About Firedoglake
Wow, oldie but goodie…
Suz!
newton! glad ya liked it. how ya doing tonight?
Aloha, Suz and lln pups, there is some snow up here on Mauna Kea…!
aloha tut — glad to hear the road was open dood :) how forking cold is it up there tonight?
Gypsy Opera!
I’m good, yourself? Cold & wet?
This is a very good ‘toon. It screams, “We worked really hard on this one.” The restoration is spiffy, too.
it was the only mighty mouse cartoon nominated for an oscar — the artwork is much better than other mighty mouse cartoons are.
the scene with the violin playing was so lifelike…
I don’t recall seeing MM getting smooched after a bold rescue before…
Imagine how that would go over today.
-1 degree Celsius, It’s actually not too shabby outside tho, I’ve already been outside for two hours, as long as the wind stays calm, it should be a decent night…!
We have gypsys at OccupySLO. Transiemt homeless. What a coincidence we need a Mighty Mouse to keep the druggies and drunks away.
i thought it unusual too… from his wiki (click on mighty mouse link in the post):
Hi, Gang. Some rain on the south central coast again. This isn’t our rainy season, but the rain is well received. Took the little boys to the Santa Barbara Farmers Market this a.m. with my daughter. The kids snacked their way through….. and we bought berries (straw&black) more tiny peppers to fry, some wonderful sweet Italian peppers, good fresh Italian olives from a Paso Robles olive grower, goat cheese, salted dried lemons (can’t wait to see how those work with chicken or fish). I do so love the Santa Barbara market!
am glad there is no wind — it always makes the cold worse.
i had a storm blow though this afternoon — not bad, just a typical november storm. got about 1/2″ of rain and the wind wasn’t too bad.
Andy Kauffman was on to something.
hey dearie — our farmer’s mart is seasonable from june until september. i wish we had a year round one
did you snack your way through right alongside the wee ones?
Evening all,
Took my daughter (16 years old) and her friend to magic Mountain a few weeks ago. I’m 62.
Yeah, I know, I started late.
I figured I’d stand in line with them and take pictures. I wasn’t a big fan of roller-coasters.
We got in line for the first one, called X2 I think. The two girls min front of us looked at me kind of funny and one said I should re-tie my shoes so they won’t come off, and then they both laughed!
Ha! I ended up loving it and for that day and the next we rode till we couldn’t walk without looking drunk. Great trip!
O
M
G
i had totally forgotten about this
hey waynec — ohmystars that sounds like such fun! i took my firstborn on her first roller coaster ride when she was 6 weeks old. she was strapped to a chest pack and it wasn’t one of those upside down ones :)
what did you like about them best?
Wow, so like, Mighty Mouse is a player?!
No wonder I’m all fucked up in my social role model expectations. I can remember loving Mighty Mouse as a little girl.
It means I wanted to have sex with Mighty Mouse, right? There’s huge moral commandments against that, right?
he’s a rodent
Isn’t it funny how the flotsam in our heads pops back into relevance?
Howdy Dearie. I’m hungry. Again.
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
I did! Some wonderful cheeses from a local cheese maker…I’ll come back and buy more. The berries were so good! We bought berries for the boys to eat as they walked along with us. We were looking for the Padron peppers that we bought last week (like fresh pepperoncinis…which fried up in hot olive oil and were absolutely delicious!)… but not there this week. Bought some other small peppers that will fry up also….just not as lusciously plump as the ones from last week.
I’m so tempted to ask a question rudely….have an itch in my funny bone…but I’ll just ask, “How’s your coq au vin coming along?”
that wasn’t rude at all dearie…
Today it rests in what turned out to be a slightly under-sized dutch oven in the bottom of the refrigerator. I had to resist the very strong temptation to lift the lid and poke around.
Tomorrow afternoon (after 2 days marinating) it goes into the oven for a couple of hours, and then the sauce-making phase begins.
Aaaaahhhhhh, brownies and a cup of decaf laced with Pyrat rum (the good stuff).
REAL brownies…heh heh heh
hey thatguy — well i don’t have to ask how you are doing *laughing* sounds like a much better day than yesterday was for ya…
Hi Suzanne!
I liked that I could do something really fun with my daughter and her friend.
And they made me sit in front for the second ride and I loved that too.
From then on I was hooked and we sat in front of every one after that.
Hola Suz and all, it is a windy night tonight, but the house is solid like a rock here. Solidarity with Portland tonight, I remember how it goes. . .hope no one is hurt.
I know. I’m still laughing about one of the little boys watching the Two Fat Ladies saying that it wasn’t really a chicken, it was a cock. Juvenile (well, really 3 year old humor), but I am so easily amused. And I like that about me! :)~
openhope,
I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I read your comment, it would be all over my laptop!
