Adele – Someone Like You
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Hey, CT, how’s Paradise? I trust you did not shop-til-you-dropped. Better, for sure, to spend time cuddling with the family.
Hey Tuttle & Dearie how was your Holiday?
MrCE tells me that Adele is having surgery and will not sing for a year?
Aloha, Dearie…! I’m up top of Mauna Kea tonite, working for Subaru…!
On Turkey Day, I was at my daughter’s cuddling with grandson…! I didn’t spend a dime on Black Friday, but the better half, daughter and (eventual)son-in-law we’re all ringing bells for the Salvation Army, I babysat…! ;-)
Aloha, nahant, how’s your slice of Cali…?
Yeah, I’d heard similar things, hadn’t heard that she’d be out a whole year, but, that would make sense…!
Aloha, Chris…! How’s Ohio tonite…?
Nice! My baby-girl and I did the holiday feast for my twin brother, his step-son, and our father, as well as babygirl’s husband and twinboys. We had such fun. My brother brought the traditional clam dip…our dad’s recipe, which he pronounced “close enough”…
Sent daughter & family on the road south to see her father and his family, while I stayed to wash dishes and watch hours and hours of food shows. By 8 p.m. I’d washed/dried/put away all the dishes and had settled in with a white bread/mayo/turkey sandwich. Heaven.
Almost as cold as your mountain top… Aren’t grandkids just grand??? Unfortunately mine all live to damn far away to see on a regular basis.. Second in line just turned 10 on Saturday and the eldest will be 11 on 12-16… They sure do grow quick…
We are listening to Adele — MrCE has been a secret fan! He has this love for women who sing, well women who sing and record. Getting a bit colder here, but no where normal cold temps for almost December. Shocking, to tell the truth.
Hey, CT, Dearie, Na & CE. After this last mild night, winter digs into Pennsylvania….
Cold coming? I’m off to look…hey how are you?
It’s amazing how much he’s grown just in the (almost) 4 mos…! ;-)
We have had 80+ weather in south central California….and I’m not complaining! We had fog, light fog, heavier fog, crushing fog, and then more fog at the beach from March until September….this recent warm weather is well deserved and deeply appreciated!
Pampering an injured knee. My first painful experience with old age….
Aloha, The robert…! A big storm a’brewing…?
Naw, just high temps of the freezing kind….
Sure hope the Occupiers up there are prepared for that kind of weather…
*ouch* I hope ya heal quickly…!
Empathy. Reality. Care. Hugs.
I’m always nursing one. The last one, before renting a 4th floor Paris apartment, almost ruined our vacation. I nursed it with frozen peas, but it was such a downer. I could barely walk up those flights.
The Sweety (a RN) is certain I tore some tendon with an unpronouceable name, and that surgery is my destiny….
I, however, refuse to believe her….
Hilo hasn’t seen 80 degrees in weeks, barely climbing into the 70′s at sea level…! 8-(
Anterior Cruciate Ligament…?
Or did she say it was a ligament? Doesn’t matter much. The pain is the same, I reckon….
Don’t delay, I’d say. Get tests; bite the bullet; get repairs as needed. My 94 year old dad was telling me about a woman who lives near his apartment who recently had knee replacement….after years of pain. Dad said, “She looks like a new person; I’ve never seen her so happy.” Take care now so you might avoid worse. Knees are so damned tricky. But, I have to say that everyone I know who has had a knee replacement is amazingly happy about it. I’m more about early care, if possible.
It’s a DRAG GETTING OLD
Mine is much repaired right now. But Advil is always at hand. MsCE in town, and looks like she might be staying. Interesting!
Surgery is the only way to mend it, if you tore it…! You should get it checked out in any event…!
Meniscus Tear – The Facts, Options and Cures
Climate change to believe in. I am going for a cold night jog to make up for the laziness I have enjoyed lately we are in the high 40s. Sounds like families all had wonderful camaraderie!
My babygirl had ACL repair at 19….skiing disaster. Rehab was painful…I enlisted friends to come in and keep her company while the machine worked her knee. But at mid-30s, she doesn’t even notice it…I’ve never heard her complain of knee pain. Her husband, on the other hand is ready for another “knee scrape” (6th, I think)…. take care of your knees!!!
