Aw, who’d have thought he’d get stiffed? |

Lanny’ Davis’ Ivory Coast patron is warm and cuddly lover of humanity Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, known even in a continent that included Mubarak, Gaddafi, Gbagbo (Client) and Mugabe as “Africa’s worst dictator”.
It is hard to believe that two such upstanding people as Mr. Davis and Mr. Mbasogo have run into a spot of bother.

Late Night FDL: Pouting Baby Says “Will Bloomin’ Rich Mike Make a Stupid Move?” |
| By: Jim White Thursday October 13, 2011 8:00 pm |
Of course , since he’s a billionaire, too, it wouldn’t be very surprising for Bloomin’ Rich Mike to do what he can to shut down the protest and protect his fellow Wall Street billionaires. He’d just be protecting his fellow billionaires. But is it too late for the protests to be shut down? Would it really be stupid to try to shut them down? I kind of think that lots more people will suddenly be interested and will show up in New York City and other places if Bloomin’ Rich Mike sends the police and there are problems. What do you think?

| By: Jon Walker Thursday October 13, 2011 6:09 pm |
That giant sucking sound you hear today is the sound of jobs being outsourced as President Obama signs into law three free trade deals; South Korea, Colombia and Panama. According to the Economic Policy Institute, passing the Korea Free Trade deal will likely cost this country 159,000 jobs.
Chaos, Fear Grips Alabama after Immigration Law |
| By: David Dayen Thursday October 13, 2011 5:18 pm |
What’s happening in Alabama after the implementation of their Arizona-style immigration law has been described to me by people on the ground as heartbreaking. Children have been held out of school, families are picking up and leaving, produce is rotting in the fields, because of fear for deportation by productive workers and, in some cases, legal immigrants who happen to be Hispanic. Yesterday, immigrants participated in a one-day boycott to protest the new law.
Panetta: Defense “Catastrophe” Would Mean Reduced Military Presence in Latin America and Africa |
| By: David Dayen Thursday October 13, 2011 4:25 pm |
Leon Panetta has said time and time again since the inking of the debt limit deal that defense cuts at the level of what would be triggered by a Super Committee failure would be disastrous. He did so again at a Congressional hearing today. And we finally got a sense of what that “disaster” would specifically look like, according to Ben Armbruster’s account. Turns out it would mean that US military personnel might not be in every country on Earth. Disaster!
#OWS, Aim Big |
| By: Jon Walker Thursday October 13, 2011 3:25 pm |
I haven’t written about what I think the Occupy Wall Street protesters policy demands should or shouldn’t be because I don’t feel it is my place. Yet as I see more and more people tell the Occupy Wall Street people what they should demand, I feel there is simply one piece of advise I must offer: aim big
