About Firedoglake
Hola, Suz. We have had some very nice weather for a week or more, and it is not supposed to be good tomorrow. Oh well.
hey bg — how not good are they expecting it to be?
Shite, I just saw about Robert A’s fire, wtf happened? That makes all my complaints about any and everything, lame.
all i know is what i read on his facebook post. thank goodness everyone got out ok
Yes, of course, that is what matters. Burned houses, oh so sad.
Hey, Suz and bg. Lovely on the Left Coast. Visited my grandbaby who had tonsils out a few days ago…..he’s doing great. Their older brother, an actual hair stylist, gave them haircuts….they look like little boys instead of adorable munchkins. I miss my munchkins!
The Robert is cybercasting from a room at the local Econolodge. The Sweety & The Merlin are trying to sleep. I am not making that easy for them….
how scary that the fire dept thinks the fire started in one of those plug in oil scent thingies plugged into a wall. this is not the first fire i’ve heard of where that was the cause — they should be outlawed
*heh* I doth object to the Polynesian stereotyping…! ;-)
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…!
I’m glad you all are well, Robert. I hadn’t heard about the fire. Quite scary to think about. Be well!
hey dearie — i bet they still look cute — and their hair will grow back. have they scheduled the other grandbaby’s tonsillectomy?
(((robert))) i’m so sorry dood
OMG, that is terrible. Robert, do you have insurance for this??
aloha tut — twas 1959 — they stereotyped everything back then
how’s paradise tonight?
*wow* Robert, my sincere condolences…! *g*
Hello all! on my way, slowly, north. Here’s some signs from the bay area and some clever quotations by George Bernard Shaw:
http://freewayblogger.blogspot.com/2012/01/bay-areageorge-bernard-shaw.html
did some great work in LA too. God I love this job.
Other grandbaby will be de-tonsilled in mid-March. Leo did so well. I’m knocking wood that Marco will do every bit as well. I think he has had it modeled for him. :) I never heard of babies having sleep apnea before….I’ll be glad when they can both breathe normally.
hey scarlet — how ya doing tonight?
You are my hero! Thank you for what you do.
oh that’s a nice break in between. i was thinking it was going to be one baby this week and the other the next kinda setup.
May I reccomend Liberty Mutual Home Insurance? They wasted no time sending in a crew of restoration experts to board up the house. The crew will remove everything down to even the books & DVDs to a warehouse where all items will be inventoried and professionally cleaned. with items recommended as unrecoverable discarded only with our approval to discard….
It’s a pleasure, believe me.
oh robert — that’s wonderful! i’m so glad they are not fucking with ya
I’d actually expected that the doctor would do both at once, but then I read about the trouble that some kids have. Fortunately first baby to go had no trouble. I thought the other baby would go first since he snored so bad, but it turns out that the first twin’s tonsils were so large that they couldn’t even rattle. Yikes!
Pretty Good. I’ve got a car full of signs and a bit of time on my hands, so I figure it’s a good idea to ply my trade along the freeways of the Great Northwest.
I remember when I was young, my neighbors had tonsils out, I think they did 2 kids at a time. It was hellish on the momma, I think. Of course now it is probably not the same, throwing up blood and all that. No one in my family had a tonsilectomy, perhaps because we mostly grew up with radiant heat?
holy moly — i can see why they picked him first. jeebus ya’ll will let out a huge sign of relief when the second’s surgery is over and the babies are breathing easy again
Perhaps the insurance folks will go after those plugin scented oil folks…
sorry to hear, man. never heard about those plug-in things being bad.
i like it when you have time on your hands and a car fulla signs :)
that’s great to hear.
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight?
It’s great to hear you’re well covered, Robert…! What a tragedy still…! What’s the probable cause of the fire…?
Robert, I’m so glad your insurance company is good! This will be such an “interesting” time for you and your family. Thank goodness you have insurance on your side. Best to you and yours.
i hope they do — i would think that they would so the ins co gets reimbursed for the $$$ they spend putting your world back together
I will never use one of those plug ins after hearing this story. Did the firefolk say this was something they saw before? b/c that should be a warning, who knew?
I’m enjoying a bonus round tonite with this little Butterball…! ;-)
That’s him yesterday afternoon…!
awwwww what is that he is watching?
well, i’m gonna hit the hay. again. and give that sleep thing a go. again. see you guys. soon, i think.
g’nite bfl
Football…! Gotta bring him up right…! ;-)
Great this time of year, weatherwise. we had a hard freeze a couple days this week. overnight. still wanna go back home. that’s my New Year’s resolution. just thought of it.
(laughing) why was he not wearing his jersey dood?
