Sammy Davis, Jr’s impersonation of other vocalists performing One For My Baby.
What’s on your mind?
Hey, Suzanne…….how’s the cove?
We are moving boxes, and boxes! 196 of monographs and 96 Asian history books. We were exhausted. The great thing about this whole move is that I feel stronger than years.
hey dearie — tis a windy wet night. how’s the socentral ca coast toight?
ce! how’s ohio tonight? do ya come home each night and soak in a hot bath with epsom salts?
Hi, Suz. Had the good fortune to see Sammy in person and what a joy it was. I never saw a performer give more of himself – he sang for almost 2 hours without stopping. It was magic.
How’s that sweet grandchild?
Aloha, Suz and lln nite pups…! *g*
This Freddy tune is fresh in my head and YouTube channel… Wasted Days and Wasted Nights…
I’m so hungry by the time I get home, I’ve been cooking more than ever. Funny!
Sunny and beautiful on the coast………the perfect winter!
hey twain — he really was a great entertainer. jules is getting huge! i put up a video over at my place earlier today that jen sent me yesterday.
how ya doing tonight?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
you are burning off more calories than you are used to burning off. what’s your fav after work entree?
I’m good, thanks for asking. It was cold today but sunny. We need rain and, lordy knows, we need snow for the skiers.
the rains that were so absent last month have returned – i’ve gotten almost an inch today and there is more on the way
southern oregon has only 1/3rd the regular snow pack — heard on the news that the medford area ski resorts are closed due to lack of snow
We had some serious rain again yesterday, but, today was gorgeous…! High Surf warnings on all shores, so no real beach action, tho…!
we have a high surf advisory going here too
Black tea. And plenty of it.
i had the best hot chocolate tonight. spiderpaws sent me a bag of the hot chocolate mix the chocolate hippies make and sell at the farmer’s market for the holidays and i had not tried it until tonight.
it was fantabulous
There is nothing better than Hot Chocolate.
i gotta be me
needed some whipped cream on top that was as rich as the chocolate… the mix has shavings in addition to the powders and it is made from venezuelan chocolate
iirc the video up top is from the same show that i’ve previously featured of the rat pack
Dangit, Suze, I was just gonna skim thru and then shut down…but… what’s this about “chocolate hippies?”
How can I resist a line like that? Not to mention fantabulous hot chocolate mix…
Hi guys, hope you all had a great holiday season!! Since, I haven’t been around much, if at all.
Aaw, I hope Spiderpaws makes an appearance…! I sure do miss her, Suz…!
hey tejan — spiderpaws turned me onto their chocolates a while back. that’s what she calls them — they are artisan chocolates that sell at farmer’s marts in the sf bay area — she sent me a box of their truffles for my bday and their ‘smores’ and hot chocolate mix for christmas. their real name is barlovento chocolates outta oakland ca
how was your day today?
hey tuez — how ya been?
frank sammy and dean from 1988
rat pack at the copa ’63
Do I need to try some of this chocolate?
I was turned on to Swiss chocolate in my teens, and have refused to eat American chocolate ever since. Although my Mexican friends tell me the bestest chocolate is from SA and they had it first.
Oh, thanks. I was looking at the fancy chocolate shelf at my fancy grocery store this afternoon….thought I’d indulge myself a little.
$13.99 for a square of chocolate slightly bigger than a cubic inch caused my jaw to drop.
Prices are amazing.
I settled for a “fleur de sel caramel chocolate” that was under (sigh) $3.00. It’ll be a long time before I do that again. (it tasted very good, but…)
Other than that, spun my wheels a lot today. Cleaned up after my “bad kitty” some more, tried hard to wear him out with toy-chasing play tonight, and he is sleeping peacefully. He doesn’t seem to need as much sleep as most kitties, darn it!
Aloha, sweetie…! How was your holidaze…?
i’d not had venezuelan chocolate before but i gotta say it is forking amazing stuff… the way it melts in the mouth – tis very smooth and rich and deep and dark.
*heh* You’re the perfect servant cat owner…! ;-)
i love salty caramel with chocolate. steph sent me some ‘turtles’ she made – pretzel square with a herseys caramel kiss on top with a pecan on top of that — pop into the oven until the chocolate starts to melt… yummy!
