Barry Steven’s documentary Prosecutor focuses on the efforts of Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, as he begins to try the ICC’s first case ever against Thomas Lubanga, the Congolese leader who stands accused of conscripting and enlisting children into his army. A warrant has also been issued for the arrest and trial of Sudan’s leader, Omar al-Bashir; but with no police force to enforce the warrant the ICC must rely on member states to cooperate. Support for Occupy Wall Street Unchanged Since Late Month |

The overall level of popular support for the Occupy Wall Street movement about 25 percent, has remained basically unchanged since last month according to Gallup. And the “neither” support nor oppose number has remained over 50 percent even after a month of significant media coverage.

Having witnessed brutal crackdowns on occupations in Oakland, Portland and New York, where Occupy Wall Street began and inspired citizens to launch occupations in their own community, legal teams are going to court to obtain court orders to protect occupations from being forcefully dispersed suddenly in the dark of night. Reporters tend to only report when there are arrests. Anytime there are arrests, it is said there were “clashes with police and protesters.” Rarely do reporters note how police escalate a situation to the point where force is likely to be used.

The effort to recall Wisconsin’s Gov. Scott Walker recall is statewide, which brings in a lot of low-hanging fruit for signatures: the liberal bastion of Madison, for example, or the Democratic-rich city of Milwaukee. So it’s not really a surprise that Democrats are able to gather a hefty amount of recall signatures in a short amount of time. But early results are impressive.

David Coombs, lawyer for PFC Bradley Manning, the accused whistleblower to WikiLeaks, reports the Army has finally scheduled a date for his pre-trial Article 32 hearing. It will begin on December 16. Except for when classified information is being discussed, the public will be able to attend the hearing.

In the UC-Davis pepper spraying case, two unidentified police officers have been placed on administrative leave, and chancellor Linda Katehi announced some vague investigation into the incident. The President of the University of California, Mark Yudof, has now released a statement expressing shock and dismay at the events in Davis.
