Despite Iowa being my state of residence, I’m not a fan of the Iowa Caucuses (or the New Hampshire Primary just to be gratuitous) I do have respect for the people that actually work hard in the process and the voters who care enough to take part.
That is after all what Democracy is supposed to be about at least, right?
Apparently not for the folks that really matter:
Actual voters are mere speed bumps.

It’s Restore Our Failure’s democracy. We just live in it.
Good morning, pups. We have Kristof and Collins today. Mr. Kristof is “Waiting for Mitt the Moderate,” and says if Mitt Romney ends up winning the Republican presidential nomination, let’s hope that he reverts to the moderate pragmatist he was for most of his career. Ms. Collins, in “March of the Non-Mitts,” says she can’t wait to see what the Republicans do next. New Hampshire is lovely this time of year.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got a variety of bagels with cream cheese today. It’s nice to learn that the voters are considered morons and losers by the press gaggle. That seems fair, because it’s what we think of them… Have a great day.

The primaries in NH are a boon to our state’s revenues: the primaries bring in millions and millions of dollars to both big corporations and small businesses every year, not just in “primary” years.
In addition we get to meet all those candidates that we wish to meet. We have many of them in our homes sitting down wit us one to one: we get to decide first hand which are the liars, cheats, hypocrites, goof balls, money grabbers and sellouts. We, occasionally, get to meet an honest, sincere and worthy candidate. We, in NH, get to know the candidates without the polish and perfidy of the PR people and the press.
And, besides, it is fun. We do have to put up with the robo calls late at night from RWNFs such as Swine Ricky, we also have to put up with Newts acolytes (serial divorcers, batterers and misogynists) tramping door to door but we also get to laugh at yet another IQ challenged executioner from Texas and the history challenged homophobe from somewhere in the Midwest. We also get to see people at the polls that normally hide in their houses by the wood stove in winter.
Primaries allow crazies to demonstrate just how crazy they are. Allow ballot challenges to seemingly comfortable incumbents so that we may display our displeasure at his deceitfulness. And they tend to bring unwanted sunlight to those weasels (koch brothers) that would corrupt democracy.
All in all primaries are beneficial to the coffers and democracy. Caucuses, on the other hand, are meaningless…just perfect for midwesterners.
Good morning all,
Whose democracy ? What democracy?
IMO, people like Ben Smith and Andrea Greenspan are emblematic of our “adversarial media” going off the rails. In Smith’s case, he’s in it for access and the random pats on the head he gets from the politicians and in Greenspan’s case, how is it possible for someone to be professionally “adversarial” when they are having sex, (eww), with their subjects?
Eww, is right….TMI and too early in the am….;)Good Morning to you All.
Assumes facts not in evidence. LOL
Election process? Two per-approved fascists selected by Goldman Sachs and global corporations (that pay no US taxes). No thanks!
Hi Margaret. I believe econobuzz has it right, no evidence of what you fear. In fact, I have it on good authority that Alan’s involvement is strictly limited to loading fresh batteries in the vibrator.

The only out of the dark cave of ignorance is education.

Yeah, but that means the other half are smarter. Thing is, most of them are younger, too. :-P
Erased by me! Ohmmm
Considering the state of our country, and “Democracy”, there appears to be some truth to that statement!
What?!? You people thought you elected your representatives?!? Oh, how quaint! The opposite has been true for decades: the rich monied elites cherry-pick their distracted and dumb-downed voter-drones. Period. And if they don’t want a certain bloc — say the rightwing Jebus Freak vote, the welfare riddled white/black/brown trash vote, or any kind of group of voters — they have employed two sure fire ways to go about it: (1) carve up the district so said voter-drones are purged to the outskirts, (2) and deliberately smear, insult, castigate them as loopy lunatic fringe partisans 6 months before the election so they’ll get mad and stay home.
After all, they don’t need a majority – just a plurality will suffice. And as long as that pre-screened and pre-approved plurality holds their snotlockers and keeps casting more fucking retarded votes, mission accomplished. The inverted fascism of fence jockey centrist-extremism and its high church of bonehead Broderism gets rewarded and enabled with another 30 year “Stay Of Execution” to continue their crime, corruption and malfeasance unmolested by the pesky great unwashed …
It should be no surprise to anybody that these rich well-to-do shielded and protected oligarchs can claim they “hate” voters and vow to “never talk to another voter”. They’re co-dependents — on the same level as a common meth or coke junky. They live every day for their dope — their “fix” — and if you’re not anywhere useful for them to obtain and maintain their jones, then you are theveekustlink, g’bye …
