Support of the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administrations signature health care law, has hit a record low. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation poll, only 34 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of the new law while 51 percent have an unfavorable view of the law.

Occupy Reno |
| By: profmarcus Friday October 28, 2011 1:10 pm |
On Wednesday, the Occupy Reno members appeared before the Reno City Council. A 90-day permit was approved for the old municipal pool site on Moana Lane. The $35 per day ($1100 per month) fee was waived and the permit filing fee of $103 was donated by a City Councilman.
Some smugness and condescension was in the air, however, as the Councilman expressed doubts that many “occupiers” would turn out given that Reno’s winter temps are quickly taking hold.
CBPP Destroys Catfood Commission Dems’ Plan for Deficit Reduction |
| By: David Dayen Friday October 28, 2011 12:20 pm |
Robert Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has not been traditionally opposed to a deficit reduction plan. The CBPP supports chained CPI, for example. So it’s quite something to see Greenstein, along with Paul van de Water and Richard Kogan, savage the Democratic opening bid in the Catfood Commission II, describing it as to the right of Bowles-Simpson, the Gang of Six and other deficit plans.
OWS – This Is Just the Beginning |

So, I paid a visit to Occupy Wall Street on Thursday October 27. It was NOT what the media would lead you to believe. First of all, a miracle has happened, a miracle that may have been caused by the absence of white shirted police supervisors; there were tents up yesterday.

It looks like the Pizza Guy, who’s currently leading the GOP field, has appallingly low standards when it comes to hiring people.

The Obama Administration approved cuts to California’s Medicaid program that will slash reimbursement rates and potentially cause providers to reject treatment for the program for the poor.
Occupy LA Day 27: No Police Action per NLG & LAPD, Food Arrives, and Controversial Radio Team Broadcasts Live |

Occupy LA still has needs: They are out of most medical supplies, including bandages, both adhesive and elastic; single use antibiotic ointment packs; powdered electrolytes like Emergen-C; hand sanitizer; alcohol wipes; single use saline eye drops; Lysol; bleach wipes; tear-off paper covers for exam tables; latex-free gloves; Maalox or other liquid antacids. Blankets are especially important as it gets colder. Thanks to Firedoglake’s Occupy Supply Fund and a private donor, I can pick up some of these items, but more are constantly needed by the LA medics, and by medics at other Occupys.

Allegedly “Meaningless” 2011 Budget Cuts Cost 370,000 Jobs |
| By: David Dayen Friday October 28, 2011 6:59 am |
Way back in April, Congress agreed, after nearly causing a government shutdown, on a budget deal that cut $39 billion over the next six months. There were a lot of articles written in the aftermath about how the outlays actually increased and how Obama fleeced Boehner and how the whole thing got accomplished with no harm.
Well, the Center for American Progress, making a different point and trying to pin the bad economy on House Republicans, ran the numbers on the 2011 budget cuts. It turns out they cost the country 370,000 jobs.
Occupy London: Chancellor Giles Fraser Resigns from St. Paul’s Cathedral Staff |

From high atop the western front of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the stone figure of St. Paul looks down on the plaza below. St. Paul — a tentmaker by trade — has a clear view of the sprawling tents that have blossomed around the cathedral as part of the Occupy London Stock Exchange movement. The towers to the left and right of St. Paul are topped by pineapples — “a symbol of peace, prosperity and hospitality,” according to the St. Paul’s website.
