By: Jon Walker Monday November 14, 2011 1:31 pm

60 Minutes Loses Credibility on Congressional Insider Trading Story

By: David Dayen Monday November 14, 2011 12:50 pm

I found last night’s 60 Minutes story on insider trading in Congress to be uneven, partially underwhelming and at times outright misleading. That Congress has access to insider information and can trade on that information is true, but some of the examples CBS cited were weak or unconvincing.

Only 6 Percent of Americans Call Deficit Most Important Problem

By: Jon Walker Monday November 14, 2011 12:15 pm

A new Gallup poll shows Americans most concerned about jobs and the economy, but only 6 percent think the federal budget deficit is the most import concern. By: David Dayen Monday November 14, 2011 11:30 am

By: David Dayen Monday November 14, 2011 9:30 am

Official Washington is coming around to the reality that there’s not going to be any kind of big deficit deal coming out of their Super Committee. So we’re in face-saving time. And the last-gasp proposal put forward is basically to move the deadline down a bit – but only for taxes. The spending cuts would be real and defined.
