Albrecht Durer, The Ship of Fools

The coffee’s freshly ground, there’s a wide selection of teas and the sticky buns are homemade.

Let’s start off with a couple of short reports from Real News on Occupy’s trek to the homeport of the Ship of Fools:

  • I have to wonder just how much influence DeeCee has had on the Egyptian military neodictators. “Egypt’s ruling generals have put themselves on a collision course with the country’s new parliament after declaring that MPs will not have the final say over the drafting of a fresh constitution.”
  • “Saying he wanted to avoid another three decades of appeals – and a new public forum for Mumia Abu-Jamal – Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said today he will not seek a new death penalty hearing for the convicted killer of Officer Daniel Faulkner.” The real story is that none of the PTB in Philadelphia want their dirty laundry aired in public. Stuff like rampant corruption and racism within the city’s police department and courts for decades. Remember, they’re the ones who burned down an entire block in an African-American neighborhood with a firebomb dropped from a helo.
  • Didn’t Europe get enough of this during the 1930s? “Germany and France have unveiled radical and divisive new proposals to put the euro on a new footing and settle the EU’s worst ever crisis. If agreed, the Franco-German pact will entrench a new era of two-speed Europe, making the eurozone the centre of policy-and decision-making in the EU and complicating David Cameron’s balancing act on Europe.”
  • More from Real News. Egypt and Another Day of Martyrs. “Jihan Hafiz reports that protesters in Cairo vow to continue even as recent elections reduced their numbers.”
  • I actually got something worth watching via email. Will wonders never cease? Diane Sawyer of ABC News reports on housing built with materials Made In America.
