hey peeps — tut called me earlier and said he might be running late — but for a good cause — he’s distributing the occupy hilo occupy supply supplies (try saying that 3 times fast) so ya’ll are stuck with me for a bit
44 and dropping fast… Clear as a bell so radiation cooling is in effect.. supposed to get into the low 30′s here… Damn I came to Cali to get away from all this freezing crap…
I know Vista is flaky and my husband’s computer has W7, which I dislike. When I bought my computer I paid to “downgrade” to XP but I can’t remember what I downgraded from. The mystery/misery is hidden in the partition and I’m afraid to hit the button that accesses it. Hence, I hope the recovery disks work but for all I know the OS hiding behind the partition is what is on those disks.
*Huge Shoutout to CT & the Occupy Hilo Patriots !* Suz !
As a MacNut, I gotta agree with nahant, W7 is waaay better than XP or Vista, provided you’ve got enough memory. Here’s hoping your recovery Disks work !
We started out Mac nuts, as my husband was a photographer and Windows wasn’t up to photo manipulation early on (he had an Eagle?). But I have to use Windows for work…
The reason we never moved from OS8 to OS X is that we couldn’t afford a new copy of photoshop at the time, so we dropped out of Macs with the G3.
More than likely tuezday recovery partitions are the original OS… but recovery disks are always the OS that was used to create them… Good luck.. But then again I only care about my files and data.. Oh then again I have many tools installed and trying to re install them would take me a week or more… besides trying to find all the programs I paid for and downloaded…
That’s just it. It takes me an entire weekend to get a computer working for me, let alone tweaked. I’m big on tweakin’ which is probably why something is corrupted.
Well time for me to get horizontal myself.. Tuttle You Rock!! Glad you are attending your local GA and that they are going to do an actual OCCUPY… Just hope the gendarmines leave you all alone.. They have been brutal every where here on the mainland..
Mahalo, nahant, I do know half the cops on the force, and we’re laid back and not in their faces demanding badge #’s and all…! Pleasant dreams, nahant…! *g*
For those of you who wear dentures, how long did it take you to get used to them or the swelling in your gums to get back to where you could wear them, let alone live with them?
No one told me (though alluded to it, in retrospect) the first week(s) were going to be so bad.
Tomorrow I’ll have a diary up about today’s Port action and our GA later, in which I delivered the Occupy Supply package, which was a real morale booster…! *g*
Mahalo to the Lake, there’s truly no finer a community to be found anywhere…! *g*
mine cost an arm and a leg too.. that first week is the worst, the second is not quite as bad… ya just gotta slog through and work with your dentist on the fittings — as your swelling reduces, they will get tweaked and fit better
Actually, many of the participants live in the Mt. View/Volcano area which is at about 6,000 ft, and all the houses have fireplaces and/or heaters in them…! ;-)
I wear the lowers in public, since I can get them in and they are what shows when I talk or smile. Except they make my real teeth behind them bleed when I put them in and I can’t talk well or eat with them in.
But not having the uppers in, well actually, even when they are in, since taking my teeth out made my sinuses swell, I look like I have down’s syndrome, my face is so fat and my hair needs to be cut.
ice is your best friend right now… 20 min on 20 off will help reduce the swelling. i had a couple ice packs in the freezer freezing while i had two (one on each side) on my cheeks and just rotated the locations and packs
Tuttle!! How was your sweetie’s B-day..
knock knock!! Who’s there??
hey peeps — tut called me earlier and said he might be running late — but for a good cause — he’s distributing the occupy hilo occupy supply supplies (try saying that 3 times fast) so ya’ll are stuck with me for a bit
Oh noseses..
hey nahant – hows the sf bay area tonight? tis 30 in tillamook and 35 here *brrr*
i drove into tillamook early this afternoon and there was still white patches of frost in the shadows that almost looked like snow
44 and dropping fast… Clear as a bell so radiation cooling is in effect.. supposed to get into the low 30′s here… Damn I came to Cali to get away from all this freezing crap…
clear as a bell here too — change is finally in the forecast — rain (and possibly snow) later this week
its been an unusually clear and dry december — so far…
Will someone just shoot me and put me out of my upcoming misery?
I’ve got to reinstall the OS on my ‘puter. I can’t recall but I’m to get “upgraded” to either Vista or W7, unless my recovery disks work. I hate both.
I’m not much liking my husband’s computer either.
Go For W7 much more stable than Vista… trust me I know..
hey tuez — yikes — fingers and toes crossed your recovery disks work *shrudder*

