Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band — Merry Christmas Baby, on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, December 12, 2002.
zed a rooni
one more week.
hey wmd — getting nervous?
Merry Christmas baby… With some soul…
hey that guy — i love that bb king version. how ya doing tonight?
I let our big girl cat Billie lay on my shoulder too much and now I have a pinched nerve. Fucking killing me. Hard to get comfortable.
Hi Suzanne and LLNers. I guess the happy shoppers shot their wad, so to speak, on Black Friday. I did some shopping this afternoon and didn’t have to stand in any lines at all! I do not like Christmas shopping at all, but this was actually rather fun.

Let’s not discuss Xmas, as I haven’t gotten over turkey day. And won’t until sometime in April.
my left shoulder has been giving me pains — really messing with my sleeping since i’m a side sleeper
i hope yours feels better soon thatguy
hey dearie — how’s oxnard tonight?
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
hey tuez — how was your day?
LA Occupy is launching some very pretty fireworks…..
I went to Costco on Black Friday and found it to be less inhabited than a typical Friday morning. Later in the day I went to a Radio Shack in the mall and, well, parking was easy. I’m really questioning the numbers for last Friday.
Lovely, Suz. How’s your cove?
36 degrees, wintery cold finally moving in for the longhaul. Still nursing a sprained knee….
warming up — tis 50 at the moment which is warmer than it was when the sun was shining today (47). gotta storm moving through
ouch and ouch — cold always makes those aches ache worse.
It is curious, isn’t it. Everywhere I went today I found easy parking and no crowds at all. I do not like crowds and I do not like shopping, so this was a very good day! You know how you sometimes have a magical day…. it was like that….I found wonderful (and inexpensive) things for people that make me happy (both the people and the gifts.) I’m in a good float right now.
i was at safeway on friday and it wasn’t bad at all. i heard grocery stores were the only sane stores to go to on black friday
The Merlin (main coon cat) insists on sleeping on my bum knee. Ouch!
Yes, it is curious. I mean, I don’t think Costco shoppers are apt to behave like those in Walmart, but if Costco ain’t rockin’ things aren’t too rosy either.
icing the knee is guaranteed to keep the cat off — a hot pack, on the other hand, is a surefire cat attractor…
But icing attracts the dog who is apt to be heavier than the cat.
bailey cat weighs more than token does
that’s cause your dog is a token :)
On edit: I remember what you said about your dog’s name.
true dat — he’s not really big enough to be considered a dog
the little ones, though, ….
he really is a cutie :) and he doesn’t take up hardly any room in the bed
no, but pain level seems to be up.
your hip knows what’s coming and is getting its last hurrahs in so to speak. i always had an increase in pain before surgery
the little one’s take up the whole bed
little guy has decided lately to sleep sideways with his back up against the pillows and his head hanging off the side
Got thrown offline for a bit….yes, I was in CostCo taking my dad for hearing aid repair on Monday….and there was virtually no one there…I found it amazing…and even a bit troubling. Maybe our troubles are worse than we know.
It’s my brain, but yeah last hurrah for sure.
knowing that its the last hurrah made it more tolerable for me – knowing ‘the end’ was in sight
HUH? RT @OccupyIntel: CBS just stated they are “working with law enforcement” & not showing scenes they are “not allowed to show.” #OccupyLA
Hey Suz and lln weather round-up crew.
Daytime highs to 40F and overnight lows at 20 F for the next week. Winds a howling Tuesday near 25 mph. Typical end of November. Dug out the insulated work boots and coveralls, winterized the garden tillers, cleaned garden tools for storage, test fired and inspected the snowblower.
No aches and pains to report. Made two gallons of veggie stew yesterday, and partially consumed that for supper, new batch of sourdough mixed and will be ready for baking two big loaves in about 6 hours.
Hot tea before me. Recall going well. From Ruth Conniff at the Progressive.
yup. I’m hanging in there. Ready for it to be past.
hey nonq — are ya all set for winter or do ya have more to do? that soup and sourdough combo sounds wonderful!
Dammit. Walter Cronkite died, and somewhere a Tiffany Network executive breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to himself: “About time. Now we can get down to business.”
hey newton — the fucking eye blinked
how was your day?
