Occupy Pittsburgh “On Sacred Ground”

By: RFShunt Sunday October 16, 2011 7:50 am

Occupy Pittsburgh, like Occupy actions in many other cities, kicked off today. What had started out in the planning stages as energetic but rough-hewn and chaotic seemed to settle into a more cohesive event.

It began with a march from Freedom Corner in Pittsburgh’s Hill district – historically the starting point of many marches dating back to the civil rights movement of the 1950′s and 60′s.

US to Withdraw All Troops from Iraq

By: David Dayen Sunday October 16, 2011 7:10 am

This is the right move for the wrong reason. The troops are coming home only because Iraq’s government would not give legal immunity to the remaining forces in the field.

Sunday Talking Heads: October 16, 2011

By: Elliott Sunday October 16, 2011 2:00 am

Good morning everyone, Happy Day! Here we have a scene from yesterday at #Occupy Boston. Reading all the posts and diaries, I feel I’ve traveled around the country. We’ve had fabulous firsthand reporting from so many people.

Looking at this lineup, it’s clear we are going to have to #Occupy the studios.

Teddy notes “Nice to see DiFi nestled in at FOX, preparatory to her re-election effort, down in the polls and outta campaign cash.”

Late Night FDL: Enduring the Reagan Revolution

By: szielinski Saturday October 15, 2011 8:00 pm

I’ve pined thirty-years for something like the Occupy Wall Street movement. Thank God — I’m an atheist! — it’s here. I’ve waited that long because it’s been a little more than thirty years since the 1981 Washington, DC Solidarity Day March.

Spinning Themselves into a Corner over OWS

By: RFShunt Saturday October 15, 2011 7:00 pm

Whodathunkit, the right-wing spin machine is fallible.

It’s clear the resonance and speed of the Occupy Wall Street movement took the talking-point factories of the right by surprise. Not that they didn’t respond quickly when #OWS began to break through their media firewalls – they did. They always do.

Occupy St Petersburg

By: SouthernDragon Saturday October 15, 2011 6:00 pm

By 3:30 o’clock people were gathering in small groups and talking. Not many young people at this point. I’m thinking they’re mostly in Tampa and there was another street event happening about 12 blocks up Central Ave. Lot of stuff going on simultaneously. 4:00 and it’s beginning to look like a crowd and the first order of business was to get people off of the sidewalks and into the park proper. A mini General Assembly was held to “human mic” the people into the park. Took all of about five minutes to get everybody gathering around the red whatever that thing is.

Justice Served: Kansas Panel Recommends DA Phill Kline’s License to Practice Be Suspended Indefinitely

By: RHRealityCheck Saturday October 15, 2011 5:00 pm

Phill Kline has been the large, annoying, festering thorn in the side of Kansas women since 2003, when he was elected as Kansas Attorney General. He made his political career cheered on and funded by, his anti-abortion cronies. Even today, he remains their hero. I’m not just referring to the far right wingy-wing nut fringes. I’m referring to politicians that are still in the statehouse today and jump at any opportunity to defend and in fact, exalt the praises of their “pro-life” poster boy.

“The First Thing We Do, …” Let’s Occupy the Super Committee

By: Scarecrow Saturday October 15, 2011 4:00 pm

Here’s a practical suggestion for those puzzled, impatient, frustrated or made hopeful by the Occupy Wall Street Movement. Demand that the Congressional Super Committee meeting in secret somewhere in the off-Wall Street boardrooms of our nation’s capital disband, cease to function, go away . . . repeal its mandate and then subject its members to 30 days of public ridicule, if not rotten tomatoes.

Yeah, it’s time to occupy, disrupt, harass and disband the forgotten but still secretly conspiring Super Committee, the wealthy implementers of perhaps the dumbest act of economic self immolation since 1937.