If, by SA you mean South America, well, that’s close to right. I’m pretty sure it originated actually in Mexico, or more generally, Mesoamerica.
There were some expensive little prettily wrapped disks of Mexican chocolate at this store’s display. Only one was the typical cinnamon, the others had various flavors added, all of which escape me at the moment.
I do love imported Mexican chocolate…when I make hot chocolate these days, those disks with cinnamon added are what I use most often. Yumm.
I used to be the one who brought it to my ex-s cousins’ Christmas Eve party, which his aunt thought was pretty funny since I was nearly the only Anglo there. That was a lot of fun. Also delicious.
Too true. Sigh. Well, Southern Dragon outdoes me in his patience and tolerance. I’ve had very dark thoughts about this particular kitteh…
frankie and sammy – me and my shadow
*ooh* How simple…! ;-)
Um, maybe I should break down and try it. I so love good chocolate, and cheese, and wine, and…
The only thing that keeps my waist small is my pitiful bank account.
i know! she is turning into quite a baker. she’s still not willing to try baking breads but she’s done muffins cakes pies etc.
the box of mixed truffles i got for my bday had some wonderful pairings of wine and chocolate… the cabernet one was memorable
“After about 20 years of marriage, I’m finally starting to scratch the surface of what women want. And I think the answer lies somewhere between conversation and chocolate”__Mel Gibson
here’s the chocolate hippies website
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
Yup I mean South America chocolate. I guess I should order some. WOOT, killer chocolate.
In Florida we have lots and lots of Mexican markets but I’m not aware of anything legitimately upscale. Interestingly, though, we can get Mexican Coke, without HFCS, even at Home Depot. Go figure.
Ummm, turtles…chocolate/nut turtles, I mean…yumm, yum. Used to love those; my folks usually had them around the holidays, back in the days when giving candy was more common.
I meant to do some baking today but never got around to it. It appears that my old Cuisinart motor has finally just about died. It may handle chopping still, but dough, even batter, just stops it dead. I’m in mourning. May risk buying a new motor base on ebay…will have to think about it.
sammy and dean
…And I think the answer lies somewhere between conversation and chocolate…
*heh* More chocolate, less conversation…! ;-)
You quoted Mel Gibson, regarding women? Mel Gibson?
one of these days i’m gonna have a kitchenaide mixer
Well, it got down to 3 degrees last night. Current heatwave of 30. Took a break from editing two stories of mine that will appear in the Circle 8 Writers Group’s next anthology If….
Sorry. It’s a guy thing….
We get Mexican coke, too. It’s become quite popular for that very reason. Actual sugar for sweetener. Not everywhere, nor in large quantities, but not hard to find these days.
I notice the Barlovento site doesn’t have prices. Prolly just as well. I might be very tempted. The pictures look quite luscious.
Well, I believe I shall try to go to sleep…actually feel a bit sleepy, even tho’ it’s early for me. Could not resist a thread about chocolate, though. Thanks, Suzanne! G’nite, everyone.
Actually, we’d love it if you’d forget the conversation, chocolates, flowers, etc and just….
*brrr* how’s the leaking roof? (was it the roof?)
Yeah, bread recipes these days all seem to start with “attach the paddle blade to your stand mixer”. A new Cuisinart would be cheaper than a KitchenAid.
Oh well. I can still stir and knead by hand, but it’s a lot easier with a food processor. I bought the thing in the first place because I loved to bake bread, and couldn’t knead anymore after my neck was injured. It’s better now, but would still rather not knead for very long.
Durn it, didn’t I say I was going to bed? LLN is just irresistible..
Sweet dreams of chocolate, tj…! ;-)
A Cuisinart anything is fabulous.
i do it all by hand — i don’t have a mixer. i would love to have the pasta attachment
Stopped leaking. Maybe ice filled the crack….
so you are not looking forward to spring i take it….
Deal. Most men would rather avoid conversation with their wives or girlfriends or mistresses and just hand them a box of chocolates before bed….
I want to say one thing.
It’s strawberry pickin’ season in Central Florida.
SO SPRING IS ON THE WAY FOR THE REST OF YOU!!!!
In case you had given up.
We won’t discuss the fact I’ve had the heat on for the past 3 days.
On the contrary, I need the spring to come fast so I can get up there, diagnose and repair the problem….
mmmmm strawberries dipped in chocolate…..