Aloha, bb…! That would certainly be reinvigorating…! ;-)
Speaking of the weather….my friends and I walked in the early evening along our regular route through the park and down to the beach…the Pacific was peaceful but throwing lovely waves… beautiful after sunset clouds…no wind…cool but not crisp. We stopped just to soak in the red/orange last of sunset. Grace.
Hmmm, thanks. I’m going to order that knee pack. Anything to avoid surgery….
Oh, can you please adopt me!
An interesting combo… Adele and Sugarland…
You can come out for a visit!
The wife is healing from tearing hers… She was just getting up out a kids size chair at her music school… So far it is healing but she says it bothered her tonight at rehearsal she plays oboe , first chair in the Palo Alto light symphony.
*heh* And here I’m trying to convince her to come to Hilo…! ;-)
I haven’t seen the ocean for at least five years. My parents gave up their house in Lewes, DE and I haven’t seen the sea since then. I miss it so.
You guys are so cool! FDL is such a wonderful place to experience interesting people doing fascinating things. Lake love :)
Here is a group Paul Krugman turned me onto: The Civil Wars – You Are My Sunshine
Come to the middle of it…! ;-)
And here is a tribute song for Michael Jackson
This may happen — we are looking at our miles and such! After seeing the film, Descendants, I really, really, want to spend our vaca in Hilo.
I lived in the midwest for 25 years and missed the Pacific constantly…when I finally got the chance to come home, I grabbed it. Have loved every moment of walking on the beach, snuggling in the fog, listening to the waves. Come on out! One of the things I love best is that it gets cold every night….so I can have a fire. Perfection!
Lake Love rocks!
Hiya, pups. Warming up in Wasilla. up to 12 plus F today. Cleaning my shop.
I could’t live so far away from the ocean that I couldn’t get in in under an hour… Of course I can be at the bay in 10… But of course after growing up in Nahant what do ya expect.. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&cp=6&gs_id=1m&xhr=t&q=nahant&tok=MoMO2skfotK4ic0sAEgC5A&pq=meniscus+tear&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1440&bih=775&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x89e36b93090cbe23:0x813016fc7b59c986,Nahant,+MA&gl=us&ei=BoLUTs3CKILeiALVyvDIDg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=3&sqi=2&ved=0CEUQ8gEwAg
Lots of Lake love back at you Dearie ♥♥♥♥
We do share a lot of it here at the Lake don’t we???
landlocked. 8 hours to salt water.
Aloha, ET…! How’s the missus doing with her leg…?
Um-Um, pumpkin pie and vanilla Ensure….Make me feel much closer to my first social security check….
Tsk, tsk, ya busted the margins…! ;-)
I saw that Guess I have’ta go sit in a corner…… But that was a big one right??
So late pups — working today.
Niters CE sleep well..
She’s out working with teachers in villages around Bethel this week. She got one of those dial-your-best-angle braces from our bone doctor before T-Day, and seems to be doing better every day. Nor surgery contemplated.
Heading to Montana in a couple of weeks to be with my other Girlie and her clan. I love the Big Sky country, too. Last year I was in maybe 11 degree weather… but it’s dry and very tolerable. Interesting to go from 70s to 11s in a day. I do like variety!
*heh* When ya do it, ya do it big…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Chris…!
That’s great news, ET…!
Did ya see my latest M.E. diary…?
It seems I’m now a Jew Hater…! *gah*
We’re all in the ‘no-win zone’ these days…
Exactly. The light wind was a Santa Ana so not crispy cold. Had the streets to myself and re-aquanted with a route I and my dog used to take. Very nice, not long little up and down and got n some deep breathing. Circuit arond the peninsula with Morro Bay then South hill lights. Need to do this often morning and evening very nice.
Seaglass is one of the Israel First crew and has assailed me and ET before on our Palestinian posts…!
How long is the route, a couple of miles…?
Yes, CT, it is possible to despise the brutality and property thefts of the Israeli government, yet harbor no prejudice against the millions of Jews who have no part in what that government does….
It is not anti-Semitic to deplore the crimes of the few, only to judge poorly the many in spotlighting those crimes….