I too loved Mighty Mouse — and I had no idea back then *giggles*
i was making my member calls today and my downstairs neighbor came walking across my deck towards the front door carrying something heavy in her arms. i excused myself from the call with a ‘be right back’, answered the door and discovered she had a huge tray of freshly caught crab and was wanting to share.
i’ve now got a large glass rectangular dish full of already cooked crab legs and joints ready to shell in the fridge chilling.
last week she shared fresh caught salmon.
mmmm brownies…
Legend he came to be, I never liked the dude, or his schtick.
Neither does my honey.
I never liked Taxi either tho, or any other like it.
Boring.
Wow, I just tried to call the better half and she’s still not back from the Salvation Army… Our local Jaycees donated 30 turkeys to the SA and they’ve been cooking and shredding them since early this morn, they actually started cooking them last nite…!
i am torn between the front and back seats. in the back row, ya kinda get that ‘lifting off’ feeling whereas the front seat has that whole ‘falling off a cliff’ thing going…
Nice!
Got bib?
hey bg — how’s nm tonight? so far things have been cool between occupy ad pdx cops. there are multiple sources saying that if pdx acts tonight, it may not be at the stroke of 12:01am.
on the other hand, there are also reports of several garbage and dump trucks arriving in the area per twitter
I HATE people like you.
Good tho . .
*G*
i like that about you too :) i’m the same way… sometimes, the most juvenile thing will just set me off laughing
He sparkled with weird on live television, though.
I like weird.
ellie! how’s PA tonight?
hey larue — how’s sac tonight?
Hey, you’re up late. How you doing, Elliott?
Fabulous! What a great neighbor. I am so longing for some dungeness crab.
how long ago was she due home?
i’m thinking garlic lemon butter and plenty of towels :)
It is cruel and unnecessary for the forces against the Occupation to steal tents, warm clothes and supplies. We broke our stuff down, but we did not have many tents, just the food tent. We do not have the presence that we had prior to the arrests, even though the media is paying more attention. It is a difficult path to keep it going when the ground is ceded.
hehehehe *smooches back atcha dood*
Very blustery and cold. We pulled the last bed of beets. I’ve got a bunch in the smoker with a chunk of alder.
After this it’s planting garlic and then waiting until spring.
Except for the 29 chickens………………..
Melted butter, red chili flakes, garlic slivers, dippin crab stuff.
Wine, red or white, of yer choice.
Sourdough garlic bread schmear style with butter, garlic, sea salt, reg parm grated cheese, maybe some fresh chopped basil . . . cheesy garlic bread.
Oh yeah, let’s sip n sup.
Yeah, I’m a hater . . . . LeSigh . . . lol
it totally pisses me off that the private property is hauled off to the dump instead of proper chain of custody property documentation being done to ensure that peeps are able to retrieve their belongings after arrest
Apparently, PDX is not going to follow the traditional by now seperation of volunteer arrestees from the others. All are taking that defiant stand tonight to provoke hundreds of arrests.
It’s about time….
Oh, smoked beets! Yum! Who knew LLN would be so delicious?!
The rum is nice, too. >:-D
I finally have time and ingredients to make real brownies. Man, googling Cannabutter is a 4 hour time drain. I still don’t know what to do! Too much information, too many options.
Starve them out, thieve them out, beat them out, wait them out.
There’s not a lot left in their bag of tricks.
I hope no one is hurt. Did you all see gw’s account of Austin yesterday? Very sad.
There is absolutely no legal statute that permits the unwarranted destruction of property belonging to someone simply arrested for a misdeameanor and who has not yet plead guilty nor been found such by a court of law….
Yeah. Nice calm day, some napping and some good mindless entertainment via Netflix. Streaming is pretty cool.
Hey Newt, can the Niners beat the Giant Weenies?
i’ve got a roasted beet in the freezer… one of the bigger ones left. they sure tastes good. i’ve not tried smoking them…
when do the chickens join the pantry?
i’m thinking crab and maybe some of that guy’s brownies…
i know.. i just don’t see how they forking get away with destruction of private property…
Hey ThatGuy, The Giants got by the Pats last week.
I would forgive a close loss, but not a rout.
Six to five and pick’em.
Harbaugh has utterly surprised me.
This is ugly. It is a difficult path. I have such deep respect for the people doing this.
I’m off to read and sleep. LM has stopped reading the newspapers and does not even ask about them, this is new the last 3 weeks. She was always on about the papers, noticed if one was missing and kept tabs on what the kids in the hood were doing in their sports. . .I guess we know where this goes.