Ahhh. What a cutie-pie! Fun and more. Thanks for sharing!
Because, nobody can agree on what team he should be rooting for…! I’m pushing for my Broncs, but, both the Missuses are Patsies fans, and, forget about Daddy-o’s Cowboyz…! ;-)
jen’s a 49r fan and mike’s a raiders’s fan.
Adorable vid, CT. Lotta hair on that young’un.
I think I am going to hit it early tonight too. Have a great week, lln people.
That should be interesting…! ;-) Go, Niners…!
Rats! in keeping with the Hawaii motif, I was searching for a decent version of hula hula boys by warren zevon. A very beautiful and funny song about a guy who takes his girl to Hawaii and watches her run around with the hotel staff. Key line “I didn’t have to come to Maui to be treated like a jerk. How do you think I feel when I see the bellboy smirk?”
Mahalo, bg and dearie, he was born with every lock of it too…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, bg…!
g’nite bg
i’m a 9r fan too so i totally am with jen on this
Really…? I’ve never heard that Zevon tune before, Scarlet…!
Yep. The fireman said he’d had to deal with other fires caused by these plugins. He was the hero who wouldn’t let The Sweety go back into the still burning house to rescue The Merlin, but went in himself to look for him. These main coon cats are incredibly intelligent. When the fireman climbed the steps leading to the second floor, Merlin leaped out of the thick smoke and dug his claws into the hero’s arm and clung to him for dear life. The EMTs treated Merlin as a rescued baby, forcing the smoke out of his lungs and giving him oxygen….
It’s brilliant. Weird and funny lyrically and utterly beautiful musically. worth finding the studio version.. kind of raw live concerts on youtube, but give a listen.
Hey Suz and late, late night folk.
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
awwww i’m so glad he did that robert
I wouldn’t know. I’m neither margot, nor am I in Ohio. ;)
Hey, Margaret. Great to see you at LLN. I wish I could get up early enough on the Left Coast to enjoy the Diner. But I enjoy it after the fact. I was telling my son-in-law about how some of us are going to vote “Margaret”…. stay ready, Girl.
Uhhh, that’d be Peg, not Margot, Suz…! ;-)
What’s got ya up so late tonite, Peg…?
o double crap margaret.. i’m so forking sorry. i totally misread your name
jeebus, i’m sorry margaret — how ya been? tis good to see ya on lln
Yep, these are the heroes the souless Rethugs say are dragging the country down….
g’night all – lots of driving ahead tomorrow. remember, whenever anyone here says g’night, someone in Australia is saying G’day…
g’nite scarlet
Aloha, Scarlet…! Being caught twixt the two…! ;-)
Gee! Chill girlie, it’s cool. I’m just looking in on my way to bed. :)
*whew* thanks margaret — i was up before the crack of noon today and it is starting to take its toll — and i gotta get up even earlier tomorrow for the occupy supply liaison webinar
Look at the guns on this guy!

g’nite all
Sweet dreams, Suz…! It’s a 9am webinar here, if it’s any consolation…! ;-)
I hope to suit him up as center shortly, bb…! ;-) How’s your slice of Cali tonite…?
Margaret did you get to check out the David Swanson Book Salon hosted by none other than Scott Horton of Harper’s Bazaar No Comment? His book is on peace movements mostly after WWI. It move around places unseen by my eyes. The Kellog-Briand Pact 1928 against war was passed into law. he sort of explains why the latest Peace Movement has faded by surpression mostly. And if you are not for war without end you are tagged a terrorist (Ron Paul excepted).
That was a great Book Salon, bb…!
Well just North of Dearie about 200 miles. The surf has been so big from the Northern winds over 20 foot waves during morning high tides taking out some beaches. We had sunshine all day! Getting my 5×12 Livingston dbl hull painted. Varnished wood panels. 25 minutes of trampolining scheduled for tonight. (hopefully)
And how’s things for you on the mountain and Occupy Hilo going?
We’ve seen some High Surf all week too…! I love the double hulls, a lot more stable in the water…!
Hoping to see some mtn time soon, and Occupy Hilo has a full slate of activities this month, I’m hoping we’ll actually start our encampment early next month…! We shall see…!
Thee moon and the sun are flirting and full. Makes heavy seas. I have one of those wall insence devices maybe toss it. Roberterand had some bad luck and stills sees the positives. Good thing hos wife did not go back in the burning house for the cat. Inhaling that smoke can leave you with bronchitis or more.
Incisentally Echanomics, or was it, remarked about surly punks that are airport homelend security one of the shames of Bushco’s legacy.
A word of caution…the homeless tweaker’s can wreak havoc in your camp.