Well, I enjoy the repartee before foreplay, myself…! ;-)
doncha need to catch it before everything melts and the water pours into the house?
Uh-oh…! My last comment is awaiting approval…! I thought it was OK…! ;-)
I just like it done right.
On that note, I think I should go hide in a corner.
The repartee or the foreplay…? ;-)
It’s a dribble leak, not a pouring one. Shingles and roof tar need at least 60 degrees under good sun to bond.
Hmmm, maybe duct tape….
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
it appears i’m just a consultant nowadays….
Aloha, PPD…! I seem to have fallen into ‘moderator purgatory’…! Was it something I said, Suz…? ;-)
there’s been a hiccup and i’m freeing as soon as i spot them….
mine are getting caught too — am freeing as soon as fast as i can
Mahalo, Suz…! Didn’t mean to trip it…!
just fine, thanks Suzzz — did you have a wonderful xmas and new years?
Late Late Night FDL hiccups probably due to too much digital wine over the holidays….
*heh* It’s not like ya needed additional work tonite, eh…? ;-)
i did — how was yours?
Did this hiccuping start after I quoted Mel Gibson?
nope – it was after that — sometime around the foreplay discussion
absolutely the best in years — New Year’s Eve at the Rio in Santa Cruz with Antsy McClain & the Trailer Park Troubadours — outrageous show.
santa cruz has a great music scene…. and some of my fav artists, like antsy play there regularly
Absolutely the best in many years — went with friends to the Rio in Santa Cruz for Antsy McClain & the Trailer Park Troubadours — crazy fun show.
Then CT really was the culprit! Turn in your FDL badge, CT!
the guy is certifiably crazy — his west coast band played last wed in Berkeley, last thurs in Red Bluff, last Fri in Grass Valley, and new year’s eve in Santa Cruz.
right now its hooking tut, me and ppd who wasn’t here during that discussion…..
I have had that chocolate in Berkeley. Amy and I used to go to the Monterey Market and down the street was a special chocolate store.
When ya can remove it from my cold, dead fingers…! ;-)
hey mary mac — its wonderful stuff for sure. how’s sac tonight?
Hmmm, Jane Hamsher doesn’t like foreplay. Oops, now The Robert will be corralled by the Terrible Hiccup Machine!
and mary mac now….
Dry. All anyone can talk about suddenly is the lack of rain.
congrats on snaggin the happy lucky 99 tut!!!
Did we miss something, Suzzz?
Better me than you, M’dear…! *g*
if ya scroll up ya will notice the discussion about the hiccup
Went through two little FDL time-warps or I’d have said hello sooner.
hey nonq — its warping all over the place *sheesh* how’s wi tonight?
The Mother alone knows why, but you brought me there:
Add one for the Queen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7llu2aQRSQ
hey glackin — how ya doing tonight?
*heh* My fave is still CCR’s Suzie Q…!
That was wonderful.
fingers and toes crossed that last bit of pixie dust fixed the hiccup
Hiya CT ….. I see what you mean, Suzzz. I experienced the hiccup myself, reposting the same comment because it didn’t display.
i manually freed both comments – if you scroll up you will see everything that was caught freed
Winter came and went, two days of normal cold and back to near 40 daytime temps for upcoming week.
Winding up the last days for recall. Recruiting circulators to get their friends and family to sign has pretty much negated the door knocking work. Thinking about chosing the candidates, telling the state party power-brokers to get out of the picture and have a primary to leave the decision up to the electorate for once, and keeping up the enthusiasm through whatever stalling tactics the repubes come up with next. Lots of petitions still coming in the door.
Boy, it sure makes me happy that this is happening. I have so much respect for the hard working being done there.
when’s the last day for gathering signatures?
right — reminds me of that 2012 election year slogan — suppose he was insane, and suppose he was a republican — but I repeat myself.
We will be mailing our last batch probably Jan 10, so the state organization can process, bundle and deliver to the Gov Accountability Board by the 17th. I’m betting at the office pool about 250K over the minimum needed.
With that I’ll say good night and the best to all you LLN’s. Peace, Resolve and Joy.
g’nite nonq – thanks for the update
tis about time for me to turn back into a pumpkin again peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
me, too. See yall later.
night Suzzz – be well
Sweet dreams, Suz and all…! *g*