On the one hand, it’s f-f-frizzzin’ !
OTOH, we’re caught up in the Christmas spirit(s) … *g*
i’m in the frizzin’ hand…. still haven’t gotten a single gift for anyone yet.

A friend in TO says it’s been really, really warm. She’s likin’ global warming. Told me last week roses were still blooming.
you are such a windows geek :) of course, that is what you did for a living…
True dat… but I did start with XNS (Xerox Os) then Unix (Sun OS) then Windows Bill Gates stuff…
That’s just it. It takes me an entire weekend to get a computer working for me, let alone tweaked. I’m big on tweakin’ which is probably why something is corrupted.
It was unseasonaly warm, then the frizzin’ winds started up … cuts right through !
The rest of Canada always mocks us cuz we’re always expecting tropical weather … *g*
Suz, I’ve made some Hot Rum Toddy for everyone and am off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzz … G’nite all !
thanks for the hot toddies petro — you’re the best! g’nite dood
Aloha, lln pups…! I’m back from our GA, and, we’re finally on for an actual Occupy starting this Saturday…! *g*
Mahalo, Suz…! You’re a peach…! *g*
You DO have to be careful what ya tweak..
aloha tut — petro made us hot toddies before he left…. be sure to grab one
That’s cause you all like to spend a month each winter in the tropics. So the next tropical weekend is only a few weeks away.
G’nite
I’m tenacious… I Won’t Let Go…
I do see a lot of Canucks in these here parts come January and February…! ;-) Pleasant Dreams, Petro…!
I fully admit to being only a few steps away from being dangerous. And that’s only because I learned the hard way.
Well time for me to get horizontal myself.. Tuttle You Rock!! Glad you are attending your local GA and that they are going to do an actual OCCUPY… Just hope the gendarmines leave you all alone.. They have been brutal every where here on the mainland..

What type of supplies did Hilo get? I’m assuming they weren’t the typical cold weather gear.
it took a solid month for my swelling to go down and the gums to be mostly healed — iirc the pressure of the denture helps heal the process
Aloha, tuez, to be honest, the Better Half never did survive past the second week or so…! They’re collecting dust atop our bathroom counter…!
Beanies, scarves and several blankets were sent…! The black beanies were the biggest hit…!
Oh, shit…
I spent $3500 on this…
Well they are guaranteed…
These Days…
You need beanies in Hilo? At sea level?
Maybe I should have taken a vacation rather than getting teeth.

Mauna Kea is snow-capped and I’ll be up there tomorrow nite…! brrr…

Hey did you get a good view of the lunar eclipse the other night?
Altho I wasn’t up top at the time, I did catch a chunk of it shortly after it was at full eclipse…! ;-)
Did you take pics? We really couldn’t see it at all.
God Bless the Broken Road…
Nope, I’m sorry that I didn’t, tuez…!
When You Say Nothing At All…

A talking porcupine.

*heh* That’s pretty cool, tuez…!
A classic song… Grandpa Tell Me Bout The Good Old Days…
It’s wrong to anthropomorphize them, but that is cute.
I should’ve added ‘no pun intended’, M’dear…! ;-)
Want To…
Well, I shall bid ya’ll another fond adieu, I’ve got a long day and nite ahead of me tomorrow, and I’ve got some more video and a diary to write…!
Mahalo Nui Loa to ya’ll, for being the rock to cling to during such trying times…!
Aloha Oe…! *g*