Take care everyone, keep the peace!
HST was weird.
TW3 was weird.
Smothers Brothers were weird.
Dick N Dan n their wall were weird.
The Beats were weird, as was On The Road, and Lord Buckley.
Kauffman, was the progenitor of the likes of dull, staid and 20 something comics that never cut it, but held many a night time tv show host slot.
There is a death and dearth amongst political history and comedy that came from the 80′s and such. They all failed, and continue to fail.
N sadly, THEIR offspring are as bad and worse . . . .
Dumbed down, all of them, since the 70′s.
On MSM, that is . . . on cable and in the underground venues, there is talent and comedic justice still . . . ;-)
Yes. I read it. Very sad indeed, but the unlawful destruction of #OWS property should be met with civil suits for damages & compensation. When authorities come to realize such unlawful & willful destruction of Occupy property will cost plenty tax dollars, the practice will cease….
g’nite bg
ok
*G*
A lot better than Dingleberry, eh?
It’s worth noting that while Harbaugh has the reins now, Mike Singletary built this club.
Oh yeah . . . OHHHHH yeah . . . brownies, too? ;-)
heh, I went off . . . ;-)
I liked Taxi but Kaufmann was never my style either
*waving to newt*
They’re 9 weeks old and Slow Broilers. Anytime after 10 weeks, we prefer later then that. They’re active and have room to romp.
I’m already fantasizing about the 6 months of no meat chickens.
Niters Puppers n Suz . . . time to zzz.
Hug em close . . . . we do it again in the morrow, dawg willin.
Sweet dreams, bgrothus.
heee!
jen just sent me this pic of jujube with the caption Look at me! I’m a big girl :)
sorry to hear that bg, been following you for a while as you go back and forth to take care of her. I took care of my dad in his final days – I’m so glad I did but it still hurts.
g’nite larue
weird, and hilarious
From the AK wiki:
That is how I like my weird.
Both Foodland and Safeway are having these “deals” whereby if you spend $25 [$50 @ Safeway] you can buy a turkey REALLY cheap [$3].
We’ve made 4 different transactions and taken the turkeys [plus the rice we bought the get to the required $25 purchase] to the Maui Food Bank.
The Food Bank has the capacity to store the frozen turkeys. They were ULTRA excited to get ours
hey mauimom — how’s your island tonight?
I was wondering if it is unlawful destruction under the law. Technically, the Occupy are squatters.?.
It doesn’t change the nature of the police state. I was just wondering if they could keep confiscating citizens property over and over.
omg, she’s a cutey. How did she get the big already?!
she’s 7 months – lardy the time has flown by since she was born. she’s got two bottom teeth now
But he couldn’t coach it. McLoughan and Baalke had as much or more to do with building it than Ding.
Squatters or any other name, they are still US citizens protected Constitutionally from seizure and destruction of their property until a court of law settles the complaint.
It is time Occupy lawyers focus some attention on this unlawful abuse by authorities and make them compensate Occupy for all destroyed property….
That’s great! I’ve never thought of that before….taking the turkey to a food bank or rescue mission (darn, I’m not very creative, I guess.) I will definitely follow up on that.
I’ll give you half. He could not coach it, but he could resurrect it’s fire.
McLoughan and Baalke – that is like saying that John McVay built Bill Walsh’s original winning 49er squad. Not much dice.
As a side note, none of us thought much at all of Alex Smith. I was among the first to dump on him. He’s seven and one, having lost to the Cowboys in OT.
i’m spending thanksgiving with mike and jen at mike’s brother and sister in law’s house. got my invite tonight :) jen did thanksgiving last year so i guess its stacy’s turn this year :)
i rarely buy enough at the store to get one of the free birds but if i do i’m gonna follow mauimom’s example…
oh my stars!! How fast the little buggers grow – what a dollbaby
LOL – well then AK didn’t disappoint
Oh, a pic!
‘Gimme a cold one!’
awesome!
I like that his practical jokes had practical jokes within.
That’s awesome, MM…! We’ve got one of those Foodland coupons for a free turkey that I plan on cooking over at my Daughter’s apartment on Turkey day…! 8-)
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 ellie!!!
like Suz I don’t usually get enough points to get a free turkey but I never thought of picking it up because I only use my toaster oven for baking – but it would be a waste not to claim a turkey and share it wit others.
and how is the little one?
w00T! (I didn’t realize 99 was so lucky – Herman will cane me I’m sure.)
The little momma was grumbling to the wife yesterday that she think’s Ikaika is starting to teethe already…!
I wasn’t even sure if those laws applied anymore. Honestly.
