My little twin baby boys are all into boyhood these days…. the baby years go sooooo fast! We took them to visit their great-grandfather yesterday and they got into a tiff about who was going to ring the bell. One of them really decked the other. Their mother and I were shocked! My dad opened the door and both boys just acted like nothing happened. Crap! Funny, but also mind-boggling. They were wonderful from then on.
I don’t care what anyone says; Boys ARE different!
Hi, everybody! Love this song. ’67, huh? My year…h.s. graduation. Can it be that long ago? Yes, yes it can.
Look at their hair…how clean and shiny and neat it is. Can you believe a boy in my high school was kicked out for having such “long hair?” I don’t think it was even quite that long. lol
Okay, enough with the old lady reminiscences.
How’s everybody? CTut, I find it hard to believe that it’s THAT cold anywhere in Hawaii. Cleveland, now, sure.
Girls, for the most part, seem to want to get along and not be reprimanded or challenged by their parents…..boys seem not to be too concerned about the ‘challenging’ part. My girls were quite ‘independent’ and assertive, but I ‘got’ them…understood them. My son was a delightful exploration of a whole new way of thinking. All great kids.
Hmm. Not having any kids of my own, I can only say that while I did want to be a “good kid”, I did plenty of challenging. And I don’t think my mom ever got me. We fought throughout my childhood, huge arguments. (I spent a lot of time ‘sent to my room’).
That was a big part of why I was terrified of becoming a parent.
The book salon’s are getting very good. And watch “Winner take all” a book by two men involved in Wall Street. Very informative. No matter what happens here on planet fear the universe is still awesome.
Oooh, pretty, mysterious pictures! Oh, wait, up there in the corner: 1 degree C. Sheesh, what’s that in American? (ducking) 36 or so?
Heck, we were colder than that two nights last week.
Is it 80-ish down at sea level?
Sorry, everything I know about HI comes from Magnum PI, and he always said it was Paradise.
I came at it from a different perspective…..I felt certain that parenting could be done differently and better. My sibs and I refer to ourselves as feral children.
And that’s okay, too. I could have tried to do it differently and failed miserably! There were times when I despaired…..like, oh, crap, that’s my mother talking through me! I threw a rage once, and my daughter just looked at me and said, “That’s not you; that’s your mother; cut it out.” Outta the mouths of babes, you know. I learned…………
Sneaky Pete would be Pete Kleinow, also known on album covers as Cornelious Flowers, Snea,y Pete . . . one of the best pedal steel players of his time, and a huge studio player in much demand for everyone back then.
Yeah, he’s a legend with a bar in one hand and finger picks in the other.
It matters, I think, that we have a crew to trudge on ahead with. Too many people feel like there is no base of support. Power in numbers. Occupy everything….and all. Care for everyone….and all.

Here we are floating through space as hubble deep investigates it!

Indeed, the book salons this weekend were great. We, at FDL, are so lucky to have BevW making this possible. Great stuff!
I came at it from a different perspective…..I felt certain that parenting could be done differently and better. My sibs and I refer to ourselves as feral children.
*heh* Greatminds and all, ondelette, that’s Rusty picking away with Poco….! ;-)
That’s not factoring in the wind chill factor, which is what really makes it cold because it slices and dices ya….!
They have been outstanding….! I asked Bev if she’d try and schedule Trita Parsi with his new book, A Single Roll of the Dice: Obama’s Diplomacy with Iran
She’s working on it…! ;-)
Heart Of The Night…
Gotcha. Love Poco.
To even up the Sneaky Pete side, a Graham Parsons Emmylou Harris Duet for ya.

Whew! That says a lot, doesn’t it?
It sounds like you succeeded in doing it differently. I certainly hoped to do it differently, but as it happened, it never happened.
And that’s okay, too. I could have tried to do it differently and failed miserably! There were times when I despaired…..like, oh, crap, that’s my mother talking through me! This song is so appropriate for these times. Thank you!
But no Gretsch White Falcon in this one. Great band, great talent, great humans, great song. Now I’m ready for Thunderclap Newman’s only hit.
That was truly excellent. Is there a good “Bad Weather” music video anywhere? Anyone who’s passing by, hit CTuttle’s link to Rose of Cimmeron.
Cold in Conn. today.
