to have a personal exchange about what our lives look like. I’ve been wanting to do that for awhile, but things have been too crazy for me to relax and do it.
Please do. Suzanne knows how to reach me.
Will do my friend. Thanks *g*
What site are you looking at? A lot of the verses are enigmatic and there are various interpretations of them around. I published the last verse at Caturday Sunday and am now looking into what other eastern philosophical text I can bore people with.
Anytime just let me know.
Here is the link and if you change the chapter number in the url it will go to that chapter. http://www.taoism.net/ttc/chapters/chap01.htm
And it doesn’t bore me. I have read some eastern philosophy and I find it very informative. It has shown me how to just be.
I’ll give that a look see.
Re boring I was just being facetious. Would like to do Confucius but he may not lend himself to parsing the way I did Tao. Plus I have the original translations by Legge and there may be better translations out there.
I’ve been attracted to Tao for many years. Particularly when I discovered that Quantum Theory and ther Tao had much in common, although I don’t suppose one can use equations on the Tao!
What’s even freakier is String or Membrane Theory and Buddhism.
Beat you to it, la!
Thanks again for the help, popeye :)
That word has an extremely high Ick factor….
Do.Not.Want.To.Study.It.
Been around the block some years back about strings and superstrings. One of my favorite writer on these subjects is Roger Penrose.
When Chaos Theory raised it’s head, I started photographing using some of the ideas (fractals in particular) from that theory, with some decent success.
Your welcome OmAli anytime. *g*
:)
Back to Wolff…
All fleshies have membranes, and some of them are mucous membranes. Had your dinner yet lol?
Thanks. ;-)
Here we go again….
urp.
LOL. Considering where the national conversation has gone since I started trying to promote that term, I find it hard to believe that it has not yet gained universal usage and acceptance.
Wow! I want to know more… Back in my college days I studied chaos theory as a basis of philosophy.
Now, “urp,” THAT is a very visually disturbing word.