They can’t prove what they had stolen by the civil servants in the police sector without receipts or some documentation. Occupy Supply would keep receipts for donations to different sites, I’m assuming. Not sure where I’m going with that, except I do love a paper trail.
I’ve often overlooked the free or almost-free turkeys because I don’t have freezer space……I imagine that many of us could gift our local food bank or food kitchen. Thanks, MM, for giving us a poke!
ppd suggested we change the happy lucky 100 to the happy lucky 99 in solidary with occupy.
cain strikes me (pun intended) more as a bottom than a top…
Time is flying by so fast. Isn’t he 10 weeks old,or so?
jujube started drooling quite a lot around 4 months. she’s a chewing gumming machine, gnawing on table legs, dresser legs, all her chew toys, etc. her nickname at the moment is piranha
About there, 11 weeks I think…! He’s getting big…! I hope to catch his big ole dimples when he smiles the next he comes over for the nite…!
*heh* I like that nick name…! ;-)
Oh My /George Takei
OCCUPY!
Videos of the confiscation, trashing and tossing into garbage trucks is enough proof of a crime. Damages could be assessed by courts by an estimated value, and even much more in punitive damages….
tis a fitting one for a teething baby… jen is learning that everything goes into the mouth means everything. she was astonished when julianna rolled over to her first table leg and started gnawing… by the time jujube had started in on the dresser jen was no longer surprised…
I love the 4 month age when the little cylinders start firing.
evening all…
evening, Suzzzz — firegods
jayt! how’s ya been dood?
ppd! how was your day?
Thank you. I was wondering about that as I watched videos of demolition.
I’m a member of the ACLU. Even when they were defending the KKK I knew I had to keep sending in my money. But it hurt.
it’s all going pretty well actually. Hardly know how to act.
and you?
tired. i was up before the crack of noon today so i could have enough coffee in me to be a nice person when making the members calls. gotta get up before the crack of noon tomorrow to attend the occupy supply liaison training webinar. stormy earlier but its pretty much blown through now. some stars peaking out in between the clouds
You, openhope, are one of countless unsung heroes….
been boxing a lot.
haven’t been knocked on my ass for a week now.
the guy had Inspector Gadget arms I’m pretty sure….
15 minutes till PDX invasion. They are all going to form sitting lines, link arms; each will hold on to the one in the line in front of him/her to create an unmovable wall….
Hey Suz an all. Savin me some Mighty Mouse for the mornin coffee.
Been blowin and snortin all day today must be 40-50 mph.
so it was more than just a birthday thang…
hey homeroid — you getting some of that ‘snowicane’ that nome had or is it a different storm?
live stream PDX: http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution
Portland Mayor 503-823-4120 chief of police 207-874-8601 police info desk. 207-874-8479
live local news stream fox 12 is fond of reminding folks they are a fox afflicted station but are owned by a completely different corporation. they have their copter over occupy portland tonight for air coverage
Yes Snozilla missed us here. This is the next front and we got wind that don’t stop. This old house is creaking from places i aint heard before.
been doing it for about 4 months.
all I can say is that boxers are some incredible athletes to be able to go all those rounds.
Got it. Thanks, Suz….
this one has sounded like an old wooden ship on a stormy sea before… my critters don’t like the creaks and groans but it doesn’t bother me… as long as there is no damage and nothing gets blown off (or worse in)
back in the day, i dated a guy who was a da’s investigator who was training for boxing in the police olympics. its a lotta hard work training for it and i never did figure out the appeal… its not like ya get a runner’s high or anything…
Oh yeah the kitties are not happy. At least when they jump i know it’s burning off some of their fat.
i know its a bad storm when both token and bailey cat are sitting behind my chair putting me between them and the windows
Just fine, Suzzzz — Friends’ daughter’s wedding yesterday was great.
Suz – I was wondering how your place was holding up.
On a related topic, my family has agreed when my time comes, I can spend my last days in the family cabin I went to last summer.
sweet! did the weather coooperate?
so far so good dood. i know you love that old cabin
Im prayin for some good beach combin tomorrow.
i’d love to stay up with ya’ll tonight but i’m forking fried and have another early day tomorrow.
thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight. i’m looking forward to seeing what tut has on tap sun and mon nites — hope to see ya there
g’nite all
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
rained like crazy — so they moved it inside
its not like ya get a runner’s high or anything…
oh, YES you do…
Niters, Suz.
night, Suzzz — hiya CT – how’s the family?
I hate to be a pain in the keister but Mrs. JP and I are in a bind and have little chance of making the rent this December and may be looking at living in our car for the holidays. We’re both actively looking for work but all the opportunities for me have been co-opted by temp agencies. Details are here and any help would be appreciated.
