So when Occupy folks start once again being asked what exactly they want, I hope they have at least one ready response: The right to be here.

FDL Book Salon Welcomes Michael Hiltzik, The New Deal: A Modern History |
| By: TobyWollin Saturday November 26, 2011 1:59 pm |
A president elected in reaction to the economic and political environment. A president hated on the left for lack of bold action and accused by the right of being a socialist. A president who appears to struggle with any sort of confrontation within his own Administration and who appears to have continuing issues with quality of staffers. A president accused of promoting class warfare and ‘uncertainty’. A president with a justice on the Supreme Court who opposes him named Roberts. A president with a wife who is, to many, as controversial as he is. A president and an Administration during a time when bold decisive action is required, but who seem to suffer from chronic timidity.
Obama or Roosevelt? Both?
Occupy LA: “Oh No! We Won’t Go!” Mayor Says “11/28 at 12:01am Park Will Be Shut Down” |
| By: Lisa Derrick Saturday November 26, 2011 1:05 pm |
At a press conference this afternoon broadcast live on ABC 7 (a truncated version here), Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said. “The Occupy encampments have changed the one-sided conversation, the movement has awakened the country’s conscience…After this initial success the movement is now at cross roads. It is time for Occupy LA to movement from this piece of parkland.”
He cited public health, public safety and the security of encampment.
On Contraceptive Coverage, It’s Not Up to Obama to Decide What is More “Catholic” |
| By: RHRealityCheck Saturday November 26, 2011 12:10 pm |
The President seems unaware of the fact that Catholic disagreement with the ban on birth control goes far beyond the average Catholic lay-person. Some bishops, many priests, religious orders, theologians and church-related groups have publicly and privately disagreed with blanket prohibition of contraception. All of them, individuals and institutions, are free to follow their conscience on contraception and there is ample evidence that many of the very groups asking for an exemption from the new federal regulations have not followed church regulations religiously. Some within the organizations may agree with the ban, but not all, and none are required to do so.
Euro Watch: Stunning Incompetence Forces Dire Stress Tests for Banks but Not for People |

It’s always interesting to watch PBS News Hour’s exchange between David Brooks and Mark Shields. After all, they represent the 0.1 percent of Beltway elite conventional wisdom. So what did they note the Beltway has to say about the nightmarish Euro train wreck and the careening engines and cars headed our way? Nothing.

Penn State, Occupy, Tahrir Square, and The Thanksgiving Question |

This is not right. You are not alone. This must change. With these three phrases, the mighty are brought down and the lowly lifted up.
On this Thanksgiving Weekend, I am thankful for all who stand up to bullies.
Respect Mah Forced Pregnancy Dickishness |

Since you are going to go to Hell anyway, you might as well as go all in by dispensing with the Planned Parenthood ‘diplomacy’ and telling the Steve Ertelts in your family, to, oh I don’t know… “Why don’t you mind your own fucking business you panty-sniffing twatwaffle” or the ever popular, “What? Aren’t there already enough kids in the world for you to molest?.” Not only will the subsequent uproar change the direction of the conversation, but the dinner may come to a premature ending meaning more pie for you.
Come Saturday Morning: Occupy Protesters and Black Friday Campers |
| By: Phoenix Woman Saturday November 26, 2011 6:45 am |
Occupy protesters: Frowned upon by the elites, despite largely peaceful nature. Black Friday campers: Welcomed by the elites, despite marked tendencies towards violence and crime. What’s wrong with this picture?

I’m often astonished with the creativity, intelligence and inquisitiveness found among FDL readers so don’t be afraid to show off a bit.