NPR and other national syndicated news pushing the lead-up to the forced breakup of the occupiers since last Friday. Rehash of Seattle and how dangerous things were then for the overwhelmed police force, blah, blah and who knows what we might encounter this time crap…
totally fucking blows when the media reports only the authorized news
how Pravdalike of cbs
I’m proud of the fact I’m out there protesting and let everyone know it. Even my much younger cousins who are in the army and one is a major in army intelligence (oxymoron aside). The more people who realize who the 99% are the better.
With that, I’m going to bed.
Blinked is right.
All is well in these parts, thank you. Freezing but very nice.
from alternet on twitter:
That’s the kind of agreement reporters make when we’re at war. RT @LAObserved: Fox 11 also says it agreed not to talk about LAPD movements.
I’ve been a bit lax on the jukebox lately.
i’ve not heard that in decades dood. thank you — brought back such wonderful summer memories
you been stocking up on quarters for when you are recovering?
umm-umm, Occupy, riot cops & a klondike Bar…..
I’ll let you know if I’m ready when it gets here. ;)
That is my general annual plan of action on this season. Predictions from University of WI professors saying cold and above average snowfall.
la nina here so our weather dood says wet wild and windy
Yea, but I’m going to be a bit loopy from narcotics.
Time for me to sleep. Good night all.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! From atop the mtn again…!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Not too shabby, no winds so it’s pretty nice outside…! I’m watching/listening to the Occupy LA livestream too…!
Evenin Suz an all ya other GFH. WE got us some warm weather it’s in the 20′s. Might go into the 30′s in the morrow. Break out the short sleeves.
hey homer — short sleeves my tushkie — that’s still forking cold in my book.
how long do ya think it will last?
hey ppd — how was your day?
Suz, I saw your pics of Jujube on FB…! ;-)
the videos? she sure is cute and totally working on speed :)
for those who didn’t see them: video one and video two
If ya over dress ya get weak to the cold. You build to it. The cold can be nice till your hands don’t move then you act.
she was wearing her raiders jams to be supportive of her dad, a big raiders fan
dood, i’m an old dog — hard to learn new tricks *laughing* i’m sure to you 20′s is warm but dood, i’m a wuss
Cute as a button!
she’s still a bit hesitant but she’s gonna take off any day now and jen’s gonna need her running shoes. julianna has quite a mischievous smile
Suz i am a wuss also. Why you think i live in the banana belt. We should be in the 30′s but now we have had a spell of single digits for two weeks. Climate sucks. I went to SF in Sep and it was fog and 50. I could not have been happier.
jeebus, they really are acting like its a war:
LAPD w/be “moving in shortly” embedded ABC reporter says #occupyLA
since when did media ‘embed’ with police???
*laughing* thanks dood — i gotta say, i love having all four seasons (which i did not have when i was in the sf bay area) and have decided that if its gonna be cold enough to snow, then snow dammit — i love to look at snow — through a window :) the eye candy is enough to make me forget about how cold it is if i stay inside…
Where you been, Suz? They’ve been embedded ever since their salaries became corporate issued….
Yup loves me them big ole windows. Gotta watch whats what in LA.
just don’t recall embedding with the police being so blatantly bragged about before
the militarization of our police includes using terms used during war now
kevin has a live blog upstairs about occupy la and philly evictions
i’m gonna head upstairs to follow kevin’s live blog
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
Why not. Ever since the end of the cop on the beat, police across the country have been militarized. Heck, they send swat teams to deal with spats between husbands & wives now, out of fear of a cop or two getting hurt. I’m sure those domestic disputes can be potentially dangerous, but all that overkill just makes the cops look foolish & cowardly, and the degradation of respect that is a result just makes their jobs more dangerous, not less….
Just punched the dough down and wet the linen towel over the top of the bowl. I looked at the (dial up) first couple seconds of each of the vids. What a cutie.
I find it very hard to crawl, myself, when I am in the bag.
Ever since MSM embedded in Iraqaplypse Now …. way last decade.
Getting late this morning. Time for some shut eye. Thanks Suz, pups.
It’s not like we did not know what was going to eventually happen with the occupy the parks. Like welcoming the impeding end of the year, perhaps it is time for regrouping and reassessing.