I just commented in your defense.
yet harbor no prejudice against the millions of Jews who have no part in what that government does….
Hmm…maybe 2 miles I run with toes shoes now so harder contact on the pavement. (five toe vibrams)
Except going along to get along…the sore knee of the muddle east.
How are those ‘glove’ shoes…? I’ve seen them, but, hadn’t inquired…!
I have some reports saying they are bad for your feet.. But one of my VA docs wears them.. Oh well difference of opinions…
Supposed to make your bio mechanics better. Some martial artists use them or go barefoot. I like the hard rubber protection. Takes patients to get all your toes in right spots. How is the mtn tonight?
Hi Nahant…looks like you all are going for a great holiday season. Wonder if your hawk family will rejoin you. A young women I saw yesterday told me a Red Tailed Hawk landed on her arm they flew off. She was thrilled by that close encounter.
Talk about rounding the circle…..that sentence, BB, is a something to behold…and to, well, think on. Good stuff.
Mighty cloudy and windy, twice the first shift headed out, then was sent right back in, they’re on the third attempt now, and, if they’re still out there at the top of the hour, my shift will relieve them…!
Oh….a challenge….do keep us informed!
Holy shit they are twice the size of the Coopers Hawk.. I don’t think I would want one landing on my arm… Just think about the Tallons.. Just check out this fledgling sitting on my brick BBQ
They can’t Lase through the clouds, so they send us in if it’s too cloudy…!
I should add they can still observe the cosmos with all the other instruments they have…! ;-)
A beautiful bird, nahant…!
Oh, I read about the wind and thought they maybe sent the crew back in because, well, you know, maybe they cared. Didn’t realize that it was because it was just a waste of time. Oh, well………. carry on.
Here is your forecast on the MTN 10 degees colder than we are on the central CA coast..http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=19.834538695076784&lon=-155.45860290527344&site=hfo&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=text
Well time ta crawl in ta bed with my Lady Love… See ya all later… Oh and it’s SouthernDragon’s B-Day tomorrow so be sure and send him best wishes at the 5 a.m. pst post…
*heh* Nice try…! That’s Bradshaw, which is about 5k feet below me and about 30 degrees warmer…! Here’s where ya go for the summit…! ;-)
She did remark that the grip was impressive and left a mark for a while. The red tail was also spectacular. They can keep down the rodent population pretty well. The balances of nature are very interesting so self containing.
Pleasant dreams, nahant…!
Thanks for the heads up, nahant….so great that SouthernDragon stepped up to do the morning diner…..I’m not up at 5 a.m., but I read it later in the morning and I’ll add a late note.
Just part of the family in 2010.. The parents were breeding in the trees behind the house this spring but they nested somewhere else.. I sure was hoping to get a bunch more pictures.. Oh well they will do what They want… The male did stop by a few times to see me but not like back then when he would follow me around the yard…
I’ll be up at that ungodly hour and shall wish him hippo birdies then…! ;-)
Thanks, CT…..tho why are you up at that ungodly hour? I do, when I read the morning post later, see that many of our most amusing/interesting FDLers are up and about … even those, like demi, who are in the dark still… but I am a night owl, so it’s just not in my nature.
And, Suzanne would understand, I do so like the magical 100……..
Well, I need to head out for the next hour…! Mahalo nui loa for the great company tonite…! *g*
I have to be at the Board of Sups tomorrow 9am so gotta do a three minute write up on affordability for our sky rocketing utilities. So Buenos Noches all.
Great salon, CT….happy skies to you.
Congrats on both the 99 and the 100…! ;-)
Again, Mahalo for the great salon, ya’ll…! *g*
Beautiful song. Thanks for posting it.
Sometimes I forget. Through all the war, violence, greed, division, mayhem, corruption, unfairness, lack of responsibility and my own anger at it… Through my own failures and dissapointments… sometimes I forget to see things that make life worth living.
“Never mind, I’ll find someone like you… I wish nothing but the best for you.”
You know, regardless of the way cynical “leaders” have exploited the hopes and dreams of our people there is always a spirit of possibility that will never disappear as long as we continue to look for it. And work to share that sentiment “I wish nothing but the best for you” with others.
Good to know what you’re fighting for.
